Hi All
I have acquired an old HD2 (India version 'unlocked') from a cousin. The phone's touch screen is not responding and I believe I would have to get it replaced (or do so myself).
Now to resurrect HD2 I need an LCD + touch screen digitiser (the screen is cracked at the bottom n I can even see bit of the chip inside). Hence the following questions:
1. Does anyone know if the Indian version has a socket type or solder type of LCD + digitizer panel?
2. Anywhere I can get an OEM version of the panel? (preferably in India or at the least delivered in India)
3. What will it cost me if I go to the service center to get it replaced if anyone has an expericene with service center in Delhi (I would be going to a service center in New Delhi)
There is a slight chance that I might need to get the buttons ribbon replaced as well. I would not be keen on spending too much.
Any input is appreciated. (Just in case this thread should be in another section or if the question has been asked before, I apologise in advance. The MODs can move it to the appropriate location.)

AFAIK there are only 3 types of HD2:
- EU/International
- TMOUS
- Telstra
I don't really know what the last one is, but you can tell the EU and TMOUS apart easily. If the phone has a T-Mobile branding at the top and has green and red call and end call buttons then it's TMOUS. Otherwise the likelihood is that it's an EU/International (no T-Mobile logo and white buttons). Figure out which yours is and then find a guide to take apart and replace the screen of that particular model.
Thanks!! It has white buttons n no T-mobile branding (T-mobile is not there in India). So I suppose it is the international version.
I believe the International variant has a solder type of connection. Am I correct?
Now only if some Indian folks can guide me where to find the parts (which can be shipped to India, don't want to end up spending too much) or some feedback on the service centers in India.
Edit: How much would it cost getting this done in UK? I'm gonna be in UK at this month's end.

As far as you need a combo(lcd+touchscreen), it doesn't matter what type, any model for hd2 can be mounted on.
Finding it on ebay could be the cheapest choice, most of suppliers deliver worldwide.
Be careful if buying from ebay as quality of parts vary drastically ...
full lcd & digitizers as a matching pair will cross fit to any HD2.
You can see the digitizer type in original bootloader screen details:
"MicroP (Touch) 0x30" you have inside your Phone a "60H00295" *solder
"MicroP (Touch) 0x50" you have inside your Phone a "60H00300" *connector

I (my 1.5 year old daughter) managed to crack the LCD display on my new TyTN(!!!). I tried transplanting in it an old HTC Wizard display that I had, which turns on as blank white and therefore doesn't help me... I have been looking on ebay and found a company from HK that sells new displays. They have generation 1 or 2 types. see here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Full-LCD-Screen...hZ015QQcategoryZ41343QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
I assume this is probably the problem I have (??) I guess the display generations are different.
Does anybody have any insight into this? Has anybody replaced an LCD display in their TyTN?
I'll be happy to provide a detailed step-by-step on how to do the replacement if anybody is in the same #$%@y situation I am in...
I'd greatly appreciate any information... I need my phone back...
I deleted your duplicate post in the Upgrading forum btw.
T-mobile Vario II
Hi I have a Tytn from T-mobile (the Vario II). I've been searching here in the uk for a LCD screen also and cannot find one for this anywhere! If you figure it out please let me know, I would be extremely grateful. Taking it to a place called Carphone warhouse tomorrow hopefully they can repair it. Will let you know thanks.
Don't know if it will help you or not, but here it is the part number of HTC TyTN screen, I got it on the description sheet after service center fixed screen alignment issue on mine:
Code: HTC60H00037-01M
Description: TFT-LCD MODULE, TD028STEB1, NEW SUNPLUS, TOPPOLY, TYTN
It was an HTC TyTN with S/N HTC628.
Also try to google this.

OK, so I first tried to place a display from a dead HTC-Wizard in my TyTN - which does not work. It fits perfectly, but all I get is a white screen and somehow it is draining the battery in 1/2 a day. They must have changed something in the display. For now I am only using my phone via voice command to place and receive calls :-(
I ordered a new display from http://stores.ebay.com/hitechhk
They claim as I mentioned to have TyTN displays with generation 1 or 2 although the image says they are displays for O2 mini. I sent a query asking what generation would I need based on photos of my broken display (which looked different than both!). I got a reply that their tech was looking at the pictures to determine which display I need and then got a response that the item shipped - that's communicating across the globe for you... Anyway, my new display is on the way and hopefully it works. I have no idea what they shipped.
I looked at some of the links posted by mikechannon and pof above and these sites seem more B2B (no place to place an order).
Anyway, I'll let you know as soon as it arrives (it shipped 2 days ago) if I'm lucky or not. If so - it's a pretty easy solution. If not...
OK, I am very confused now...
I got my display yesterday from hightechhk - it is not compatible.
Quite frankly, it is identical to my old HTC wizard display and only produces a blank white screen on the TyTN.
Note that this is part number TD028STEB1 and despite the previous mentions that this is TyTN compatible - it is not in my case...
I am back to square one - trying to get an exchange / refund from hightechhk.
Otherwise, my only route will be repair by HTC America (if they take it...).

I just wonder if there is something else wrong and the replacement screen is fine - possibly digitizer. Have you tried a hard reset?
I just decided to start my contingency plan - repair by HTC.
This ordeal started by calling HTC America, who forwarded me to HTC UK.
I need apparently to send my phone to the UK for repair...
Anyway, to your question - I dare not try a hard reset yet until I am officially ready to send my phone for repair to HTC. The reason is that I am using the phone via voice command (the display is dead - so no dialing there...). If I hard reset - I can really only answer incoming calls...
Anyway - I'll give it a try before I ship it, although I doubt it will work.
I have been around many places in the UK...
and can only find two places which will repair it, both costing £150!!! ygeller
do you have the number for HTC in the UK thank you very much hope you get the screen fixed.
I got these numbers: +44 (0) 8458900079 HTC UK
+44 (0) 1202714530
After talking to someone on the first number I was told to call the repair center:
+44 1 908556464 repair center
The repair center hardly answers - you leave a message and they call you back.
I then went to http://support.htceurope.com and created my own repair request. I got a price estimate which was more like 100 GPB including shipping to the US and 5 days typical turnaround. The website generated the RMA process and claimed to have sent me an email with the return instructions - so far, I have not received the email... unbelievable...
Yes. The price sucks. Then again having paid so much for the phone and not being able to use it sucks more...
Yep that ties up with this site:
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/cs_by_phone.html
Mike
For reference, I now finally see that the part number I am missing is:
60H00056-00M
the part I got from HK (fits the HTC Wizard) is 60H00037-00M
Hence the mismatch.
Searching the "37" part on google yeilds all sorts of results.
Searching for the "56" part yields nothing... to new? :-(
ygeller Thanks!
Thank you very much ygeller, you have saved me at least £50 and the turnaround is a lot shorter than the 4 weeks I was quoted somewhere else. The internet is a wonderful place most of the time seriously thanks again! Hope all goes well with yours once you get it back.
Problem
Hi!
I have similar problem.
While the charge of battery is over 95% touch screen response me, but later no, rest of device continues working perfectly.
Ygeller, what generation of lcd purchase you?
Ì'm sure that the 1st is not for my device (vodafone v1605 HERM200) but i'm not sure if 2nd will be correct for me.
And if somebody has passed him similar problem and has a solution estaria him very thanked for if me it explained it.
Excuse my bad english.
It was neither gen1 or gen2.
The display they sent me was simply incompatible. It was a Wizard screen - not TyTN.
I couldn't find anywhere on the web a replacement part for TyTN, so I sent it for repair by HTC.
Tytn LCD Module
Just read through thread - trying to pick up on LCD module suppliers.
It seems there is some confusion as to the type of LCD the HTC Tytn and its various "brother" PDA use. Here is what I found out after some extensive correspondence with a supplier in China:
There are a number of incompatible LCD modules each of which is fitted with its own video controller. The marking (usually) with a big sticker on the ribbon like connector states which type is used.
These are the descriptors to look for and order by:
Samsung - LTP280QV-E01
Toppoly - TD025STEB1
Hitachi - TX0704APAA1
The other codes mentioned in the thread are equivalent:
Hitachi - 60H00056-00m
etc...
In any case if anyone knows where to find the Hitachi I would be very happy!
I just got finished replacing the screen on my 8525. I got it from e-bay (gold electronics) had good service and got the exact screen for my phone. around 79 + shipping.
Which screen did you replace?
Info on Tytn LCD Types
Hope this sorts the "White Screen" business out...
These screens differ in the controller they need.
HTC has diversified its use of LCD modules probably to cut prices... but it is a pain to fix!

No link available - unfortunately what I need
I have been trying to locate the service manual for Touch Dual as I have cracked the LCD screen.
The replacement cost including labour is AU$170+ (Australia)
I have found replacement LCD on eBay for about AU$100
Can anyone shed some light on the service manual so I can replace it myself?
Or if you know good repairman in NSW Sydney metro area??
Thank you and much appreciated!
** I think this should be posted under "upgrading etc" - can somebody move it for me please? My apologies...**

hi
i got the service manual as my nike is not sensing my touchs so i presume the digitizer needs replacing ?
can you tell me which pages i need to look at ? i am confused do i need to take out the main pcb board to access the screen on the slider ?
Hi guys it s been a while that i am getting help from this community but this time i really need help.
My touch screen on my kaiser has been broken ( it didn't crash anywhere i just tapped it and then a broke) . Anyway i am trying to find a replacement part somewhere in europe ( i dont want an outside country because of the customs) .
I understand though that there are two replacement lcds for this model. I i somewhere read that there are two different touch screens too.
Do u know which way i can find which part is right for me. ANd do u know any good store inside E.U where i can find several parts ( i need that big button's cable ).
Notice that i have open my mobile twice.
Thanks guys.
Bought that one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370116736244
From Hong Kong, took 7 days to send to Germany without taxes
I have just got my replacement digitizer in the mail 2day from Hong Kong and installed it just now, all is working perfectly as new again. I did a hard reset when the touch screen was first playing up, so I have lost all my themes, settings etc but luckily my office docs etc are still intact.
Anyhow, I made a video on how to replace the touch screen, its only quick as I did not go from the disasembly part, as there is already videos and tutorials on this, so I just documented on the actual digitizer replacement, which is actually basic 2-5mins work, but I thought a vid would be good for any noobs needing it in the future.
Once I edit it all up I will post the video here.
If anyone needs help on replacing the digitizer just ask. DON'T be tricked into buying the LCD + Digitizer if you only need the touch screen, as it is very easy to do without the lcd, though some ppl disagree.
Thanks for reading, thread will be updatd with Vid asap.
Hi X86
I have a crack on the upper plastic case, thats prob. why I have dirt showing on screen. In your opinion where is it located and can I clean it ?
It seems as if (if the crack is on the actual original housing, not just a add-on case) that dirt/dust has fallen down inbetween the digitizer and the LCD, so you can see it through the touchscreen right?
This is fairly simple to fix, you will either need to patch up the crack with silicone or something (best from the inside so it does'nt look messy) OR buy yourself a whole nw housing which cost about US15-$20.
Then just pull your elf/in apart and use cotton tips and wipes to thoroughly clean the LCD and insides.
If you need any help, just let me know via PM or here.
?Good Luck!
Thanks
That was my feeling, now I just need courage to take apart the casing (either repair or replace )
Thanks for bringing up this issue in the forum and extending your hand to others.
I appreciate it alot.
Hi x86
I have read the sticky for disassembling the elf. Can you tell me if it's necessary to unscrew anything and remove the rear speaker in order to remove the front panel ?
Edit: I think I found the answer in the next pics, the 4 screws attach to the front panel, right ?
Hi, i've just entered the world of winmo. i've recently wrecked my Elfin. But i can't seem to figured it out whether it's the LCD or the digitizer is broken...
1) my Elfin's screen turns to white with a few red and black stripes on the lower left corner, it doesn't react to any touch gesture.
2) i can still activesync the device and seems that my SD card is still working, i could copy out my PIMcontacts...thank goodness
3) the alarm still rings the next morning, i assume my device is still operating, of course now i've taken out the battery.
4) i've ask the phone shop for repair enquiries and they said that the replacement parts are not for retail selling in my country, Malaysia... so it needs to send back my Elfin to OEM and takes about 3 weeks time and cost around USD $ 130 bucks....
5) my friends told me it wasn't worth it, thus i was thinking of looking for help online and finally i found this thread...
6) can anyone offer few pieces of info? i thank you 1st.

That sounds like both a Digitizer and LCD issue.
Red and white strips is caused by the screen, while the phone not sensing your fingers is caused by digitizer.
But you still managed to use something like mymobiler to rescue your stuff right?
Yeah, you're in Malaysia right? In Singapore, to get this items, we have to get it off ebay or dealextreme.com.
But be careful with this, it void warrenty.
If you send it to HTC service centre, it may cost $160> Singapore dollars.
Cheers,
Jeremy
Well, not sure exactly what happened, but somehow the LCD screen of my phone cracked today and stopped working. It couldn't have been from an impact, as the front glass is still intact, the digitizer still works, and I don't remember any major impacts the phone had in the hour it was in my pocket before I noticed it wasn't working.
In any case, I just had a few questions:
1) Are all the screens for the GSM/CDMA versions of the Touch the same? I've found some listings on ebay for Dopod S1, XV6900, P3450, and other screens. Will any of these work?
2) If it's an extra $2 for an ebay auction with a digitizer and a screen, should I just buy that instead for the backup digitizer?
3) Does anyone have a spare Touch lying around with a working screen, or even just the screen itself. I'd rather not wait 3 weeks for it to arrive from China.
4) Is there any way to get the ESN off the phone using ADB or anything so I could clone it onto a spare phone I have in the meantime?
Thanks!

1. There are various models of the Vogue and Elf. The drivers are different between some of them and wouldn't work, so you have to make sure that you are getting the correct one.
2. Might as well
3. I do, but referring back to Q1, what version of the Vogue do you have (Bell, Verizon, Sprint, etc)? The one that I have is a Verizon Vogue with a broken power button. The thing works and needs the power button to be soldered back to the main board and a new case since the power button (the plastic part on the body) is broken. If you can get me $10 + shipping I will gladly let it go.
4. Yes there is, but discussion of this topic is not allowed on XDA as it is an illegal practice in most countries.
Hope this helps.

It's a Bell unit. In my huge amount of reading this morning I read something about how the android kernel's autodetect the screen in use and use the correct driver? If your unit would work I'd def want it!
