I was wondering if anyone has anyone experience with the LCD repairs for the S4 with Samsung. I sent in my phone and they just got it to the repair center today. To those that have sent in their phone to Samsung, when should I expect to get my phone back? I am dying without it right now. lol. Is there a chance that they will get the repair done early? Thanks!

usually what they do is let you keep your phone until they have the replacement part ready, and once they have it already they will notify you to send it in for repair which usually just take about an hour.
this is how samsung service centers works in our country, i dunno about yours..

Sorry to hear of your loss The refurbished phones I've received in the past have come in brown, generic looking boxes.
Not always the case. There are reports on xda that the refurbs that people have been getting have not been hardware locked. And even if it is there is a fix on the site for it. yep the best way to tell is when it comes in a brown generic box

It means that you cannot enter recovery/download mode using the hardware keys.

Don't take my word on it, but i think that when you call Asurion's for a replacement they send you a new one, and the replacements under warranty are refurbished.
With your new replacement you might want to be extra careful with it. I was told on a phone I had to replace that it would no longer be covered under manufacturers warranty through T-Mobile and if you ever had any problems you would have to go through Asurion for any replacement. This was a few years ago so I am not sure if it is correct still or not but I thought I would give you a heads up from what they told me when I replaced a phone.

New phones come in new boxes with the tape still on them, since they have never been opened. It'll still have all the factory packaging on them, etc.
If your phone is on backorder, then you have a 99% chance of getting a new phone (I got 2 brand new replacements ).
If not, then you have maybe a 50% chance of getting a brand new phone.
Maybe you'll be lucky and get the phone I just sent back. Only thing that was wrong is that I locked myself out of it (it was a brand new replacement, locked myself out the next day ). I did put the purple cover on it to keep the black one, though, and it was hardware-locked XD

This is true. When I locked myself out of the replacement, it was through Asurion.
And the phone was backordered, so I had to wait almost two weeks to get a replacement.
But it was a replacement phone. Came straight from the factory, pretty much, judging by the date on the box (dated 3 days before I recieved it).
Odd thing is for my first replacement, they were backordered, but I got the phone the next day.

Useless info, because the deductible depends on the phone type. TP2 is a cheap, old phone compared to the Vibrant.
The deductible for Vibrants and G2s is $130 US.
Has anyone gotten a replacement through the 1-year warranty with Samsung? I just got off the phone with them and they said they don't replace phones only repair them which sounds like bs to me. Issue I have is with the loose screen. It's very loose open or closed.
They will probably try to repair first. If it's not repairable, then they'll give you another one (most likely refurbished).
Yea that's how they do it man, htc does it same way, I had my nexus one repaired in june, took about 9 days from the day I sent it out, tell I got it back repaired. I don't know about samsungs turn over time though.

So my sg2 broke not long ago so I had no choice but to send it to Samsung for a repair which I was hesitant at first after reading a few bad reviews and was concerned with how long the repair would take however I was pleasantly surprised. Samsung received my phone on the 25th and on the 26th they had completed the repair and sent it back to me and I received the phone the next day
So just getting it out there for anyone hesitant to send their phone to Samsung because they provided me a great service!!

Thanks I had to use one of those £10 phones whilst my phone was being repaired which was torture but luckily Samsung got my phone back to me asap.
It's great that they sent it back so fast. What was the issue with your phone?
Good to know! <3 Sammy
Had just the opposite expierience
My previous i9000 had a bug with external sd corrupting data. It wen to their RMA service 4 times. Each time they claim it is fine and my card is culprit.
People at the shop tested it with 3 different sd cards, proving I was right. Sammy service just refused. Tech from shop called them, nothing!!
Finally, the shop was nice enough to exchange it and they will deal with samsung RMA
I'm really disgusted from their service and fearing the day my S2 gets in trouble

It just randomly died, couldnt get it into recovery mode even with a jig and tried different batteries so it was obviously a hardware error.

Sorry to hear that, maybe the engineers were just lazy and didnt actually check if the SD card was getting corrupted but rather just saw the phone detected the card and assumed the phone was fine, but if you have a blatant hardware issue like your phone is just completely dead then they will repair your phone in a day and have it back to you asap

This is based on my experience here in germany:
I went to the samsung homepage and entered some kind of a live chat with a service engineer which was very helpful and quick as well cause i didnt have to call anyone or wait in a stupid queue. she then sent me all the relevant forms to fill out and send back.
I never sent it to SC though cause the fault was only temporary. Batteryindication was totally messed and phone stuck while charging and overheating etc. Looked like a hardware fault but never came back after taking out battery for a night.

Did everything online, made a Samsung account, registered my phone and requested service where you fill in your serial number and IMEI number along with a description of the fault, once thats done you have officially requested a repair and you have to send your phone to them (pre paid) then once they receive the phone they update your service status according to whats happening so overall its a very easy process

You only send them your phone, no box, charger or battery etc is required. They get all the information they need from the serial number and IMEI.
Well in my case Samsung service is one of the worst I've ever seen
Obviously everyone's experience is going to be different and affected by what country they are in, the particular service center, or even the actual person handling your warranty claim. Which is why I am skeptical when hearing a bad (or good) experience with service centers.
Never had to use Samsung service but its not every day you read posts like this...hear a lot of negatives.

wow, great to hear that samsung is so quick to take care of their customers.
not all samsung service centre are that awesome . malaysia samsung service center seems to be very slow
My local Samsung Mobile Service (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) repaired my Galaxy S2 (change Mobo as it broken wifi) in only 1 hour. When waiting, i can use some mobile phone outside 4 fun (game, surf web).
Great service!
My S4 fell down and the screen broke. Since then it won't turn on. Any diagnostic tools or solutions out there?
I know about shops that repair phones!
Call samsung customer services...all samsung products/phones come with a 24 mnth warranty as standard...theyll send you a postage bag to send them the phone in to them..totally free of course. Do not pay an independant repair shop who could possibly damage your handset further...rendering it out of warranty. This is your best bet if you fail to get it working yourself

A broken screen is not covered by warranty if I am not mistaken. And the fact that it died when it fell and the screen broke makes me think that the two things are related?

Nobody can help with this except Samsung.
Yes, broken screen is not covered by warranty, so you will have to pay for that and it's possible it's just that. Screen is not working so you can not see if your phone booted or now.
Go to Samsung support.
You don't have to send it to Samsung. Take/send it to any reputable repair shop. I broke mine a couple of months ago after I only had it for about 3 weeks. I called Verizon to find out if they had it in stock (I was ready to just buy a new one) and they actually told me to go on the internet and look for screen repair places because it would be cheaper than replacing the phone. I found a place in Times Square and I walked it in and 45 minutes later (and $280) I had a working phone again. Haven't had a problem with it since.
My Question is i have a 7 week old s4 and broke front glass and digitizer. I have sprint TEP and going to file a claim but would like to know if i can just switch out all my phone parts to the replacement and vice versa. Then send back the one they sent me. I know they use refurbished ones and don't want someones else junk. If this can be done can someone give me a complete list of parts that must be switched.

You could but that sounds like a lot of work and a waste of a claim. Most the time they send a brand new one anyway

How do you tell if your tep replacement is new or a refurbish
Sent from my BNTV400 using xda app-developers app
I have had TEP for as long as i have had sprint. Ever time i would take any of my phones to the sprint store they would fix them there if they had the parts. I never got sent a new or refub phone. I had an OG evo for a very long time i cracked the screen and they replaced it in the store. Mind you it was rooted with a custom rom and they never gave me a hard time about and never had to pay the deductible.
Well got my replacement phone today and it's refurbished. It was also allready updated to 4.3. Was going to change out the parts from this phone to the old and vice versa since my old one is still on the 4.2 bootloader. As I begin the process I noticed that a piece of broken plastic had gone through the mother board and destroyed a few things. Well now I am stuck with 4.3 boot loader.
