Hello I just bough a s4 because my old iphone 4s battery was draining really really fast and now i have this phone for 5 days and the battery goes kinda very fast away... I just rooted it to delete all the nonsense apps and it spaced up like 300mb of ram on it and I counted: 1% goes in 4 minutes of just touching my phone in 0 brightness. Is this normal for this phone? I already formated it few times. Please help.
Not its not normal.Install GSam Battery Monitor and check Kernel WakeLocks. And post result.Good Luck.
S4 batteries have a problem. Go to samsung service center and exchange it.

well if it's the battery itself i think it's better if i just buy it 20€ is a new one because if i send my phone to the service it's going to cost 10€ to send it to them and back and i probably won't have it back in 2 weeks...
So this when i open the app, shoudn't the mA be higger than that?
edit: after unplugging it it has only 460 mA -.-'
Click first icon down on left. And click on View Kernel WakeLock post the first result.:good:.
I have too WakeLock fix it by delete Cache in Settings/More/Storage!After that Settings/More/Application Manager press Menu Button and click Reset app preferences.Good Luck!
If new battey is at a reasonable price go for it. But take care that new batteries are cured from old batteries problems so beware when you purchase. Also there are anker batteries which are good too.

I'm only going on the phone to write an sms and 5 times on snapshot+wifi and then turn it off and the % flies away -.-'
So it's the battery?
check your battery if it is swollen (thick)
Yes as he said, check if battery is swollen.

The battery looks normal to me. The battery sleept well but after some use its already decreasing, only to post this it took 1%...

Well if your battery is draining 1% every 4 minutes with screen on, then you should get around 6 hours display on time which I would consider is pretty normal...

Youd find changing the iphone battery is easy.Take out the 2 screws and slide off back cover. Then take off 2 screws that hold battery connector, then prize out old battery.
They are only £5 off ebay.

Had no idea an iPhone battery would fit an SGS4. Not much use anyway as it has a much and much smaller capacity. But thx anyway :good:

You'll get a lot of replies from people saying they are delighted that with their battery life and claim that something is wrong with you.
From my experience with the Galaxy Nexus, I know that battery life with Android varies all over the place depending on how you use the phone and what apps you install. Install the wrong apps or get file corruption--that you can't pin down--the battery will drain just sitting there unused.
if you intend to keep the phone, I suggest getting a 12000mAH external power pack. Thanks Google for not allowing us to readily swap the battery.
Galaxy nexus 2 hour screen on time. Carried a spare battery. Nexus 4 close to 4 hours screen. I guess what I am saying is I can cope because I came from actual bad battery life.

My iphone 4s only lasts 8 hours with heavy use. Streaming movies, Sirius sat, games, web surfing.
This phone outlasts that so far with the same stuff.
But its terrible you should sell it.....
The battery has been so so for me. I'm hoping when a good kernel and Ron come it will be a lot better. I benefit from working in range of a outlet .

GS3 battery dominates the N4 battery even tho it has the same 2100mah size.
I guess the AMOLED >>> IPS LCD in terms of battery drainage.
Sucks! I guess the Nexus 4 battery life will be only slightly better than my One X =(
I personally love the threads where former galaxy note owners and droid razer maxx owners ***** about battery life.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
I swear guys I normally use same apps and on Note2 I was able to get day and day and half with heavy use and teo days with light use..but this N4 just drains battery like theres no tomorrow. Esp browsing internet..youtube..and other stuff that pulls a lot of data... The only way I can save battery is it i put brightness to almost zero and turn off wifi and data completely. I have all the normal stuff syncing and not often...facebook pulls data every 2 hours and other apps as well. I really love this device but WHY WHY WHY Google/LG decided to have non removable battery. I RESPECT Samsung so much more because they give you removable and decent battery and also give you SD card option which I can live without but its nice to have. I guess you get what you pay for.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
GS3 most certainly does not dominate....
Amoled is only more efficient for blacks. Every other color it displays uses more power on AMOLED vs LCD. In fact, white uses 70% more power in AMOLED displays than LCD.
Watching 1hr video on Netflix over hspa+ at full brightness today dropped my battery from 80% to 29%. My galaxy nexus with the same use would have dropped maybe half of that.
Does that sound normal?
I'll be able to check if I have a defective unit pretty soon. I have a RMA for my earpiece speaker not working, but I'm literally stuck on a charger at all times, lol. I honestly don't really care about the crappy battery life, I still love this phone!
On the plus side, it seems to charge as fast as it loses charge, lol

Getting 3.5 hours screen on time here . with sync on , GPS on , screen 75% brightness. No issues here ,battery's great !!! " tweaking battery is waste of time . try letting it die charge it while off then another hour while on then pull charger , ( if anyone replies with letting die is bad your wrong , and u can send me all the links u want your still wrong
User error. You left a phone that has a massive 3100 mah battery for one with 2100.
My battery seems to be fine, previously I had a GSM GNex with the extended battery and my N4 has done just as well based off my usage.
I remove it from the charger around 7 a.m., use it all day for text, calls, browsing, emails. When I get home at 6 I am around 35-40% so I charge it for about 45 minutes to get me through the evening and then charge all night.
This routine has gotten me through virtually every phone I have had with a few exceptions (Treo 750 and SX-66 come to mind)
4.5 hours of screen on time is my average so far. Roughly 50% better then my Galaxy Nexus. Other than GPS remaining off, I haven't done anything special to conserve battery life. Not sure if I'm the exception, and I do wish I could swap the battery, but I can't complain too much.

Currently using Stepp_aospX 1.0.0-MR2.
When I'm watching a 30 minute YouTube video, the battery goes down by about 45%. When I turn off the phone and turn it back on, the battery jumps back up about 20-30%. Now I'm wondering if this is a problem with by battery or with the ROM.
Can anyone else get this issue to occur on their phone?

Yeah, it sounds like you need a new battery. Anker makes great ones, they aren't too expensive, just buy them off of amazon. Before you do that, take out the battery and check for lumps or stuff like that.
Again, there is a 90% change that you just need a new battery
That's what I was afraid of. No lumps on the battery (thankfully). Probably not going to buy a new battery though. Waiting for a good deal on a Galaxy SIII or Nexus 4.
Thanks guys.

Someone once said to charge the battery to 100% then clear battery stats then drain it down to almost 0% then clear stats again. then charge it back to 100% in one sitting. that helps me sometimes when flashing an old backup and the percentage jumps around after a reboot.

Thats a placebo. It really doesn't do very much. If you get random battery level jumps, its a sign that you need a new battery

Ive found that a lot of times you can't see it starting to bow, but if you spin it you can tell. If it just spins 90-180* then it's probably ok, but of it spins more than that it's bad. I grab the battery charger + 3 batteres from eBay for under $10. Now I just swap batteries rather than charge the phone.
Just a few days ago my battery on my phone drained to 0 then charged it while turned off. But something suddenly came up and I need to go immediately and plugged the charger out before it was full. After that, my battery can barely last 1 day but normally my phone lasts up to 3 days without wifi and I already have Juice Defender and I actually upgraded it into Ultimate. Another thing that I noticed is that the temperature is becoming hotter than it used to be. Possibly because it's hot here. And no, it doesn't have any bumps.
So, what can I do about this? Do I have to buy a new battery or does anyone have an alternative?

Did your battery heat up like mine as well? Charging temperature is 42-43C. While Normal use is 35-39C and when playing some games it reaches to 40-42C.
Can this even be fixed by Battery Calibration? Just rooted my phone today.
And I am also eying the possibility that my charger is the culprit since it's becoming hot too especially the AC and the tip that you use to connect to your phone. Now I'm waiting for my aunt to borrow her charger and find out if it really is the one at fault.
And another thing that confuses me is my battery's health is still good. And the main drainer is "Cell Standby" and "Phone Idle".

Hello,
I recently bought a Galaxy S4, but I sadly broke my screen a month latter.
I brought it to a Samsung authorized service center to get it repair, which they did in less than 30 minutes.
However since then i'm experiencing an insane battery drain ! My phone turns off after 10 hours without any intensive use. (I had more than 24h autonomy before).
I've been to a few forums, downloaded Better Battery Stats, reset my phone, tried to take off battery from my phone, nothing seems to solve my problem....
Here are some screenshot of BBS:
If any of you have an idea why I'm having my battery drained please tell me !
Many thanks

I don't think replacing the screen is the cause of battery drain. Just don't use the phone for 8-9 hours and see how much it drained.
Actually, I've not used the phone while I was sleeping, and I got drained 6% per hour, wifi turned off (which is huge!)
I've also tried with airplane mode, same issue. I lost 5-6% per hour without doing anything.

try to calibrate your battery by discharging it completely to 0 and charging it completely to 100 without any break...do it at least 2 times and check the results
im from vancouver, and there are a lot of ghetto shops that rip you off with fake screens. like i have friends who have replaced screens with cheaper places and the screen isnt genuine and overheats all the time
Was the replacement screen a genuine one? If not or if there is suspicion it may not be, then that is very likely to be your problem. I once had an iPhone 3GS screen broke, replaced it with what was sold as a genuine screen, the writing on the sticker on the 'new screen' said ''IPhone'' not ''iPhone'' on it, this seemed to indicate to me the screen wasn't genuine, this was confirmed when the battery life was reduced dramatically following screen replacement. The old saying goes 'buy cheap, buy twice'.

Yeah neither do i see a problem here, screen time depends on your usage.. if you watch movies offline it gave me around 8 to 10 hours of view time from 100% to 5%.

???
did you post the wrong picture ?
I don't see any problems.
3h50m time on, and still left 61% ?
it is quite good enough already. Means with the same usage, you will get around (roughly) 8h+ (Time ON) down to 1% battery left.
I don't want to be an smart ass, but the 61% doesn't mean the battery % he has left. It shows how much battery has the screen used in % in one charge.
If the 3h 50 min screen on time is from one charge, then this is not very good.
I assume you have your brightness set to maximum, because i have mine set to automatic (0 or -5) and in my usage tab it shows only 30 to 35%.
Are you playing a lot of games ? Could be a faulty battery. Do you have all the phone features turned on ?
There are threads on the web how to maximize battery life or how to find the reasons for battery drain.
Google is your friend.

That's normal bro
Completely normal, Display will always take up the majority of the battery life (unless you are running graphic intensive games or a program that is terribly programmed).
There are plenty of 3rd party products out there to boost your battery life. Hyperion, YESSO, Anker (Aker?) have batteries that are double the capacity of the factory ones. There is also ZEROLEMON battery that is 3 times the capacity (If you don't mind bulk this is the best for battery life).
You can buy the factory capacity battery (3200 mAh) for relatively cheap as a back up as well.
I have several and my favorite is the ZEROLEMON but I don't mind the bulk and in fact its more comfortable to hold.

It’s pretty difficult to say what the problem really is when the issue happened only once, doesn’t it? Sorry, I can’t say what the matter with your new phone. As what I understand, the phone didn’t charge immediately the second time you charged it. But then removing the battery solved the problem, so there’s nothing to troubleshoot because we don’t know if the problem would happen again.
