International Note 2 at FCC already.. - Galaxy Note II General

http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/12/galaxy-note-2-fcc/
Sweet! At least we know it's already at the FCC and will most likely be good to go.
No U.S. LTE on this one (as expected), but that's good for those of us who hope to use this on our Unlimited MediaNet plans.

I think...the N7100 version is the one everyone is waiting for. At least I am.

Je le croyais aussi.

N7100 vs N7105
I really have no idea but it appears the N7105 is international version with no LTE, at least that works with ATT. The N7100 is the model number with LTE that will work with ATT. Is this true? Negri Electronics is selling the N7100, the spec says "4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100". Does this work with ATT 4G LTE? Is this the model, if you want LTE, to buy?
I preordered from Negri a week ago, but definitely want LTE in U.S.so keep order or cancel? Many websites reference in specs LTE but others call for 2 models....anyone really know. Clove U.K. simply calls device Samsung Note 2, no reference to N7100 or N7105. It clearly doesn't show in specs 4G LTE, only 3G.Handtec (U.K.) calls out phone N7100 with the following spec:"3G: HSPA+ 21Mbps (HSDPA 21Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps) 4G LTE: 100Mbps/ 50Mbps (HDSPA 42Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps)
So which is it? Does anyone know?

It should work because ATT operates Lte on the 1700 and 2100 bands.

Yes... Same with Bell Canada LTE 700/1700/2100.
However what's confusing me is reading from the verge preview is the n7100 didn't have LTE.
Gsmarena also states this and list LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100 - N7105.

That's the problem seems to have conflicting opinions, like no one really knows.i just asked Negri electronics ans this is what he wrote:
Anthony - Negri Care
Hey Bob, I do see your inquiry. According to specs this unit will get the full LTE mobile data speeds but we are unable to guarantee this until they are released.
So maybe all speculation and we won't know until this device is released.

Thank you for the summary. I was trying to find a clear answer on this all over and this is the only place ive seen it sumarized. Im looking to get a moto x for tmobile, but I wanted to make sure that it had 1700 HSDPA. It seems only the dev model and the t mobile version do.
Thanks for posting this. I am quite sure the Rogers version supports the exact same LTE bands as AT&T. I know for certain it supports band 4 as that is what I'm using mine with.
I found this info in Rogers website. Is it a mistake?

I don't think its a mistake, its just that Rogers only lists the bands they actually use, not the bands the phone supports. I'm surprised they claim LTE band 7. While Rogers uses it the FCC data for the phone doesn't list any approval for band 7 that I can find.(yes Rogers is in Canada but our approvals generally follow the FCC info)
I figure that the way Motorola differentiates between the bands supported would be the model number, such as XT-1058.
This is why your table is so valuable, the info is very hard to find. I'm not using my Rogers Moto X with Rogers, just like many others want to buy a Moto X for another provider so if you can get the info bang on it will help many people.
edit - did more research and I'm very confident the Rogers Moto X supports LTE bands 2,4,5,17 - the same as AT&T's XT-1058 as the FCC ID on the Rogers phone is the same as AT&T and Motorola's own test reports list LTE bands 2,4,5, and 17.
edit #2 - I looked up the Canadian certification, there is no 2600 mhz in the Moto X.

That is great that Rogers thinks its a 2600mhz device, but it isn't. The iFixit tear down found no 2600 mhz hardware, the Industry Canada certification has no request for or approval given for 2600 mhz and the FCC certification has no request for or approval given for 2600 mhz.
So no matter what Rogers says, there isn't 2600 mhz support in the XT-1058.
The only way its possible is if Motorola put different hardware into a phone with the same XT-1058 model number(not gonna happen) and if they didn't bother to tell Industry Canada or the FCC that it was present, in which case they will be a in a lot of trouble very soon.

I dont know why Moto make so hard to find the LTE bands Moto X supports. But I have a XT1058 that I bought in Brazil and use in LTE band 7 (2600 mhz) . This same model is for sale in Claro Chile that uses LTE band 7 also. My phone is assembled in Brazil but it has FCC ID IHDT56PA1 Type M0DD7.I don't believe Moto uses a different hardware with the same model name.
The model info is available on the Wikipedia Moto X page. It clearly states which model is capable of which frequency/band there.

OK, I finally found information from the FCC that confirms the XT1058 does in fact have 2600 Mhz Band 7 LTE. However it is not approved for use in the US. The normal AT&T firmware has the band disabled, however someone has confirmed that the AT&T 4.4 leak has it enabled(Likely an error).
The Rogers XT1058 should have band 7 enabled in firmware however LTE band 17 is disabled.(700 mhz)
The IC (Industry Canada) certification is all messed up and doesn't indicate the proper bands the phone supports.
One correction...I don't think Sprint has a 32GB version.

Very interesting. Looking to pick one of these up from rogers and use it on telus. Wondering if Telus has band 7 lte 2600Mhz. Or is that JUST rogers? Im hearing that buying from rogers and sim unlocking will only get hspa+ on Telus. Anyone confirm or have a clear answer on that?

SM-P605 LTE WHITE 32GB - Arrived Yesterday

I got it! Woooah baby this thing is nice! Feels like the best gsm device on the market to me. I grabbed it on ebay, $831 w/next day shipping. Wifi internet is fast. Tmobile gave me a sim and its registered on their network but they cant figure out how to get it connected yet, they have a trouble ticket out on it. Just trying to get the 200mb free for now. I have wifi tethering on my phone and 2.5gb for it at the moment.

Assuming the N10.1-14 you purchased is the international version it'll never get LTE because the SM-605 doesn't support U.S. LTE bands.
You'll be able to use it on HSPA in T-Mobile's re-farmed markets that support the 3G 1900MHz band. It will work on AT&T because it supports all of their GSM bands.
Thanks!

I have a SM-601 and had a N-8000 before that - both on AT&T. If you want to use the phone and messaging features you need to have it added to your plan as a "phone" not a tablet. I have it on my AT&T plan as a non-Smartphone with unlimited data for $10 a month. AT&T doesn't recognize the IMEI since it's a foreign device. The 601/605 both support up to 42MB down on HSPA networks. T-Mobile uses dual-channel so you can get (theoretically) 42MB down on their network, AT&T's limited to 21MB. I typically get between 5-8MB down on AT&T which is considered high-normal. I think T-Mobile does better than that on HSPA. Neither the 601 or 605 support T-Mobile's 700MHz AWS band so the only way to get HSPA+ speeds is in markets they've re-farmed to 1900MHz. Your local T-Mobile office can tell you if your area has been re-farmed. The problem with 1900MHz is that it and other higher frequencies don't penetrate walls well so indoor reception can be challenging.
Good luck!
P.S. - AT&T and T-Mobile call their HSPA+ networks "4G." They aren't, they're considered 3G everywhere else in the world.
Thanks!

There's no mystery. Either the P-SM601 or P-SM605 will get 3G on AT&T and on T-Mobile in markets they've re-farmed to 1900MHz. If you add either device to an AT&T Family Share plan it's now only $15 a month including unlimited voice and MMS since you're "bringing your own."

Thanks for the confirmation. Our wireless account is on Sprint, so if I went this route it would be a new account, but I do have friends on T-Mobile so I might be able to join them.
According to the T-Mobile plans from a year ago, San Diego was supposed to be re-farmed this past year. I suppose it would be nice to know that was done, and that someone has been successful getting the device connected.
I'll probably wait until after CES to see if there are any new announcements.

[Q] SM-N910F

Does anyone know if the SM-N910F will get LTE service on AT&T in the United States?
I am looking for a definite answer as well from someone who has the F or the C. I would rather go with Internation if I am going to bring my own phone to AT&T
Has anyone seen/read any confirmation if a the N910F or N910U will work with the AT&T Network? I currently have the AT&T N910A and have only till the 25th to return it; phone cannot be rooted at this time and don't want to be stuck with it.
I'm reading conflicting reports saying the the N910U will work with AT&T, the N910C is exynos based and would like a Qualcom based version.
I ended up purchasing a SM-N910F. While it does work on the AT&T network I am getting 4G connectivity but no LTE indicator.

Sorry Bro, but 4G does not equal LTE. At least not in the US. A while back when 4G was an upcoming technology, carriers started pushing updates to the phones that made the phone display 4G even though it was actually running HSPA+ (3.5G). When LTE came out, the phones would still either display 4G or would display 4G LTE or just LTE. The only true way to tell if your phone is recognizing the LTE network is in your "About Device" Status screen under Mobile Network Type/State. That will tell you which network you are connected to, whether it be EDGE(2G), HSDPA(3G), HSPA+(3.5G/4G), or LTE(4G LTE).
AT&T is pretty tight lipped about their service. I have received many different answers depending on who you talk to at AT&T. The only thing I can suggest is to put the AT&T sim card it and make sure you have the APN configured correctly. The European model of the Note 4 actually has more LTE bands than the AT&T model. For quick reference, wikipedia states that AT&T in the US uses 2, 4, and 17.
Off of Samsung US for Note 4 AT&T:
SM-N910A - B2(1900) / B4(AWS) / B5(850) / B12(700) / B17(700)
Off of Samsung UK for Note 4 Europe Unlocked:
SM-N910F - B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B17(700), B20(800)
Interesting to note that the AT&T Note Edge has almost all the same LTE bands as the European Note 4.
Off of Samsung US for Note Edge AT&T:
SM-N915A - B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B17(700), B20(800)
So with that being said, just because it uses the same bands, doesn't mean that it will function properly on another carrier's network.
So, if you are having issues getting LTE, then you may be in an area that strictly uses Band 12 or there is a configuration issue somewhere. I would get with AT&T and hash out the configuration issue and AT&T will help you out if you bring an unlocked phone to their network. More often than not, it's an IMEI issue. Their IMEI to LTE database is very rigid and if I recall correctly only has the IMEIs for AT&T phones and no others. A bit closed minded in my opinion, but they won't change it.
Now, with all that being said, I want to make something perfectly clear. AT&T does not guarantee LTE service, even on their own phones. Though with the AT&T variation you will get LTE more often than the European variation. Doesn't seem like it would work that way, but that's why AT&T has their variation. It's been vetted by AT&T.

HTC M9+ on VZW 700 band LTE

Hey team, surely we can figure this out. I have an M8, rooted on VZW in the USA. I am going to buy an M9+ on amazon purely for fun. On PhoneArena, it specifies that it does recieve 700 band LTE, VZW's main LTE band. VZW owns the 700MHz Upper Block C (band 13) so I believe it will be compatible, just not with XLTE, which uses band 4 (1700MHz). Just looking for someone selling one or any tricks thanks!
Don't forget that Verizon is CDMA based while the M9+ is GSM only. Even if Verizon uses SIM cards for LTE & device might not work. Also note that LTE is only used for data, so even if it did work, you'll probably not get voice calls.

Thanks! That's a great point as well. My speculation is that the VoLTE for Verizon, which utilizes the 700 band. So maybe VoLTE would still work. I'm sure an M9/M8 Sense 7 rom port could work.. Now I did find these networks when doing a network scan with my TW version of M9+ in Boston area:
I believe 4G is LTE. Weird thing is it didn't find AT&T 4G (Cricket is on AT&T). Unfortunately I can't find a way to see which bands they are.

Oh really? F*ckin juicy.. Sane thing, my Nexus is unlocked and finds T-Mo, Sprint and VZW, no AT&T. So will it work?! (in theory)

It's sad i can't find the following directory in my M9+.
/sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_diag
Maybe somebody have the enough knowledge to help dig the bands in MTK SoC.

I have used the M9+ in DC on the Cricket network and I only get 3G. I think there are ways by which bands can be unlocked. I remember having a similar thing back when I was using the One X.

By TW do you mean Taiwanese? I am assured this is an authentic Taiwanese HTC, I was checking on the Uh Oh Protection. Is the band 4 AWS correct? Is that the part of the 700 band that is shared by most LTE networks?

Well, I pulled the trigger. After seeing your screenshots, I'm going with the M9+.
Just selling my M8 for ~$450.

Just bought this gold on silver baddie for ~$582!!

Band 4 AWS is 1700/2100 not 700MHz.

I would suggest that you cancel the order if you still can. Even if it does somehow support Vz 700 or AWS band, which I strongly doubt, you won't be able to make calls since Vz use CDMA for that. M9+ probably doesn't support VoLTE either so you end up with a 5.2 inch tablet at best.

AWS should work. I route most my calling over Wi-Fi/data anyways. If calling doesn't work, I am going to use the Project Fi sim from my Nexus 6. I'm on Wi-Fi literally almost everywhere. I wonder if anyone has thought of flashing the M9 dialer over to the M9+. I've edited my scripts and got VoLTE to work for my HTC M8 with something similar. Any dev suggestions?

Update
Got the M9+ today and it's stunning, of course. It's not surprising that it won't with Verizon, but it is a great phone. Still looking into Project Fi.
My VZW should allow you to connect to Verizon.. haha just the phone.
Will update with more info upon Fi-ing/root.

Is this with Vz SIM card?
Anyways, I don't think it works with any US LTE network. It probably picked up the 2100MHz downlink part of AWS in the network search. Since it lacks the 1700MHz uplink part, it can't really use it. You are better off switch to AT&T or TMO and use their 1900MHz 3G (HSDPA+, US carriers call it 4G) networks.

Its a Verizon sim out of my M8, currently active. I think it works on the LTE so it picks up the 4G network, but without the CDMA backbone it wont connect. Says it will work on any GSM network in the US, maybe flip it here in the states instead of selling it. Any root suggestions?

LTE on AT&T

Anyone who purchased the unlocked version of this phone and who's carrier is AT&T, do you have consistent 4G coverage? I find my phone spends most of the time on H+. I contacted AT&T and had them provision it to allow connection to the LTE network and while at times it does connect in certain areas it does not connect as my wife's sg8 does. The speeds are also not as fast as she sees on her sg8. I feel like I have to conclude it does not support all of AT&T's bands. I wonder if this is hardware or software limited. Any thoughts?

IDK if a software update can/would enable more band support,I sure hope so:
A call to ASUS is in order,to get then to specify exactly which LTE Bands are supported.
Reason I say this is because some other sites are listing the specs as full (or close to it) LTE Support for North American markets & for using my 8GB/128GB model on T-Mobile US ,this does not seem to be the case:
At my current location,I am getting only Band 2 LTE on T-Mobile,which is a fallback band, along with Band 12.
Band 4 is the predominate LTE Band for T-Mobile in virtually all markets they service (w/a few exceptions, where Band 12 is primary).
I should be pulling in Band 4 with no problem,I've reset network settings & this changes nothing, along with trying an alternative T-Mobile APN.
I'm able to connect to Band 2 LTE,UMTS,HSPA+,but AFAICT,no Band 4 support & from my best guess,;looking around @ ASUS,no Band 12 support either.
Not trying to hijack the thread & turn it into a T-Mobile LTE Thread, just letting you know AT&T apparently isn't the only network that is sparse in connectivity to this phone in North America.
If nothing else,a word of caution to those considering buying this phone, get the word directly from ASUS regarding LTE Connectivity with your service provider.
Chances are the support isn't as good as some other similarly priced global phones on the market.
I can live with just Band 2 LTE ,if coverage is strong in my town,I've yet to try it out in all surrounding areas.
If coverage is spotty,I'm boxing it back up & sending it back.
FWIW,here's a .PDF from ASUS listing the LTE Band support for the AR & a few other devices:

Anyone got ideas/input on how/if more bands can be turned on/etc... (if the hardware supports it),by all means, please jump in. :good:
Their seem to three vibrants
1) Verizon LTE band 2/4.
2) global LTE band 2.
3)north America LTE band 2/4/12.
How do tell the different between global and north America vibrants??
