Im having problem getting WiFi tether working. Anyone know what setting I should be using? I also tried the build in tether without any success as well. Any help would be appreciated.

What T-Mobile plan are you on? I have no problems using the stock WiFi tethering on T-Mobile truly unlimited plan. The only thing I've ever changed in the settings is my password. I have noticed that it does sometimes take a little while to connect. After setting it up and signing on, try letting it sit for a few moments and see if it connects.

Some of you have no sense of humor at all. I laughed a lot at the comments even though it was an obvious mistake by the OP. But people love to point out how more "mature" they are than everyone else by calling them names.
OP from what I have searched through on the XDA forums it looks like T-Mobile has really locked down tethering unless you have the plan to tether. I just tried too and my tether isn't working on T-Mobile using my 2gb data plan running AOKP and the built in hotspot but experiences will vary with the data plan and if TMobile has already caught you trying.

Just tried mine using stock WiFi and settings. It's working perfectly. As I stated earlier I am on T- Mobile's truly unlimited plan. When i signed up for the plan they told me I would have no tethering, but it has always worked for me on my GNex and now the Nexus 4. I'm using stock/rooted rom and Windows 7 64 if that helps.
I think I also had to go into "Manage Wireless Networks" and delete the old existing network named AndroidAP I used on my GNex for it to work.

I have tmobile 2gb plan and using the stock nexus tether options works for me. When you first connect after turning on tether, it will say limited access, Give it couple minute and it will connect.

I have the unlimited data plan. when i try to use the stock wifi tethering i get bsod on win7. when i use the wifi tether for rooted user i keep getting errors. i am not sure what setting i need to change. i never have this issue when i had my htc amaze/sensation.

Did you remember to put your cord in the right hole port?
If your using the bottom port make sure to tether her slowly.

I officially love cm6

Cm has been stable for me so far (actually more stable than stock), my GPS works fine, my phone is so smooth you would think its tegra 2, I get 2300 on quadrant and I get 1200/3121 (yes 3000) on smartbench. Talk about fast.
Thank you so much for being a great developer, noobnl.

I noticed the call routing issue on the list of issues as well as HTTP streaming. Does the call routing issue only affect you if you are running bluetooth? Also, does the HTTP streaming affect the Pandora and Slacker radio apps? Thanks.
I haven't checked. I think Pandora doesn't work. And for calling, you have to toggle speaker and mute on outgoing calls. YouTube also doesn't work. You can set your user agent in dolphin to desktop and go on Pandora/youtube using flash and it is fine

Quick question as this is a cyanogen mod discussion I was wondering about if that fascinate 2.2 leak have any bearing on the development of CM6 for the epic? I mean was there any answers to the problems the developers have been having? I would love to flash cyanogen, I just need it phone calls, mms, and http streaming working.

T-Mobile is now making me pay

Woke up this morning and tried to jump on the net via wifi hotspots from my G2.
I got a message saying I now need to pay 14.99 extra a month for wifi hotspots feature. I called T-Mobile and the rep said he has heard of nothing of the sort.
I tried on my wife's phone and same message.
Has anyone else got this? Was useing wifi hotspots 6hr before I got this message.

Are you on the stock 2.2 ROM? just wondering.
I'm on CM7 and I've been tethering sporadically every few days, a few hundred MB here and there. At most maybe 1GB per month and I dont have any issues.
What's ur data per month usage look like? That could be another thing, I rarely go over 3GB, usually keeping in the 2GB range.
Nope not on stock Rom. I've tried on stock/cm7/mexdroid/sense/ stock GB.
All get the same message.
Last month was the first month I went over in a year. I'm only at a little more the 1gb right now.

I just tested by connecting my TF to the G2 and all is well here. CM7.
I went to 4.5GB one time. I'm sure if they are viewing my phone's details, they can clearly see that I'm tethering. No problem yet though.
Try a thrid party app and not the built in wifi tether. I don't think that can be blocked out. I do about 4gigs a month and stop using pandora.

I had this same problem about a year ago. If you're over your 4GB limit, then it'll ask you to pay. If you're under you should be fine. Some TMo reps are uneducated about their jobs.

[ROM][AOSP] ICS build for Nexus S - v2 [WIP]
+++DOWNLOADS+++
v1
WIFI patch (flash with v1)
Fix for 'Roaming Indicator Off'
v2
Kernels that seem to work fine:
Matr1x
franco.Kernel
GLaDOS
Want to try, but don't know how? ACS member qbking77 decided to take that extra step and provide a how to video-tutorial on the subject.
Due to many users having problems with wifi/calls/reboots, I decided to post what I did and what seems to work. I am using TWRP not CWM, but I'm guessing the menus are very similar.
+++V2 Install Instructions:+++
Boot into your recovery of choice
Navigate to: Advanced Menu>Format Menu
Format /System
Format /Data
Format /Cache
Back to Advanced Menu
Back to Main Menu
Install Zip
Choose Zip Files To Flash
Select v2 Rom and Fix for 'Roaming Indicator Off'
Wipe Dalvik and Cache
Flash Zips Now
Reboot to System
If that doesn't solve your problem, XDA user blacknet101 found these instructions to do the trick.
Change your carrier text (where it says Sprint on the notification drop down) to what ever you want. Courtesy of XDA member fergie716.

Love this ROM. Don't use 4G so it's not a deal breaker for me. Works very smooth, especially after changing the CPU governor to performance.
Btw, 4G isn't supposed to work. This is a port of the GNex source code and there aren't specific files for WiMAX since the Nexus S 4g specific source code isn't out yet

N7105 on uk 3

Hi guys
I've had my note 2 a couple of months and love it but I'm starting to get that flashing feeling.
I've run custom rooms on previous phone and also my nexus10.
Has anyone on here Flashed a custom Rom into a uk n7105 using the 3 network. I regularly use tethering and love the fast download speeds. How have you found custom roms?
Thanks

Hey
im on the same network and phone, ive come from the note 1 which i flashed regularly, but haven't felt the need to try custom roms on the note 2, the stock rom works as i expected it to, wasn't the case with the n1, still a great phone.
here's the 2 stock roms ive tried, DMG1 being the latest, and for me there's a noticeable improvement, not huge but its snappier.

I have exactly the same setup and use phone for similar things, been using moon rom for the past 2 weeks. Great on battery, great for network speeds constantly up at around 15/16mb in a decent reception. Lots of modes but i use the standard resolution, if you opt for it dont forget to copy the systemui.apk over to the device from the rar to the device to get the taskbar on as theres a bug with the installer!

WIFI HACK

Do anyone know the app that can successfully hack wifi password. If possible kindly comment the link also.

To crack a WiFi password you need to use packet injection, which your phone isn't capable of doing. There is no app for this.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
There's not an app to do that. You can however run backtrack through a Linux emulator. I think the app is called complete Linux installer, and there's a guide on how to run backtrack on there for testing WiFi security.
easier to sneak into neighbors house and press the WPS button on their router haha
Pay for your own internet, thief! (or go to starbucks)
The Nokia N900 used to be pretty good little security tool for hacking! Google it! Sure you can still pick them up for a reasonable price! Should have kept mine

Illegal activities are not condoned on this forum for obvious reasons. If you're testing your own security, that's a different story. You need monitor mode at least, which has been tested on some chipsets, but not this one I believe.

There are lots of apps for hacking wifi but you must delete the stupid protection files that prevent you from doing so. Root your phone, then use root explorer to navigate to /system and /data
Delete all those files and reboot, then I'll instruct you on the rest. You're welcome

There are lots of apps for hacking wifi but you must delete the stupid protection files that prevent you from doing so. Root your phone, then use root explorer to navigate to /system and /data
Delete all those files and reboot, then I'll instruct you on the rest. You're welcome

Btw, for best results, try overcolocking your CPU. 5ghz gives the best results. The phone may be hot but the wifi crack will work 100%
