HTC One speaker housing - One (M7) General

Hi,
In the drop test it showed when the HTC was dropped the speaker housing fell off. As I believe this part of the housing it glued on, how would be stick this back on if that happened to us?

Could probably glue it back on? Get some super glue and bam right back on. Just an idea.

Simply put the cover back on after heating the little glue htc has already there.
I love the fact they are removable because the back cover is very scratch resistant but the speaker ones damn they nick easily according to reviews. If they can be replaced just by gluing a new pair or spare parts that would be nice because thats only worth a couple dozen of dollars.

changing the casing

i accidentally drop my xda2 earlier today. it was in inside an innopocket aluminum casing but it apparently hit a stone on the sidewalk right at the upper left hand corner, where the bluetooth LED is. it cause a rather ugly scratch on my xda 2 and bent my aluminum casing. fortunately, my xda2 is still working fine.
i was wondering if it's possible to replace the casing of the xda2? where and how much would it cost? as this obviously would not be covered by the warranty.
The cheapest way is to acquire a dummy phone and use the case from that.

Wow rodnav!...
Maybe we live in paralell universes since I dropped mine (which was in it's original leather case) and when dropped it hit a small stone on the pavement and it scrached and dent my MDA2 just on that same spot... it just missed the bluetooth led my a millimeter!
I want to buy a spare casing too!
Let me know if you had any luck finding one...
thanks guys.
i saw a dummy xda2 at a shop recently, i wonder if they'll sell it to me...

Nexus 4 Back glass shattered, won't power on.

Hey All,
The other night my phone back glass panel shattered while inside my pocket. I'm not sure when/how it happened. Now, I have a solid red light when charging and the phone will not turn on. I've tried various combinations of holding power + volume down, but to no avail.
I've got a ton of pictures and some saved games data I'm trying to get off the phone. Is there any way to do this?
Also, I called google and they are sending me a new one, but I didn't mention the broken glass. Do you think this will be an issue? I've also had it rooted for about 1 month now.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You will need to open the back cover and unscrew the two screw pins that are holding the battery. Flip the plate over and put it back in and screw them back together. You will need a T5 torque screwdriver and small philip screwdriver. The phone should power on now.

Yeah, I'm not really sure. If I fix it myself... they might not take it. But I really want those pics off so I'm going to give it a shot anyhow.

I don't see any reason why they shouldn't charge you for the second phone: the screen on the first shattered - mechanical damage, it has been opened - this is not allowed. All these will leave you without warranty.

The black glass shattered while it was in my pocket. The screen is fine. It sounds like a manufacturers defect to me.

Oh I did. The lady said broken glass voided the warranty. So I hung up and called back and just didn't mention it.
I don't get it, whats the warranty good for if shattered glass voids the warranty?...
the whole phone is practically a glass statue.

Exactly. The glass breaking randomly should be covered by the warranty, since it's the damn problem. They even updated the design to include nubs on the bottom of newer models to prevent the glass from touching any surfaces 100% flat.
I had to order some plastic tools to open the case. They should come tomorrow. The new phone hasn't came either, ordered Friday night.

it may be a manufacturers defect, but the fact the device is going to be tampered with, and opened up; at least from a business standpoint, they shouldnt have to replace it. i hope it all works out for you, but on their end, giving you the refund/replacement would be questionable business practice. they lose money from it but gain customer satisfaction... tough call lol.
Update:
My pry tools came into today and I was able to remove the back. I then removed 1 battery screw and I cannot remove the second one. It is so ridiculously tight that it started to strip the screw. I switched to a flat head that fit exactly and the screw bent the flat head. (cheap metal i guess)
So my plan now is to go to the hardware store and get a brand name 1.0 precision flat head which will hopefully work. If that doesn't work I think I have a small enough drill head to drill the screw out.
One problem after another... this phone is really pissing me off.

Nexus 4 Back Glass Replacement Help.

I know this is a silly question. But I cracked the back of my nexus 4 from a 1 foot drop, (out of my pocket while I was crouched down spray painting in the garage). Just before I did this I was starting to have battery issues, basically under 20% the phone doesn't charge unless its off. Even on the stock charger, it just loses power and then dies and turns off again. Its frustrating now because I lost my warranty due to cracking it.
So My question is, if I go on (Ebay) and buy that glass, will I be able to do a clean enough install that they will take it as warranty and not notice? I don't want to buy the whole back assembly because its rather expensive with all the antennas to keep everything working.
I'd like to hear your opinions, or from people who have replaced just the glass before. Thanks.

You can do it, you just have to take off the entire back cover, peel off the NFC and charging coils, and gently pry out the glass. Look up the thread where someone put in a second battery (total of 4200 mah) in his Nexus. He has removed the (shattered) back glass off of his phone, and replaced it with a plastic housing for the 2nd battery. You could see how he got the glass off without damaging the cover. The hardest part I would think would be getting the glass to stick on while keeping the stock look. I don't know what kind of adhesive LG uses to glue on the glass, but ideally you would want to use the same kind.

Any body with repairing phone experience here?

I cracked my screen so I ordered a new one. Taken the phone apart to replace the screen lcd was easy but when I finished putting it all back together and turned it on the microphone doesn't work. I have taken it apart more than 3 times already to see what is the issue.
Microphone doesnt seem to be ripped or broken. So i was just wondering what to do,
Will take some close up pictures and upload them if you like.
i actually took mine apart today to fix the glass and lcd...i ordered just the touchscreen glass not the lcd/digitizer combo...i actually seperated the glass from lcd somewhat easily but when i put my lcd on my bed...my cat jumped on my bed knocked the lcd to the ground and cracked it haha im so pissed so now i just ordered the combo....im not sure about ur mic, did u struggle to disconnect it when taking it apart? maybe u broke and piece of metal next to it?

Here is the combo that I bought from fixez.com. It was the only original that i could find online since others were not.
I had not trouble taking it out of its house. I see that it hooked to motherboard and then that square in the end and goes into that box but I dont see any connection in that box. And the other end from the motherboard and all of it around seems to be normal with no tear.
Edit. Took it apart again. And kinda pushed the thick wire of the microphone together. Still didnt worked. But tried something I havent tried. The microphone works when the phone is on speaker. Wth

Back Cover Opened and is not firm

hey
i bought this phone a week ago and after using it i realized some creaking sound in the middle of the back cover. so i viewed some threads and decided to open the back cover and see whats going on. i used my fingernail to open it and a credit card to snap it out. did it 3 times and came of like a charm and no crack sound or so. no i have installed it again and put it together from the bottom because i though its the best fit. now the creak sound is gone but i have a little(by little i mean really really little) gap between the back cover and the body. its on the two sides of the phone where there are antennas connecting to the back cover. its not a big one but when i press there it makes a little sound.i was wondering if i had damaged it or its because its opened and its something normal
thanks
