I'm running the stock 4.4 kit kat sense 5.5 rom. I'm s-off and unlocked. I woke up this morning saying my phone has a 180mb update. (.1540.3) should I download the OTA or and if not how do I get rid of the notification?

Do you get as worried when anything else has an update?

Was surprised to see FRF91 OTA when a few days ago manually installed passion FRF85. Anyone know the difference?

I was thinking about rooting my incredible and by skimming the forums i see that an update is preventing a few from re rooting or rooting in general but my actual question is when u guys are saying "new" update are you meaning the update that i received a day or so ago with the vcast app store or whatever it is included in the 17mb file...is this the update u guys are talking about or is it like a software update that i must not have recieved yet? Thx!

The latest OTA (with VCast Apps, etc) is not working with Unrevoked/ClockworkMod. I don't know if you could still root manually. Hopefully someone else will chime in. I am rooted with Unrevoked and the last OTA did not work for me. I don't think I want it enough to go back and flash the stock recovery to get it.
My desire HD i bought unlocked from amazon. I rooted my mobile using visionary and rom manager. 2 days ago i got the update for gingerbread 2.36. I downloaded the update and tried to install but the got exclamation mark. I tried to manually update I got error (Status 7). Please help me.
Do you really want to install an OTA update that will remove root?
If not, then you can simply flash one of the many existing rooted Sense based GB ROMs.
Yes I want Install OTA. I don't have a problem of loosing the root. I don't know how and I am new to andriod
Maybe to ask someone in dev section :S try there mate
Strange but each to their own.
Not seen this before, sounds like the update download might have corrupted. But even so, I'd be tempted to hard reset (back everything up - search to find out how) and wait for next window to update.

You need the full stock ROM if you want to update, if you've removed some stock HTC aps (Amazon for example) you'll get that exclamation mark again and you will not be able to update.
I recommend you to read the root/s-off/radio-off/ how to flash a custom rom guide and install a stock gingerbread/sense w.q rom.
This is what you would get with the OTA update despite the.fact, that you still have a rooted phone

Now i flashed a stock rom and then downloaded the gingerbread update. In the recovery i got the error Can't open E:/cache/recovery/command
I just turned on my tab and it alerted me of an update. It says system update 4.010.13 and its 14.49 mb. Anyone know what this is? And I also ask because I'm rooted and wondering if I should accept the download. I know with my phone being rooted and running custom roms, I never receive updates. So I'm not sure what to do with this one since I'm rooted and if that has any effects on system updates. Any ideas what it is and if its okay to take the update.
With stock roms you still get updates. But don't update that way, it wont work if you have clockwork recovery. There is a link for the update in the general section of the iconia forum, sorry I don't have the link. So find the link and install it through cwm and you should be good. I have been running .13 for 2 months with no problems so its stable.

I looked through several pages and didn't see anything about an update. Are you talking about the general section here? Where I posted this question.
I also got this update but it fails to apply due to cwm being the recovery image. Where do the updates actually download to anyways?

Yeah I found it in this section 2 months ago. The title was actually was 4.010.13. I don't have time to find at this moment but I'll look for it. It might take a while to find since it was so long ago.

thanks! I don't get why I just received this update when the link you posted me was people talking about it back in July lol
I just saw this over at Android Central: http://www.androidcentral.com/acer-iconia-a500-getting-small-system-update-today
So they also are reporting it today. Why did other people receive it so early?

maybe its required for their upcoming 3.2 OTA update to install???????
Hello everyone,
I'm an ex-Evo3d user and as I remember people were always talking about how updating your phone can kill your root. My question is now that I rooted my Sprint SG4 and have the hotspot goody working, what should I do about any future Sprint OTA updates? Should I update or not? Should I wait for OTA updates that people post that I flash manually? What do you guys think?
Thanks :fingers-crossed:
I too came from Evo 3d, I believe if you are running a custom recovery otas will not update, it checks prior to installing and if you are the update fails. That said, even back in my htc days I found is best to patiently wait till a skilled dev gets their hands on it and create flashbacks firmware zips our so it's safe to flash in Odin

Thanks for the info! I was a bit concerned on the auto update. Waiting for a zip flash OTA update is the way to go. Cool! :highfive:
Generally speaking our Devs have a fully rooted version of the newest OTA available the same day if not a few days before it comes out. You are always prompted about a new OTA and you can ignore it until you get a flashable update that meets your needs. Once you are on a build that has the same version source as the OTA you will stop getting update notices.
