This is the #1 reason I root my phones. I even jailbreaked my iPhone 3G back in the day for the same reason. What does "download hidden" mean? I'm assuming you're using TBU to back up the apk?
Awesome sauce!

No worries y'all. This app has been avail for a long time. I agree, I was very happy to find it to hold me over until custom Roms become available. I feel like I want to dust off Kitchen, but I'm not that talented and I'm sure others are already lightyears ahead of where I'd be starting.
Anyone know if FoxFi works. It doesn't even need root...haven't tried it yet, but it worked on the Nexus.

Tested FoxFi and it works, as well as the FoxFi plugin with the proxy enable.
FoxFi is working fine for me.
Used it all day today.
Ok, so this program does what exactly? It masks to packets with the device identity and responds with the selected device description posing as something else. It should have a "clone your own device" to make sure that att does not get any notice of the device chg......

On the Thrill, you can goto connectivity test in hiden menu to disable Entitlement to allow free wifi tethering without root. Can the same be done on the Galaxy S III?
If you are rooted, remove TetheringManager.apk and use a Wifi hotspot to toggle on/off. I use Widgetsoid2.x in the android market.
A word of caution. I've used WiFi Tether For Root User on my Thrill before. The problem is that it allows tethering even with the Entitlement enabled. Because of this, I got a text from AT&T warning me that tethering requires tethering plan. A few days later, I got a letter in the mail stating that tethering requires a tethering plan.
I have since disable Entitlement and deleted the Entitlement APN. Been tethering since without AT&T sending warning text and letter.
Now, does anyone know a guarantee way to tether the S III without AT&T knowing you're tethering.
Does this tethering app eat up phone plan data?

Under Data usage, it is listed and I have not install such an app. I assume it is a core function in android. So STFU about your wise a$$ remarks if you don't know don't answer....
On another note it this like a cleanup function android does for removed apps?

Your question is pretty unclear, what do you mean by "the remove apps" I'm going to take another guess and play store is updating your current apps. If you want to turn that off open play store and then go into settings and tell it not to auto update.

I would recommend doing a full factory reset right away.
Also, not to be rude by any means, but please read the forum rules..there's other ways to settle your differences with members other than public post. Thanks.
Thanks agent929, I will try the factory reset once I have all my pictures backed up. A few friends advised it was part of android but not sure the specifics on what it does.

It can't be if it's constantly increasing in size....but then again it can if he keeps uninstalling apps lol. That's a very good point you make here, and possibly could be the culprit right there.

Well data isn't used to remove apps, but if the quote I have above is true, it means apps that you have removed in the past has used a total of X amount of data in the past.

It's not saying there is an app that's using that data. It's not saying that removed apps are literally using data.
For example. If I install Chrome, and use 10GB of data with Chrome, usage will say Chrome has used 10GB of data. If I uninstall it, it will say removed apps has used 10GB of data. Get what I mean?
Now after many of you guys who could have the tablet already were able to root and remove your bloat , so after rooting and being able to customize your tablet and DPI etc. how is it with the tablet going for you ? Would appreciate you sharing your experience so far
p.s ... this baby will cost a solid 1000$ in my country for LTE model .
It's definitely more responsive after freezing a bunch of unnecessary (for me anyway) applications.
For me my primary reason for purchasing was for s-pen in a large form factor. Based on that I expected to just de-bloat and use stock s-pen applications. I have no interest in any other Android tablet at this time.
Question is sort of odd though; I wouldn't expect a lot of people to have gone through the hard decision of rooting such an expensive device and then say they felt it wasn't worth it.

well its not that odd bc its not just about the money etc its about the whole experience etc and what could you get out of the tablet with the more real estate and i have seen some people regretting buying it etc. am a junior architect and i was waiting for something that big to use it with the s-pen too .. in my place you wouldn't be able to resell the tablet if you didn't like it or didn't get what you expect from it etc even i watched many reviews about it and sounds pretty interesting the limitations around me makes me have some concerns thats it
Right, my point is the "is it worth it" evaluation for a person who has rooted their device will have already occurred before rooting so of course you'll get more responses in the affirmative. I suppose it's not impossible that some will chime in to say that even after rooting it's unacceptable. ...perhaps odd is the wrong thing to say...just don't expect a majority of people who have rooted to tell you that they wish they hadn't.

It's sometimes good to freeze (at least as a test-bed) because some apps no matter how innocuous they may seem could be an integrated part of the system. Removing them might break functionality within other apps or even the system itself. For example, on some systems if you remove the pre-installed file manager because you prefer another (Solid Explorer RULES!), it might break the Gallery app which could interfere with setting wallpapers even from other apps. That example - from my phone.
I want root to address the following things...
1. Remove multiwindow application restrictions
2. Use LMT or similar launcher for home, back, menu, etc.
3. Change the DPI (smaller icons, more real estate).
4. Backup/restore with Titanium Backup
5. freeze/remove system apps/bloat.
6. Install AOSP browser w/Flash
Rooting I noticed nothing different. I installed xposed and wanam to get the things I like. The main thing that changed was I lost the symbols on my keyboard. I can still get them by hitting the sym key, but can't long press the letter keys to get the symbol. It doesn't matter what language it's set to, they are not there.
Also, my video player developed an issue when it set to fullscreen. Lines through it and very choppy.
So I have un installed wanam and exposed, and video is normal, but still no symbols. Had them out of the box.
Thinking about Un rooting to see if it fixes the issue on the keyboard.

Hi!
I did a quick search, didn't see much. I ordered the S5 Sport edition from Sprint and it arrives Monday. However, I've been very interested in the M8 HK edition, mainly for the earbuds. I'm actually thinking about keeping the S5 Sport but because it's so new I can't really find much on it on the scene!
After reading a lot of reviews, both phones appear equal - I'm leaning towards the S5 Sport for the physical buttons but I just want to see if I can install custom ROMs on it (maybe regular S5 ones?) .. either now or in the near future. The other stuff is there just in case someone wants to comment on their personal experience with it. Also, below you can ignore, but I'm listing out the comparisons I made briefly while typing this out in case anyone wants to comment on something with their personal experience.
Is there anything in development for the Sport? Is it even that popular of a phone yet? I love to customize and I'm interested in actually using the bloatware it comes with, but if it turns out it's a battery drain and/or I don't use it, I'd want to put on a clean slate ROM.
I love the water resistant certification. I can use it with wet hands and not feel like I'm potentially murdering it.
I love the physical buttons (which is why I ordered the Sport) because I hate the S3's (phone I currently have) capacitative buttons. The M8 has buttons on screen which I hate even more but I would be able to deal with it.
I do take a lot of random pictures and I'm loving the 16 megapixel camera. I've read that the M8 camera is not awful though and the ability to refocus is great.
I heard the S5 can be laggy. The M8 seems to have a better optimization.
The sport is the same as the s5 active ...its just sprint naming of the phone ...

Man, all I want to do is root it.. =\
UPDATE:
I don't regret my purchase. The S5 Sport is EXTREMELY BLOATED! I wanted it for the physical buttons .. it was very painful to sure until the root came out. I downloaded an app to remove the majority of the bloat and now my phone is excellent. Slightly quicker and less annoying popups (and my apps are less crowded). Threw on Nova Launcher Prime and it is good to go.

they're probably only interested in deploying in the biggest economy. Canada is like 15th place. speaking from business point of view, probably not worth the effort setting up a bank system with so little money flowing.
Im in the UK. Doubt we will ever see it. Im gonna root. People complain about battery life but those bloatware apps are the biggest battery killers you can get. Facebook, whatsapp, instagram etc
