My enabler app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2812193 is receiving high success for the HTC One M8 as well as many other flagship phones unsupported by Google's new Chromecast Mirror feature. Please check it out and let me know how it works for you!

if it's excellent I'll buy a Chromecast!

I do not have the M8, but it is one of the few devices with no (so far, I think) reported failures mirroring.

There is some lag but it is small, you could play games as long it wasn't to fast pace.

Ah, didn't realise you needed root, any way of achieving this for us non rooters?
Cheers (why on earth is mirroring only fot M7 not M8!?) Not a dig at thread creator, just a general query...

Nope, sorry. This requires you to modify a value in GpogleServicesFrameworks "gservices.db", which requires root.

Does mirroring work for you?
Anybody experienced know approximately the latency? Is it definitely under 300ms? Better yet is it around 100ms or ideally less? 300ms sucks and is about what most mirroring devices get even airplay. ~100ms would make a few emulated games more playable. 150+ is just way too much already as using a Bluetooth controller has it's own latency and USB controllers remedy it somewhat but that is more cumbersome than I am willing or put up with. So what's the deal yo? Are there any apps that can measure the latency?

I do not know how you would be able to effectively test the latency, but I can not as I do not have an M8. It will be my next purchase though. As soon as I get the money. I'm so done with my flip phone.

does the mirroring use up my internet data? I live in Australia and only have ****ty 100gb a month. will mirroring consume that?

Hey
As you may or may not know me frm the One X forums, but I like designing home screens, and you can find my latest and all either in the Home screens thread in the Themes and Apps section, or on MyColorScreen
My latest there is a home screen that mimics JB 4.1 Notifications, found here
As you know, Google has released Android 4.2 JellyBean, and has implemented Native QuickSettings. Presented with a challenge, I'm going to try and mimic those Notifications too, but I'm gonna need your help. My device currently does not run JellyBean 4.2, but yours probably does, so here's what I need:
1) Download an app called 'Notif' from the Play Store
2) Create a few notifications with it, of various types
3) Take a screenshot of the notifications with these Notifications present there.
4) Take a screenshot of the Quick settings.
That's it, just 2 screenshots, of would be preferred of provided in Full Resolution (DropBox etc)
Thanks a bunch folks, hope to hear from some of you soon

Okay... Got it... I'm on the fence about it.. I need to live a day or two with it. Seems very niche driven... Not for even regular facebook users... Comes across as unnecessary at this point.
Ι have just uninstalled it.
Well it was impressive, but not for an everyday launcher. It lacks basic features and functionality in comparison with Nova i.e.
I think that it makes our phone to sort of lose its originality and "feeling", I don't know how else to put it. Anyway I'm not really that into facebook so I may be missing some of the stuff that Fb Home has to give.
Thanks to the OP in any case

My first reaction is "I doubt it" because Sprint is CDMA, but the more I think about it, it's possible. It would have to be a separate version specifically for the Sprint One though.

The double tap to wake will not be included, due to battery drain problem...HTC said that because the M8 have a coprocessor that prevent battery drain related to "idle" display (included double tap to wake and dot view cover situations)...

ElementalX kernel does that beautifully. I'm running it on my stock T-Mobile US 4.4.2 ROM.
I hope HTC keep the Camera APP customised to the HTC One (M7).
The ported Sense 6 ROMs currently use the M8's Camera APP - which does have one of the key features of the M7 - dual shot (camera and video) at the same time.
This was one of the key selling points for the HTC One (M7).
Using a ported ROM, the camera APP is good - but not for video/photos at same time, and you need to switch between different menus to be able to use either the camera or video.

ElementalX kernel does that beautifully. I'm running it on my stock T-Mobile US 4.4.2 ROM.

I don't want to flash my phone with custom Rom's or kernels (for now).
But after the Sense 6 is launched and if it will not have that feature I will be forced to do this.

I don't know about all but insertcoin does. I'd assume they do.
Sense 6 gets better battery life and the camera seems to snap pictures faster too. I like it way more than 5.5.

The sense 6 update will probably have no gestures due to it being a Soc feature, though it's possible to do it software based. The ufocus won't be there as we don't have a depth sensor.
