Stuck with no OS.Please help. - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

okay my n7 wifi tab is currently stuck with no os.i accidentally wiped everything out in recovery and no toolkit is working.its not downloading and installing the files to extract and install correctly.please help me before i break this thing.thanks in advance

stop using a toolkit.
use adb to push a rom zip to your device
OR
use fastboot to flash stock google images to device
if it doesnt work there, you will at least get an indication of what the problem is.

so you still didnt learn anything out of this ordeal...

I am guessing you still dont know what the toolkit does in the background though....
THAT is what I was referring to. Toolkits are whats wrong with the Nexus forums these days. Kids dont want to learn anything on a DEVELOPERS forum...

well i was trying to learn developement but due to the fact that my satellite p755-s5393 i7 octo-core does not play nice with linux's wifi, i cant learn developement as of yet. so therefore i choose not to learn it, yet.
oh and instead of being sarcastic about things it would be a lot better for help and knowledge not bs. thank you anyway though.
trying to make yourself known as what it does and how to develop, enlighten a few, not throw us to the wolves. have a good evening.

Yeah. OK. I tried helping you and you ignored the advice. Good luck 'learning development'
I do hope you comprehend the irony of your entire thread before responding.
Wants to learn development.
Uses a toolkit.
Also you could man up and get your WiFi working in Linux (I haven't seen a chip that just won't work in Linux) or you could use a VM to learn. Since you know, you had to tell us what a badass laptop you have, it should support a VM nicely.

I think that Pirateghost has a point with regard to toolkits...
@podagee.. you really do need to get used to using fastboot/ADB and similar command line interfaces, and subsequently eschew toolkits. Particularly if you want to get involved in development work.
But I also 'feel' that @Pirateghost has become somewhat jaded and cynical with regard to beginners, who perhaps just need a bit of a helping hand. (Not that I'm saying you didn't give it here, Pirateghost).
I'm not having a go at you, Pirateghost... in fact, I enjoy reading your frequent scathing and withering comments (oft times, they make me laugh out loud)... but everybody was a beginner once - even yourself, some nearly 7,800 posts ago.
Just my thoughts anyway... (don't mean to irritate anybody).
Rgrds,
Ged.

Oh I never noticed you were trying to help, next time be helpful not stupid. You have no points. Read your own posts before you post more. Of course I can get my WiFi working, but, I don't have the time. I go on a 6 month vacation in 3 days, so I really, honestly don't have the time. Thanks for all the helpful input pirate it didn't help at all. Now....I'm sure we all have better things to do

Reread my first post in this thread and tell me I wasn't trying to point you in the right direction.

You called me stupid and said I wasn't trying to help. I have a feeling you don't even understand the words you are typing. I think I will go talk to my 9 yr old son for a better conversation. Have a good day.

Maybe you should talk to your 9year old son since he's on your level, haha.take it easy pirateghost. You actually sparked some interest with me, so, I went ahead and read about toolkits and adb and fast boot. You should of put your words into better terms, not so sarcastic, but, I eventually read about what you were saying, or trying to say. Now I see that adb and fast boot are in fact way better and more reliable than any toolkits. Thanks for the motivation to read

That's all I want people to do.
THINK and READ.
You learn better that way.
Ponder this for a moment. If I were not so abrasive and annoying would you have done any of that reading? Or would you have just gone on about your business and put your blinders on?
Sometimes you have to goad people to get them to act and respond. I don't mind making some enemies to get a point across.
I am glad you took the time to learn the basic tools of the trade.

No enemies made here my bradda..I get frustrated with people of your kind ,but, if that's what helps us learn then so be it. Thank you for the tough love pirate ghost.

i just don't get it?

you know i was just reviewing the tp2 section of xda, the android section i should say. i see they have a port of ubutnu for the phone now. i guess i just don't get as to why you would want it? sorta the same with us hero users wanting to try out debian on our phones? whats the point of it?
if i were a touchpro2 "and i was very briefly" user id want a full port of android like the vogue users had. i mean what zen, dzo & mission were able to do to that dying phone to breath new life into it is outstanding and deserves total respect and applause from all of us.

If I were a Touch Pro 2 owner, and I actually was for a very brief period, I'd want a full port of Android, much like the Vogue users had.
I don't get what you are trying to say....
@ubuntu, the TP2 has a physical keyboard so ubuntu would be much more practical then on the hero.
@android port for TP2, ummmmm who cares about the TP2? I used dzo's android port for a long time and I greatly respect everything that they have accomplished. It truly is amazing.
I agree.

The sole reason I didn't get the TP2 was the fact it was running WinMo.
WinMo has to be the worst phone UI ever, why the heck would anyone want to use a stylus to navigate the UI. Nevermind the fact I've never heard one positive review of Windows Mobile as far as speed was concerned.

my point was having a port of ubuntu is stupid IMO, id rather have a fully working android port that could be flashed to nand like the vogue users have. got it now?
I dunno if I had a TP2 and then upgraded to something else but still had my old TP2 laying around. I would most likely put something like ubuntu on it for ****s and giggles.
fixxxer,
wow, you've graduated from useless personal opinion posts to starting whole new useless personal opinion threads. Way to go man, you're really making progress. Congratulations.
I might have a couple ideas as to why someone would attempt to run ubuntu, debian or just about anything else on their phone:
1. just because
2. it's a challenge just to see if you can do it
3. It's fun
4. did I mention "just because"
Just a heads up: your frustration over not having the skills to do these things yourself is showing...muffintop

what crawled up your ass? what just because i posted an opinion about that app you helped create? the point of a message board is to create, help and debate. all i did was give an opinion, there is no reason for you to get all worked up. it's not like i said it was useless.
Actually, man, if you leave out the first and last paragraphs and just read his list, he answered your question perfectly. The fact that you don't get it says s lot. This is, at its base, a community of hackers (or hacker wannabes, like me). Half the reason we do ANYTHING with our phones is because we can. Just for the sheer unadulterated HELL OF IT! Kinda like choosing to do themes the hard way yourself, rather than using metamorph. The fact that some of what we do makes our phones more functional is sometimes almost secondary to the feeling of having got your hands dirty and done something yourself. It is the same thing that drives people to DIY rather than just buying the finished product at the store...even when you might have saved a buck and some time just dropping the cash.

In an attempt to bring this thread back around to topic and stop some of the bickering:
The reasons I see for doing something like installing Debian or Ubuntu on a phone are pretty simple:
1. To see what is possible
2. To find out what your are capable of
3. To find out what the device is capable of
4. To do something that no one else around you has done
In other words, why not?

Sometimes the purpose is the trip not the destination. That's how I feel about hacking our phones, anyway. 90% of the time, I don't really need to be able to access my desktop and take control of it through VNC, but the fact that I can makes me really happy. I don't need to be able to stream HD movies on my phone, but the fact that I will be able to with the evo has me excited. What color flashes on the screen when i tap an app doesn't really make a flying fvck in the long run, but I like the glassy blue, so I rip into every rom I download and change it. To me, that is the why that answers your initial question. To someone for whom the end functionality is the ultimate goal, the this may not make any sense, but to someone else who enjoys the process of creation and tinkering, the opposite might be true. And in a community of devs and hackers, i think you are likely to find as many or more of the latter than the former.

[GUIDE] How to fix a softbrick

Your phone softbricked, Here is how to fix it!
1. if you are on 1.8.3, download the following file
http://www.mediafire.com/?xm487o3ljjhdmh7 (thank unknown_ for it)
2. creat a folder and put the file in it.
3 download fastboot from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138092
4. put fastboot on the same folder you created on step 2
4.1 enter fastboot on your phone
(reboot your phone while holding volume down, when fastboot appear on screen press up)
4.2 open a console in that folder (windows users hold left shift and right click, the click on the pull up menu on start command right here)
6 then type. fastboot flash boot CG56.img
7 for good messure type fastboot -w (this will whipe your data, sometimes it wont boot your phone unless you wipe data)
8. fastboot reboot
if you are on 2.3.4 you can find the boot.img in the same thread as fastboot.
Thanks for this, I know a few will need it.
Thanks for fixing this kholk, I knew you could do it!

the one person that it worked for was trolling yall, this will not work. this is made iwth an older, way older 3 versions behind 1.8.3 kernel source, this woudnt work if you lit it on fire. [edit] kholks kernel that is.
but yes, no problems, i figure a how to guide on how to fix it would be a nice thing, you see even tho yall hate me, im gonna SHARE!
If kholk really did post a bogus kernel he should be **** kicked. Not to mention, perma banned from XDA-DEV.

Unless there is some mysterious solution none of us have yet discovered, it doesn't work. Shockingly similar to his OC module and kexec module. Fortunately, neither of the first two caused people to softbrick their phones

Nope not attempting to Troll at all, I feel his title is though. I don't know kholk at all but he seems to know his stuff especially when it comes to the Tegra2 platform. He does seem to be poor at is full instructions or descriptions but it is also listed as version 0.1, to me thats not even Beta yet. So although it may not work right now for all we know at this point there could be a simple fix.
My point was simply don't attack someone because you rushed in to something without fully understanding or with the idea that it will work 100% when no claim was made to that. Offering to help others who made the same mistake is fine & admirable but does it have to come with sarcasm and veiled insults?

Holy hell guys.... Anyone who's already tried to flash this without a FULL understanding of what it is/does - and HOW to correctly install it deserves the soft-brick they got... You chose to flash something untested and unverified. Live with the consequences! Its funny to sit back and watch people JUMP and claw at this stuff to be the first person to have it and get it working - then piss and moan when something doesnt work. I find it hilarious actually lol. The only person to blame is yourself for flashing blindly

I was probably the 2nd person to flash this... I didn't piss & moan.. I was understandably anxious when my phone soft bricked, but I fully understood the risk. But someone had to be the first, someone had to test it... I didn't go bashing Kholk on his own thread, I asked questions of what to do, and thanked the one who directed me to the CG56.img file. After that I again questioned to see if anyone had successfully flashed the kernel. I have since requested a moderator temporarily close the thread until the Dev can update and/or correct the OP, or answer questions posted on his thread.
How many views does it take for thread to be locked? (Hint: it's over 9000)
The download link is down, Can someone kindly post another.
Cheers
Two questions from a complete idiot (me) if you please.
1. What is Soft Brick? I mean, what is the state of phone called Soft Brick?
I understand the Hard Brick (RIP state) is the phone totally unbootable.
2. The above procedure works only for a unlocked boot loader or with the locked also?

Rooting failed

Man I have tried everything for this rooting thing. Terminal cant find the cd/sdcard/root. Tried the gfree method also..and nothing. Im about to give up on this rooting thing unless theres a better way man. Guys help me out!

If you are running the stock gb there isn't a way to root it yet.
The only Exploit that so far works is fre3vo but only for temp root.
No not OTA it bought it like this..so I can't?? This is bs..i want to use other ROMS already

If you're on 2.3.4 then you have to downgrade to froyo and then root your phone there. I'd link to the how to but I can't right now. Search the threads here in general or q&a, this has been answered for a few people already really recently.
Ran into the thread I was mentioning just now so figured I'd give you the link. Again, this is only if you're on Android 2.3.4 aka Gingerbread.

If you are running 2.2.1 what the problem is input error.
it's
cd /sdcard/root
Cee Dee [space] forward slash sdcard forward slash root
and i might sound like a complete jack wagon here but i don't care.
IF you cannot follow simple instructions like how to root your device. Esp this device then i would highly suggest staying away from the rooting ring. This is not for the faint of heart. This is not for the people who have no clue what they are doing. This is for well educated people who know and understand the basics and the risk there of. If you should get into a pickle, you are the only that will be able to get you out of it.
Just a question. Do you know if you have a good or bad eMMC chip? you know the bad ones are pretty much a handwritten guarantee that your phone will brick.

Do you know if you have a good or bad eMMC chip? you know the bad ones are pretty much a handwritten guarantee that your phone will brick.

wow, I guess you were never new, just knew everything you ever needed to know right off the bat right? How about instead of getting preachy and climbing onto your high horse next time you just help the user out.
It really annoys me how some users here seem to think they can just belittle anyone they feel like it when it comes to rooting questions, they take the "I am better then you and you're an idiot for asking questions" stance instead of simply helping them out and guiding them through the process. If you don't have the time or want to help out someone who asks a question do the board a favor and just move on.

I did answer the question, and help the OP out. Or did you not read my entire statement?
So basically what i did annoys you, but you did the same thing. The only difference is i offered help to the OP. You didn't. Your issue with me could of been addressed via PM. instead of clogging up their their thread with nothing that pertains to the question at hand.
If treating the OP like a 3 year old then going on a tangent over intelligence levels is helping then I suppose you did.
But you are correct I shouldn't have clogged up the forum with a post and no I don't like the current attitude some users have here, it needs to be addressed.

If you want the forum to remain alive and valuable source of information - then your "good Samaritan" attitude, while nice, is doing a horrible job. If you want the forum to become a mess of things with valuable info hidden below lots of trash, zillions of same questions asked and very few proper answers given - then by all means, continue preaching good attitude. I believe you know what is said about good intentions.
I've seen moderator interventions on such threads, and I kinda agree with the point I've seen. While welcoming, this is XDA-Developers, not XDA-Phone-users, and the forum name says it the best. As in any developer forum, RTFM should be rightfully expected from users.
But we hijacked someone's thread.
On the other hands, during the last months were at least 2 more threads with the same question, so we won't do anyone a disservice by keeping the thread up

I would say u need to be a bit careful wid blackrose. Cos its not as easy like flashing a rom. I would recommend you to go thru the blackrose thread carefully to make things clear. If u get any doubts u can ask it and clear things out

There should be CLEAR instructions in the OP of the Blackrose thread. This **** is ridiculous.
What do I need? Do I need the Android SDK? If I do, can I install it on a seperate drive? I don't need ****e clogging up my SSD. No one has stated I need the SDK, hence why I haven't bothered with it. If it is needed, then my point about none of it being CLEAR is reinforced.
Been trying to figure this **** out for hours. Seen countless numbers of posts with people trying to give instructions. I try these things to find that I have missed something because I can't complete a step or some other problem.
And did I mention how helpful the installation video was in the OP? Really good stuff, that.
Any actual help will be appreciated. Gonna jump off the nearest cliff if someone suggests to read through the thread again. Which seems to be the only thing that people like to tell others in these "help" threads.
Cheers.

Do you know what the SDK is? If not, maybe you should read up on what it is and why you would need it.
No, you do not need the SDK installed. You do need the drivers for your device installed though, both for fastboot and normal mode.

Hours? When I got my first smartphone many years ago, I spend months lurking around this site trying to take in as much knowledge as I could before even attempting to flash anything. I wanted to make sure that I understood everything I was doing before doing it -- I did not want to blindly follow someone's step by step.

This is much more helpful. My apologies.
If I were the one creating these sorts of things for others (and myself,) I'd very much like it to be as simple as possible for the end-user. I'd like as much support as possible and I would be isolating the majority by making it more difficult than it could be. I shouldn't need a developer's knowledge to be able to take advantage of a developer's work.
I'm sure I just missed something simple. It wasn't the drivers. After I installed them and tried the Blackrose exe again, it stops at "waiting for device." Read through some of the thread, not understanding half of it, as you would expect, and didn't come across anything that could have helped me with my problem.
Any ideas?

I think what you posted above is where the problem is. People here are not creating things here for others. They are developing something, and sharing it with others.
And I guess, you didn't read the comment in the link in my previous post. Otherwise, it probably would have been more clear.
I'm not trying to insult. On the contrary, I am trying to help you figure it out, not have someone figure it out for you, in the spirit of xda-developers, not xda-support-desk.

It's funny, but I remember more than one individual having the same issue in the Blackrose thread. And I remember mentioning to at least one individual that they could try to flash Blackrose manually, instead of using the installer. But maybe you missed that. Or did you not read the entire thread?

lol, seriously?
There are 956 posts in the Blackrose thread alone. Expecting someone to read EVERY single post and absorb all of that information at one time is a bit proposterous. I'd bet it'd take a good 3-4 hours to just read that single thread.
I'm not saying we should spoon feed the newbs (especially the ones who can't follow simple instructions, like not posting a question in a forum with a big sticky at the top that explicitly says "WARNING - DO *NOT* POST QUESTIONS IN THIS FORUM - only tips/info/etc."), but at what point do we say... hey, this is how you do it, these 900 posts don't matter, or are outdated, or are duplicate questions...

I WAS being serious. Maybe it's just me, but I like learning, and I like helping those who like to learn. And don't tell me it's because people don't have time to read them...I work 60-70 hours a week, take post-graduate classes, raise 3 kids (which includes going to soccer games, homework, skating and dance lessons), and I still have time to read some threads, write up some guides, and help others.
If I want to flash something, I read the entire thread, so I learn from others' mistakes. When I had my Nexus One and I wanted Blackrose, I read every post in that Blackrose thread, up until I replaced the N1. I guess I have a hard time understanding someone who doesn't, and then complains that the guides should be better, and saying "this $%!& is ridiculous".
One of the things people need to develop skills for, if they're doing anything technical, is SEARCH. It helps a lot to filter out the crap, because it's indeed impossible or at least unreal to read threads of 300+ replies. But searching helps. Noobs should start working on their google-fu.
I agree that Blackrose thread isn't the simplest around. But just think - it's not more and not less, but bootloader replacement! The very thing that noobs SHOULD NOT TOUCH until they understand what they're doing.
So, the first response should be - if you don't understand how to do something, STAY AWAY UNTIL YOU DO. And indeed, go vent somewhere else. This isn't a forum for pleasing users.

[Q] rooting a Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 SM-T230NU in Linux

Hi all, new here and having a bit of trouble...
I just got a Galaxy tab 4 (SM-T230NU) and I've been trying to find some way to root it... I'm using Manjaro Linux (an Arch Linux Variant) so most of the windows tools are out (believe me I have tried them, both under WINE and in Win7 in VirtualBox... seems no matter what I do I can't connect to the devices that way)
I wanted to try heimdall, I downloaded it and installed it, and even tried doing a root with it, but the posts I've read say I need recovery.img and cache.img (I think it was) and all I have from the Odin/TWRP package is the recovery.img...
So, where can I get the proper firmware files to use with Heimdall to root this thing? Would be very nmice to get them all in a single package that Heimdall can simply open and use, but if need be, I can extract them and enter them one at a time manually... (please if poossible, include some instructions about which files need to go where in Heimdall... I think I know, but I would like to be 100 percent surew)
And thanks

surely somebody knows something about where to get these files... sorry if there's a listing here someplace, I've searched and not found it, so if I missed it, please supply a link at least...

Ok, well, I guess I've asked the wrong question, or people here are just assholes, because nobody is even bothering to answer me at all...
Funny, even people who have asked questions that have already been answered are advised to try searching the forums, but I get nothing at all... not even a smart ass reply about searching for the answer myself (even though I've already tried that, and found nothing)
All I want is a stupid link to the files I need to root the damn thing using Heimdall, if I'd known the forum here was going to be this snobbish I would not have bothered joining.

I personally don't use linux to flash things so i dont have any idea sorry. I wondered why no one answered yet (probably don't have any). Would there be anyway you can get windows running or some sort and flash with Odin without using virtualbox? I don't know anything about flashing with heimdall so I can't help you with that ?

I've tried using various win flash programs both under wine and with Win7 in VirtualBox and none of them work
the thing is, I can find the instructions for using heimdall in linux, I just need the correct files, which are likely the same whether one is using Heimdall or Odin... I need the various .img files that have to be uploaded to the device... if I have all those, then I can find instructions for using Heimdall to upload them (or whatever you want to call it)
Unfo9rtunately, I'm totally new to all this (I know a good bit about Linux and what root is in Linux, and I know Android actually IS a version of Linux) but I've never rooted any phones or tablets before... I don't really know what all files I have to replace... one site I was on said I need recovery.img and cache.img and to send them to the tablet using Heimdall... but TWRP only has recovery.img, not cache.img, so it didn't work when I tried doing it with just recovery.img...
So really, if I just knew what files needed replaced on the device, and links to somewhere to get them, I could probably manage it from there.
okay, i'll bite
from one asshole to another, the problem is trying to get an image written without root.
writing to any block requires an escalation of priveleges [root]
you run linux, you need to install android-tools , adb fastboot etc,
wine is not going to do it, i've tried and failed with xp in virtual box as well, [odin]
the last i checked hemdall seemed to be "broken" with the current batch of samsung devices.
now, rather than run riot on xda and bothering assholes like me with your assholish assholiness, stop being an
asshole and use the search function, asshole.
Also, you only need a few minutes of time on a windows machine to get your tab sorted, so provided you're not being
an asshole, maybe you can find some asshole with a windows pc who's willing to give you some time on to get it done.
asshole.

xda is not your customer service desk. it is no one individual's obligation to give a 5hit how long you wait for anything.
we, by our nature, meaning new developers such as myself and the old dogs who whip up genuinely crazy-awesome 5hit have one major thing in common, a thirst for knowledge about this technology and the love of the hunt when it come to searching for information to take us further.

Or maybe you're ignoring the fact that we're all n00bs here, n00bs in disguise or n00bs in rehabilitation, n00bs who choose to put time and effort into slowly being something more. N00bs who help each other out when we can but figure it out on our own when we can't. Maybe the fact you didn't originally get an answer is due to the fact that (as DUHAsianSkillz post suggests) nobody actually knew the answer to your question, and then were incredibly put off (to say the least) how you followed it up demanding an answer. That empty space where you got no answer? That was a collective, "I don't know," from the forum. Would getting one or two or twenty "I don't know," posts really have assuaged the butthurt? As moonbutt74 pointed out, this is very much a DIY forum, you consider yourself lucky if someone gives you an all-out solution. And that last line? Yeah keep it classy you nimrod.

Yeah keep it classy you nimrod.

funny thing... I DID get a "I don't know" post... AFTER I got a bit snarky... and I appreciated that.
But moonbutt isn't trying to be helpful, isn't trying to lighten a situation, he's being an ass... he's lording over me that he KNOWS MORE ABOUT IT THAN I DO... like I care.
I admitted being a newb right off the bat. And I've explained over and over why I said what I said.... I DID FUCVKING TRY TO SEARCH and I found a bunch of stuff I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND, so I was asking for a bit a of help... I THO(UGHT that was what FORUMS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE FOR????????
OK, that's it. I'm not responding to any more messages from anyone who wants to ***** at me... I got upset, maybe I should not have, but I coukld not think of any other way to get an answer,,, I posted a secoind question aski8ng if I had done something wrong, or if I was in the wrong thread or what... and not one of you big brains even bothered to answer that one either... so yeah I GOT A LITTLE MAD.;
I'm done, please find an admin and remove me from this ****ing waste of a forum... and some of you really need to learn how to behave towards newbs, assholes
Get off your figurative lazy ass and find it. It is all contained here.
Not only have I suggested you seek a "friend" with a windows computer to get done what you need to get done, another user made the same suggestion mere moments ago. Additionally i am not *****ing about anything, I am simply trying to get across to you that it is YOUR obligation to find the things you need and no one else's. I am responding to you while i am waiting on a kernel build to finish for the cm12 effort for the sm-t330nu. While you are incapable of finding what you are looking for to suit your selfish needs, i am looking for solutions to problems with mtp, battery charging, wifi connectivity drops, rotation/gyroscope sensor issues and media encoding and decoding, not to mention our wonderful camera, which just refuses to work. I am also studying up on how to create/define/modify an selinux policy which may [hopefully resolve the problem.
Quit your whining and get to work.

n00bs in rehabilitation, butthurt, cactus !?!?! OMG i xD
Love this Forum
I am brand new and even I would know better than to piss on the individuals you are seeking help from. There were about a dozen other avenues you could have gone rather than the direction you took to be a entitlement douche. The people on here are not at you beckon call. Everyone here is working towards more knowledge so that at some point they can contribute to someone else.
As far as your original post, why aren't you trying to root first before loading a distro. It took me about 2 minutes last night to find a youtube video that walked me through my first root step by step. This is where you need to start rather than trying to do it all in one fell swoop. Go to nerdishtech's youtube channel and see what hes got for rooting your device.
Hope this helps,
Gno

I find it rather funny that you waited more than two weeks to join in to complaining about my posts, but what's worse is that you didn't even UNDERSTAND my original post, and then sit there complaining at me about that post because of your own misunderstanding of it.
I NEVER asked ANYTHING about rooting and installing a distro at the same time, what I was asking was how to root using a PC that was running a DISTRO... so my advice is, if you're going to complain at people, at LEAST try to understand what they were actually asking, instead of assuming something that wasn't true.
BTW, for anyone who stumbles on this thread and has the same problem I had, trying to root a Galaxy Tab 4 under linux, you can use the KingRoot program to do it, instructions can be found at http://hexamob.com/android-rooting-method-kingroot/
But instead of downloading the KingRoot app to your PC, download it direct to your Tab, and install and run it there... the colors won't match the description on hexamob's page, but it WILL root your Tab
