What rooting method to use? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased the I9500 from eXpansys and received the following:
Model #: GT-I9500
Baseband: I9500 UNUAMDK
Kernel Version: 3.4.5_534999 Wed Apr 24
Build number: JDQ39.I9500UBUAMDK
I am using the phone on Fido in Canada.
What rooting method will work for me based on the above info?
Thanks,
akey

flash this: kernel. Or this stock kernel
and you got full root.

The first one won't give you root. It's a rootable kernel. Not a rooted kernel.

Advice for rooting baseband: I9505XXUBMF8

Hello members. just got my s4 today, had a read through the posts, was wondering whats the best way to root my device which would also give me cwm recovery as well?
My about details follow:
Android 4.2.2
Baseband Version: I9505XXUBMF8
Kernal Version: 3.4.0-917495 [email protected] #1 Wed June 19 20:07:29 KST 2013
Build: JDQ39.I9505XXUBMF8
SELinux: Permissive
Secure Boot Status: Type: Samsung
Would i need to root 1st then flash recovery, or can it be done with just flashing cwm which would give me root?
I am planning to stay stock for now with cwm, and ideally do not want to have a insecure kernal/yellow triangle. Can someone guide me please, btw i dont have knox on my device if that helps.
I've come from a s2 which had cwm recovery and was very confident using that, have not used odin before.
Thanks

You can use CF-Auto Root from chainfire then just flash CWM (do a search for the links man).

I just did a quick search on XDA and read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252248&page=19
Give it a good read over and try it out if you want...it might help.

That thread is for an older firmware and no longer works on MF3 or MK2.
I used klingo root on mk2 there is also the safe root method that works
Saferoot has been used by a lot of folks as mentioned. But, you guys need to get heavy into the SafeStrap threads. All info is there--

[Q] Need help with d80220b-buo root, etc.

I'm having trouble finding the right root to use for my specific build and software, as well as which ROMs would work. The trouble is this odd BUO part of the software version, which I'm not finding any other mentions of here or elsewhere. So, if someone could point me in the right direction for the root and recommend a ROM I'd be really grateful. Thanks.
Android version: 4.4.2
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Build #: KOT491.D80220b
Software version: D80220b-BUO-xx
There is no root for 4.4.2 yet, only some workarounds involving going back to 4.2.2
You could flash back to 4.2.2 then re-flash with this method for 4.4.2 & root, Its fantastic!

Cool I checked it out, 1 question though. Is this safe even though my device wasn't rooted with ioroot? Cheers
If it's not rooted at all then it will not work.
If it's rooted then it will work.

[Confused] New rom for my I337M

Hello.
I have the following phone details:
SGH-I337M
Android Version 4.2.2
Baseband Version i337UCUAMF3
Kernel version 3.4.0-812098
Build Number JDQ39.I337UCUAMF3
I rooted my phone.
I should install a recovery method Like CWM on my phone and then I can install any rom? or it must be rom that is 4.2.2?
You have a rom you can recommend me that is multi-language?
Thanks!
Josef.
EDIT:
I installed Safestrap-JFLTEATT-3.65, how do I flash a rom now? does it have to be 4.2.2?
?

Take safestrap off and use cwm or twrp. With cwm or twrp you can flash any rom you want.

If you have a Canadian phone it will be i337m, if it is a US phone it is i337. Looking at your build and base band it looks like an i337. You want to make sure your using the right procedure and rom for your phone, they are not interchangable between i337 and i337m.
