HTC One marketing - One (M7) General

I haven't seen many advertisements for this phone yet but this one is awesome
http :// www .funnyordie.com/videos/d332bf23d3/the-one-with-james-van-der-beek

They are running a terrific commercial for BoomSound. Here it is in German. It's basically a bunch of live music being played in the opposite direction of the listener and the commercial ends with "you don't listen to music facing the other way, with BoomSound speakers on the front you no longer have to." It's quite clever.

I have seen a couple of advertising poster thingies in Manchester. Next time I'll take a pic.

There have been a couple adverts here in the UK. On various different tv channels. Also the uefa champions league and uefa europa league is a huge marketing investment by htc. The htc one billboards are shown during some parts of every single match.

htc one at mtv movie awards
i also saw them sponsoring the mtv movie awards.. they are showing the movies using htc one.. i think that is great advertising.. :good:

I have seen commercials for the One quite a few time. It's pretty good actually.

Not that I want mine, but HTC should be flooding the market with the HTC one before the release of the S4. Wish they would release the one early!

theres a lot of advertising at the soccer games in europe and stuff.
I see it on tv against madrid or whatever is on foxsports.

True story, they are one of the main sponsors for the champions league .

Just saw that one on tv a few minutes ago.

yep just saw the ad on tbs i think or tnt!

They need to make an ad for the Zoe feature. Market it as your gallery is "like Harry Potter". I've talked to several people and that's what they think of it as and they think it's "so cool."

In Singapore, they use Cabs to advertise the HTC One. I've seen cabs encased with HTC One advertising wallpaper.

We have zero advertisements for HTC One in Lebanon
HTC if you read me,please do something for Lebanon
I am pretty sure it wil sell much more than SGS4 if they advertise it just a little on TV,billboards and newspaper

Xperia S. Anybody getting it?

I was thinking this would be my next phone. But I'm starting to have 2nd thoughts after seeing some, not so good reviews. Especially pertaining to the capacitive buttons.

Quite simple for me really, 1)No expandable memory = no no 2)Anyone watching SONY chairman's speech at CES - Ion will be available Internationally from Q3 of this year. Here's to hoping the specs are kept pretty much the same, especially the expandable memory.
the non expandable memory isn't that big of a deal breaker to me.
but i'm waiting for the xperia P for the aluminum case and smaller size.
I would get one right now, if I could find one in the USA. I like it's design more than the Ion. And I like it in white better than the required Ion black.
jesus, i'm reading some reviews and it's amazing how biased the midia is towards apple products, that cnet site in particular is freaking horrible.
for instance, in their playstation vita review, the guy had the nerve to write "hardcore users would prefer an iPod touch" i was speechless.

I will 2nd that. Apple has done a wonderful job at marketing their products.
Yes.Apple 's marketing is one of the best because their products are one year old in features.Nevermind, the fanboys will always be there to defend the bitten fruit.
At the moment the Sony S is the best mobile phone(until the next one).
Just enjoy it.
BUT, when compared to the design of my X10 it is erm, Ug, well not very pretty, with shut lines everywhere and just 'clunky'.
Shame, I was so sure this would be my next phone but having seen it and played with it I am not at all sure..........
However, where else to go?
IF my X10 did not have the infuriating drop out when listening to music via bluetooth and a better in call volume I would not bother...............BUT it has and so a change is required. Just don't know where to go now.
Suggestions (sensible, constructive) welcome.

SGS2. HTC One, Nexus?
wait for the S3 maybe ? OR HTC One-X .... My contract is up in May so no rush for anything yet, always better to wait a month or two anyway, ICS should be updated if there are any bug's plus more time for the Dev's to work on some tweaks
---------- Post added at 10:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:16 PM ----------
The Xperia S is one I really wanted to like but It's not very sleek, more brick like than the X10, camera looks great as does the display though.
Really want to know when the S3 will be released though ....
Nope, I will be waiting for something new like the sgs3.. I have the feeling that phone development is moving with the speed of light since 2011
Send from beneath my cloak of magic
Okay, seriously? There are several aspects of the Xperia S that are substandard, namely the SoC already being old, the screen being (undoubtly) the same from the HTC Rezound (which has some black crush), and the weight being unbalanced. Not only that, it's launching off of the old Android 2.3 platform, while there are already phones launching off of 4.0.x ICS.
The Xperia S is a bit late, for basically being a slimmer Rezound with more onboard memory.
I'm still getting it (since I don't like the Xperia ION), mainly because I like Sony products.

I'm in love. Hold me back!

I just saw this phone in the flesh for the first time. I played with it in the store (in Yurakucho, Japan).
Very nice indeed! I can't wait to get it now. The release date hasn't been announced in Japan, although it will be sometime this month (November).
I was surprised that it comes with an antenna, for watching TV (and hopefully radio). The antenna comes out of the top right corner. I haven't seen this antenna in the many Galaxy Note 2 videos that I've watched on YouTube.
Anyway, as sad as it seems, I'm totally excited to get it. I'm not too impressed with the Samsung flip over style case, so I'll look to try a few others out and see what's about.
I was very excited before, but after spending half an hour with it, I've fallen in love! :good:

The cable companies would have a **** fit if phones were being released in the US with antennas on them!
The people in Korea and Japan have much higher standards and expectations when it comes to electronics, since the tech development is much faster there. There are tons of cool phones released over there that are exclusive to those countries.
Some phones there have more RAM than their EU/US counterparts, some have 64GB storage, some have TV-antennas. I think people there are much more picky and demanding when they shop tech, because they're far ahead of the rest of the world in that department.

It's the iPod nano 6th generation that came out in 2010
Sent from my HTC Desire C
I'm sorry to tell you, but that didn't start anything.
Starting from wikipedia, I found out the Seiko Data 2000, which is probably the first smartwatch.
If you dig deeper you can find that this whole smartwatch idea is pretty old, it's just tat now it turned into something else. And, as somebody around here was saying (don't remember who, can't quote), I'm waiting for the day when a tiny device in my ear will signal me that my watch is showing me a notification from my phone.
Hahaha....
Sent from my HTC Desire C
I think the iPod Nano really brought the idea into the mainstream - just like Apple did with tablets. They didn't invent it - but they got it enough speaking time for people to get interested.
I had a Nano watch, but that was before I had a smartphone. Now that I have a smartphone, I don't really need a tiny music player since the phone serves as one.
"Smart watches" are a solid idea, but I don't see any reason to add another gadget back in that I've effectively gotten rid of and no longer need to carry. I'm sure they'll work for some people, I've just never been a watch person.

I never owned a nano/nano watch but I agree with Pennycake. Apple is good at making ideas mainstream.
I wouldn't classify an mp3 player as a smart-anything... And I've got one!
It also did not come with a watch band initially (you had to buy it separately), meaning it wasn't intended to be a watch in the first place. I hope that makes sense.

Why have a watch that tells you when your phones ringing, when you can have a watch that is your phone.
For under $100 some of these have the same features as my old LX600 LG Lotus multi-media flip phone(one of my favorites).
They have also gotten down to a reasonable watch size.

As you said, having the ipod nano on your wrist is like having an mp3 player on your wrist, period. It doesn't connect to your smart phone, it doesn't do anything a smart phone does, and it wasn't even sold as a watch. I know exactly what it does cause I still have mine, except it's now a part of my ~$250 alarm clock setup (yes, that's right, although that wasn't the original intention..)

I can't stop purchasing HTC One phones

Originally I wanted to have several devices to run some display testing, and I was supposed to give them back, but with now 3 HTC One phones (2 silver and 1 black) in my possession, I am having trouble parting from them.
I am now seriously considering keeping the other two phones, one as a remote control, one as a hotspot router with permanent that remains online in all social networks.
I love the fact that I always have 1 charged up phone ready to be grabbed, checked upon, plus I really couldn't decide which screen I like best. The 6640K one has got really accurate colors and is brighter and the 6970K one has got the best contrast.
This way I can move back and forth between the two displays depending on my mood.
Feeling the aluminum of the device in my hands was already making me beam, but now sometimes I have all 3 devices in my hands, gliding on each other and I find the slow aluminum rubbing noise wildly erotic.
The HTC One is the best piece of hardware I have seen in a long time. Three HTC Ones make me smile any day. Ever since I got the HTC One, I stopped dating, I do more sports and am constantly overjoyed with anything ordinary.
Everytime I am around a smartphone shop, I feel like chatting clients up and make them marvel about the phone. I have started an unofficial job as an HTC One advisor, now Vodafone and O2 shop representatives let me talk to their clients whenever they see me and don't bother advising clients anymore. They have gotten used to me measuring up screens.
I realize my behavior is not normal, though. I was wondering if any of you had the same experience and if you had any tricks how you can quit feeling addicted to the HTC One. I have tried reducing the brightness, shutting down the sun and hiding the phone under pillows, but none of this helped.
Hahaha and here I am waiting for just "one"

the way Samsung and Apple do. The average cell phone customer probably has never heard of HTC.

who the hell cares if he's right
consider this the HTC One was released early this year, it's indeed 2013 phone of the year, ask any SGS3 / SGS4 convert
if HTC is indeed in the red knows, this gives them two years before sale or change of owner ship or even going private, even then under a new form they are most likely to continue operation (they are Taiwan's most prized)
until then? plenty of time for the world to enjoy the HTC One and the software updates are flowing like water
so enough drama, this phone is fulfilling it's job for this year and the year to come
It's the phone of the year, 90% of the world's press agree, otherwise you are missing out
Thata boy HTC!
DESERVED!
This went downhill pretty quickly
The topic here is the HTC One winning awards. Criticising other manufacturers, or even talking about their rumoured acquisition is not supposed to be here. Promoting Samsung shouldn't be here either. You can talk about whether the One deserves the awards, but I think a battle between the manufacturers belongs elsewhere.
I'll be watching the thread.
After giving them another try after the Desire HD (Inspire 4g in 'Murica). The One X and One have both been incredible pieces of hardware. How they have not been more popular I'll never know.

I think this is a huge win for HTC.
This is a software win as well which is, to say the least, mind blowing. I never thought HTC would get here. Sense finally has gotten to the right balance of being functional without being intrusive and lagging the device. The speakers are great and all but what really makes this device is the amazing software that powers it.
You have to give it to HTC for optimization when you see their underclocked Snapdragon 600 chip device (both CPU and GPU) that is running the older LPDDR2 memory take out devices with faster clock speeds and faster memory in every day performance. HTC has struggled with that since the Windows Mobile days and they've finally found their balance.
HTC won me over with the One. And I swore off HTC after the disaster that was the Sensation... Hopefully they can keep churning out winning devices! :highfive:
