Hello everyone,
I'm an ex-Evo3d user and as I remember people were always talking about how updating your phone can kill your root. My question is now that I rooted my Sprint SG4 and have the hotspot goody working, what should I do about any future Sprint OTA updates? Should I update or not? Should I wait for OTA updates that people post that I flash manually? What do you guys think?
Thanks :fingers-crossed:
I too came from Evo 3d, I believe if you are running a custom recovery otas will not update, it checks prior to installing and if you are the update fails. That said, even back in my htc days I found is best to patiently wait till a skilled dev gets their hands on it and create flashbacks firmware zips our so it's safe to flash in Odin

Thanks for the info! I was a bit concerned on the auto update. Waiting for a zip flash OTA update is the way to go. Cool! :highfive:
Generally speaking our Devs have a fully rooted version of the newest OTA available the same day if not a few days before it comes out. You are always prompted about a new OTA and you can ignore it until you get a flashable update that meets your needs. Once you are on a build that has the same version source as the OTA you will stop getting update notices.

Thanks for giving the heads up on that!:victory: I love TW and the stock rom so this is great news! Thanks again!:good:
I'm running the stock 4.4 kit kat sense 5.5 rom. I'm s-off and unlocked. I woke up this morning saying my phone has a 180mb update. (.1540.3) should I download the OTA or and if not how do I get rid of the notification?

Do you get as worried when anything else has an update?

Hi, I just got an AT&T S4.
It's currently on Android version 4.3
Can I use this tool to root/unlock it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297900
My baseband version is I337UCUEMK2
Once I unlock/root it, can I flash any ROM in this forum?
Thanks

You need to read the threads that are in the General and q & a sections. Start with the pinned threads. The questions you asked show that you have not done any reading and all members are expected to search and read. You will be glad if you do, because if you don't you will more than likely end up with a brick. There are several threads that already have the answers you asked. Good luck.
I read the stickied Q&A, which linked to the thread I posted above. It seems that the tool should be able to root and unlock my MK2 phone. I just wanted to confirm to double check.

It doesn't. Read all section stickies, there is a big guide in the general section telling you what works.

You are going to have limitations on that build bc of the locked down bootloader by Samsung

First of all this is a question, yes! So it should be the Q&A threads.
Secondly they're stickies at the top of every thread section, they're there for a purpose. If you had correctly searched you would have come across this stickied thread in the Q&A threads, that took me awhile to write to specifically helps folks http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639102
No disrespect meant but in the future search before opening a thread that's not required

oh sorry for that, i did search but could find anything concerning moto x, guess i didnt use the proper terms.
thanks you!
Tired of waiting for the OTA update. Does anyone know if we can update to Kit Kat via Kies?
1) this is the wrong place to ask a question. Those go in the Q&A section.
2) Hook up your phone to Kies. If it loads 4.4.2 then yes if no then no.

So you couldn't wait until you got home to try it yourself? since you are impatient on the OTA you could have side loaded the OTA zip that is already available and flash it in stock recovery. Its the exact thing you will receive from Sprint.
