Just a hunch, but could the NFC SIM be conflicting with the NFC chip in the phone itself? Perhaps try disabling NFC on the phone and see if you still get the error message. If NFC on the phone is already disabled, I have no idea, sorry.

DHD randomly asks for Pincode (Crash of com.android.phone - ERROR REPORT?)

hey mates,
got a problem: my dhd randomly asks for the pincode..
i'm not sure but i think it's there since i installed widgetsoid to have an mobile network on/off switch on homescreen.
any advice? does anyone have a similar problem?
its a tmobile device uptodate but i'm using it with a "blau.de"-simcard (it's e-plus network).
DN41
Could it be that It's a widget to go to airplane mode. Because if you enable airplane mode and disable it again you must fill in you're pin because you want access to sim again.
Sent from my Desire HD
Your phone may need to be sim/subsidy unlocked to use other sims. If this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857444 doesn't help you remove the message you may have to contact t-mobile for a subsidy code (you may have to pay) to use another sim.
EDIT: hmmm I may be talking about the wrong thing...

mh..nope thats not right because the phone isnt looked..you see, i can use it, mobile network works, etc, etc...it just asks for pin.
@henv: ok..but why should the widget do that?
others dont have that problem..mh..
DN41
I don't know which widget you have but there are widgets which do that.
You say you have a widget that disable network.
Sent from my Desire HD
yeah, widgetsoid, but only if i touch the button
DN41
Maybe enabled the lock screen pin?
nope haha
its definetily the sim pin
DN41
another guess: what if the phone looses the signal and gets it back afterwards? does it then ask again for the pin?
is there any setting to solve this?
i had never such problems with winmo, although i had also signal drops..
any advice?

If it loses signal and then gets it back it does not ask for the pin code.
Is your sim card inserted as far as it can go? Maybe the connection with the sim card is a bit dodgy.
nope if i push harder, it'll brake
DN41
when i lose signal and then get it back, my phone asks me for pincode. maybe that's the problem
ok..so can someone else comfirm this too?
is there any chance to disable this "feature"?
DN41
Afaik the phone asks for pin if you manually disable your signal (boot, airplane mode) . After loosing signal (out of coverage area etc.) It shouldn't ask for pin. As for the widget I think it somehow disables your signal.

hey guys,
little update: some minutes ago, i was playing around with my phone.
suddenly i got the message that "com.android.phone crashed". i pressed ok and the phone asked me for the pin.
so i guess this is our beast
is there any chance to find out, why the process crashed?
DN41
Please check after the phone app crash whether you have your SMS messages... After my phone app crash I have lost all messages
regards, m.
all of them are still there
DN41
mh..again that annoying problem...
any chance for any kind of "error report"?
DN41
Hi DN41,
I got the same problem.
I think the problem is from 3G or sim card.
I noticed that when i put the phone in gsm, all is ok. But i didn't let gsm for few days to be sure. Need to test.
Need to test to put the sim card in an other phone and an other sim in my phone. Like that we will be sure that is à sim problem.

Ok but mine worked fine in my hd2..I uninstalled widgetsoid a few hours ago and had no crash since then. Let's wait and see

check in settings if you have a baseband installed sometimes it uninstalls by itself so that could be the problem

Settings > About phone > Baseband version
Does the phone ask you to insert SIM, or are you unable to connect to your cell provider?
If you are asked to insert SIM, you may have a bad SIM slot (broken pin contacts), or the SIM is placed incorrectly in the slot.
If you just have no service, check your phone number is displayed correctly in "About phone" and try to scan for available networks in:
Settings > Wireless & networks (more) > Mobile networks > Network operators
then use "Choose automatically"
Will the sim tray broken. My nexus 4 is running JB Stock and no root.

Had the exact same problem. Had no service at all (the network icon was just a triangle), no baseband, no IMEI. This is what I tried so far. My phone was stock 4.3 before my experiments :
1. Tried toggling *#*#4636#*#*, tried all the options there - no luck. Radio was "off", and no matter how many times I tried to click on Turn On Radio, it wouldnt start
2. Tried switching Sim cards, from same operator and from a different operator, no luck
3. Did a factory reset using the settings menu - no change
4. Finally, rooted the phone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312 (First time ever, complete noob here). Everything went smoothly. Installed all the standard stuff from the 4.3 image.
Now, I could see the radio intermittently turn on and off - what a relief ! Atleast I knew there exists a chance this is not a hardware issue. I was getting service for 10 seconds, then it was going off for 10 seconds. This was happening continuously.
5. Tried *#*#4636#*#* and toggling all options again, (even GSM only, WDCMA only, preferred etc). I am in India and using Idea Cellular.
6. Searched like crazy on the xda forum for possible solutions - decided I'll try out a different radio version (I had 0.84 on mine) from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227 - If you're a complete noob like me and dont know what the hell I'm talking about, trust me, flashing a radio is not that difficult. Just refer to my earlier thread link
7. Tried flashing each and every radio from 0.24 - 0.84. Mixed results. Except for 0.83 and 0.84 all other radios atleast maintain signal throughout. However it never turns "blue" - I cannot access the internet from my phone - I have a data plan, the apn information is correct and every other setting is proper (airplane mode off, data on etc). The other odd thing is I can call and receive calls, however there is absolutely no audio !
By elimination - I think there are only two options here - either this has something to do with the 4.3 update altogether, or this is a hardware glitch on the nexus 4 which is activated by some unique sequence of steps. Please note I did NOTHING "illegal" on the phone before this problem - no rooting no custom software, not even any apps which mainstream users would call "shady" - just the usual FB, Mail apps, my corporate mail account.
Any ideas here - I am going to go ahead and try flashing my phone back to stock 4.2.2 again, and hope that works !! Please help ! And apologies for the tremendously long post first up

NoobNexus

i recently buy a nexus 4 from ebay, only for nostalgia, so, when i receive the cellphone, i turn on without a sim inside, connected to wifi and the phone request for 3 upgrades of security, the nexus was in 5.1.1, the last than ir support, so i accepted the upgrades and the nighmare start, when i put my sim, the nexus not recognized it, i try everything, put in airplane mode and back and nothing, full reset from recovery twice and nothing.
So, i unlock the bootloader, install a recovery (clockwork) and root, after download from google the formware 4.4.4 for nexus 4, start the downgrade, when my nexus wake up in kitkat with my at&t (mexico) sim inside, the same problem, still not detecting simcard, i connect to wifi and the cellphone request for an upgrade, android 5.0.1 , click in next and the nexus start downloading and installing the upgrade, after 15 minutes, again with the sim indide, wake up with lollipop and the signal come back again ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
My nexus after 24hrs is still with signal, whitout problems, but still request for the other 3 upgrades ( android 5.1.1 and other two upgrades for security), but with previous experience.... i will keep in 5.0.1......

Foxfi / Pda net

Does anyone know if the usb/ or hotspot of foxfi/pda net or other non native teathering apps work on the z force droid? ive been on unlocked and rooted phones for a while but i'm just not seeing anything that i want. i bought a oneplus 3 then found out it didn't have the lte bands for verizion. derp. but i think id go back to a locked phone for this modular deal as long as i could still teather with pda net. cuz i ant pay'n no 30 bucks for Verizon to "unlock" the capability of my phone. pffffffftttttttttt.

Both bluetooth and USB work, but WiFi requires a mobile hotspot plan (which I don't have, so I can't test).
If you are the only one on your plan, go prepaid, I dont pay extra and the stock tethering under settings works just fine

I searched for the same, tried a number of apps, tried all of these recommended root apps & protocols ended up with the same disappointing result. Most of it just didn't work or no one could provide the necessary tools in proper sequential steps.
With you phone powered on remove your sim card. Go to Mobile hot spot & tethering, activate blue tooth tethering.wait a few minutes put your sim back in. you should now be able to pair devices with your phone and share its internet connection..

Found this in the other threads regarding hotspot. If you download "Network Signal Refresher Lite" from 8JAPPS in the playstore you can use native tethering. Just open the app and hit refresh and the moment you lose service drag down the quick tiles and tap the hotspot button. Been using this on my Moto Z Droid for the past few days and it works perfectly

Great tip. works like a charm. and i see why, its so simple. if ya wanted something similar without downloading the app id imagine pulling your sim or anything that pops the radio off for a few so it can't call home and ask for permission.

Use Network signal refresher
Does anyone know of any workarounds? Network Signal Refresher stopped working for me with Nougat as well.
Yesterday they had an update for Network Signal Lite to version 5.0. Didnt work for me.
Today they have another update to version 5.1 hoping it fixes the issue. Just figured I would share.
i take it popping the sim doesn't work as well then. seams as if they might have closed the "if not able to call home let hotspot on anyway" bug then.

No Sim Card (Emergency Calls Only) issue after feb 2018 security update

After Feb 2018 security update, I have issues with the network.
4G connection is freezing and I get "No Sim Card (Emergency Calls Only) notification very often. I can't make calls nor someone can call me. I need to restart the phone to fix it.
I haven't experienced this before the feb 2018 security update.
Anyone has experienced those issues? How I can fix it? Or I need to wait for the next update?
I don't have the problem, but have you tried removing the SIM card and reinstalling it in both SIM slots?
You don't say whether your A1 is stock, rooted or other, but I would assume any suggested solutions would be based on that info.

Have You tried setting the 'Preferred network type' to 4G and 3G?
Does it behave same regardless of 3G/4G setting?

I'm trying this now to see if issue will persist.
It may be a longshot, but I noticed one of the updates from the Playstore today was Carrier Services. I am not sure what it does, but if you did not update it, you might wish to give that a shot. If you did update, it might have broken something on your phone/carrier. As I said, I don't have the issue, so it is hard to guess what the problem might be and there is not a lot of info as to what this app does.
--KB
PS If anyone knows exactly what Carrier Services does, could you please enlighten us? Very little info on it when you search.

Do You have any possibility to test with another SIM-card?
This just to eliminate the SIM-card reader(s) in phone...
If possible please test both slots 1 and 2.
If problem still persists it seems to a HW error/failure...

I do not have another sim card for sadness, today I will test the second slot. Anyway, I've contacted the tech support from the shop I've bought because I still have a warranty.
Thank you anyway for the help, I will write update later.
Update:
Seemed that sim card was a bit dirty, cleaned up, restarted the phone several times and now it's fine (for now). So, definitely isn't hardware or software issue.

LG G6 Mobile data issue

Hello All.
This may sound like an easy problem to solve and a part of me hopes it is. but im fairly well versed in android and has me baffled.
Phone runs beautifully 870DS. When i leave WiFi, the swith to mobile data takes for ever and then remains super fickle and intermittent. I sometimes do not have any data moving whatsoever (offline dinosaur in chrome level) When i connect to wifi again, all is fine, instantly.
I have full signal (full bars).
Mobile data on.
Switch to mobile data on.
The correct network registered & the correct APN for that network is set.
I have it set to GSM/WCDMA/ LTE auto
I have tried setting RAT set to every possible combo and it still continues!
I read somewhere it could be caused by radio initiation, so i went in *#*#4636#*#* to run a ping test but "phone information" throws up an error "This application does not work on this device"
Im 95% certain it is unlocked because i I bought the phone in another country and just popped my new sim straight in without hassle.
The mobile data issues started almost immediately. Now im stumped as what to do.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and rewarded with beer :good:
THANKS!!!

Thanks. I will try that and trial run it over the next few days. The issue also occurs randomly while out on LTE or 3G. I will take my phone out to check google or whatsapp and nothing will send. So as your suggestion may be a work around, i doubt it will be a solve.

go to settings, system, about phone, hardware info and check the model number.
For example I have LG-H870 (European bands, single SIM model).
I see you have dual sim so probably model H870DS and this should have enough bands to work well in Europe and Asia. Check here:
https://www.teamandroid.com/2017/04/15/lg-g6-model-numbers-variants/

Thanks for that. Yes according to this https://www.frequencycheck.com/carr...0ds-g6-dual-sim-td-lte/mtn-group-south-africa
I do have the correct bands. Could a carrier lock only one of the slots rendering it single sim in effect? The one sim works perfectly, second sim, no dice
Sorry for bumping an old thread.
Gf is having a similar issue on her phone; long story short, it happens that sometimes, after being connected to Wi-Fi and turing it off, it takes ages for her to get a mobile data connection, despite having full signal.
I had her replace the SIM, as I've seen similar problems (intermittent data connection, phone appears connected but no Internet available, etc.) with a SIM card that was about to go bad; it didn't help. Next step would be a full phone reset.
@deathcells : did you find the cause of your issue?
@fagentu.xda
No unfortunately not. I just deal with it. Extremely frustrating standing in the shop trying to pay without internet...
I tried the settings and force options to no avail.
I tried using both sim cards (from different providers) in both slots for months and no combination ever worked for me. I have yet to figure out if i bought a dudd phone or if a work around exists. Please let me know what you find out! Thanks and best of luck
Have the same issue with mine now. It started to go bad a few weeks ago... Tried everything. Changed SIM card, factory reset, etc... and nothing will change.
I'd say that the phone is just faulty. As I'm still under the warranty I'm in contact with LG to find out about a possible fix or phone replacement. I'll try to keep you posted.
Have you guys find a solution for this? I cant do anything. Does flashing kdz to andriod 9 pie helps?
