Hi, is using daydream a good idea?
I would let it run about 7 hours each night, do you think this would affect the screen lifetime by a noticeable amount?

Well if you aren't using the phone, I can't imagine why you'd want the screen on for 7 hours. Eventually your screen will fail, might take years and years, but leaving it on an excessive amount will certainly shorten it's lifespan.
If you just want a clock for when you wake up, I'd recommend just turning off Daydream since it only takes a second to turn the screen on. Daydream certainly isn't enough of a time saver to compromise your display's life.
I was always using my Palm Pres as night/alarm clock on the touchstone charger without issues. Did the same with my GNex and its docking station and plan to do the same with my N4 and wireless charger.

If it takes years it doesn't matter, I will switch to the next nexus when it's out anyways, so I won't use this phone much longer than a year. It's not about the clock, it just looks really nice (using beautiful widget) and when waking up, or just in the evening it would be a nice feature.

Yeah nice huh? And it's not empty yet, I think I will get more then 5.5 hours screen time when it hits 1%.
I did all the normal stuff. Mainly browsing and like customize the phone and stuff.
No gaming though. And about 6 hours airplane mode

why is cell standby so high.......looks like web browsing and some music was your usage while connected to wi-fi.
Seems alright to me, about in line with what I got with my Galaxy Nexus and i9100

Isn't cell standby allways high on android? It was on the S2.

I think it matters a lot what your brightness setting was.
Please let us know.
And if it was 'auto' tell us your estimation what the actual average brightness in use could be.

I will dump my HTC One X immediately. It is amazing to get more than 5 hours on the s3. On my one x I usually get between 3-4 hours screen on time and 15 hours unplugged with no gaming at all.

Cell standby is indeed very high, all Androids I owned the normal value was between 6-8%, almost all captures I have seen so far of Galaxy S3: 20-40%.
for example mine now is at 30%, which is insane.

Your sig is dumb.
HTC One X has more accurate colour reproduction
HTC One X has a better design
HTC One X doesn't have a slippery hyperglaze coating.
See, I can be subjective too.

It was set on auto, and I did not use it outside because I haven't got a case yet ;-)

So where did i mentioned sgs3 has better design? (its people's choice afterall)
Gloss finish is much better than a matt finish (it will be covered anyway)
you cannot argue with the other points in that sig though
actually your post is dumb, pls do not start the same thing again here, goto hox vs gs3 thread for more info

I was honestly just trolling, but mostly because your sig is kind of trolling too. There are a lot of things I like about the S3 better. But there are also a lot of things I dislike about it. Can't wait to actually compare them both. Sorry guys, back on track!
Great results after the first couple of charge cycles. Should also improve after the battery settles in which would make it just ridiculous. I wonder how much better, if any, the S4 variant will get. I may end up picking this up on AT&T when it releases.

Hello I just bough a s4 because my old iphone 4s battery was draining really really fast and now i have this phone for 5 days and the battery goes kinda very fast away... I just rooted it to delete all the nonsense apps and it spaced up like 300mb of ram on it and I counted: 1% goes in 4 minutes of just touching my phone in 0 brightness. Is this normal for this phone? I already formated it few times. Please help.
Not its not normal.Install GSam Battery Monitor and check Kernel WakeLocks. And post result.Good Luck.
S4 batteries have a problem. Go to samsung service center and exchange it.
Sent from my GT-I9506 using Tapatalk
well if it's the battery itself i think it's better if i just buy it 20€ is a new one because if i send my phone to the service it's going to cost 10€ to send it to them and back and i probably won't have it back in 2 weeks...
So this when i open the app, shoudn't the mA be higger than that?
edit: after unplugging it it has only 460 mA -.-'
Click first icon down on left. And click on View Kernel WakeLock post the first result.:good:.
I have too WakeLock fix it by delete Cache in Settings/More/Storage!After that Settings/More/Application Manager press Menu Button and click Reset app preferences.Good Luck!
If new battey is at a reasonable price go for it. But take care that new batteries are cured from old batteries problems so beware when you purchase. Also there are anker batteries which are good too.

check your battery if it is swollen (thick)
Yes as he said, check if battery is swollen.

Well if your battery is draining 1% every 4 minutes with screen on, then you should get around 6 hours display on time which I would consider is pretty normal...

Had no idea an iPhone battery would fit an SGS4. Not much use anyway as it has a much and much smaller capacity. But thx anyway :good:
For the first time in years with being with a Xperia Z phone, I have run out of battery before the day was over.
I'm getting between 2.5 to 3.5 SOT, and yesterday it just wasn't enough. With the Z3 (no plus) I got 4 to 5, sometimes even 6 (though I never quite knew why it would differ so much with similar use).
Sony needs to sort this out, and fast, or the Z5 will not be for me (I've been with the Z series since day 1). Oh, and yes, I'd still be on the Z3 had I not dropped it once too many.
This is a Google issue. See battery thread.

I faced this issue before. When I look deep into the process and so on, I found that the "wechat" and "facebook" is consuming a big piece of the resources. So, I deleted it and the battery life seems like last a bit longer than usual.

Facebook definitely is having problems here too, sometimes it bursts up in battery usage and has around 20% when the day is finished which is unacceptable
I suggest you to use Snapdragon battery guru to control how much background apps connect to the internet.. So you can control facebook and others...

Stupid purchase you can make.
It is a good phone but it is not worth it because:
- 2K Screen
Yes, technically, it is an awesome spec. But 2K screen means more battery consumption, which means poor battery life.
- Small battery compared to screen
If you simply use the phone for call and message, it should be ok. But if you use your phone for social media, etc. You need to charge the phone two to three times a day.
- Software
Not that good software. Android 7 is not yet there.
But yes, for the price it sounds good but battery is a problem.
Final conclusion:
Put a few more $ and buy a better phone.
Le Pro 3 is better. It has a better battery life too.
in theory, you could prolong battery life by decreasing the screen resolution.
if you want to try, open a terminal and type:
su
wm size 1080x1920
after that, you have to adjust dpi too.
you can either set it in the os or type:
wm density 400
use whatever value fits for you.

Agree to disagree.
I am a medium to power user and battery lasts easily till the end of the day. I had never discharged the battery more then 50% (cause) lipo batteries don't like to be discharged much under 40%... Screen is fine and in my case fingerprint sensor is working fast and pretty.
Dunno if the quality of production varies that much or if some people just crap their battery within weeks?
A friend killed his samsung S7 edge battery after 3months with one full discharge.
I would buy it again

So I have it 8 Days... and my battery Time is teribble look at SS sorry for my bad english... on 100% battery Samsung Tell me he can work for 10 hours rly? My old S7 had better results... I dont know what I should do
It happend to me as well when I bought it. Give it some time and it will optimize things.
Also, what's your usage like? LTE all the way, no wifi?
As a note, when I got mine it kept at ~3hours of SOT for awhile, now I get 5 minimum with my usage (I'm what you call a power user).

So how Long it take... because it's terrible I must take charger with me...
I didn't really pay attention. It took ~ a week after I finished with all the setup and updates and everything. I.e. once I was back to my normal self/usage.
Like everything in life it needs some time to settle.
I had this with every smartphone I had.
Cheers!
Like I said I have this 8 Days... and it's The same 3,45 h SOT and 9H on battery when I use it
I think it all varies, and there are a lot of factors to take into consideration.
For me it took that long to settle because I have a lot of apps that I need (around 30) mostly work related, that require some time to build caches and everything.
Anyway, here's my usage for ~5hours of SOT:
-WiFi most of the day
-brightness at 40%
-data on regardless of WiFi (in case I have to run outside or something)
-around 20apps with push notifications on
-bluetooth always on and connected to my gear s2
-location always on
-calls ~2hours a day
-texting a lot (WhatsApp and regular text)
I charge it in the mornings and it gets me all the way to next morning with ~ 15/20% left.
That said, battery consumption cannot be determined solely by screen on time, there are a lot of other things that might drain your battery, for example LTE(mobile data) always on.
I'm on mobile data at most a couple of hours a day(WiFi at work and at home) so that helps a lot with battery life.
I also don't keep more than 10 apps running, and I tend to close an app if I'm done with it for the day.
But it all depends on usage.
If I play games(which I rarely do) the screen on time would decrease considerably, as games use the gpu and processor a lot.
Also, I keep my screen's brightness at around 30/40% (mostly because I hate it when my eyes hurt from too much brightness ).
Get use to it - battery in S8 is crap. You can try to root it, debloat it, greenify it, forcedoze it. I did all of that, but, nevertheless my s8 has to be charged on everyday basis.

In every phone the battery is not good ( except sony in my experience).
I had some 4000 maH battery phones and frankly after 6 months i got to charge them every day. Especially after updates. That is unfortunate because we spent lot of money for them. Nevertheless i am happy for now with the performance and didn't debloat anything. If it gets worse i would change the battery and go on.

Yeah, sony have somewhat better battery life from my pov as well. Maybe it's because Samsung have better display and stronger guts inside, or it's "stamina mode" magic. It's a shame that Sony phones are so ugly nowadays.
