Motorola announced two new phones for the brazilian phone market. They both look similar to the RAZR i / M, but have other internals, smaller display sizes etc.
D1: 3,5 inch display, 1ghz, 1gb ram, 1785 mAh, 4gb storage + sdcard slot
D3: 4 inch display, 1,2ghz dualcore, 1gb ram, 2000 mAh, 4gb storage + sdcard slot
The interesting bit, why i posted it razr i-related:
They will be launched with 4.1 Jelly Bean, but an upgrade to the next android version is guaranteed. It looks like this could possible affect the razr i? If these phones get 4.2 or even more android versions, the razr m will get them too. And for the sake of x86 intel will push motorola to publish the same android version for the razr i.

Did you see the other Motorola "prototype"? It looks great, I mean, it looks something familiar to the Galaxy Nexus but when It cames from Motorola, I expect a high material and construction quality, only the back is the thing i didn't like it, its soo black and common...
My only 2 petitions for Motorola are (in design):
- PLEAAASEEEE, don't let the MicroSD slot die! These little friends are getting cheaper every day and its really stupid that some manufacturers don't release high spec phones with microsd slots...
- Keep the KEVLAR, it looks and feels great, it don't even scratch and accept it, its elegant, its like having Alcantara on your car seats...
Razr d1
is a great device has 1GB RAM, 1GHz processor and amrv7 4GB of internal memory. This is great for a smart entry in Brazil. has not yet root. :crying:
Can someone please create a topic for razr D1 here at XDA, many want to root it.

This Motorola Razr D3 XT920 is a spectacular phone. Bought one, dual sim, last week and worth every penny. Fairly small, smart and a impressive battery duration of 2 days in normal use (calling, checking e.mails, sending sms, etc.).
It has a dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU, android 4.1, 1GB RAM and 4GB Storage. An excelent configuration for what I do for a greeeat price. And one of the best things: no bloatware or dumb modifications. Almost an AOSP.
Clap clap clap clap for Motorola.

Guims, as any other android device, you can choose the language when turn on for the first time (or when you reset it to factory default).
Finally... ROOT for the D3 XT920. Do at your own risk.

I found it on their facebook profile in discussions tab. Heres the thread where they post it.
Italian Milestone 2 (just come on the market, with many months of delay) has 2.2.2 version.
I think it's the update we're waiting
My UK version has 2.2.
In a thread where I posted some bugs with this ROM, they also confirmed an update is on it's way. I however refuse to believe it will be 2.3. More like 2.2.3 with the keyboard fixed and mp3 cracking problem fixed.
Discussion not available...!?
I do expect some updates for my Motorola Milestone 2, too!
It's okay to not treat my M2 like a flagship but still, some updates for a brand new electronic device is obligatory nowadays!

does anybody know if this update would apply for phones in Asia/Asia-Pac?
its such a pity that such a stellar phone is let down by poor update schedules from the manufacturers.

Nope, in this post (Chinese) :

Hongkong Manager of Motorola said that Milestone 2 will not upgrade to 2.3 in Asia/Asia-Pac,
In P.R.China, even the version of Official Moto SBFs are MLS2GC_U6_2.5.0_SIGNED or some above 2.2, actually, they are still Android 2.2.

I agree fully with you. My prev. phone is a Sony-Ericsson one ( C702c ), and, they never fixed any bug in next three years after the phone release. Maybe Motorola will upgrade MS2 to Android 2.4 or some version later, but locking BootLoader is quite unwise, they should leave the choice to customer.
Sorry for my poor English.

my previous phone was an X1, and they only launched a ROM update with bug fixes and slightly better performance (still on WM6.1 though) a year after the phone was launched. sadly though back then, there wasnt much competition, nor were there many phones with a slide out QWERTY, and the X1 had the market dominance esp with its good looks and superior hardware. times changed though, and right now the MS2 is lagging behind its main competitor.
what i hear is the MS2's main competitor, the Desire Z is getting a 2.3 update within this quarter of the year. makes me kinda regret getting this. so what if the desire Z has a slower processor, at least they r updating its software diligently. hats off to HTC for that. Thing is upgrading to 2.3 is one thing, the least they can do is fix the known bugs.

QFT! I do not understand why the bug fixes have not been pushed out. The mods on the support forum have mentioned having newer firmware than retail, so I assume they have made some fixes, and there is this newer Italian firmware that has fixes too.
The worst part of it is being left in the dark.

Desire Z's processor is slower than Milestone 2, but Motorola just OVERCLOCKED OMAP3630, its design frequency is 720MHz, Motorola sales it as 1Ghz in MS2, and, motorola Droid 2 Global's CPU runs on 1.2Ghz for retail when OMAP3640's design freq. is 1Ghz. Besides, Adreno205(41M Polys/s & 245M Pix/s) in Desire Z is more powerful than SGX530 (14M Polys/s & ?M Pix/s), means Desire Z has a greater graphic performance.
At least, HTC never locks BootLoader.
Forget it, maybe my next device is not a motorola one, but I'm enjoying MS2 now.

The OMAP3630 is designed for 1GHz. It's the OMAP 3620 that is designed for 720MHz.
The Adreno 205 is indeed more powerful according to benchmarks, but I think you should consider the detail that Motorolo's handsets use a higher resolution than most other devices (just by 54x480 pixels, but still).

Old Android devices from HTC are also locked AFAIK, but not with such high encryption as used by Motorola...

I was really confused, I saw the data at wikipedia like this in early 2011:
Handset channels:
OMAP3640 - 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 430 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)+IVA 2+ hardware accelerator
OMAP3630 - 720 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 430 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)+IVA 2+ hardware accelerator

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Texas_Instruments_OMAP&oldid=406270321
Actually, I learned this in most sites in Chinese said 3630 designed for 720Mhz at first. But current page of Texas Instruments OMAP on Wikipedia said 3630 designed for 1Ghz and 3640 designed for 1.2Ghz. And, http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/OMAP just described like wiki English before.
I can't found any frequency data on TI official site. Anyone have ideas on this?

This is seemingly a clone of the Atrix for the most minus a few specifications like 8mp cam, dual sim and 8gb onboard instead of 16gb.
what intrigues me is that it comes with Gingerbread with motoblur, the fact that they have released it WITH motoblur means that they should be near completion of gingerbread for the atrix as well.
something that makes me wonder :-
Is the bootloader unlocked ?
If we get a dump of this phone, can it be ported to the atrix ?
and so on...
There is already a thread discussing this phone.
besides it doesnt have webtop, if i dont mistaken. but it has dual sim and dual standby, thats pretty awesome!

where ???? i wanted to point ginger bread and an idea towards porting to atrix more than discussing this phone
its china only
like the cliq 3, theres already one in there, with 1.4ghz 1gb RAM 4 inches with digital tv, its great, buts only in china avaible =(
the hardware of that phone is diferent from ours(that has no HDMI and no WebTop, big diference from ours), so no need to be happy for that be avaible(chinese guys can be happy about it! =p), and relax, soon(1 or 1/2 months) gingerbread will be released =)
As other phone of XT series,
they never get official update,
worse than the case of Milestone (Droid),
so its better to buy Atrix

The is no custom ROM's or leaks for the "XOOM 2" at the moment due to the locked bootloader, you can only root at the mo. However Motorola recently has been hinting on Twitter that an unlockable bootloader tool is coming, so if they are telling the truth this time then development will come after they release the tool. If you want a dev friendly Xoom tablet I would go for the original but if you fancy waiting a while then I would go for the Xoom 2.

I will say its worth the money. The XOOM 2 has a sexy display, design and weighs lighter than the original Xoom. Plus Motorola should be rolling the ICS update next month hopefully. I will say buy it if you want a device which does the job. But you can always read the reviews from tech sites.

Huh? Google has nothing to do with the Xoom 2 whatsoever. The original Xoom was Google's baby and is the Google Experience Device that showcased Honeycomb. It was a Nexus in all but the name.
The Xoom 2 is all Motorola from the customized ROM to the bootloader that's locked down tighter than a gnat's ass. Google does not support the Xoom 2 in any way, shape or form.

True, but they didn't when the Xoom 2 was first released, and Google has made it abundantly clear that, for the forseeable future at least, Motorola is going to continue to run as its own independent company.
It really has to be that way if you think about it, because the last thing Google wants is to piss off their major OEM partners like HTC and Samsung by putting all their marketing resources into Motorola and having Motorola release nothing but phones running in stock Android configurations. That would put an enormous dent in HTC and Samsung's sales and that's a calculated risk that Google can't take because without HTC, Samsung, and Motorola, Android is a mere drop in the bucket as far as the smartphone world goes; and don't think for one minute that HTC and Samsung wouldn't find alternative operating systems or platforms to use if their Android phones weren't moving units.
Nevermind the fact that Verizon is Motorola's bread and butter right now, and Verizon would happily give the DROID trademark license to another OEM if Googarola went to Verizon and said "From this point forward we're releasing nothing but stock Android devices with no bloatware." How do you think that'd go over with Verizon? Yeah, exactly. haha

Edit: Well guys, it's official now..hope razr I will receive android 4.4 soon..
[STATUS]
MOTOROLA RAZR i
The device runs KitKat 4.4
And the future plan is....
"This device will remain on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)"
They do owe us an answer about upcoming support and they are taking long on it. But i don't know if that answer's gonna be upgrading or letting phones die. I mean, they announced and released moto x, and then they just announced another line of phones. Only ones with secure upgrades are d1 and d3 and it's only for 4.2... Things ain't looking pretty good for razrs
RAZR I is 13 months and 2 weeks old, google keeps 18 months support for nexus line, and wants to kill fragmentation with Android 4.4, who supposedly should work smoothly even on older hardware - so, theoretically, I think there is still some chance for RAZR I ... but Motorola still is not google, and I've read somewhere that RAZR I was an experiment for Motorola because of Intel processor, I think that now everything depends if that experiment succeeded. Maybe also Intel would have something to say, but they have already new architecture out.
So, considering all above I'll give 50/50 for an update to 4.4.

the thing is, the razr I is still being sold on many markets, at least in Arg, Brazil, and the UK, not updating this device will be catastrophic, I mean you are OUTDATING a device that you *still* sell? its idiotic, if thats the case, I'm NEVER going to buy from motorola again, I partially bought this device because of the promise of delivering new software updates, and yet, we still are in a version that was released BEFORE the launch of our device.
TBH, I have faith, the razr HD developer edition was confirmed to recieve the update, and that probably means the M too, so I think we could recieve it as well, however it will be the last update for sure.
I hope so ) i was going to sell my Nexus 4 to buy a RazRi (AGAIN) It's such a nice phone i wish CyanogenMod released a rom for it then i would sell up and get the RazRi back
I don't think we'll get 4.4. Maybe 4.3 if we're lucky. Intel have a big part in this too, and whether they co-operate or not is important.

Motorola is skipping 4.3 update, so Kit Kat or no new updates at all.

It doesn't say anything, gsmarena is just picking the info by motorola, the only devices confirmed to be remaining on jb are the first razr line, ours is in "future plans coming soon"

What makes you think that? You realise there isn't a single mention of older Motorola devices. Jumping to conclusions too soon..

My previous phone (sony xperia sola) didn't receive an official jelly bean update even if it was still on market. But i don't believe that intel will let the phone die so soon.

Well, sony has a bazillions of phones, sola is a low end device, and they have their own skin. Moto on the other hand, doesnt have a custom skin anymore, on some markets (UK) they offer 2 devices only (razr i, razr hd), and ours was (still is actually) a mid range. So I think we have a chance, is not the same situation.

I think, we will stay and die on 4.1.2
Main problem is, that every country which is not called USA is "Rest Of The World" for Motorola. And in USA the Razr I is not available.
Next thing is, that the Razr I was sold before Moto was bought from google. So the old pipeline doesn't exist anymore.
I don't care much if we get updates or not. All I want is just a cyanogenmod support which we might be getting soon. Cyanogenmod is a beast which makes our phone is much more usable. Been using it since old Milestone 2. I'm using it as a daily driver on my Photon Q. Will be loving it more if it's available on Razr i. Never experience it on an Intel devices yet.

Well I just wrote on the Punit Soni (VP, Product Management at Motorola Mobility (Google)) google plus profile this:
You better update the razr i, its still your flagship in many countries, also remember the 18 months of support motorola REMEMBER, you promise ;_;

so he is either making fun of us for believing in moto (lol) or is just a hint.
Also, intel android kernel for atom devices is up to 3.8 (same version as KitKat).
I want to believe

Came to bring you some infos
I was looking for the news on a local brazilian website called Baixaki and found this.
http://www.tecmundo.com.br/kitkat/4...s-sao-os-aparelhos-com-suporte-ao-sistema.htm
It's in Portuguese so i'll translate for you. Forget about the text. Look for the facebook comments.
According to Wesley Albertto and Walter Figueiredo, they've contacted MotorolaBR support looking for the 4.4 update to Razr I and surprisely they answered razr hd and i will receive 4.4. Moto will skip 4.2 and 4.3 and go straight to kit kat, toguether with razr d1 and d3.
Hope you guys find more info, and sorry for my bad english
