im using gummynex rom, with the sgs-ns-ics kernel, and the battery drain suddenly became HORRIBLE.
i've used this combo before as well (kernel is on conservative/cfq), but never experienced this kind of drain. cant remember if it happened after updating or what.
1-2 hours of screen time, phone is DEAD. android os 50%+ battery usage.
left my phone unplugged overnight, and this morning when i woke up it was sitting at 40%, and it was 100% when i started sleeping. (6hr 30mins).
i used to get atleast 15hr, should i be changing the rom or the kernel? or downgrading the rom?
wifi = always on
3g/gps/autosync = off
good signal
Mix it up, try a different kernel... if that doesn't help, try a different rom.

You're kidding right? The exact same thing happened to me today! Gummy with matrix.
Down to 8 percent in 2 hours 30 mins.
I restarted, plugged it in and everything was fine.

Could be a hardware issue too.
happened to me as well. Updated to 7.7, less problems after tinkering

Try draining your battery to 0% (until it shuts off by itself). Then, charge it (non-stop) to 100%.
I had similar problem flashed new ROM codename + matr1x kernel
And battery only last 10hrs.
I drained the battery then fully charge and used battery calibration app then drained again and full charge difference was amazing got 22hrs . I left my phone all night with wifi on when wake up 98% .
It might work for you too.

With ICS, you don't have to delete your NS' battery stats, as it resets automatically once it reaches full charge.
I am using the stock 4.0.3 rom with air kernel 3.1....the phone is working normally with 50+ hours of battery time since its unplugged and it still is sitting at 22 percent....

So im at a convention thisweekend and its been a while since I flash my rom to 3.2 freshbaked. This weekend I notice straight from 100% I was burning through most of it in 6-7 hour with out alot of usage. I took my phone out at 11:30 today and its only 4 and im already down to 36%. My battery usage shows 36% from system 22 from cell standby with 0 signal lost and 21 idle. Ill flash an updated rom when u get back.

flashed new 3.3.0 fresh and after a full charge i've left it idle for 2 hours and i've already drained 20% of the battery. That roughly 10 hours of doing nothing and my phones dead.
It could be some app you are using/installed.
I recently flashed Fresh and expierenced the same situation . My Android system was always the highest on the list . I removed apps and stripped it down , I wiped Dalvik and Cache you name it and the phone could sit idle and the Android system would be as much as cellstand by if not higher . I eventually just went back to stock Froyo with root . Android system now sits lower than cell stand by and phone idle
I'm using the newest fresh Rom with kings 9 kernel and set CPU. I never been a heavy user but I'm sitting at 19hrs and 43% I took it off the charger around 3pm Saturday and have not charged it since.

fresh 3.3, and netarchy's 4.1.9.1 fresh comp kernel, run your battery down to 3%, once there, boot into recovery, wipe your battery stats, and then reboot, once you reboot you may only get as far as the lockscreen before it shuts off, then either swap in a spare fully charged battery, or fully charge your battery with the phone turned off.
This is insane I'm currently Losing 1. 5. % a minute. Took it off 8 minutes ago and its down to 86 with 70% system usage

What is your signal like in the building? I had a similar issue when I couldn't get a good signal. The phone would last four hours just sitting on my hip.

Im not sure what classes as good battery life on the N7. But after looking at other peoples reports im convinced mine isn't that good.
Im using CM10 and Trinity Kernel, both latest versions.
As of now these are my stats.
Screen on 3 hours
20 Hours on battery, with 16% left.
Anyone any advice or tips?

IMO not good at all. How long since you flashed the rom/kernel?
I usually give it a few charging cycles before judging a rom/kernel to be good or bad
Obviously everything depends on your bightness levels, clock speed and undervolting.
What clock speed are you running at? I am on AOKP and using faux's kernel at 1.2GHz and battery is double yours. My brightness is quite low though
Also depends on what you're doing on it
Auto brightness.
TKT App, limiting it to 1150Mhz. UV by 25mv.
Basic browsing, facebook, twitter etc. Odd game for 5-10 mins.
Flashed the ROM & Kernel Yesterday, but its being acting like this for a while on previous ROMs tbh.
Consider using BetterBatteryStats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15869868 to find what could be the cause.
Sent from my Nexus 7
yeah going to look into that.
For now, ive changed my kernel to Faux, and undervolted by 75mv. Also changed the limit to 1.1Ghz, using System tuner.
Going to charge to 100%, calibrate, and then install betterbatterystats to see what causes it. Noticed my unit seems a little warm, well, System tuner reporting it at about 45C, but then that could be because ive been using it for a good 10-15 mins installing and setting things up. (Also using a Gel case, guessing that wot help heat escaping!)
Well that's not too bad mines at 12 hrs and 37% but Im constantly on mine all day

Okay.... have an issue!
Have been using the Nexus 7 happily today, got it down to 6% and it switched off by itself. I don't mean powered down, it simply died.
1. Plugged in the mains lead and tried to boot up but it wouldn't.
2. Tried again 5mins later and this time it showed the white battery charging icon so I left it.
3. Came back 2 hours later and with it still charging I powered it back up, only after it had loaded the battery percentage has only increased to 8%
So, anyone care to help me out here...... has anyone else experienced this?
Just had another peek (it's now been another 30mins which means 2hrs 30mins on charge) and it's only increased by 1%.
So from 6% when it died to 2hrs 30mins later on charge it's only risen 3%
It's a stock 16GB device.
I've updated to 4.2 as soon as it came out, few apps didn't work but I soon noticed that it wasn't the issue.
The battery life on 4.2 seems to have drastically decreased for me. I was able to watch over 10 hours of video on maximum brightness with Wi-Fi and maximum volume, after update on MINIMUM brightness and half the volume I was able to pull off about 6 hours.
Did your battery life improve or gotten worse on 4.2?
Stand by time for me seems to have improved. No data to back that up, but I usually know where my battery is at anytime of day and it has been higher than usual since the update.

For me it seems to drain very fast, ever since the update AND I've got less apps since I did clean install. I kept same settings for Wi-Fi etc. Even Stand by seems to consume a lot more battery, I mean it drained 40% during the night. I wasn't downloading or anything.
Definitely worse. It even takes longer to charge.
The battery life after 4.2 update is awful.

I updated to 4.2, and it drained my battery from 100% to 78% in 12 hours, with idle!!!
<<stock ROM, no-rooted, stock kernel, no installed apps>>
No difference for me. If anything it is better. Left my tablet idling after charge last night and it was still 100 percent when I woke up. On 4.1.2 it would generally go from 100 to 98 left overnight. Screen on time seems about the same.

You got big problem then. Wipe it might help
Definitely worse. Using it for ten minutes after a charge drains it by nearly ten percent, and this was after a full charge cycle. On conservative use it lasts me 6, maybe 7 hours, whereas on 4.1.2 with much more running at once I would ten hours easily. Its not that much, yeah, but I'm still going to downgrade. It's a good thing Google actually lets you downgrade unlike Apple.
for me battery life is much better. i get 17 hours with screen on 56% .
Mine has decrease a lot... now the back of my nexus 7 gets hot and drains the battery really fast.... anyone has a link to a better ROM or one that gives u a better battery life

man i follow my guide to update to 4.2 and i dont get any battery issues , if you wanna try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990258
My battery is much improved. Before I was getting about 5 hours of screen on time with heavy use. After the update, I'm getting 7 hours of screen on time with heavy use.
Seems slightly better on stand by..that's for sure. Too soon to tell otherwise.

Hello,
After the update I noticed the tablet rebooting occasionally, so I flashed from scratch scrosler's 4.2 rom. The dev said is the official one, he just added root. I lost 25% in 7 hours of moderate use with auto brightness . Over the night battery remained at 100%.

After few battery cycles, I still have to keep my opinion of worse battery life sadly.
Just looking right now under battery settings, there seem to be many more "Google" things "Android OS (as it was before) Google Services, Android System, Tablet Idle, and Maps and Media server also seem to be taking up more battery.
Lol that's funny: see what happened today to my battery indicator:
It was 18%, i shut down the phone for a minute, when i turned on again my Xperia it was at 43% LOL.
Then the discharge was quicker and i had my phone at 5% three hours later.
Strange problem!
I'm on 4.2.2 Generic Es flashed with flashtools.
Same thing happened to me yesterday, im on PAC however.
Gesendet von meinem C6603 mit Tapatalk 4 Beta
well seems 4.2.2 don't have better (or even the same level) performance on battery. Needs to be improved by Sony in next edition
Happens to me too, just turned off now it was 20% I forgot earlier on I turned it off and the battery spiked up.
Well at least it'll get a full charge now..
I got the same problem after 4.2.2 update
Odoslané z C6603 cez Tapatalk 2
ive also experienced this once since I updated to 4.2.2 ES version
but its not returned since
yesterday
so thinking it was just a software glitch
I noticed the battery performance getting worse than 4.1.2, I charge the battery until reaching 100% and when I remove the plug; the % goes to 98 and discharges faster, never happened with the later firmware.
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
It happened after 4.2.2 update battery was 70% then it hit 80% after restart
happened to me a few times... guess that is just bad calibration, think it will be better after a few days of full charge and complete usage.
It's turned off at 15% and kept going for an hour at 1% so far, after a couple of full charges, I haven't checked how they are measuring battery in the kernel source , presume a voltage drop. but the algorithm isn't right.

Just a piece of info for you. Deleting the batterystats.bin file does nothing apart from wipe the info that is used to display battery usage stats when you look at your battery graph. The file is deleted and recreated when the battery is fully charged anyway.
See Android framework engineer Dianne Hackborn's post on the matter - https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream/z13dgb0rksywh3muq222fzkqnwfgdbgrk04
Also, while it's nice to see high standby estimations in the power management app, it is very rarely accurate. If you search around, there are posts complaining that it doesn't work properly
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2
Good to know that this just didn't happen to me. Two days ago I was on about 30% then my phone just turned off. It wouldn't reboot for me though until I had plugged it back in. I don't think I have been getting worse battery life since going to 4.2.2 as it has seemed normal for the last week, it was just that once and I'm guessing it was just reporting it wrong for some reason.
Yup.. Thanks..I saw the post on g+ once but I had no other option.. When I asked some ppl, everybody told me to delete the batterystats.bin file.. so I was helpless..I knew that wasn't the right solution but I had to delete it..do u know any other way we can calibrate our battery for more accuracy?

same problem happened to me....but what I did was I had fully drained the battery and left the mobile to cool off for half an hour then charged the battery upto 100% then switched on the mobile and did a battery calibration by using 'Battery Calibration' app I don't know whether this method is correct or not but this method has regained the battery life now my battery is draining correctly it seems ok now......

That's exactly what I did but instead of using the battery calibration app I directly deleted the batterystats.bin file, that's what the app does too..and after two to three times charging to 100% and discharging to 0,it worked fine for 2 days and now when my battery was at 28%,I restarted my phone it showed the battery as 56% and the phone switched off at 27%..this is happening even after I did all that battery calibration stuff..I'm really getting mad cuz this bug..I'm hoping an update would roll out soon

I've had my nexus 4 for about 6 months and started having battery problems about 2 months back. My phone would just get worse and worse as time went on. It would randomly die when the battery was at 40% and would only get 2 hours of sot. Later it got worse and died at 70% getting only about 1 hour of sot. Now it got to the point where its unusable without a charger, if I unplug it the phone will last for 30 minutes max and then shut down. When I try to reboot it after it dies like this it boots up and instantly dies after about 5 seconds. Sometimes the phone reboots while it is plugged into the charger, while unplugged the phone instantly dies if I take a photo especially with flash. I tried resetting the battery by unplugging it and plugging it back. I noticed that the battery has expanded in size, even making my back cover not flat anymore. My question is if I replace the battery will this solve my problems? Here is a few screenshots of my battery stats:

Replace the battery ASAP or RMA the device for a new one. Those are all telltale signs of a bad battery, especially the swelling. Strange that it happened so early though.

Hello mates,
About the Battery.
2 days ago I flashed the 4.3 factory image, I slept yesterday night and the phone was on 43% of battery at 1:00 am. When I woke up 9:15 am today's morning, I found that the battery in JUST 4% !!!!
could you guess the problem here ?
I never used Hangouts, nor Google now.
By the way , I'm using STOCK ROM with FRANCO KERNEL.
If I'm not mistaken, before the phone powered off, the screen on time was 47% ( 2 hours ), Phone Idle 6%, and Cell standby was in 9%.

Strange but, your problem is probably only due to the software, maybe you didn't wipe cache or dalvik or just had a bad install, although if its persistent like mine replace the battery
