Cool I checked it out, 1 question though. Is this safe even though my device wasn't rooted with ioroot? Cheers
If it's not rooted at all then it will not work.
If it's rooted then it will work.

I purchased the I9500 from eXpansys and received the following:
Model #: GT-I9500
Baseband: I9500 UNUAMDK
Kernel Version: 3.4.5_534999 Wed Apr 24
Build number: JDQ39.I9500UBUAMDK
I am using the phone on Fido in Canada.
What rooting method will work for me based on the above info?
Thanks,
akey
flash this: kernel. Or this stock kernel
and you got full root.

The first one won't give you root. It's a rootable kernel. Not a rooted kernel.
I'm having trouble finding the right root to use for my specific build and software, as well as which ROMs would work. The trouble is this odd BUO part of the software version, which I'm not finding any other mentions of here or elsewhere. So, if someone could point me in the right direction for the root and recommend a ROM I'd be really grateful. Thanks.
Android version: 4.4.2
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Build #: KOT491.D80220b
Software version: D80220b-BUO-xx
There is no root for 4.4.2 yet, only some workarounds involving going back to 4.2.2
You could flash back to 4.2.2 then re-flash with this method for 4.4.2 & root, Its fantastic!

Hello.
I have the following phone details:
SGH-I337M
Android Version 4.2.2
Baseband Version i337UCUAMF3
Kernel version 3.4.0-812098
Build Number JDQ39.I337UCUAMF3
I rooted my phone.
I should install a recovery method Like CWM on my phone and then I can install any rom? or it must be rom that is 4.2.2?
You have a rom you can recommend me that is multi-language?
Thanks!
Josef.
EDIT:
I installed Safestrap-JFLTEATT-3.65, how do I flash a rom now? does it have to be 4.2.2?
?

Take safestrap off and use cwm or twrp. With cwm or twrp you can flash any rom you want.

If you have a Canadian phone it will be i337m, if it is a US phone it is i337. Looking at your build and base band it looks like an i337. You want to make sure your using the right procedure and rom for your phone, they are not interchangable between i337 and i337m.
Alright, I've been doing some reading, and want to make sure I have this right. Here's my specs
Model: SGH-I337
Version: 4.4.2
Baseband: I337UCUFNC1
Kernel: 3.4.0-1125940
I am rooted with towelroot.
Now, from what I read, the only recovery this phone can use is safestrap? And, I can only use TW roms? So, before I flash a rom, I need to flash safestrap? Also, looking through the roms that I can use, I get a little lost. Can someone point me to a compatible rom with nice audio and customization tweaks?
EDIT: Also, on flashing safestrap, do I need to flash the NB1 modules even though i'm NC1?

i cant figure out why safestrap isn't working
Ugh, I'm rooted, but safestrap will not install correctly. it will say "install completed" but it's not installed. When I go into recovery, I still have the stock recovery, and the safestrap app still says "not installed". AND, I figured out the modules thing. I just need a working recovery. Help?
try downloading selinux mode changer and change to permissive.

thank you, sir. I was just reading about that on it's thread.
I want to install the Android 5.0 version on my sgh-1337 galaxy s4. Can I use the twrp recovery?
Installing a ROM for the very first time. So a little detailed help will be appreciated. Thanks!

What software version are you running? What's the last 3 characters of the baseband or your bootloader version if you already know? Or, are you already rooted with a recovery?

On NB1 you can't get to Lollipop yet due to the locked bootloader. Hopefully the GPE ROMs will be updated to it, but it's not guaranteed they will be able to function at all since we can't flash kernels.
