Sticker behind battery !!? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Well, just now, I did a battery pull (for no real reason) and under the battery in the lower right hand corner appears to be a sticker. This is outlined by two lines that form an "L". Now what is really concerning is that the sticker appears to be pink. From everything I know about those water damage indicators, if this is in fact a water damage indicator sticker, they are supposed to be white.
I've had this phone for a week..and it has not even been in a humid room or anything, so somebody please tell me I'm not seeing what I think I'm seeing.
What color is your sticker that I referenced above?

The water damage indicator is actually under the 2 copper prongs by the camera. What you are referring to is actually copper. Try looking at it in direct light and see if you can tell. Hope this helps.

Water Damage - Quick Question

I just got a 8525 today and want to make sure there is no water damage to it.
When you take off the battery cover, to the right of the camera there is a white circle that reads 'VOID' on it in read. Does this mean it has had water damage (hence void), or does it mean that if that white circle turns all pink, then it has had water damage?
My last phone had water damage, but it had a little white section that just got a bunch of pink dots on it after damage. Void is written pretty neatly, so I am assuming no damage has been done and it should be ok.
I just wanted to check with other 8525 owners and make sure that is what it should say.

thats not a waterdamage sticker to the best of my knowledge, theres a screw underneath it.
Thanks - phone seems to work fine and everything works as it should (except for the keyboard - it seems the layout internally doesn't match with the keys on the keyboard, but there probably is a thread regarding this) - just a few nicks on the outside.

After looking really hard at my X10a... I found where it is located.
It's north of the camera (assuming you removed the battery cover) and is really, really small. It is to the left of the screw that is at the middle of the top back of the x10. The sticker should be white, and I can only see one whole red dot, and part of 2 red dots on mine due to the small size of the sticker.
There is also one on the top of the battery itself i believe

I've just had a look at the back of my phone behind the back cover at the top and the white sticker has small evenly spaced out red dots. I have never had water anywhere near the device. Do the red dots indicate that it has been water damaged or is this how it's supposed to look?
Meant to be there dude it goes all red under damage

Usually one in the headphone jack, too.

That's how it's supposed to look. If it gets wet the red dots gets smudged I think...
It's only a bad sign if you see a red glow or a full red sticker. The stripes and dots you see are standard, no need to worry

[Q] Replacement Phone Options, Battery w/ Water Damage?

My MT4G's speaker blew out for no apparent reason. I was on virtuous fusion 1.1.8 and the unity kernel v1. I've performed a factory wipe and have restored to stock rom but the problem persists which leads me to believe it's a hardware problem.
Unfortunately, I just noticed that my battery has signs of water/moisture damage (pink hash marks on white tab) even though it's never fallen into a water source before. I work out with my phone in my pocket so I suspect it could be from sweat moisture. Any suggestions on the cheapest way to get my phone replaced under warranty?
Should I go through T-mobile or HTC? Would it be wise to get a replacement battery w/ a clean white tab before pursuing a warranty replacement? I've noticed there's a circular white tab on the bottom right hand side of the battery compartment on the phone itself and that has not changed colors, although I'm not sure if that's a water indicator tab or not...
Advice is greatly appreciated!

You can go through TMOBILE. If the PHONE does not have water damage (The sticker is WHITE) you can go through them. They will send THE PHONE ONLY. You will keep the battery, back and all other accessories.
When I was talking to a Tmobile rep, he asked me if the battery had any indication of water damage. Since I was on the same phone and needed to remove the battery to check, I hung up and checked and found out it does.
When I call back to Tmobile, should I say just say no if they ask me again if the battery has water damage? I don't want to be "flagged" for water damage if I don't have to and if I won't be sending in the battery. I guess my question is really if that white circular tab on the battery compartment is really a water damage indicator. If it is, I'll feel a lot more comfortable because it is still all white.
Here is the pic of my battery:

Do the red X's on my battery mean the indicator has been tripped? TIA!

I have the red x on my batteries too. And neither were exposed to water. As long as the device sticker is WHITE and hasn't been water damaged, tell them no. They will send you a refurbished device and you will keep the battery, back, and accessories.

Water Damage Indicators?

Hi guys, just going to RMA my phone for faulty volume rocker (intermittently stops working for periods of a few hours and then randomly starts working again), however a week ago I spilled some coffee over my device, it was in a silicone case at the time which I think helped a little in stopping coffee getting here, there and everywhere. I'm fairly certain the issue isn't water damage related as that was over a week ago and the phone has been working perfectly up until a couple of days ago. I took the back of the nexus 4 off to inspect for any coffee that may have gotten in there and caused the issue but it was dry as a bone with not a coffee stain in sight.
Just wondering if there are any water damage indicators on the phone that may show that coffee has been spilled on it? I have heard the white strip on the inside of the sim card slot is an indicator, mine is still white so if it is then it hasnt triggered that one, any others that I should know of? Just double checking before I RMA and they try and say its due to water damage then charge me. Any info is much appreciated, thanks.

Umm the indicator can only be seen when you take out the sim tray, there's a tiny tiny strip visible on the bottom (inside the sim slot), and that's the indicator. Red = water. White = nothing
Edit, Oh just read your full post.. So you know about the sim one, heh..
But yeah as far as we know, that's the only indicator, however, its not fully visible when you're looking at it through the sim card slot, but if you do RMA it, they'll take it apart thus seeing the whole strip, and part of the strip may show water damage.

Hmm if you look through the taredown of the N4
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+4+Teardown/11781/2
It seems there are two indicators on the mobo protective plastic plating.. Cant be too sure though.
Since its so easy to open the N4 ( no screws), in my opinion it would be best just to take off the back, and make sure those two white squares are clear, and if not.. Just bleach them out

Just cracked it open again and those indicators are also white, there is a red dot on the far left but im 99.9% positive thats red pen as other parts are marked in red pen inside the phone (random parts on the ifixit link phone were marked in pen also). I've attached a pic to show.

Yeah, should be fine And I'm also sure thats a random mark, water indicators are normally a more vibrant tint of red.
Good luck with the RMA :good:

Sorry for use this post, but, how was the RMA? Everything ok? It's because i am going to open my nexus to see if its wet or not (damn heavy rain)

Sensor issues (Gyro, Accel, temp, etc)

Dropped my phone the other night putting it back in my pocket at the beach. Was a fairly small drop, maybe about 2 feet, phone is in a UAG case, and from what I could tell it landed on the side. Some water did get on it, but more like splashed on the screen and very very little. Didn't activate the water sensors and everything seemed to be fine.
The only thing that I found that I am having issues with is that ALL sensors, minus the proximity sensors, appear to be dead. It is the only thing that isn't working on the phone, EVERYTHING else works wonderfully as it has in the past. As far as I know, these sensors are all on the same board, so I am wondering if during the fall I knocked something loose.
I downloaded Androsensor, and it is confirming that all those sensors are dead. I factory reset, changed roms, and kernels (though I already knew that it shouldn't matter as it worked just fine before), so I am looking for any suggestions, before I contact Samsung to replace.
Kind of baffling to me that a small fall would kill the sensors like that, not a single mark on the phone, a little heartbroken, and kicking myself for not being a bit more careful, but at the same time was being careful. Not sure anything would have saved me other than wrapping the phone up in bubble wrap, and leaving it in a safe. But now I am rambling.
*EDIT*
Ok, I am wondering if it was water damaged now, I took it a part a bit and discovered this, not 100% positive, but I think the water damage sensors are activated. Anyone confirm?
*Edit 2*
I might be premature on the water sensor, just looked a bit closer at iFixit's website, unless they dunked theirs in water, their sensors look exactly the same,so maybe a sigh of relief, I don't know. I am completely unfamiliar with what they should look like and google isn't giving me my answer. Pic included for reference.
No ideas then?
taking it apart voided the warranty as did rooting/ROM flashing, and yeah looks like your water indicator is showing. can you buy/replace just the component with the sensors?

So what are you basing on with the water sensor? I agree they are showing, but what are yhe showing? And taking it apart is a bit moot as there isn't any indication I did, and i can unroot and restrore to factory.
Not trying to sound like a buttwipe btw. I did look into the sensors and apparently can't purchase yet. At least not that I found. Att is shipping a new one out.

top left of your pic (vs ifixit pic) iirc the blue x's on that water damage detector pad SHOULD mean its been dunked. you COULD try to swap that sticker out for an all white sticker...

I thought that too until I ran into this, so I am unsure. Definitely odd.
oh snap; couldnt see the blue x's at first. well send it back, and insure it on the way. carrier could have dunked it on its way back to samsung
