Okay, i hope i make sense when i say this.
I have a VZW SGS4
My cousin has ATT SGS4
I can send a regular pic as a picture message, and in most cases, he would get it. But i took a picture of my plate of food, and send it to hiim, he said he got a messag saying he couldnt download. I resorted to emailing the pic. So today, he sends me a screenshot of what he had, and its saying the word DOWNLOAD in my messages, which i clicked, and its saying message could not download.
Weird because my messages are set to auto dl any MMS. So now im lost, whats causing this weird transaction. And i did do the update on his and my fone.both his and mine are up to date.
Am i missing something, is there a setting somewhere? Both are stock ROM, untouched! <<scratches head>>>> makes no sense!
There is a bug in your message app or MMS settings.
Double recheck the MMS setting and clear data of messages by pressing the messages app in recent and selecting app info then clear data. This will delete all your messages and your modifications in message settings.
If the problem is still there then......BACKUP AND RESET!

I have done a reset on the fone yet. But i did do a clear defaults and cache, All failed!! could it just be a bad fone period?? I mean, it makes no sense. I took a pic of my computer screen and sent it to his fone.. all he got was a Triangle cone with the ! mark.. Almost reminds me of VLC media player icon
im going to try somethin else this weekend. Maybe the fone cant receive a 12 mp pic..

Ijust thougsomething, that kinda makes sense in my head.. Prolly wont make any bit of sense to you all tthough.. I could be wrong.
He bought the fone (sgs4) from bestbuy as an upgrade from his prior fone (Iphonne 4s)
Well im willing to bet the dummy at best buy did not do their job fully and change his plan. He cant have SGS4 with still using APPLE DATA PLAN. Im thinking it would cause some type of conflict, Thats what im thinking.. IM thinking they just swapped sim cards and called it a day!!

I already told you, it's a software problem.
it persists even after reset because the firmware data is incomplete.
FLASH A NEW FIRMWARE.
Or........??..... Ask Bestbuy.

I had to wipe my data to fix this =[
all is well now but it sucks
quite a while ago, sporadically, when i would receive an MMS, it was time stamped from 1999....so it went to the beginning of the chat log (stock messaging app) and 3 days later i happened to stumble across the message. Hasnt happened since tho. and i havent heard anything of that before lol..

A data wipe in recovery mode did it for u?
i noticed this with MMS, i did a wipe and it fixed for a while, but there is a workaround that i have noticed...i used Handcent and when reading the text click menu-->more---> save MMS...and the missing MMS/pic is there but it wont show up in the conversation. I dont kno why its doing this but it just does...

no now its just doing it again and I refuse to wipe everyday!!! hahaha Im gonna try a new rom Im using modaco 2.2 with his custom kernal maybe thats part of the problem?
hey so i have the stock rom..when i click on a text message can click the area it says to tap to type. the phone freezes and wont let me text then like 10 seconds or so sometimes if i start using the swype it works but doesnt show what i wrote until i re click the screen. anyone have problems with swype and texting with it freezing and not showing what you type? any fixes for this? i have tried to uninstall/reinstall swype and still same problem.
i have the same issue..... :-(
its not swype, its the long pause a lot of people get when they have a lot of txt messages, The screen can take a few seconds to load them, and nothing happens on screen while it does it, and then it selects the last message.
lol .... with all that memory hd2 comes with u think it should have that problem? pathetic... have same problem.. want to know how i fix it? i turned off the phone and went back to iphone 3gs .. thats the way u fix it...

hehe, thats one answer, my own workaround is to not store loads of messages, , blimey, most of mine get deleted as soon as ive read them. Never understood anyone that wants thousands of messages like some people do.

Same here.
I flash my phone so much that I never have that many text lol. But I tell all my customers who come in with slow phones to delete all their text at least once a week. There is no reason to keep them longer than that. They just sit there and take up space and slow your phone down. If you really cant part with them back them up to your computer then delete them off your phone.
Yes, just delete previous text messages and problem fixed! It usually starts doing that when you have like 60 previous messages on 1 contact
I just accidentally sent a picture message to my boss, wasn't meant to go to her. As I realized what I had done, I very, very quickly put the phone into airplane mode, (like 1 second after hitting send) and the message status says pending. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from leaving my phone? Reboot? Cache wipe? Dalvik? something? lol
What I've done so far, from within airplane mode: disabled mobile data.turned on delivery reports. force closed messaging app, cleared messaging cache.

If its a naked picture of you then I'd flash a factory image and wipe the phone completely and hope it doesn't go through. It could also be too late as it might be on your providers servers already and is pending from their end which is nothing you can do about. Maybe updating your resume is a good place to start.

:\ might turning on delivery reports be a good place to start? I'm afraid to exit airplane mode at all.. I did put it into airplane mode like, literally, a second after clicking send, if that means anything..
As I've never unintentionally sent out an mms to someone that shouldn't get it I really have no idea. Depending upon how offensive the mms is how I'd go about dealing with it. Is the phone rooted and unlocked? You flash a factory image by first booting into fastboot mode then use fastboot commands to flash the image. efrant has a guide in the general section.

Since you have data turned off go into the message app and see if you can delete the message if its still there. Clearing the data and cache from the app may have cleared it out. I don't know of any way to see if it was actually sent out and received or not. Guess you'll find out tomorrow. By the way is your boss hot and can I mms her a naked picture of me?
We've all been there... Good luck my friend!
Every time I try to send 2 or more pictures on my S5 I get this message ( Unable to attach file. File size too large. Try sending via Email, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc) . I cant send albums either. I never had this problem on my S3, so how can i fix this. I tried on the both data and Wi-Fi but no luck. To add, I have also changes the picture size from 16m to 6m and still having the same issue.
Its driving me nuts. My wifes POS Apple6 has no issues doing this, so why is my phone having having.
I'm running current stock rooted rom.
Anyone?
Bump.
Bump
No one else having this issue?
Last bump then I'm going with a Iphone LOL.

you answered your own question in your first post lol... the s5 is way better than the s3 and iphone 6.. the camera takes very high quality photos so what youre trying to send is most likely too much or too large a file size..
mms can only be sent via mms using mobile data and wifi can only send if you are sending via email for example..
try reducing picture size further or try taking a picture on lowest quality settings and try again.. i for one havent had this problem..
If you like iCrap then by all means go grab it over a picture message lol

Thanks for the help. I hate icrap so thats not gonna happen. I have dropped the pictures size to the smallest 6mb setting and still no luck. There has got to be a different work around.

6mb for one picture is still too large.. try checking settings in messaging app.. there should b settings to compress the image so it can be sent.. if its going to be over a certain file size it wont send over mms.. simple as that.. youre either doing something wrong or settings are wrong cuz ive never had a issue sending any mms

I know replacing it removes the rcs and volte icons that show up after rooting. That's all I know tho lol. It has to do with data service I believe.

If I remember correctly that should have to do with video calling but not positive.

Do we know anymore info on this? After rooting the s7 (at&t) everything was fine, accept sending texts through messeges failed. Then this notification came up, I could not remove it from notifications. I did a restart and got stuck in boot loop and had to factory reset. Now, I haven't finished root yet, but still on same rom and this has popped up again.

i got the stupid devil faced notification too. its also from com.sec.vsimservice . I never had this before but it seems ever since i started using Digits from t-mobile.
I cannot remove it for the life of me and it doesnt matter what rom i am on. I tried clearing cache and data and also blocking notifications but i can still see it when i pull down the notifications. I get it right after i send a chat message using default samsung chat app. BTW im on the note 5 t-mobile.
EDIT: i found out that vsimservice stands for virtual sim service. Well it must be freaken t-mobile Digits beta program... =/ so annoying.
I started getting the devil notification after root on stock every time I get a voicemail. I can clear it like any other notification, it's just annoying.

Mike the file nerd
I'm far from an expert at this but I could tell you how to avoid the problem in the future. I assume that if you have access to directories that contain system preconfig apps you must be running root privilege. Follow down the path to you're particular carrier. In my case I'm technically running on unlocked carrier but for the most part my phone still believes it is AIO(Cricket) ie boot still runs cricket sales code still runs as AIO. ECT. so in my example the file path would be /system/omc/AIO/etc. Inside your carriers file you will find several manifest (.xml) and text (.txt) files somthing along the lines of default_application_order.xml and/or enforcedskippingpackages.txt In my case on my s8 I have both. I haven't personally tried this yet so don't blame me if you try it and turn you phone into an 800$ paperweight (disclaimer) not to mention tampering xml is slightly outside of ethical phone use! That being said I'm of the opinion at least in my own case; if I pay for a device and don't have a contract against it i.e. I outright own the device I may set it up as i please. (Disclaimer) So ethics behind us. If I were to be experiencing this problem I would start by adding the problem pkg (...vsim...apk) whatever yours is called to the enforcedskipping.txt first (as it's slightly less unethical to change a text than a manifest) second find the system app either by an app like sysapp remover or like a real man inside the file system under probably something along the lines of "priv-app" dir or by superuser enabled terminals either abd via your computer/mac/linux whatever you run or by one of the many available terminals in the store of your choice and uninstall your problem apps (i highly suggest making a complete nandroid backup or tar or whatever recovery you use first and also saving a copy of the apk just in case) reboot your phone to recovery clear your cache partition remount the system and reboot. If this hasn't cleared up your problem back to recovery for a factory wipe with said modified files in place and backup ready. Reinstall everything then restore your backup via cmw/twrp/safestrap/bootstrap/odin/lgbridge/etc.etcetc whatever your preferred recovery method is your problem should be fixed. If still not mod the xml instead of the txt and restart from step one. Once again I do not know what dependency/gradles/etc may or may not depend on this what functions you may kill sim cards locked/ruined etc and I'm no professional so if you brickā ??? your ??that's on you for listening to an amateur enthusiast. Now I'm sure one of our wonderful experts here will come along and correct everything I've just said but I'm ok with this I listen to these guys every day I wouldn't know a fraction of the things I do without this wonderful forum and these amazing devs. So I appreciate their criticism as tutoring.

With all that said and out of the way I would like to hear from anyone who has tried this personally or other method for removing this as I myself was led to this particular thread because I was investigating the possibility of what I could change within this particular system app myself. I brick my phone phone twice a day usually so before I crash my very well set up system I usually investigate first the reciprocation/ramifications of adjusting system orientated files/apps.
