802.11ac Support Confirmed - One (M7) General

I just noticed that HTC posted on their blog regarding built-in support for the newest wifi standard and I verified the connection to my new AirPort Extreme wireless router which supports ac as well. I'm showing 433 Mb/s currently.

Gee, thanks. I didnt see any other posts here and i doubt there's many people with an ac wireless router to post numbers.
I think my original post is relevant and worth sharing despite your opinion.

I agree. My speeds are simply the connection established to the base station. I can't take advantage of it though because i have no other ac devices.

how is the range on that airport extreme? i just picked up a asus rt-ac66u router and while 5GHz works the range is not that great with my htc one so i've been using the standard 2.4GHz at about 50 feet out.

What ISP can even get that close for data?

What's the link speed show on your HTC One? No one that I have seen yet has been able to get true AC link speeds on their phone and that includes me. Fastest I got was 180mbps connected to my Asus RT-AC66U.

Range is great. Far better than my AirPort Extreme N. I've had too many disconnect issues with Asus routers in the past. Also, the 5Ghz range is so much improved that i may disconnect one or both of my Airport Expresses that are extending my network.

Hi just wanna ask... How would we be able to get the maximum speed of an AC wireless if the phone's nand storage/internal memory is having a bottleneck with IO?

This also happened to me when i did the HSUPA mod before 1.8.3 was available.
(Before reading this thread I was about to replace my SIM)
Anywhoo... Here's where it gets weirder.
I took my SIM out of my Atrix and put it into my Milestone and now I'm basically getting the same crappy speeds on my Milestone now too.

To all epic4g devs upgrading to a GS3

Why the hell would you give up your epic 4G for a galaxy S3? It has no keyboard, which you all loved. Most of you won't see 4G till 6-9 months from now. By the time 4G LTE reaches your city, the galaxy S3 will probably be cheaper then it is now. Why upgrade and pay for a LTE phone, when you can't even use the service?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Even though it might seem like the devs love the keyboard for the Epic most probably don't use it as much as they thought they would have when they purchased the Epic. There's may Epic users who still don't have wimax 4g in their areas, with the dev to flasher ratio I doubt many devs have access to wimax 4g. So, Lte coming to them in the next couple of months why should they care. The devs might still work on the Epic if they decide not to trade it in.

high end phones just don't have HWKB's anymore. it's just a sad reality that we all have to deal with, and i say this as a KB lover.
my friends, who all came up with me on BB, SK and WM phones with KB's have all gone KB-less, and they miss it, but there are no good HWKB options...
it's a sad truth, and if by the end of the year there's no high end HWKB phones, i'll be joining them, either on the next nexus or next note.

1. At the time of purchasing the Epic I was fond of the the keyboard, but I was also coming from a HTC Hero which was a much smaller phone. Since then I have grown used to the software keyboards and it's responsiveness. I have also grown annoyed with how bulky my phone is due to a hardware keyboard and how even bulkier it is when a case is put on it.
2. It's time to move on to a phone which will have a lot more developer support.
3. It's faster and better.
4. I live in San Antonio which is one of the very first areas to get LTE.

What T-Mobile plan are you on? I have no problems using the stock WiFi tethering on T-Mobile truly unlimited plan. The only thing I've ever changed in the settings is my password. I have noticed that it does sometimes take a little while to connect. After setting it up and signing on, try letting it sit for a few moments and see if it connects.

Some of you have no sense of humor at all. I laughed a lot at the comments even though it was an obvious mistake by the OP. But people love to point out how more "mature" they are than everyone else by calling them names.
OP from what I have searched through on the XDA forums it looks like T-Mobile has really locked down tethering unless you have the plan to tether. I just tried too and my tether isn't working on T-Mobile using my 2gb data plan running AOKP and the built in hotspot but experiences will vary with the data plan and if TMobile has already caught you trying.

Just tried mine using stock WiFi and settings. It's working perfectly. As I stated earlier I am on T- Mobile's truly unlimited plan. When i signed up for the plan they told me I would have no tethering, but it has always worked for me on my GNex and now the Nexus 4. I'm using stock/rooted rom and Windows 7 64 if that helps.
I think I also had to go into "Manage Wireless Networks" and delete the old existing network named AndroidAP I used on my GNex for it to work.

I do not have the M8, but it is one of the few devices with no (so far, I think) reported failures mirroring.

There is some lag but it is small, you could play games as long it wasn't to fast pace.

Ah, didn't realise you needed root, any way of achieving this for us non rooters?
Cheers (why on earth is mirroring only fot M7 not M8!?) Not a dig at thread creator, just a general query...

Nope, sorry. This requires you to modify a value in GpogleServicesFrameworks "gservices.db", which requires root.

Thanks for the quick reply, appreciate it.
I am unable to install the Binary with SQLite Installer running on HTC M8 Android Revolution HD 9.1 ROM.
Anyone know the work around? Thanks in advance.

Does mirroring work for you?
Anybody experienced know approximately the latency? Is it definitely under 300ms? Better yet is it around 100ms or ideally less? 300ms sucks and is about what most mirroring devices get even airplay. ~100ms would make a few emulated games more playable. 150+ is just way too much already as using a Bluetooth controller has it's own latency and USB controllers remedy it somewhat but that is more cumbersome than I am willing or put up with. So what's the deal yo? Are there any apps that can measure the latency?

I do not know how you would be able to effectively test the latency, but I can not as I do not have an M8. It will be my next purchase though. As soon as I get the money. I'm so done with my flip phone.

one more probably stupid question about all this
does the mirroring use up my internet data? I live in Australia and only have ****ty 100gb a month. will mirroring consume that?
