I belive the HTC 8X is the best iphone 5 challenger from both android and windows phone. The HTC 8X has a screen closest in size to the iPhone. It is a gorgeous handset, it has a high ppi, the camera is solid, and fits the iPhone user. I personally will be getting the Nokia Lumia 920, but I think the iphone 5 is better for more people. The 8X I believe can compete with the iPhone 5 at every level, even with the smaller handed people and from the specs, the camera seems to be very good.
The iPhone 5 is not even a challenger for the One X!

well, many iPhone users will disagree, not everyone is as knowledgeable like us.
It's nice, but they'll still go to the iPhone. That's just how it works.

with enough marketing, this could dent the iphone 5. Thin, lightweight and chances are it will take better pictures.
Considering most of them got Iphone so far, despite the constraints of such a device, I am pretty sure they will continue to do so...

not unless you're throwing it at an iPhone.
the iPhone sold what, 5 million, just in pre orders alone, in the first 24 hours?
maybe you were referencing those lumia buyers that don't have an update path? or it could really slaughter a blackberry...
face it folks, iPhone mind share is locked down. solid. Android is growing as new smartphone users come online and as users put their wm devices to rest.
look at the sentiment from a year ago and rabi fans defending lumia. claiming it was superior, it would outsell whoever. this is all going to happen the same year that is " Linux becomes the desktop is of choice" , and for the same reasons.
Nokia makes GREAT hardware, but windows is not going to steal away droves from apple or Google.

I think since the 8x is more mass market, and seems to be around the same size as the ip5, it can compete better. Others like me, like the larger screen and better camera, but the sales will do the talking.

Believe it or not, the 8X will get more sales than the 920 cuz of the exclusivity of the 920 as compared to the 8X. Heck, maybe even the ATIV S will get more sales. Shame on you, Nokia...

HTC should just follow the car companies!
Next year, the all-new 2014 HTC One
Two years, the all-new 2015 HTC One
And so forth....
I believe that this is a good way for all OEM's to solve the naming problems. Think about it, We can just end up with the Samsung Galaxy S, the LG Optimus (forget the G), and of course the HTC One. No more numbers, letters, or anything that adds confusion.

Honestly, that's not a bad idea. It can just be the HTC One (2014). Most of the other conventions or numbering systems don't really sound very good the the one, and let's face it, HTC cannot afford to dilute it's brand at this point.

You got the right answer here. One of htc's senior officer has said that the naming for "hTC One" is inspired by the naming rule from car industry. So "htc One 2014" is very likely to be the name of the next htc One for 2014.
2nd gen HTC one (2014 model)
3rd gen HTC one (2015 model)
4th gen HTC one (2016 model)
The same naming strategy as cars, Intel and iPods use. It's very simple and easy and when saying the name you will call it the HTC One only the marketing dept will use the 2nd gen, 3 gen etc for ads and on the retail box.
It works just like bmw m6 2013 and then bmw m6 2014 but when someone asks you what car you have you only have to mention the name bmw m6, nobody ever says I have the bmw m6 2014 model it's just to long. HTC ONE will always be HTC ONE the whole purpose is to tell people theirs just One that's above all else.

Hi all, I'm about to buy a new phone in two weeks time and I'm pointing right at the nexus 4. I've seen a lot of reviews and read a lot of threads here in this forum. Well, I have a doubt now... Many users are lamenting problems with the screen (blue lines) and the general build quality of the phone (creaking of the volume rocker or something like that). So I'm asking you: is it so common to receive a faulty nexus 4? If I buy the phone, I will have to stick with it for about two years, so I really have to make a good choise. Thanks in advance
Think about it this way bruv logically speaking threads titled My Nexus 4 Is Working As Advertised won't be posted anywhere near as frequently as help/troubleshooting/complaint threads. It just isn't deemed newsworthy by most
But don't let that put you off, haha--the N4's the best phone I've owned so far (I've owned all the greats One X, Maguro, S3, S4 etc) and after checking it out myself I bought a couple spares for me, one for the wife and another for my brother. None of us have had any problems whatsoever after months of constant rooting/flashing/tinkering in general
In short you're not going to find a better phone in terms of price to performance--by all means go for it

That would be because not all chips are created equal and yes, afaik only fast binned CPUs can get up to 1.9GHz--I've been lucky enough that all five of the N4s I bought can get up that high.
However I personally use stock freqs (384GHz min - 1512GHz max) because I don't do any gaming & have no need to go higher. Always nice to have the option though

Sure mate go for it, i think devices with build quality issues are isolated cases, as someone already mentioned you won't see threads about everything working as it should.
From my experience, and i had htc and samsung phones, so i know the difference between plastic/metal housings and different build qualities, believe me when i say the nexus 4 has a really unique premium feel to it. You won't regret getting it.

They make great phones, the only brand I have used since vzw started selling them. They have just been mis-managed
the last five years. They have never put the necessary money into advertising to sell their product to a wider audience
the way Samsung and Apple do. The average cell phone customer probably has never heard of HTC.

who the hell cares if he's right
consider this the HTC One was released early this year, it's indeed 2013 phone of the year, ask any SGS3 / SGS4 convert
if HTC is indeed in the red knows, this gives them two years before sale or change of owner ship or even going private, even then under a new form they are most likely to continue operation (they are Taiwan's most prized)
until then? plenty of time for the world to enjoy the HTC One and the software updates are flowing like water
so enough drama, this phone is fulfilling it's job for this year and the year to come
It's the phone of the year, 90% of the world's press agree, otherwise you are missing out
Thata boy HTC!
DESERVED!
This went downhill pretty quickly
The topic here is the HTC One winning awards. Criticising other manufacturers, or even talking about their rumoured acquisition is not supposed to be here. Promoting Samsung shouldn't be here either. You can talk about whether the One deserves the awards, but I think a battle between the manufacturers belongs elsewhere.
I'll be watching the thread.
After giving them another try after the Desire HD (Inspire 4g in 'Murica). The One X and One have both been incredible pieces of hardware. How they have not been more popular I'll never know.

I think this is a huge win for HTC.
This is a software win as well which is, to say the least, mind blowing. I never thought HTC would get here. Sense finally has gotten to the right balance of being functional without being intrusive and lagging the device. The speakers are great and all but what really makes this device is the amazing software that powers it.
You have to give it to HTC for optimization when you see their underclocked Snapdragon 600 chip device (both CPU and GPU) that is running the older LPDDR2 memory take out devices with faster clock speeds and faster memory in every day performance. HTC has struggled with that since the Windows Mobile days and they've finally found their balance.
HTC won me over with the One. And I swore off HTC after the disaster that was the Sensation... Hopefully they can keep churning out winning devices! :highfive:
I like how HTC being not famous...makes it even more unique having their product...poor those enslaved by samsung plasticky, well I am one before One X and the One

Hi,
Nokia sent me a Lumia 1520 for about one week and here are my impressions. It is a great device and would love to keep it. For me it is too big and I don't think that it makes use of its bigger screen. Nokia has taken one of their Lumia smartphones, put a great camera, a faster processor and a bigger battery in it and made it bigger. Still it is a great device imho.
I hope you like my review and have suggestions for my future ones. Thank you in advance for watching and your feedback.
Best regards,

sorry for you. Never happened to me though as I would like to help you. Have you written to Google support?
The Nexus 7 is really nice too, but imho not comparable to the Lumia 1520. The Lumia 1520 is still more a big phone to me than a phablet and the Nexus 7 is just a small tablet.
Lol yeah they just keep telling me to submit a utility bill and my Id which I've done 3 times now...and then nothing happens. I'm not the only one as I found a thread on the Google support forums with a bunch of people having the same problem. It seems they don't have a system in place for dealing with the situation after asking you to prove your identity. Sort of just stuck in free Google services limbo. Oh well.
