Was snooping around the Nexus S General (now moved to Nexus S Dev) section and found and flashed this. Works great!

[ROM][AOSP] ICS build for Nexus S - v2 [WIP]
+++DOWNLOADS+++
v1
WIFI patch (flash with v1)
Fix for 'Roaming Indicator Off'
v2
Kernels that seem to work fine:
Matr1x
franco.Kernel
GLaDOS
Want to try, but don't know how? ACS member qbking77 decided to take that extra step and provide a how to video-tutorial on the subject.
Due to many users having problems with wifi/calls/reboots, I decided to post what I did and what seems to work. I am using TWRP not CWM, but I'm guessing the menus are very similar.
+++V2 Install Instructions:+++
Boot into your recovery of choice
Navigate to: Advanced Menu>Format Menu
Format /System
Format /Data
Format /Cache
Back to Advanced Menu
Back to Main Menu
Install Zip
Choose Zip Files To Flash
Select v2 Rom and Fix for 'Roaming Indicator Off'
Wipe Dalvik and Cache
Flash Zips Now
Reboot to System
If that doesn't solve your problem, XDA user blacknet101 found these instructions to do the trick.
Change your carrier text (where it says Sprint on the notification drop down) to what ever you want. Courtesy of XDA member fergie716.

Yeah I don't get why its not in development either. I tried it too. Pretty stable.

Ya weird that it isn't in here. You know if 4G is working?

Downloading now.... will report back... I'm skeptical about the 4g working though.

I can't download from the link..what's the trick here? Says its his first XDA post so couldn't post in development but I can't click on the multiupload link....wtf???EDIT....nevermind...figured it out. Downloading now. Looks like an all nighter for me

Been running this for an hour....runs perfect love it (aside from the known issues) its awesome
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App

Runs stable but I couldn't find any 4g settings. I'm guessing its not there yet. Ended up reverting back to 2.3.7 after my phone overheated. Ill mess with it more later in the week when I have more time. Looks really good though!
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium

No overheating here. Definitely a different experience than the SDK port. Still trying to determine if Wifi patch works. Word prediction on keyboard is impressive. Looks amazing to me
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium

Love this ROM. Don't use 4G so it's not a deal breaker for me. Works very smooth, especially after changing the CPU governor to performance.
Btw, 4G isn't supposed to work. This is a port of the GNex source code and there aren't specific files for WiMAX since the Nexus S 4g specific source code isn't out yet

Can't get screenshots to save. Don't think my memory is full. Have to check here...

it's not in the dev part because the developer hasn't enough messages to post in this section.
The ICS ROM post was his first post.
Cheers from 3G section

absolutely loving this rom

Did anyone go into system settings/Developer Options and enable 2d hardware acceleration? I did and the phone feels faster to me. Edit..can make things not as smooth

2 questions. Anyone know how to turn the roam indicator on? And is there away to update g maps?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk

Omg. Can't wait to get home from work . In your opinion is this a daily guys? I don't have 4g in my area so it no deal breaker for me.

[OFFTOPIC] Introducing myself

Hello, my names Jacob I'm going to join the nexus s community, my phone is being shipped as we speak. I'm leaving the EVO 4g. I really hope I don't regret it. Sorry if its off topic, just want to meet some developers.

But a mod is going to move this hehehe

Welcome aboard, themes and apps, general, q&a, and general are for either phone. The development section is split for 4g and the nexus s for obvious reasons. Congratulations on your move, I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the speed increase leaving sense behind among other things

Welcome to the forums Jacob. I came from the iPhone 2G to the 3G to the 3GS to the 4. I loved iPhones. I switched to the aria ans fell in love with android. I then went to the captivate then the Atrix. Loved android but the phones just didn't have that.... "spark" I was looking for. So I oredered the Nexus S. Ill never use another phone again. I'm a nexus user forever now. You'll not be displeased at all bro. These are THE android to own

sorry just vanilla android, which is what you have before all the manufacturers put the unneeded skin and fiddle with the frame works to make their phones different from one another(these same modification also hinder the speed up that their phones can be updated from each android release)
Its funny actually all these great developers here can get the source code the day its out make a almost fully functioning rom/port while these big name companies stumble around for god knows how long to make an update when they have full access to the drivers and such
While I will admit from froyo to gingerbread was nothing monumental in way of adding lots functionality but security updates those were needed(still waiting to use my nfc to buy sodas from teh coke machines in the mall though)
Enjoy your nexus

welcome, and you have definitely made a good choice, it will last you forever, or until some accident happens
this is the best phone you can get at the moment, with the most development going on around it
however the only shortcoming of this phone is the missing MicroSD support.
i keep constantly running out of space, it's driving me mad

Lets see your ICS homescreens!!!

I think homescreen setups are just as varied and interesting as all the roms that are available. Lets see what yours looks like!!!

I think the problem is that the data and the stack pointer gets overflowed [corrupted] at that point, which is why its only 3MP at the time being...it can get to be working with more manipulation.

Could be somewhat kernel related as well. We had to get a custom kernel modified for it to boot so we might need a different one to get it fully functional

Well that too, but that was more of the electronics part of the camera when it actually takes the picture and then tries to store it in flash memory; I'm sure the kernel will need more tweaking, and since they used the tiamat kernel, I'm happy.
