Hi,
I've bought my HTC Hero a few days ago.
I've any fix with my GPS (gmaps, copilotlive, GPS Test).
I don't understand why
Any ideas ??
Best regards
Sorry i dont understand the question.
Are you saying thos apps dont work on the hero?
or that the GPS doesn locate you?
Im guessing there is a stock rom and everything is factory on it?
If so and the GPS doesnt work. Try standing outside. On a clear day to see if it will locate you in google maps. If it doesnt then i think you may have a defective unit. If its new it should definately be under the HTC warranty
I mean the gps don't locate me with google maps or copilot in outside locations
Sounds like you have a faulty unit then. register it online ith HTC support and send it back stating what is wrong, youl get a new one within a couple of days.
i've explained my problem to the customer service, but they don't want to send me a new phone. I've send it to a reparation center...I don't undestand why they don't want to give me a new one
you should ask them why they don't send a new one, not us...
do you have an answer from the customer service that you can paste here?
sry dbl post
You can try updating to a different radio version, I know that when I just updated to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26, it gave me bad hspa signals and gps does not fix as fast.
I recommend using 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22 for your device, gave me the best for gps fixes since I was able to lock in under 5 seconds at my Han Ah Reum (korean food market with industrial architecture and concrete, which is difficult to even get cellphone signals at times).
Any Fix with Hero's GPS / Very bad HTC customer service
Thanks everybody for your answer.
kendong2 : I'm a french customer, and my english is not so good. I'll try to translate the answer : the want me send my phone to a reparation center. But i cant stay several days/week without my phone. Any explication why they don't want to change.
I've asked to explain my pb to a responsible, they told me he will call me back but any call since several hours.
I'm very very disapointed by the htc customer service.
princedwi : I don't want to break the warranty.
I've already purchased an htc hero pink to my wife with the same firmware, same operator, and any pb with the gps

I don't know about France, but in the UK it is the responsibility of person who sold you the goods to make good on any warranty. In addition, since the GPS has never worked, again in the UK you'd be perfectly within you rights to ask for a replacement or a refund because the good were faulty at point of sale.
I would have though that France would've had similar, if not stronger, consumer protection laws, and I assume that you didn't buy your phone direct from HTC, so why don't you go back to the seller?
Regards,
Dave
i am surprised.. you can not take it back to the place you purchased it... and have them replace it with a new one.
it is only a few days old..right?

Same in France and in any EU contry...European Union countrys have a minimum warranty policy of 15 days to get a new device and 2 year warranty on products above 50€.
Countrys can decide to have better warranty laws but never less then this.
I was wondering if anyone else who owns the HK version has submitted the Warranty card ? Am hesitant to fill it out and send it in thinking if there was ever a problem I would have to send it to HK for repairs. Or once submitted can i send to Samsung U.S. for repairs?
It did come with a warranty card but has a Hong Kong address.
Any thoughts/ideas?
As far as I know that submitting warranty card isn't needed in HK and all you need, to repair your device, is the receipt. Surely you can bring your device to local Samsung CS for repairing but you will have to pay the repaire charge whether you have sent the warranty card or not.
Well being that I purchased my device from an online retailer i don't have a "real" receipt. I just wanted to know if I go ahead and register the warranty will I ONLY be able to have it repaired ( if/when necessary), in Hong Kong.
I am in the eastern part of the U.S.A. This device is not even sold here yet nor does it appear on Samsung/US's web site.

No. You must have the receipt for warranty.
Customer must present the original Warranty Card together with original purchase invoice to Samsung's Customer Service Officer for verification when warranty service is rendered Service fee will be charged if any one of the documents cannot be produced.

Unless Samsung hace suddenly introduced a worldwide warranty scheme I would think that a device obtained from Hong Kong would have to be returned to Hong Kong for repair.

If you don't have the purchase invoice, even if you send the device to Hong Kong, you will have to pay the repair fee (that means you lost the warranty for your 7.7).

I requested an official purchase invoice from Negri Electronics in Las Vegas, NV where I purchased the 7.7 off their web site.
Once I get that via email I will print it and have it for my record.
So....I guess I should register the 7.7 at Samsung/HK web site and then be faced with returning it to HK for any warranty repairs?
I was hoping I could register it here in the States and if needed, get warranty work done here in the US.
I am wondering about the warranty registration as well. I purchased my 7.7 from Negri Electronics too. Say, have you managed to change the time so that it doesn't show the correct time for Hong Kong all the time? I've not rooted yet as I just received it this afternoon but noticed the time change setting doesn't seem to work.
It has always been my understanding that if you buy a grey market piece of electronics, meaning a device sold in another country and not imported to your country by the manufacturer, they have no obligation to honor any warranty on it. That's one of the reasons I am hesitant to buy this device right now. If it breaks for any reason, you aren't necessarily covered for repairs no matter where in the world you send it. But I could be wrong.

In an ideal situation that would be great.
If...a big if it seems...Samsung were clever they would offer a Worldwide Warranty.
Apart from keeping consumers happy by being able to shop worldwide it would at least put Samsung on par with their major competitor...Apple.
It would also make Apple's litigation somewhat pointless.

There is no need to register your device on samsung/hk website. As long as you have the purchase invoice, they will offer you repair service for free in warranty term, according to my experience. (I live in Hong Kong)

When I first got my 7.7 I changed the language to English and the time zone to "Eastern" and have no problems since. It's in settings , date and time I think

The 7.7 will be sold here in the US , aren't we in a "Global Economy" now....I hope you are wrong. Go ahead and buy the 7.7 it's an amazing machine and I have had no problems with it either hardware or software, so far. I bought it end of Jan and got it first part of Feb. I have no plans to root it , and am anticipating ICS !

Had to do a reset and chose the time zone during the setup process. Time Zone stayed at that point but once again it won't change from my setup choice in settings. Called samsung US support for the tip and they helped even though they had never heard of or had any information on the 7.7.

Yeah when calling Samsung US for help you should tell them you have a 7.0 Plus..since it has the same ROM, i.e., Honeycomb 3.2,.......otherwise they may not even take the call. They have no information and many of the support staff have not even heard of the 7.7

All this has taken me about 2 weeks and I'm still left with a broken audio port. Seriously, what use do you have for European warranty law if no-one will accept the device? So, what are my options here? I know I could just drive to Germany (500km) or ship it to family in Germany and have them bring it to Media Markt but God knows how long that will take.. I'm really looking for a solution that doesn't require a 4 hour drive or a month of waiting. Also, I don't want to void my existing warranty (for what it's worth) so taking it to some shady cellphone repair shop is a no-go.
So what are my options? I'm starting to get really annoyed. (In b4 "buy a bluetooth headset", I'm really starting to consider that one actually but I don't want to give up my good Sennheiser...)

Sorry, somehow i skipped that part ! So this isnt that complicated for you :
1) You contact the play store where it has been bought from ? You bought it from a play store right ? You're not saying this.
2) You initiate the product replacement from them
3) They will send the replacement to the german (or whatever) adress. With this replacement comes a pre-paid stamp to send your faulty phone to Poland. I'm pretty sure you can use this stamp in every european country.
4) Your family send the package back to you for a small cost.
Complicated, but thats your call i guess ...

THat's Phase 4. This reminds me of Madagascar 3 when the gangs are going to catch the penguins :good:
Samsung has officially confirm that they will not honor any warranty they can see the Knox software being tripped, as in my case today.
They will not replace or repair any phone that has this status on the screen, as this is a directive from Samsung HQ.
Clarification from Samsung UK at last then. Bugger :crying:
Takes UK rooting to a whole new level then, especially with the amount of defective devices there has already been floating around. 0x1 is certainly a risk now more than ever.. especially if they won't fulfil any fixes even if you choose to pay.

documented in this thread, altho no emails etc, no reason to lie really.
Also, I've come to the conclusion that Samsung do UK repairs through third party shops (from when I looked for one in my city York), therefore they decide on what they will and will not repair given on Samsung's original advice it seems.
Nope direct words from the technical engineer at Samsung service center at Stratford Westfield I also have a the following email.
Regarding your Note 3, we have done some investigating into the fault and it turns out that the device has what we call, been rooted. This means that un official software has been loaded onto the device and in the end this results in the voiding of the warranty.
Please feel free to come and collect the handset but i am sorry to deliver the bad news.

OK so what I can gather from this is - Samsung themselves will NOT repair a device even if you try/offer to pay to have it done.
But.... Their third party representative shops seem to be carrying out repairs 0x0 or 0x1 regardless?
That sound about right?
Really? I think EU law would supercede this.

Yes, that is true. They cant get away citing Knox. See this
http://matija.suklje.name/rooting-and-flashing-your-device-does-not-void-the-warranty-in-eu
no it can't
just because samsung want it to doesn't mean that it does
european law will take precedence ....you may have to fight for it but they can't refuse to honour the warranty unless they can prove rooting and installing a rom has broken the phone
way to many companies try this on .....(sorry you hav broken this sticker you have voided your warranty) .......not in the uk you don't or the rest of europe for that matter
Sue the bell-ends
Right... this is an ideal case for the UK small claims court. It can all be done online, and the process does work.
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/engla..._e/law_taking_legal_action_e/small_claims.htm
Samsung (and their peers) need to be told that EU law trumps their stupid unfair warranty rules.
The claim will actually be against the retailer, since it is with them that you have a contract, so you need to (rather unfairly) go after the shop or the service provider who sold you the phone.
I believe the process costs around £40, and I dont think you need to attend court in person.
A friend of mine successfully went through this process with the provider Three UK when he couldnt get HTC to repair the camera that had cracked on his phone. He won a judgement against Three for the full (unlocked) value of the handset, and got the money.
If this can be successfully done, and documented, it will start to set a precedent that unrelated hardware faults cannot be excluded from warranty rights (actually statuary rights in the EU) due to rooting, or any other software mod.
I strongly urge you to follow this course, for the good of the many (as well as yourself).
I want to root my Note3, but dare not...
cheers
George

Is what I said here or in another thread (theres a lot around this currently). The warranty in the UK lays with the seller be it carrier, P4U or CPW or somewhere else. - 9 out of 10 times they'll fix/replace anyway. It's just Samsung themselves that are being stubborn (Samsung don't sell phones directly to consumer in the UK for whatever reason..). - It's all about not taking no for an answer more than anything.
I will write to Samsung UK and give them 14 days to refund the full amount I paid for a new phone. After that I will seek action from a small claims court, lets see what they say now
Good Stuff

Considering the EFS partition on this device is so fragile and will brick if you so much as sneeze on it, I am starting to regret tripping my knox.
Sure Samsung have no right to supersede EU law but you will have to go through so much hassle just to get them to honour their warranty.
Everyday when I use my Note 3 I always expect the WiFi to suddenly stop working, or the IMEI to disappear, or the device to start rebooting randomly. There are just so many reports of these problems randomly happening and add that to Samsung's stupid idea of 0x1 making your warranty invalid, I feel like I have wasted so much money. Sure this is a great device, but for how long will that last!

Actually, I think that you're wrong here. You guys in the EU have the advantage that law is on your side. Your disadvantage is that as individuals you're small and inconsequential. Thus Samsung as a Multi-Billion dollar corporation can give each and every one of you sh*t without worrying about it.
You're phone provider, on the other hand, is NOT a small and inconsequential individual. So if you all start to sue P4U or CPW how long do you think it will be before those companies start questioning Samsung?
Especially when the actual text states "Knox Warranty Void" NOT 'Device Warranty Void"
Ultimately this will benefit those who don't have the umbrella of EU law.
Go for it guys
So I'm in the UK and i bought it on eBay, brand new in July from a seller in Sweden, it's been great but noticed yesterday that something internally has come loose and is moving about (maybe a camera component as it's in the top half)

You'll still be covered by Paypal, so get a claim in ASAP. Also, the IN2020 model is the Chinese variant, so won't be covered by warranty in the UK.
Yes this is what i thought regarding the CH variant, just went through the repair steps on UK oneplus site and looked like it was going to let me return it? didn't complete though as i haven't got a temp phone yet.
A PP claim would involve a full refund tho and i'm not sure i need to do that? Could maybe save some quids though as the 8pro is £70 cheaper now

PayPal will only cover a SNAD (Significantly Not As Described) claim if the fault was already there when the item was first received. It is not a warranty.
In this case the problem developed only a few days ago.

Go PayPal buddy, UK will return it I would have thought, they won't have parts, my OnePlus 5 went to Czech Republic when RMA'd.
Could ask but why should you if it's faulty, you as the buyer are protected way more than the seller, I've learned this the hard way, even though I wasn't at fault
Ok well i requested a return with UK oneplus so will say what they say tomoz.
I mean what will be quicker though? I will have to return it before seeing my money back, then i have to buy another which will take close to a week to arrive, prob not a lot in it i guess? but i suppose i could make the saving as well? :/
So looking at my paypal i bought this on 17th of June.
Which means i don't see any option for returning for a refund? Can't see it on paypal or ebay.

Afaik theres a 6 month fair usage policy globally for goods bought.. Not sure if they have to adhere to this but I'd have thought so.
You don't expect things to go wrong that soon. So you should have a case.
Tbh though they may just fix the device lol (OnePlus I mean)
There are only two valid scenarios for claiming through PayPal - Item Not Received (INR) or Significantly Not As Described (SNAD). Neither of these are true in this case (the phone was received, and was working when it was received), so there is no valid claim against PayPal.
Had the phone been bought from a UK-based seller, then the contract would have been with that seller and they would have been responsible for repair or replacement. I have no idea what the situation is in Sweden, but they may have similar legislation.
The OP may be lucky, and OnePlus UK might repair/replace (although there's no legal obligation on them to do so), but if not then any responsibility sits with the (Swedish) seller of the phone.

Honestly I can't remember if mine always did it or not.
Dang, seems fairly common across diff phones then... :/
I have dropped mine a few times while in a decent case so no signs at all from drop damage but maybe this is what dislodged it? They are prob originally held in place with double-sided sticky tape like a lot of components in phones... Whack!!

You are buying a phone from a Seller. All that PayPal are doing in that transaction is acting as the payment processor. As part of their service, they offer protection to the Buyer against (1) Item Not Received (you pay for the phone and nothing arrives) or (2) the item being Significantly Not As Described (you receive a phone with a broken screen, or you pay for an 8 Pro and you receive an 8, or even an empty box).
They do not offer a warranty - if the item arrives, and it is as described, then PayPal's liability ends at that point.
Any warranty issues (i.e. the phone having problems some time after arriving) are the liability of the Seller and have nothing to do with PayPal. (In some cases the manufacturer will offer an additional warranty and will repair an item directly, but that's a goodwill offer on their part, not a legal obligation).
The complications in this particular case are that (1) the Buyer is in the UK and the Seller is in Sweden, (2) the Seller is not being responsive, and (3) the Buyer has admitted to having dropped the phone a number of times.

Ah @ 3
that changes things.
fair enough, tbh i've had my fair share of crap as a seller with paypal, they're not the best customer service i've ever had lets put it that way.
Anyway, i think he'll get it sorted via RMA in the uk tbh, i think it'll work.
Or it'll be too late by the time they've fixed it.
Ok, so is dropping it from say 1 to 2 foot is not part general use? Obviously I'm not going to declare this so really it shouldn't be an issue.
I agree that Paypal don't really have a part of this, but if they offer reimbursement/guarantee on this sort of thing then yes i will take them up on that but I'm not going to push it.
Just waiting to hear back from Oneplus...
