Hi all,
I have defy with the latest Quarx CM10 2ndboot CM10-20121205-NIGHTLY.
When I installed for the first time CM10 2ndboot about a month ago the battery was INCREDIBLE! It lasted for about 2 days..
I have updated to the latest version and I really have problems, the battery is discharging so quickly.
Battery stats state:
Screen 50% (so unusual it wasn't like this before)
Mediaserver 16%
Jango 13%
Cell standby 13%
Phone idle 5%
Android 3%...
I must add that I have been using the phone as usual, over the past months..
Is there any help?
Thank you very much!
I don't know how you managed 2 days. I don't remember a CM10 build where the battery lasted me through a single day even with vsel1 underclocked. Regardless, the latest build is not considered good and people are sticking to 17.11 or 18.11 at the moment. If you want battery life however, ditch CM10 and flash Maniac's latest CM7 nightly.
Thanks!
Is there any other alternative to downgrading?
Cheers

I'm currently using Cyanogen 6.0 RC3 with the Kernel that came with it, and I'm not too impressed with the battery - seems to be draining a lot when on stand by. Just curious on the best battery-saving Kernel out there that is stable and is great with battery percentages.
Try some of wildmonks UV kernels.
I'm also wondering about this. Im currently on kmobs #48 kernel. I have set cpu with profiles set up to under clock when screen is off. Anything else I could try. And no I don't want juice defender.

x2 i've been running 2.6.35.4_SVS-950mV_CFS_AXI_720p_1113MHz_082710.zip on the latest nightlys and battery life has been very good
Just flashed the 1190mhz WildMonk's Kernel and it seems to be a little laggy, can't comment on the battery usage though (I will tomorrow).
I've been reading and people are saying >1190mhz is very stable, but I've been seeing that people are clocking it much lower than 1190mhz (at 1133mhz). I don't care about the speed, I just want my phone to last longer, and to not crash.
Should I flash the 1133 instead of the 1190?
2.6.35.4_SVS-950mV_CFS_AXI_720p_1113MHz_082710 is extremely stable on CM6 & offers much better battery life than stock kernel.
I use it with GPRS/Wifi on full time, moderate browsing (about 1 hr), 20-25 SMS's sent, 50 SMS's received & around 1 hr of talk time. Leaves me with more than 30% juice even after 24 hrs.
To do better on battery life, avoid using the live wallpapers & use a black/dark
static wallpaper.
Cheers !

Battery life on latest CM Nightlies has been very impressive with the included kernel.
i saw him tweet this... whats CM nightlies?
Pershoot is number one, no question about it.

I have brightness at 100% full-time (Love it!), I have live wall papers 100% (Love it!) of the time and have 3g always with 2 Gmail accounts push via K-9.
GPS off, BT off. WiFi off.
I have CM6.0 with this kernel (1 month old version). It is OC, UV + Extra RAM with no HD(?).
I doubled my battery life on CM6 and very easy get 1 day out of it, almost never below 30% - from 7am to 11pm. I'm at 49% (midnight) with my average use.
If I stream radio, I drain about 15% per hour on 3g. I drain about 5% to read top 20 news on Engadget app (twice a day)
This is my second kernel from this developer. I used one with 2.1 and now with 2.2. I know I'm coming again for the new one when I feel I need to.
I do not limit my usage, as I WANT to kill my battery, but can't succeed.

Which NAND Build has the longest battery life in your experience?
A friend of mine told me DorimanX has an up to 5 days life in standby. Is that true?

That's true
Android is less efficient that wm, though smoother (web browser)
I checked app call Battery Dr. It says that my phone has idle time of 311 Hrs at 89% battery. That's amost 13 days.... lol
Ive learned to use battery saver app which I think you can find many threads in here. It prolong my usage to more than 12 hrs which i'm very glad.
I'm using NDT MIUI.

The experience of each ROM varies with each user. There is no ROM which has a definitive best battery life. All ROMs now tend to have pretty good battery lives. In airplane mode, the battery drain is about 1%/2hrs (no use) and with phone on its slightly under 1%/hour. Most things turned on now don't affect battery drain too much (eg. with wifi and bluetooth my battery drain is 5-7mA, it's normally 4).
Agree. I've tried out many roms, and they all have very similar battery life. MOst will last about a day with moderate use.
Sense roms have very slightly higher battery drain, but sill last about a day. (And they are much prettier...!)
The old Hyperdroid ROM have great battery life
I can easily get over 30 hours moderate use with tytung's nexus hd2 ROM (clk)

im using gummynex rom, with the sgs-ns-ics kernel, and the battery drain suddenly became HORRIBLE.
i've used this combo before as well (kernel is on conservative/cfq), but never experienced this kind of drain. cant remember if it happened after updating or what.
1-2 hours of screen time, phone is DEAD. android os 50%+ battery usage.
left my phone unplugged overnight, and this morning when i woke up it was sitting at 40%, and it was 100% when i started sleeping. (6hr 30mins).
i used to get atleast 15hr, should i be changing the rom or the kernel? or downgrading the rom?
wifi = always on
3g/gps/autosync = off
good signal
Mix it up, try a different kernel... if that doesn't help, try a different rom.

You're kidding right? The exact same thing happened to me today! Gummy with matrix.
Down to 8 percent in 2 hours 30 mins.
I restarted, plugged it in and everything was fine.

Could be a hardware issue too.
happened to me as well. Updated to 7.7, less problems after tinkering

Try draining your battery to 0% (until it shuts off by itself). Then, charge it (non-stop) to 100%.
I had similar problem flashed new ROM codename + matr1x kernel
And battery only last 10hrs.
I drained the battery then fully charge and used battery calibration app then drained again and full charge difference was amazing got 22hrs . I left my phone all night with wifi on when wake up 98% .
It might work for you too.

With ICS, you don't have to delete your NS' battery stats, as it resets automatically once it reaches full charge.
I am using the stock 4.0.3 rom with air kernel 3.1....the phone is working normally with 50+ hours of battery time since its unplugged and it still is sitting at 22 percent....
I will be going away soon to a location where i won't have access to any Mains , any advice on what rom offers the best in terms of battery life?

the post from above link does not mention miui series.
in my opinion, wiui 2.5.27(the stable one) does a good job also.
Im on ics from quark and when not doing mutch with my phone it takes like 10 percent a day with stock cpu clock, wifi off.

Questions go in the Q&A section
You should consider using either Walter's MS2Ginger rom or use Defy+ CM7 with walter's kernel. I see that if left alone the phone drains at approx 3% every 8 hours... so standby time increases. I get 2-3 days with moderate use. Of course if you're a heavy user (wifi, 3G, games etc) then it won't matter much.

Not bad! I cant get out of my defy more than 5 - 6 hours, and i am using it for 1 hour max (browsing). And phone is heating up when badly when im using it or charging. I'll try rom, that you suggested, cuz now im on cm9 epsylons 14.07 buld...
Hi,
I have motorola defy red lens and lately I have a problem with battery drain on all roms.
I am using Quarx's JB 4.1.2, and battery drain appears only when my data is on (100 to 0 in around 8 hours if I dont use the phone at all), if my data is off, it can last for days...
I am using BM tweaks, seeder and memfree. I think thats when it began. I also tried Flashing SBF and have the same thing on stock, but on MS2Ginger my battery lasts throughout the day (100 to 50 in 16h with data always on) if I don't use my phone but if I just send one sms or check email for 5 minutes, it spends around 5% of the battery.
I am now back to Quarx's CM10 (from Nov. 28th, Later ones apeared to have batt drain for me even before this problem) same thing without and with BM stuff, I even reduced overclock from 1200 to 1000, and all of my vsel values now i am using 300-16, 600-30, 800-42, 1000-52, and before it was 300-30, 600-42, 900-50, 1200-64 (or something like that....)
Original battery monitor says it is the display spending 50% of the battery, and my brightness is on auto, I even reduced default values for brightness cause I don't like my screen bright.
is my battery bad or what? (all battery apps say the battery is healthy)
P.S. I use quarx's kernel.
What is android system and android os. They aren't drains battery.

Have you checked that android os/system drains so much juice?

cm10 nightly (fixed kernel)
I have the same issue, I'm starting to think that my battery might be dying, it's been a year since I bought my phone, so I think its a logical thing to think that it's slowly fading away
I got a new battery, and it's all good now
Btw I got one for the defy plus, and it rocks, whole day, lots of usage, overclock to 1200 again, and still 60% left!!!
