How would this work? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know a lot of people are having screen tacking issues, but how would those be handled? Could I send it in to Asus to get it repaired, for a cost? Or would I have to send it to someone else

You have a 1 year warranty.
Anything goes wrong and they must fix it for free, assuming the fault is a result of a design error, or manufactoring defect.
Damage inflicted to the device by the user cannot be warrantied, and is up to the user to repair or replace.
In the case of screen lifting, your warranty will cover it.
As for the warranty procedure, im unsure sorry.

Okay. So will I be able to send it in to repair if it was user error?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

If I paid money. Thanks
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

Im not sure if they're doing paid repairs at the moment, sorry.
If the screen broke you may be able to say it was as a result of the display lifting though.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk 2

Okay thanks. The only concern I have is that thy may be able to say that it is my fault because I messed with the screws trying to fix if

I think unless its just absolutely obviously that you opened the device they will JUST CHECK THE SCREEN then send you a replacement. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE with this tablet..
if you got it from the play store its best to call google and get a rma for it . Do not ask questions do not give information other then screen is lifting up on left side.. NOw if you opened it and broke something else or striped out screw holes. well now then that would be on YOU..
Good Luck

Thanks. Thanks

Why would u fix the screen of a "bricked" n7? Unless it still fully functions?
Sent from my LazyPanda, Rooted, White "Destroy Mode" Evo
Excuse me, by bricked i meant it is completely unusable. The screen is broken. I can see everything when i wake it up, but no touch responsiveness at all, it is essentially a fancy looking brick. It can be fixed, just needs a new screen.

Haha ok I get what u mean. Here's the only Site that I know of that offers replacement screens, they are however in "used" condition and will run u about $130.

According to some n7 owner experiences sending into Asus to fix it could cost anywhere from 75-150 including parts replacement, and labor fees. It might be in ur best interest to just buy a new one

It's a shame i know exactly what's wrong with it. I doubt I'd get away for less than 150 for an entire screen replacement. I could buy a whole new one, they're just so darn sweet. I've adopted a new way of life with this thing. My home built pc is getting jealous over this thing.

Oh and by the way, it says that product isn't available yet. Manufacturers haven't released the parts yet.

Yeah I know what ur talking about. It's a very awesome device.
My bad on that, didn't see that they did not have replacement parts available yet. Probably with in a month or so

It's all good. Maybe I'll part my broken n7 out on eBay to pay for a new one

Sudden screen creak?

Hey, has anyone else had a problem where, after weeks of a seemingly flawless n7, it starts to creak ? For me its when I put a bit of pressure on the right side of the screen and release.. its barely concerning, and after 3 rmas already I'm not sure if they'd let me do another, but do you think I should try? I definitely do not feel like opening up and fixing it by adjusting screws.. but A what if I get a defective one and B what if after so many Google says no :S thoughts ?

Replacement Nexus 4?

So, guys, I have had my nexus 4 since January now, and days after I got it, it had a squeaky bezel (I think that's the correct word) and the speakers raddled. I have popped a case on it, and since tried to forget about it. Unfortunately, to this day I can't get over it. If I contacted google, would they let me return the device, and get a replacement? It does have a few small scratches, but nothing that would have caused any issues.
I think January is way out of your return period. You could give them a call but pretty sure they'd say no.

It does say there's 12 months of warranty doesn't it?

[Q] My dad's nexus 4 screen broke, need help

Today my dad's nexus fell face down on ceramic and the screen broke, the screen turns on fine but from about the bottom half of the screen doesn't work.
The phone is rooted but he bought it in July so its still on warranty
Should I send it to Google for fixing in my coming trip to USA or should I buy a replacement and fix it myself?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I don't think Google will fix it under warranty. You will probably have to pay.

I don't think the warranty covers physical damage. You'll be better off getting a new screen from ebay and replacing it yourself.

Warranty with US LG

Hello.
I'm having issues with my knock on not working. After researching some on the forum, I realized it was because I have a dead spot near the top of my screen. Today, my phone was doing some phantom touches.
Immediately, I initiated an RMA. I read that LG repair has a really negative review. Has anyone else sent in their phones for warranty repair?
Also: phone has never been dropped or scraped, and is in perfect condition otherwise.

I'm pretty surprised to know that no one has done an RMA with LG.

If anyone cares, I've sent in my phone, and it has been received by LG in Fort Worth.

Let me know how it goes.
Today is the fifth day since they have received my phone. I called to get an update, and was told that the technician is still working on it, but has not provided any updates. I was advised that they have a five to seven business day turnaround. I think they may be missing that turnaround time at this point.
Will update when they provide any info. At this point, they are still unsure whether warranty will cover my screen issues (dead spot, phantom touches, knock on is dead). Stock phone, nothing modified.

LG tracking shows that unit is being sent back to me.
I'm not quite sure if the phone is going to be in working order yet.
Wish me luck, because I have read a lot of reviews saying that the phones were never actually repaired m

Let us know whether they fixed it or not.
Finally received my phone today, on a Saturday with FedEx Home Delivery service.
Took the phone out of the box it came out, and immediately noticed additional IMEI stickers on the back of the device. The device came very dirty on the back, with stickers around the case. I thought they had sent me a refurb, especially when the scratches that I had on the main screen were not there.
I matched the IMEI with the one that came with the original box, and it seems to match.
They replaced the proximity sensor and 'updated software'. I still don't have knock code, however.
Customer service has been horrible, especially since they have absolutely no contact with the service people. CS knew absolutely nothing about the repairs.
Edit: Functions of the phone have returned to normal.
I developed the same issues with mine a couple days ago. Always in a case, never dropped. Dead spots near the top, no knock on. Gonna try to get it replaced by ATT first, otherwise will have to do rma through LG.
Basically, that whole bar is a dead spot.

My phone has exact same issue. Same location as you have shown. I should be getting another unit from T-Mobile today. Any idea if this a software issue or hardware?

There is another thread about this issue, which basically said it's heat that caused the sensor to break.
