Really Awful Battery Life - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Just a few days ago my battery on my phone drained to 0 then charged it while turned off. But something suddenly came up and I need to go immediately and plugged the charger out before it was full. After that, my battery can barely last 1 day but normally my phone lasts up to 3 days without wifi and I already have Juice Defender and I actually upgraded it into Ultimate. Another thing that I noticed is that the temperature is becoming hotter than it used to be. Possibly because it's hot here. And no, it doesn't have any bumps.
So, what can I do about this? Do I have to buy a new battery or does anyone have an alternative?

My battery lasts 7 hours... Beat that!

better to try some custom ROMs which has a better battery life..after flashing custom ROM drain the battery and make a complte charge w/o interruption and then calibrate it..just download battery calibrator from playstore

Did your battery heat up like mine as well? Charging temperature is 42-43C. While Normal use is 35-39C and when playing some games it reaches to 40-42C.
Can this even be fixed by Battery Calibration? Just rooted my phone today.
And I am also eying the possibility that my charger is the culprit since it's becoming hot too especially the AC and the tip that you use to connect to your phone. Now I'm waiting for my aunt to borrow her charger and find out if it really is the one at fault.
And another thing that confuses me is my battery's health is still good. And the main drainer is "Cell Standby" and "Phone Idle".

did I break the record for stress testing it?
Anyways, anyone got any tips on battery life? I was thinking of getting 3000mah or 3500mah, but the design of it (bulky) just doesn't seem the right option in my mind.
Also anyone here actually have the 3000mah or 3500mah so they can chime in on the design + battery life compared to the original?
just powered the phone back up. and it says battery is at 50%. wtf.
It turned off on its own cause of low battery, and now it says 50%?

Battery may not be calibrated correctly. I have to say my only major disappointment with the EVO is how the battery life is so tied to the particular rom I'm using. I mean I expect different drain rates on different roms, but having to recalibrate the battery every time I switch roms is just plain dumb.

It used to work for me, but now it is doing the same thing. Im at 1.76 now but for the past week it was stuck on 1.00, then slowly went up with each flash.
just a quick update. The reason the battery showed empty one minute and then it showed 50% the next was because of the heat. The phone was very hot when I was playing with it, and then when it cooled down it seemed to have fixed itself or w/e. Happened again today.
im sure its been answered..but how do we calibrate the battery?
Pretty sure you can erase the battery stats through clockwork recovery. Also there is a way through ADB which is pretty easy too
Sorry I don't have any links atm.

Secondary battery

Has anyone tried buying a non official battery for their MS2 and care to comment or recommend any? Im going on holiday to france and i know my phone wont last a whole day without charging, so I was thinking of buying a second battery.
I read in another forum that using a non-Motorola battery displays some kind of warning. I'd go with an original battery.

using a non-original battery could have detrimental effects on your phone. there was a discussion on this on the forum of another phone. using a non-original battery could lead to leaks and other problems which would eventually lead to the warranty of your phone being voided.
stick with original motorola products. yes the battery might be very underpowered, but its the safest bet to ensure the longevity of ur phone
With a non original battery, the battery indicator of your phone shows a interrogation symbol. Also, it does not charge with the phone charger.
Sorry my analphabet english xD
@Motorola Milestone 2
bp7x 2300mAh battery
I 'm using a non-original battery . The MOMAX and everything's good ,it feels just like the original one except for battery tempperature sensor. the temp is always 26 in celsius
I personally have used seidio for my milestone and it works like a charm, its the extended 2800mah one it really performs like it should and not like how a lot of people claim thats its way less than stock! It does not always read it correctly but a quick reboot fixes that, like 50% after reboot would usually be about 70-80%. They way i used to use my phone (light to moderate level) would last about 2-3 days but after the extended I got twice that and some more. Just make sure you get stuff from the original manufactures either way and don't go for deals at amazon or whatnot as those guys might be selling either defected or not proprely stored stuff. Batteries are critical components don't go cheap on them! And no, my phone has not been messed up or had any leaks or anything and I have this for about 3-4 months now. The original battery degraded in about 6months if you have to compare.
That sounds promising, does the battery need to be charged with an external charger? And does the milestone complain that you are not using the official bettery

reebooting your phone to get the exact picture also works on the standard battery. my question is, does the back part which houses the battery heat up when used? does the phone get hot during charging? do you need a new battery cover for it? and besides the longer usability, have you noticed any other performance issues on the phone?

Actually the rebooting to get the exact picture is not the same here, a jump to 20-30% on a stock battery? I don't think so. No I never encountered any odd behavior with the other battery. No getting extra hot during charge or use, get the typical little bit of heat while using 3G and browsing like mad but that would happen on the stock battery too. Battery cover for a 2800? of course, that stuff is huge! its protrudes like mad! a quick heads up though, the extended battery for the milestone 1 and 2 can use the same extended batteries. Don't know about the droid x though. Anyways, no performance issues, no heat while charging. The back covers supplied by these after market guys are not the best quality though so if you are someone who loves dropping phones and what not would recommed getting a spare back cover from the guys you get the batts from.

No, I use my original charger and no complains or warnings by the phone. Not on the milestone 1 at least. In fact some times i use my ipod's adapter so no big issue. And it charges at the same pace as the stock, additional 1 hour or whatever. restart the phone to getting a proper reading as it shows 100% but upon restart its 70-80% since only the stock level is charged. I hear this app called battery left does great for calibration.
ALSO a thing to note, I only know of Seidio and Mugen to be relialbe after market battery guys hence their hefty pricing at times. The others claiming to have bigger batteries have cheated people with stickers and what not and usually end up underperforming and degrading considerably faster than burning paper! I remember 1USD batteries for nokias back in the day good for a quick one time run i suppose but these 1USD guys are now selling them with a better branding for like 20-40 USD.
Anyways Sedio and Mugen have facebook profiles and keep people posted on the latest on devices usually there, although its kind of sad since seidio have not followed through promised products at times.

Cool but as I suggested try and get them off the manufactures themselves as I have noticed some people complaining when purchased via 3rd party retailers.
Also another bud of mine had picked up one for the Nexus one, that phones back cover is a full one unlike the moto's and he too can vouch for the products positive performance. Either ways also check out some reviews from amazon.com for peace of mind.

https://picasaweb.google.com/105351366297036719015/DropBox?authkey=Gv1sRgCJna6ZH6hLKxzQE
Wifi was on most of the time, I was using my phone for the usual things. Occasionally checking socialfeeds, engadget, xda every hour or so and internet browsing I played 10 minutes of angry bids. Updated some apps and downloaded a few new ones.
Overall not a significant increase in battery life maybe an hour or so more from what I am used to.

[Q] ROM problem or my battery?

Currently using Stepp_aospX 1.0.0-MR2.
When I'm watching a 30 minute YouTube video, the battery goes down by about 45%. When I turn off the phone and turn it back on, the battery jumps back up about 20-30%. Now I'm wondering if this is a problem with by battery or with the ROM.
Can anyone else get this issue to occur on their phone?

Yeah, it sounds like you need a new battery. Anker makes great ones, they aren't too expensive, just buy them off of amazon. Before you do that, take out the battery and check for lumps or stuff like that.
Again, there is a 90% change that you just need a new battery
That's what I was afraid of. No lumps on the battery (thankfully). Probably not going to buy a new battery though. Waiting for a good deal on a Galaxy SIII or Nexus 4.
Thanks guys.

Someone once said to charge the battery to 100% then clear battery stats then drain it down to almost 0% then clear stats again. then charge it back to 100% in one sitting. that helps me sometimes when flashing an old backup and the percentage jumps around after a reboot.

Thats a placebo. It really doesn't do very much. If you get random battery level jumps, its a sign that you need a new battery
Spin it

Ive found that a lot of times you can't see it starting to bow, but if you spin it you can tell. If it just spins 90-180* then it's probably ok, but of it spins more than that it's bad. I grab the battery charger + 3 batteres from eBay for under $10. Now I just swap batteries rather than charge the phone.

Yeah but for every battery powered gadget they say that. It's more of an insurance for the manufacturer. So that when the consumer screws up and at the same time didn't follow the instructions, they can blame the consumer instead of actually fixing the fault.
TL;DR
Lithium batteries can be used immediately. If the manual says charge takes 3 hours and first charge should be 5 hours that's rubbish. They do not suffer from memory effect hence don't need to be discharged to 1-10% before recharging. Multiple short charges (e.g. from 60-100%) as compared to long charges (e.g. from 10-100%) is better for the battery and in all essence makes the battery last for a longer period of time. Want more information? Google it.

[Q] Is my battery dead?

Hello guys!
I've been having battery issues for a few months now. I can barely use my phone for a whole day, without having to charge it... 6-7 hours after I unplug it in the morning.
My day goes like this:
I wake up and use my phone for roughly 20 minutes
I take the bus which is about 25-30 minutes of use
Then I rarely use it at school
A few hours later I take the bus to the gym and use it there for probably 30 minutes total
Then I use it 25-30 minutes again on the way home
When I then get home, the phone is < 15% battery. I run 100% brightness and I just use it for browsing.
I just updated to Lollipop (running stock all the way) but the issue hasn't been fixed. What can I do? It's irritating to run around with the thought of my phone running out of juice in the middle of the day.
Thanks!

Well it's either your battery or you must have a wakelock keeping your phone awake a lot of the time. You can install wakelock detector and try and figure if something is draining your battery but I'm guessing since you have a note 3, it is a year or so old roughly? My guess also is that it's the battery. Do you have any friends with same device? If so swap batteries for a day and see if his battery dies quickly but you still have plenty of battery left. If so it's the battery mate. Another thought, I buy phones off contract now but back when I was tied to a specific carrier I could go into their local retail store and they would give me a new battery. You might try that if your circumstances are the same as mine were.
Good luck!

Which phone? Have you tried the specific forums for that phone?
How much battery do you lose overnight?
But generally, what are you doing in those times? Do you have Data, Wifi, GPS and BT all on during all that time?
An app like Better Battery Stats can help you work out just what is draining your phone.

Another thought, I buy phones off contract now but back when I was tied to a specific carrier I could go into their local retail store and they would give me a new battery. You might try that if your circumstances are the same as mine were.
Good luck!

It's from October 2013. I spoke to Samsung and they want me to send it in, because 9/10 cases it's not the battery or software, she said. Bull**** is what I say.
I can't send it in though. So I have to try a new battery.
A dead battery is usually recognisable by these symptoms:
- Sudden drops in battery level (from 70 to 30 in 3 seconds, for example).
- Random reboots with a sudden drop in battery.
- bulges, bloats or a curves battery when you look at it on a table.
- Extreme drain not caused by wakelocks, processes or settings, that still occurs without a SIM and MicroSD.
- Not fixed by a factory reset. (An Update isn't a reset.)
Did you try a factory reset? That's the first step in diagnosing a problem like this.
Did you try it without the (if you use one) MicroSD and SIM?
The MicroSD tends to cause Mediascanner wakelocks from a corrupt file. Easy to fix, but easier to miss.

I posted in the Note 3 subforum... Which phone do you think I have?
I charge it every night. Otherwise it dies.

Well... let's see... there's n900, n900t, n900a, n900v, n900p, n9002 and n9005 just for major types - all of them are Note 3's. At least 3 of them have their own sub-forums with their own Q&A section.
You could try charging it in the afternoon, say on the W/E and see how it goes when it is off overnight.
You could try BBS and see what is causing the problem, or Wakelock Detector will also give you info.
Or you could buy a new battery and hopefully NOT find out it does exactly the same thing when you've got it.
