hey there.
i got my N7 from Frys Electronics, dope store.
when i turned on the first time, made all the setup, just that i didnt link my google account, when the setup was complete, i decided to open google play store app, it asked me my google account, so i went thru, existing/mail/password/next ... and the final product was, CANT STABLISH A RELIABLE CONNECTION BLA BLA BLA, all the times i tried, i decided to try in chrome app, got the same issue, maps, settings/accounts, and the same problem.
Wifi was on, connected in a network, but the wifi symbol was gray.
I can surf thru chrome in differents pages also watch videos on youtube app, BUT, facebook and twitter gave me a chrome error, 102, cant stablish connection, as well i tried to signed in google play thru chrome app and i got the same issue, cant stablish connection.
update the google play app thru chrome app dowloading the 4.1.10 apk, and i got the same problem.
im running 4.2.2 stock android system, cant figure it out, whats going on.
My network
adsl company router ---> di link 524, i connected the N7 to both wifi signals and the result was the same cant stablish ñaca ñaca. (wifi gray symbol)
So i wonder: My network is the problem, the N7 is busted up, bugs on android. Please help me out guys.
N7
bootloader lock
unroot
android 4.2.2 stock
like a virgin.
of course im a noob, so i cant paste the youtube video showing the problem.
It's the router that is not allowing the Nexus 7 to connect to Google's servers. So that's why the signal is gray.

So it seems I cant connect to google servers using my works wifi "grey wifi bars" but im able to use browser and just about everything else. Is there a certain setting or settings that need to be set to connect to them ? I tried stopping and clearing google services framework, reboot but that's a no go. Tried using a static ip still a no go. Also tried playing with different wifi security settings "wpa/wpa2 psk" but nothing seems to work. If i connect to my phone it works perfect as well as at home. Anyone have any suggestions ?
Just guessing.. but it sounds like a security thing with your work network not allowing the connection instead of a tablet problem.Talk to your network guy at work. jmo
I randomly started having this same issue today at home.
All of my other devices are connected to google servers (TF101, GNex) just not my N7. Very strange.
Found the solution to this problem. It looks like since my battery had died, the date and time was reset to December 31,1999 and this was preventing me from connecting to Google servers.
Change to date and time to today and you should immediately connect.
My date is correct so it's gotta be something else maybe a port or something I'm missing I just don't know what. I also when I switch my Nexus to wifi at work it aso happens as well

Ok I have been using the nexus 7 for a few months now, flashing roms no problems. Now all the sudden, ONLY when connected to WIFI, I can browse the internet fine, but once I go to stream video from youtube or download app updates from google play, it hangs indefinitely and either times out or says cant connect to server.. I am also experiencing this on my Galaxy S3 phone. BUT, I am not having ANY problems whatsoever on my laptop (also connected via WIFI) I have all port forwarding to my router for google play, and still no go. Reset router, no go. Turned off all devices and restart them, no go. This is the by far the weirdest problem I think I ever had. Oh I also on both devices cleared the cache of google play and even uninstalled updates so it had to redo itself. STILL, no go. I have stock rom on the phone, and SmoothRom v5.0 on the nexus 7. My girlfriends S3 is untouched in the rooting aspect at all and she is even having update problems... Someone PLEASE help !!!!!
ok guys so this might get a little confusing but please bear with me, ive just moved house and with i had to switch from virgin media to BT for my internet which got turned on to day but now i cant update or download any apps from the play store while connected to my internet (i have the new bt home hub 4 if that helps) but if i connect to my neighbors bt open zone all apps download and update just fine?? ive tried rebooting my rooter, removing my gmail account and re adding it and clearing the data from the market too, but it isnt just my t300 it my nexus 7 and my wifes nexus 7 and my htc sensation too, there all doing the same thing.
edit:i just checked my phone and google chrome updated but nothing else so i checked my tf300 and that will update chrome too but no others apps that ive tried will update or download?? any ideas what would be causing this
I think I would go to my neighbor and compare settings. What is a hub 4? Do you have a separate router or is it built-in to the hub 4? Since all your devices work with your neighbor's wifi it points to a router issue on your end. Can you browse the internet with Chrome? Have you tried WPA/WPA2/PSK or no encryption on the router (don't even bother with WEP).
home hub 4 is a router and modem you get from bt when you use there internet, but the internet works perfect for browsing and downloading but just not from the play store and its set up as wpa/wpa2 i might try removing the encryption see if that helps

Is anyone else having issues with the 6P or just Marshmallow in general of not being able to connect to any wifi?
think that means connected to network but no internet available
Did you try connecting to a different Wifi network and see if you are having the same issue? I did not see an issue. Might be your router or modem is blocking internet access for your device.

Yes, I tried connecting to multiple wifi networks and it's showing the same thing: "connected, no internet". When I try with another device or laptop, it connects fine to all those wifi networks. It's just my Nexus 5 and 6P running Marshmallow.
I searched around and tried to use a static IP, also changed the frequency band from automatic to 2.4 GHz. Nothing works.
Go to Backup and reset and try a reset on network settings and see if that resolves the issue.
OK, this is interesting. I just found out from a colleague of mine (I'm currently traveling in China), that this is basically saying you are connected to the Internet, but just not to any of the Google services. I just checked and it seems everything pretty much works, except I can't access gmail, Facebook, etc. anything that's blocked by the Great Firewall of China.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your phone and select phone information & select run ping test and see if it pings google services. It should have been defaulted to Google, atleast it is on myn.
I'm running into the same issue, but I'm in the US. No WiFi network works. And I don't actually have internet.
The odd thing is all my other devices connect to the networks just fine.
I already tried resetting network settings, and rebooting in safe mode, to no avail. I even reset my router to stock and reconfigured.
Anyone else having similar issues?

Facebook says no Internet
Google Play Store seems quite slow at loading pics
Strava not loading map pics
Imdb not loading pics
Basically... Apps seem to be having pic loading problems

Oh bottom wrong nexus model... I'm sorry... Didn't notice ?
Sorted it... was my wifi... I changed the channel settings to Auto Performance, then back to Auto Compatibility, and all working again now
Wanted to add for what it's worth: I had the exclamation point on any wifi I connected to and fixed the exclamation point by disabling Adblock Plus.
I've been getting the WiFi exclamation point also. Would AdBlock Plus cause that?

yes ad block was causing it for me too.
i disabled ad blocking from the app, froze the app from titanium backup, removed root access to adblockplus from super su and rebooted and everything is working fine now
Same problem here.
Hard reset and nothing.
The weird thing is that in my house works just fine (5 ghz)
Also, google alread knows

Nexus 6p in China
I am in China. 6P wifi / internet hook up worked fine with Comcast in the US. When I arrived in China I could connect to wifi but it reported no internet access. Went to a Huawei store and they tried hooking up to their local wifi. Same thing - no internet access but connection to wifi made. They sent me to a Huawei testing center 10 minutes away. Got there, the same thing. They could connect with their local wifi but no internet interface. Then they told me they had no permissions to work this phone because it was not authorized inside China. I asked if they could research why it the internet won't connect. They put in a Chinese sim card. WHAM - They could log into the wifi and get internet. Next I tried VPN to see if there was some kind of work around but no avail - VPN needs the internet. The best thing I could I could was to call my service provider to bump up my roaming data speed (Be careful about roaming plan you have - cost $$$$). I have minimal internet access through phone but its not blocked - I can get google.
try fixing ur time
I wasn't sure where to put this, but the issue started with the nexus player, so I figured I'd try here.
My girlfriend and I were watching a TV series on netflix, on my nexus player, when it started having a connection problem. I've had my nexus for about 6 months and have never had an issue with it before.
I can get onto netflix on the nexus player, and browse the titles, but as soon as I try to play something, it tells me my device may not be connected to the internet. If I do the network test, it shows a good test for all 3 netflix servers, and the internet connection. I can watch netflix on my laptop just fine over wifi, but of course, if I try to stream the tab.... it opens the netflix app which says it can't connect. (I tried uninstalling the netflix app and streaming the tab, but it just tells me I need to install the netflix app)
Finally I tried installing netflix on my galaxy S5, and it also wouldn't stream anything, until I turned off wifi.... then it worked fine. I have tried everything I can think of and have read to try to fix this. I've changed my router to send default ISP DNS servers to devices, I've tried setting google DNS servers, I've checked time zone settings, I've cleared netflix app data, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've done a factory reset.... nothing will work.
If it's an issue with router settings, I don't understand why it works fine on my laptop. I had made no changes to my network or any of my devices' configuration when it stopped working.
Does anyone have any idea why this would only affect android devices, and only over my wifi? I have no idea what else to try.

You cleared app data, what about the app cache? Also do you happen to be using a vpn service like unblock-us, I had a similar issue one time when my region had been changed from usa to uk on the website and then it was telling me I couldn't connect. Good luck.

Yeah when you clear data, it also clears the cache. I also uninstalled and reinstalled, and even did factory reset. I'd never had it on my phone until today and no go there... .and like I said, only on WiFi. Yet it works fine on my laptop over WiFi. On my Galaxy S5 it works on cellular fine. This is the weirdest issue I've ever run into.
I've worked as a computer/network tech since 2005, and while I may not be the most knowledgeable guy around, I can usually figure out any network related issue... but I don't know what the difference would be between the android apps and the browser app. I figure if it's not the app it would have to be something with my router/firewall... but I have no idea what.
UPDATE
It's definitely something to do with my router config. I have the same router/access point set up at home as we have at work, and we also have the same internet plan aside from this being a business account. But it's the same ISP, and same Up/Down speed. I just tried it at work over wifi on my phone and it works fine.
It could also be your ISP. Business account traffic is treated differently than residential account.
Ok I got it fixed. I still have no idea what the hell the problem was. I couldn't find any firewall rules that could have caused the issue. Nothing had changed in my set up and it just suddenly stopped working in the middle of watching one day. I considered the ISP being an issue, but my girlfriend also has COX internet, and she had no issues at her house on her blue ray player or phone on her wifi, and like I said before... it still worked on my laptop at home.
I think some kind of bug just popped up in pfsense. I did a factory reset on it and now everything's working fine. Still the weirdest issue I've ever encountered. It still worked fine on my laptop, but not on any android (on wifi), or maybe mobile and not android was the factor? I don't own apple products so I couldn't test that.
