I just accidentally sent a picture message to my boss, wasn't meant to go to her. As I realized what I had done, I very, very quickly put the phone into airplane mode, (like 1 second after hitting send) and the message status says pending. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from leaving my phone? Reboot? Cache wipe? Dalvik? something? lol
What I've done so far, from within airplane mode: disabled mobile data.turned on delivery reports. force closed messaging app, cleared messaging cache.

If its a naked picture of you then I'd flash a factory image and wipe the phone completely and hope it doesn't go through. It could also be too late as it might be on your providers servers already and is pending from their end which is nothing you can do about. Maybe updating your resume is a good place to start.

:\ might turning on delivery reports be a good place to start? I'm afraid to exit airplane mode at all.. I did put it into airplane mode like, literally, a second after clicking send, if that means anything..
As I've never unintentionally sent out an mms to someone that shouldn't get it I really have no idea. Depending upon how offensive the mms is how I'd go about dealing with it. Is the phone rooted and unlocked? You flash a factory image by first booting into fastboot mode then use fastboot commands to flash the image. efrant has a guide in the general section.

Since you have data turned off go into the message app and see if you can delete the message if its still there. Clearing the data and cache from the app may have cleared it out. I don't know of any way to see if it was actually sent out and received or not. Guess you'll find out tomorrow. By the way is your boss hot and can I mms her a naked picture of me?
We've all been there... Good luck my friend!

Thanks but I've already done that.
What I have on the handset is all the twitters/posts/threads I have unfollowed, I want to be able to remove these
Log out of Twitter in the 'Data Settings' page in phone settings and it will remove all tweets, you can then resync your phone to Twitter and it'll get the ones of people you're following...

AH, log out and back in.
twitter tab - menu - settings - tap the top section(account settings) it will clear the cache when you log out, when you log back in it will refresh.
Oh, hang on, maybe it wont..... lol, pretty sure i tried that before and it worked, but just tried now and it didnt......
\Application Data\HTC\Twitter contains photo, you can clear it, it'll sync back
\Temp\TwiEng contains all the post in database. I usually delete it out every few days
make sure you turn off sense first because if Twitter tab is running, it'll lock the file in Temp and you cannot delete it (not sure if you log off, it'll still lock those file or not).
Your right, if you log out and log back in all the tweets are still there. I have considered creating another twitter account to see if switching accounts clears the cache. I also dont think it clears any old tweets automatically so this is an ever growing problem, the longer the device is used without a hard reset the more it will fill and the more lag there will be.
Im not technically minded to suggest anything else, i have tried to find the cache file in explorer but failed.
Can Any of you very clever people out there help on this one?
(yet another poorly tested buggy part of the HD2 .... but hey means we will never get bored )
I went into Data services in the main phone settings tab and turned it off using the toggle. It said it will clear all tweets. I logged back in using the toggle and signed in and had to get them down fresh...

Your right thats what it says, but i dont think thats what its doing. When I do exactly that it does appear to clear them but if you check after its reloaded the tweets, all the tweets are there going right back to your last hard reset (in my case 29th Jan) I have twitter set to download just the last 50 tweets but there are hundreds between the 29th and today.
I have also tried loggong into a fresh twitter account with no tweets, but when I log back into my main one they are still all there. This must be down to a cache file not being cleared properly, question is... where is the little blighter????????

Okay, i hope i make sense when i say this.
I have a VZW SGS4
My cousin has ATT SGS4
I can send a regular pic as a picture message, and in most cases, he would get it. But i took a picture of my plate of food, and send it to hiim, he said he got a messag saying he couldnt download. I resorted to emailing the pic. So today, he sends me a screenshot of what he had, and its saying the word DOWNLOAD in my messages, which i clicked, and its saying message could not download.
Weird because my messages are set to auto dl any MMS. So now im lost, whats causing this weird transaction. And i did do the update on his and my fone.both his and mine are up to date.
Am i missing something, is there a setting somewhere? Both are stock ROM, untouched! <<scratches head>>>> makes no sense!
There is a bug in your message app or MMS settings.
Double recheck the MMS setting and clear data of messages by pressing the messages app in recent and selecting app info then clear data. This will delete all your messages and your modifications in message settings.
If the problem is still there then......BACKUP AND RESET!

it persists even after reset because the firmware data is incomplete.

I can't hit back or anything. The home button will take me home. When sending I don't even see my message until everything returns. Anyone have any idea what may be causing this? TIA

Clear data will clear all your messages and makes the app like its still new. Probably a corrupted message file or anything can affect its performance.

So it will delete my messages?
This seems to be a well known issue with the S5 although the suggestions don't seem to fix my problem. The solutions also say to clear cache and data on the Samsung keyboard.
Maybe power-saving mode? It kinda lags the mobile. Reduces performance of some stuff to lag to save some battery. Not sure tho

You can back up text messages, i would try that and clear data, see how it goes, if it does nothing then just restore the back up.

Power saving mode is off. I thought this was related to using the Samsung Smart Switch app to recover everything from my iPhone. So I deleted everything, cleared the cache and data from the message app and the Samsung keyboard app. No luck with that either. However, I did discover the AT&T app for messaging that came pre-loaded on the phone and remembered another article that suggested trying another default messaging app. So I did and that seems to work much better. I know it's not a fix, but at least it's a workaround I can live with. I actually like this app because I have text, call history, and my visual voicemail all in one app.
There are plenty of complaints around the internet about this "bug" so maybe it will be something that gets addressed in Lollipop next month.
Mine lags because of the amount of messages I have stored. Will try to clear cache, but I don't think it works
Well if you looking for a messaging app, google's messenger app is pretty good too!
I have the newest firmware update and I just started having issues with messaging. When I use the stock messaging app If I try to attach a photo I get a force close message. When I receive one It will not download. I have used the google messenger and I cannot receive or send it just says it cant send and cant download. Then in hangouts is I use sms I can send and receive in a group message which I have mms turned on for so group mms works fine if I send a photo is goes through but says "Cannot be store" but I also am unable to download incoming photos. I did a factory restore and that actually made my led star working it used to only work for calls. But im still having the same problem Ive been through the prl and profile update I'm at a loss here and dont know what to do. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated,
Try wiping out your external sdcard. My wife had an issue where her images were being duplicated by the thousands and was killing space. The lack of space resulted in force closes and the entire phone becoming unstable. What made it even more strange was that these "duplicated" images were nowhere to be found on either her internal or external after viewing all the folders with ES File Explorer and most of the duplicates showed up in the gallery as blank images. Her external sdcard had stuff on it from her other phones and I believe it caused conflicts on the Sharp device. I pulled everything from her sdcard onto my laptop then placed her sdcard into my HTC One SV and used aparted (root required) to wipe and reformat the entire sdcard to fat32. She hasn't had an issue since. I told her to not put the stuff back onto her sdcard except for small stuff like pictures, and music. Anything else was to be left alone since we couldn't narrow down the exact culprit.
I'm having the same problem! No SD card for me.

I will try this tonight that sounds logical my phone is doing the same by duplicating pictures in my music app sometimes it shows doubles as well. Thank you I'll post later if it helps or not. I do not see why it wouldn't. Aparted is an app you can get from the playstore. Though, some people will be confused when they try to use it given it's gui layout. If you can do it via command-line then kudos for you. Aparted just makes it possible to do it on the phone with root and attempt to make it easier and more friendly. Which it is once you familiarize yourself with it lol. Good luck

well if it's a user app then start deleting them one at a time until the problem stops. If it's a system app then there isn't much you can do at this point since the device is still somewhat locked down.

Used to work fine..now cant recieve mms...
I was having the same problem also in figured out how to fix it. Go to your dial pad and press ##72786# then press ok. The phone will restart and then take a few minutes to provision your data services. This will not reset any data on your phone but just re-provision the data services on the phone. Somehow the APN settings must have got messed up on our phones when one of the messaging app updates happened. Good luck!
the workaround is to change the lockscreen to 'none' then power the phone off and back on, then put your lock screen back on, weird workaround but it works
I have been having the same issue and tried both methods discussed to no avail. After resetting the provisioning, now I get an error when sending MMS that states "Device not programmed, please wait." I updated both PRL and profile without error and I am now able to place and receive calls and texts and have 3G and 4G data but still cannot send MMS. I really don't want to call customer service. I also cannot roll back messaging app to previous version. I guess another factory reset is in my future.

When you get this error goto settings and click activate this device. This will did your problem..... Unfortunately the workaround I stayed earlier only seems to work until you restart. You then have to do the steps over again.
The only thing that fixes it, and temporarily I might add, is a reset via recovery. My fiancee and I both have had issues with this since we got the phone a little over a month ago. We also lose 4G LTE, continuously dropping to 3G, though we're in a massively covered tri-band 4G LTE area (or so says the networking team at Sprint, who, to get them on the phone, I had to throw out quite a few disparaging tweets and messages to on Twitter and the Sprint forums.) It's a bunch of crap, this phone. My advice: Reset the provisioning, then reset the entire device. It'll work, just try not to reboot the damn thing or you'll have to do it all over again.
I apologize for not posting the update on my findings. I discovered what my issue is, is that I had bluebox launching on startup which was causing the provisioning after reboot failing. So I uninstalled that app and rebooted, the provisioning completed without error and the issue was corrected. I did not have to perform a factory reset to correct it. Thank you all for your input and timely responses.

i got the stupid devil faced notification too. its also from com.sec.vsimservice . I never had this before but it seems ever since i started using Digits from t-mobile.
I cannot remove it for the life of me and it doesnt matter what rom i am on. I tried clearing cache and data and also blocking notifications but i can still see it when i pull down the notifications. I get it right after i send a chat message using default samsung chat app. BTW im on the note 5 t-mobile.
EDIT: i found out that vsimservice stands for virtual sim service. Well it must be freaken t-mobile Digits beta program... =/ so annoying.
I started getting the devil notification after root on stock every time I get a voicemail. I can clear it like any other notification, it's just annoying.

Mike the file nerd
I'm far from an expert at this but I could tell you how to avoid the problem in the future. I assume that if you have access to directories that contain system preconfig apps you must be running root privilege. Follow down the path to you're particular carrier. In my case I'm technically running on unlocked carrier but for the most part my phone still believes it is AIO(Cricket) ie boot still runs cricket sales code still runs as AIO. ECT. so in my example the file path would be /system/omc/AIO/etc. Inside your carriers file you will find several manifest (.xml) and text (.txt) files somthing along the lines of default_application_order.xml and/or enforcedskippingpackages.txt In my case on my s8 I have both. I haven't personally tried this yet so don't blame me if you try it and turn you phone into an 800$ paperweight (disclaimer) not to mention tampering xml is slightly outside of ethical phone use! That being said I'm of the opinion at least in my own case; if I pay for a device and don't have a contract against it i.e. I outright own the device I may set it up as i please. (Disclaimer) So ethics behind us. If I were to be experiencing this problem I would start by adding the problem pkg (...vsim...apk) whatever yours is called to the enforcedskipping.txt first (as it's slightly less unethical to change a text than a manifest) second find the system app either by an app like sysapp remover or like a real man inside the file system under probably something along the lines of "priv-app" dir or by superuser enabled terminals either abd via your computer/mac/linux whatever you run or by one of the many available terminals in the store of your choice and uninstall your problem apps (i highly suggest making a complete nandroid backup or tar or whatever recovery you use first and also saving a copy of the apk just in case) reboot your phone to recovery clear your cache partition remount the system and reboot. If this hasn't cleared up your problem back to recovery for a factory wipe with said modified files in place and backup ready. Reinstall everything then restore your backup via cmw/twrp/safestrap/bootstrap/odin/lgbridge/etc.etcetc whatever your preferred recovery method is your problem should be fixed. If still not mod the xml instead of the txt and restart from step one. Once again I do not know what dependency/gradles/etc may or may not depend on this what functions you may kill sim cards locked/ruined etc and I'm no professional so if you brickā ??? your ??that's on you for listening to an amateur enthusiast. Now I'm sure one of our wonderful experts here will come along and correct everything I've just said but I'm ok with this I listen to these guys every day I wouldn't know a fraction of the things I do without this wonderful forum and these amazing devs. So I appreciate their criticism as tutoring.

With all that said and out of the way I would like to hear from anyone who has tried this personally or other method for removing this as I myself was led to this particular thread because I was investigating the possibility of what I could change within this particular system app myself. I brick my phone phone twice a day usually so before I crash my very well set up system I usually investigate first the reciprocation/ramifications of adjusting system orientated files/apps.
