So I have the known freezing problem, where it freezes and have to reboot.
Well started having WiFi issues as well, ****ty connection, to having to turn off and turn back on the connection because it wouldn't work at all. This is related to the freezing problem correct? Also, how does it seem to be getting worse? Shouldn't it just be the same until they send an update?
Yes, I have tried all suggestions options.
From what I've read here on the forums along with a few other sites is that the WiFi freeze is an issue with GNex and 4.2.1. Just hold tight for an update and the issue should be fixed.
But with random reboots, are you using a stock ROM and Kernel?

Yes it's stock everything.
Started noticing other things, think it's related to WiFi somehow, for example this site will not let me log in, I type my credentials it says thanks, and then loads the page again without my logged in. Also, another site does not let me type, i hit the first letter and the keyboard goes away.
Some weird things. Hoping it will all be fixed with an update.
I think I also noticed a very small light bleed (only noticeable on the nexus loading screen), should I try to exchange it or is that pretty much the same on all devices?

Hmm, if your device does suffer from light bleed, then it should be reproducible (In my opinion).
To try and reproduce it I would do this:
Turn brightness all the way up and disable the AUTO setting
Download the app, Display Tester, from the Play store (There is a myriad of similar apps, find one for you)
Optional: Check for dead pixels by cycling through the colors
Get to the black preset and see if you notice any shades of white coming through. If the black is consistent with the remainder of the screen, then no bleed. If not, they you may have some
Truth be told, I've read many posts in-which people complain how this is their Nth unit. If you feel that the minor bleed ruins your experience with the device, then return it. If not, then enjoy it! My personal opinion is to keep the device and not risk receiving a device with greater issues. And with the wifi lag, are you using Chrome as your browser? If so, I would try boat Browser (Flash Support) or Dolphin Browser with Jetpack. If that solves the WiFi issue (credentials) then there you go! If it doesn't then you can always try flashing a ROM or Factory Resetting. Good luck! :good:
I will try that out.
And with the browser, it's not just the browser with issues, other internet apps do have issues as well.
*update
I tried the test, and it seems there are two small areas at the top right side of the screen. I can only see it on black, so it does not wreck my experience.
Something like this, does it get worse? The year warranty that it has, is this something they will fix/replace?
I found you can fix wifi issues temporarily by switching the channel to 8 or anything other than 11

You talking about the tablet itself, or in my router settings? How would I do that on the tablet?
I checked my router, it's on Channel 6, so not going to help me.
You should be able to change the channel, but I don't see a correlation between the two.

Changing the wifi channel may help, it would depend on your network and the networks around you though.
I've had the same issues with wifi it's an absolute nightmare. I thought my first tablet was genuinely faulty since I couldn't find too many complaints here about the wifi. However the replacement I have been sent is the same. I'm not sure if it's an issue with 4.2 and certain routers but I had the wifi drops, and more annoyingly I had poor wifi signal that would frequently drop to no bars and cut the video I was watching at the time. Very frustrating.
I have not had a chance to test my nexus 4 however the wifi reception on that is pretty poor too while my old desire hd is fine so I'm sure it's android. Not sure how long it's going to take for a fix of any kind, there are a few reports on the Google submission page with a lot of replies.
Best thing to do is to submit a bug report to Google. At the very least it may get them to actually acknowledge that there is a problem with jelly bean.
Yeah it's starting to pass me off, it's getting worse by the day. Almost unusable.
Not sure if I should send back or wait for update.

I'm writing here out of frustration that I've been having with the Acer Iconia.
So I got the tablet about like early last week when it went on sale at Target. The tablet of course came with 3.0.1 and I waited a few days for it to receive the 3.1 update but it always gave me the "your device is up to date" thing. Ok fine so I'll just install the update myself so I updated to the latest version (4.010.11) using the update.zip method. Yay so now I have 3.1!
But of course the problems aren't over.
Before and after the update I had problems with WiFi (unable to connect because of looping) and I'd usually be able to "fix" this problem by resetting my router and modem. But what about when I go to college or any outside public place? I won't be able to go to them and ask them to reset their damn router -___-.
And the other annoying problem: the mic. Yes I've searched about the mic problem and looked at every thread that was created about it. It has to do with the noise canceling, etc. But I can't really video chat when the mic has crappy quality. Ok so I decided to go back to Target and exchange it for a new Acer Iconia (which I did yesterday).
When I got it and opened it, it seemed to be packaged a bit differently than the older tablet and seemed a bit newer (in comparison to the old packaging). And as soon as I connected it to my WiFi, an update appears!!! Cool so as I'm setting up the tablet, 3.1 is downloading in the background. Once it's done and the Tablet resets, everything seems cool. I try out the front cam using the stock Camera app and there was a moment where the camera only showed some odd green screen (as if it was unable to connect to the camera) and in a few seconds everything was cool. I even tried the mic and it was much better. I took it out with my to my friend's place and was able to connect to his internet with no issues. And then I went home and connected to my WiFi and once again it did the looping issue . I tried ignoring it and just reset my router (I tried assuming that it was my router's problem since my computer also has issues sometimes when it comes to reconnecting to WiFi after it turns on from sleep mode).
So then I go to sleep and wake up this morning. I decide to check for an update on my tablet for lulz and to my surprise there was another update (4.010.13)! Go through the update process with the power plugged in, android gear thingy keeps going, and the bar looked like it stopped moving 95% of the way and the tablet reset. So then it turns on and it says that all apk have been loaded but I don't see the "update successful" msg. But then I check "about tablet" and it appeared that it had updated successfully. *whew*
But of course another problem appears. Remember how the front camera had a slight moment? Well I tried using the front camera and it gave me that same green flickering screen and wouldn't show. Once again it appeared to have a problem connecting to the actual hardware camera. I tried force closing the camera app and opening it again but it didn't fix anything. Tried closing and opening the tablet but it didn't fix the problem. Tried pressing the reset button but that didn't fix it. And of course I decided to reset the whole thing but that didn't fix it! And I tried using the front cam with the Google Talk app and it still didn't work (still gave me the green flickering screen).
BLAH! Should I exchange the tablet for another Acer Iconia or just give up on it and get a different one? I honestly like the build of the tablet and all the features it offers (like the ports) but those issues are just stopping me from fully enjoying the tablet and being able to use it for the purposes I got it (video chatting, WiFi, etc.)
EDIT: Here's a video of the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuAhgWQgCq0&feature=channel_video_title (Ignore the "4.010.13" in the title. I didn't mean to say that all 4.010.13 tablets will have this problem; only meant that my tablet was on 4.010.13)
I'm on my second iconia and absolutely love it. The first was almost perfect, but battery wouldn't charge beyond 88%.
I've tested out every possible thing about it, and everything is completely solid.
To exchange it for another iconia or something else is entirely up to you. I'm just telling you that what you describe I don't experience at all. My wifi connects instantly to whatever signal I tell it to connect to. My cameras also work perfectly. Mic also perfectly and makes me go through to the other side just fine. In fact, I've been using the iconia to have conferences with people I know to discuss about our plan to take over the world.
The point is there will always be a black sheep in the flock. Even the ipad 2, apple's star product and the most sort after tablet right now, is getting reports of problems left and right. The most common seems to be light bleeds and face time freezing.
Go for another tablet if you feel like it. Your choice. I'm just telling you there's such a thing as a perfect iconia, and I have it.

I understand and respect your good intentions. I'll think about it through out the day and I might exchange it for another Iconia. If another problem arises then I'll just check out another tablet.
Also I added a video of the problem at the bottom of the original post up there ^^^
The wifi issue was an atrocity that affect(s) a lot of people. Mine did it one time right after the 3.1 update, I did a fix on the tablet and it never has done it again, and since the latest update hopefully won't.
It does appear to me that something is wrong with your camera however. Mine has never done that and it does not appear to be a software issue. I think there's something physically wrong with the front facing camera - loose connection or something.
eh maybe the stockboys took their liberties with stock the shelf with iconia. Maybe just have the manager open one up with you and check those eature out before you leave the store. Mine has been great.
All the honeycomb tablets have their issues and run the same hardware so your not missing out leaving this tablet or keeping it. only thing is atleast the xoom gets updates fast(if your subcribing to verizon but the wifi version is not that far behind anywhos)
I keep hearing people complain about the mic, luckily that isn't an issue for me though as I don't use my tablet for video or audio chat anyways And surprisingly I haven't had the WIFI issue either, it has worked like a peach all the way from the start. The only issue I've had with my tablet has been the fact that it took Acer forever to release EMEA_GEN3 firmware update, nothing else so far.
Maybe I've just been lucky?
After watching your video, i can say is a hardware fault. Exchange again the tablet and check on the store that everything works. Mine works wonderful and I love this tablet.
I have two Iconia tablets and confirmed that both cameras in each tablet work in 4.010.11 and 4.010.13.
I've also not had an issue with wifi. If this is an ongoing issue, it might be an incompatibility with your router.
For the camera, most likely hardware defect, mine doesnt have that problem. For the wifi, however the update supposedly fixed it, but if you have the same problem as I do, root your device (its easy!) And download an app like es file explorer and go into the settings and enable both root settings. Turn off wifi, and in es file explorer delete both files in /data/miscellaneous/dhcp. Sounds like a pain but it really only takes thirty seconds and fixes it for a few days. As for replace versus a different unit, I recommend getting another iconia. I compaired all of the tablets hheavily, and all of them have their issues. The iconias issues, however, are by far the easiest to deal with
If this post was helpful, give thanks
I to have had not one issue with my tab. Well other then a few things I screws up.that camera issue looks like bad hardware or the cable from the can to system board is loose.I did drop my tab and found the connectors inside were not secure for video.I took mine apart. Take yours back since you just got it.tell them to get you one from a different box or take it back to a diffrent target store.
I once bought a awesome TV from Walmart I returned 4 of them was going to get a fifteenth brand but decided one more try.I went across bridge into Jeff Indiana walmart exchanged it. And never one sec trouble was a bad batch at the walmart 3 miles from my home.
Sorry for such a long story in blonde giggles
Just like every other product in life, sometimes we get lemons - not just lemons, rotten lemons.
Your A500 may be an example of a rotten lemon. No way to even turn it into lemonade.
You said you've done a factory reset and you're on the newest build of software, there's basically nowhere else to turn and nothing else to do. As a customer, you've done your part. I would say, do an exchange and as I think I glimpsed someone else mentioning, open it up and use it at the store. Check for hardware faults. Mind you, slow GPS locking and Wifi issues may not necessarily indicate a fault, but that camera issue definitely does.
That is of course, IF you want another A500 anyway. At this point, no one here could blame you if you wanted to try on something else. In your place, I probably would. Once bitten, twice shy. I give every brand 2 chances when it comes to a product. If I end up getting 2 duds (and I've only had this happen ONCE) that's where I draw the line and I gladly move on to something else.
Good Luck and whatever you decide to do, hope to hear from you again with your results...either loving on a new tablet, or loving on a working A500.
WOW Sorry to hear you have had so many issues. I bought my wife one for reading and web surfing for her birthday and she and my daughter got me one for my birthday. My kid has a Galaxy and she had some of the issues you have had with the acer. Granted she works at best buy and they had some issues with that lot she had bought hers from. I have khad the wifi issue at first and went to the acer web site and installed the fix from them before i had rooted mine. At first i had to do the reset thingy with a small paper clip. But have not had any other issues than that. I would do the return thing at a diffrent store maybe you got into a bad lot. I hope it changes for you.
Do a double reset (paperclip in the reset hole with power on) and power cycle. Then restore the factory settings under the security menu, which will also wipe all your settings and data. This solved all the probs my son was having in his A500.

I have largely very few issues while using the Netgear PVT3000 with my Windows 8 laptop but have severe lag/pauses/drop outs with the Note 3. I also tried the Note 3 yesterday with a 2013 Samsung TV and things were better but still very laggy and with drop outs. In both cases things get better after a few minutes of the connection but eventually collapse. The common factor here is the note 3 and perhaps using miracast as opposed to Intel Widi protocol. All of this has been done within very close range and full bars being reported so signal strength isn't the issue. As there are no options to play with it kind of works or doesn't work - in this case it doesn't.
Wondered if anyone else has had more luck or has some suggestion because this is stopping me from becoming much less reliant on my laptop.

which firmware are you using?
Since you guys at least seem to have it working maybe you could help me...
I can't get screen mirroring to work.
The PVT acts like it is going to connect but then it freezes on "Connecting to the wireless display device..." even though my phone says the connection is good.
It shipped to me with 2.4.26 already on it and I am having a hard time getting any other firmware to load. It seems to always fail.
Netgear support is being pretty useless on it since Note 3 isn't officially supported but it did the same thing with my GF's Note II.

There isn't much that should stop some kind of connection being established one the dongle has had a minute to boot - the obvious one is to disable the power saving option on the note 3.
I'm very disappointed and surprised more people aren't doing widi mirroring and reporting issues with it.

I agree. Would really like to know what firmware is working for anyone with Note 3. I thought there may be a custom version floating around. Which version are you guys on?
My latest update from Netgear is they want to do a hardware RMA. I'm not entirely convinced that it is hardware but there's no other posts about this that I can find.
I tried every firmware on their site and got the same result with Note 2 and 3.

RMA will be pointless, I've got two pvt3000s - both with the same issue with the galaxy note 3.
Got onto Netgear who advised me to try different firmwares and I went for v2.4.3 and found that it eliminated all of the drop out and most of the timing issues (except for youtube which lags 2-3 seconds behind what is happening on the phone but as the sound and video are sync'd, it's not really a problem).

I was on a mostly stock rooted rom. Now I even went back to unrooted stock rom. Obviously my Knox is tripped but everything else is bone stock. It still won't connect. Going to scour xda today too see if there's some patch for mirrorcast for if you have ever rooted
Hoping someone may have some advice, myself and two friends managed to bag an amazingly good deal for a Tab A 10.1 with o2 UK (£52 in total), problem being we're all having wifi issues.
One friend requested a replacement and the replacement has the same issue too, so thats 4 tablets in total.
The issue is wifi just seems to randomly stop working, it shows a full signal but you can't access any sites or play store or stream anything etc. You then have to either wait until it decides to work again or manually turn wifi off and back on at which point it carries on as normal for however long it decides to work for. Rinse and repeat.
I bought it basiclly as a streaming device and I can't use it because eveeything buffers constantly due to the wifi issue so I'm back using my old iPad.
I spoke to samsung support yesterday and they said it's a known softeare issue but no idea when the update to fix it will be released, I'm two days out of my 14 day return window so I can't return it.
There's a samsung store not far so will take it in tomorrow to be checked over but I thought I'd ask here as I'm new to android, so imagine there's people here far more knowledgable than me and may have some ideas I could try. I've already tried a factory reset and rebooting my router, I have virgin media so have tried both 2ghz and 5ghz network types. Non of which has helped. My friends have different ISP's to me so can't be a VM issue either.
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks
Have you updated your the latest firmware?
Incidentally this happens on the Tab A 7 too. No idea when Samsung will/if fix it either.
Might be worth trying a static ip address.

Well it's improved some, b ut still not what I'd call stable. And I'm not sure if the improvement has come from the software reflash or the static ip address.

I don't know if it's the driver module or the actual wifi hardware that's causing the issue, but it is annoying.
I haven't bothered tracing the issue because I don't use my Tab A enough to let it bother me.
If you could pull the logcat when it happens, it might give an idea what's going on.
I recommend the syslog app.

Apologies I'm not familiar with that app, so have no idea if I've done this correctly.
I installed syslog and tried to stream something on BBC iPlayer, the issue occured immediately so I went into syslog and saved the log. Have attached the logcat.
Again, apologies if I've not done it correctly I've never used the app before, if it's not right please just let me know how to correctly capture the log and i'll do it again.
Thanks.
Well I give up. I can't think of anything else to do.
I requested a replacment in the end because the wifi issue is so bad, the replacement has the exact same issue. So that's 5 out of 5 with the same issue.
Samsung support are utterly useless, they say it's a software issue and will be fixed with an update but have no idea when or if that update will be released. I had hoped the update the tablet received yesterday would have helped but nope.
So far I've restored to factory, cleared the cache, reset my router, taken to the service centre for a software rebuild - non of that helped, so I requested a replacement, which has the exact same issues.
Can't say I'm impressed with samsung. Will be avoiding in future!
i'm having the same issue. have to return it - can't use it for work if the vpn is dropping every two minutes. there are a number of posts here and elsewhere on this - like this one.
i'm sure that there are lots of frustrated customers and lots of soon-to-be refurbished devices. i'm returning mine (sadly).
btw, i also had this issue on my old 2014 tablet (SM-P600) and it cleared up once i moved to a custom ROM. i'm assuming samsung fixed it eventually but new devices have same issue. samsung is doing something weird and wrong to be shipping so many devices with flawed wifi.
my note 8 does not have this issue at all. happily connects and stays connected anywhere, anytime.

Having 5 tablets with the exact same symptoms says to me that it isn't a hardware problem. If each tablet has the same OS version, it only makes sense to try another version. I'd go to the Sammobile site and download the latest firmware from a couple of different regions and install them with Odin.
There is an app on Play called WIFI Fixer by Zanshin-g1.
It completely fixed the wifi connection issues on my Tab A.
Hi, when WiFi is enabled (doesn't matter if connected to a wireless network or not) I can hear from the top of the phone static noise probably due to interference, this is very annoying during calls. When I turn off WiFi this strange noise disappear.
I think this isn't so normal. Has anyone run into the same issue?*
Send phone back to OnePlus, they should give you a new one.
Same with me. But is barely noticeable!
I'm experiencing this on Wifi and on cellular data as well. It's actually very annoying. Does anyone know why this could be happening? Is this like a warranty thing? Or. I have no idea how to approach this sort of thing.
It happened to me too one time. but it went away after a second update. No issue there. Happens to a lot of phones. Nexusline and even iPhones have it.

maybe it depends on more than just your wifi, there could be many interference signals. I dunno, I am not a developer.

I'm on 4.5.3 now and no change at all. Never have experienced this before and this is my like, 10th Android phone.

The unusual thing for me is that the issue disappeared and came back 2 or 3 times from Friday to today.

I was finding that when I moved my head away or pushed the phone against my ear that the frequency of the sound would change too. Kind of like it was reacting to the distance. It could have also been that the tone changed since I was at different distances. I don't even have enough posts to submit a bug report on the OP forums. Can someone go do that? Maybe this is a warranty item. I saw nothing at all there about this issue when I scrolled through 10 pages of other things.
In have the same issue, on wifi and cellular data. It's not that annoying, but still.. Hope this can be fixed with an update.
OP5 brand new mobile creates buzzing sound
really i am also facing this buzzing issue at the receiver ...i have tried in safe mode also *#808# but no use the same buzzing sound comes ...... not continuous , but often which irritates and annoys me ..
The 4.5.5 update fixed my issue. Hopefully it does for everyone else. I will report back here if it happens again.
Anyone else seeing this on occasion? It seems like every few days I'll have some sort of radio issues on this device, and it's continued despite having all recent software updates.
Sometimes wifi or LTE will suddenly die, even though both icons appear completely normal in the status bar...a handful of times I've had the mobile network suddenly die and have an 'x' over the status bar icon while showing zero bars. Sometimes a toggle off and back on of the problematic radio will fix the issue until next time, and sometimes a full reboot is necessary.
Aside from the minor screen tinting issue and this issue I really love the phone, but it does become somewhat annoying. And I know it's not just this device, as both OP8P phones I've had have done the exact same thing, and my wife's OP8 does the same thing too....so it's gotta be a software/VZW/etc. thing. Is anyone else here seeing similar things and/or found any resolution other than having to toggle/reboot? Thanks!
I've noticed this same thing too (OP8P on VZW) but for me it seems to only really happen at work which I find odd. Haven't found any permanent solutions myself though unfortunately. Just kinda randomly happens occasionally.
OP is working on a fix, at least for t-mobile germany. Read that in the german t-mobile support forums. Likely a bug in the SD modem. However I don't know if that addresses the wifi issue.

Interesting...mobile data seems to be the far more often culprit in my experience (and more critical, since certain things like SMS/MMS/calls/etc. get killed dead if that goes out). Any chance you still have the link for that post?
