Hello.
I'm having issues with my knock on not working. After researching some on the forum, I realized it was because I have a dead spot near the top of my screen. Today, my phone was doing some phantom touches.
Immediately, I initiated an RMA. I read that LG repair has a really negative review. Has anyone else sent in their phones for warranty repair?
Also: phone has never been dropped or scraped, and is in perfect condition otherwise.

I'm pretty surprised to know that no one has done an RMA with LG.

If anyone cares, I've sent in my phone, and it has been received by LG in Fort Worth.

Let me know how it goes.
Today is the fifth day since they have received my phone. I called to get an update, and was told that the technician is still working on it, but has not provided any updates. I was advised that they have a five to seven business day turnaround. I think they may be missing that turnaround time at this point.
Will update when they provide any info. At this point, they are still unsure whether warranty will cover my screen issues (dead spot, phantom touches, knock on is dead). Stock phone, nothing modified.

LG tracking shows that unit is being sent back to me.
I'm not quite sure if the phone is going to be in working order yet.
Wish me luck, because I have read a lot of reviews saying that the phones were never actually repaired m

Let us know whether they fixed it or not.
Finally received my phone today, on a Saturday with FedEx Home Delivery service.
Took the phone out of the box it came out, and immediately noticed additional IMEI stickers on the back of the device. The device came very dirty on the back, with stickers around the case. I thought they had sent me a refurb, especially when the scratches that I had on the main screen were not there.
I matched the IMEI with the one that came with the original box, and it seems to match.
They replaced the proximity sensor and 'updated software'. I still don't have knock code, however.
Customer service has been horrible, especially since they have absolutely no contact with the service people. CS knew absolutely nothing about the repairs.
Edit: Functions of the phone have returned to normal.
I developed the same issues with mine a couple days ago. Always in a case, never dropped. Dead spots near the top, no knock on. Gonna try to get it replaced by ATT first, otherwise will have to do rma through LG.
Basically, that whole bar is a dead spot.

My phone has exact same issue. Same location as you have shown. I should be getting another unit from T-Mobile today. Any idea if this a software issue or hardware?

There is another thread about this issue, which basically said it's heat that caused the sensor to break.

This will be my 6th nexus to date (had it since June/July~), either due to touchscreen issues, speed i/o/lag problems, or screen lift.
Is it possible to just ask for a refund/return? I would have no qualms buying this device at a later date (in a month or two), or another nexus tablet should they make one, but the 16 GB tablets, seem to just have problem after problem every time I get one, screen lift when I unpack the device upon arrival at my door step, or in the case of the touch screen issue, a couple days after having it (sucks too because that device didn't have any other noticeable issues).
Just curious if anyone has managed, before I call them back and ask for another RMA.
hi i call google after a month when i bought the nexus and his completely refused to replace my nexus 7 and google told me that cant give me the reason, i have the touchscreen problem on the right side only update to 4.1.2 and then see if you still have the problem, my touchscreen now is working fine

I did it after about a month, maybe the person who worked with me was clueless but I got a replacement after about a month.

Yep. Ordered 7/10 got it today 7/12. Opened it. Plugged it in. Nothing. Did the steps that googled emailed me. Nothing. Screen just flickers when trying to turn it on. Awesome. Don't you love when you pay for something, it comes and doesn't work at all??? Guess it has to happen to somebody! So at least I won that... Will update on how long Google takes to send another one.

Many people have the same manufacturing issue... It just didn't usually kick in this early.
There's two things this could be... Assuming you haven't already sent it in.
If the screen is kind of like an antrace and noisy, then it has zero charge and needs desperately, a few hours electricity.
If it only flashes like you say. There is a common issue with nexus 7 issue where the cable hooking the battery to the device becomes detached.
The easy fix I would do in your position would be to slip it open and reconnect the cord, as it is in the front. The case is also very easy to get off with a flathead screwdriver, or from dropping it... Not the best design. I did alot of research when mine was bootlooped and very certain that is your problem. Hope this helps if you didn't send it in xD
Don't mess with it....send it in. Better to wait and start with a fully functional device, not one you had to fix to make work!!

Amen to that! My level of fixing tablets and phones is pretty high. Just got done replacing my Nexus 4 screen. Anyways, point I'm trying to make is... Open box and DOA? I don't think so. Already have the RMA process started. Hopefully this one will work. Should get it on Wednesday.
Crappy part is, this was a birthday gift that came in just in time. Too bad it doesn't work!

I guess I was lucky my only came with the loose screen. It has play in it when you tap the screen.

Is anyone having issues with the LG G2 touch screen.
The things I'm noticing is
guesture typing it loses it's trail and begins a new word. So if I'm trying to spell "Think," it'll get the "TH" then space it out and get some other string of letters etc.
Web Browsing; it'll click a link I'm not trying to
Zooming in on photos and scrolling while it's zoomed it'll sparatically zoom out or move to the next pic
There's several other things that I can't seem to get to replicate! Anyway with my research here's what I came up with.
My issue is much like this but far less easy to replicate!!! And not nearly as bad. How ever I was able to do it when my phone started having symptoms I pulled up the note pad and it did exactly like this just way less significant.

Here's another forum with people going through issues!
I'll take that as a no
I was having issues like that with gesture typing on both swift and stock keyboards. Basically it would just add all kinds of random entries. In another thread someone suggested using a microfiber cloth on the screen. It seems to be working now.

Just noticed that mine does the same thing... But it's not consistent, only happens once in a while. After I reboot it's fine. Really weird.
I posted earlier, looks like it didn't make it up. I had same issue, I tried flashing back to stock, assuming I had done something with rooting it, tried making sure that it was not an issue with ram bring to low, nothing fixed it. Took phone back to att, replaced it, havent had the issue once since then. I'm rooted, flashed and modded work no I'll effects. If you are within your return period, I would suggest that you return.

I got t-mobile version and doesn't do that

Well I have seen some quality control issues with these phones for sure... I'm still on stock and not rooted and mine does this. Going to have to go by the Verizon store Monday and get a new one.

I made a video to help illustrate what's going on!
Well I got a replacement phone and the problem is still happening. So I went into the shed grabbed my old Cyanogenmod MyTouch 3G and I plan to use that until the Nexus 5 comes out. Hopefully I'll get a launch unit.
Just holding this little phone makes me feel all nostalgic lol. I bought it in 2009 and it still holds a decent charge.

Are you just going to wait until the nexus 5 comes out and then take your g2 back, tell them that this is the second one that has done this, and demand they replace it with the "newer g2" ie Nexus 5? I thought about this!
I'm hoping this is a software issue..mine is really annoying
So all of a sudden tonight my knock on feature stopped working. Then I noticed that I have a dead spot on my screen as you can tell from the photo attachment. I have no warranty so sending it in to LG isn't an option. I've did some reading and can't seem to find if this is a software or hardware issue? Can anyone shed some light here? It's a D803 variant. Should I replace the digitizer or not? I need a working phone asap as I'm driving across the country next week.
Thanks

Had this problem as well along with many others. I do believe it is a hardware issue. As far as your method of repair, I'm not sure. I got mine replaced under warranty.

I appreciate your feedback. Went to my local repair shop today and they are gonna replace my LCD and digitizer for me on Monday. $100 charge to do it. I'm fine with that I need a working phone especially since I'm about to drive across the country. Here's to hoping.

So my phone has a loose USB port and I want to RMA it because I keep losing my android auto connection because of it. So now the question is if I RMA my phone with a few drops and a cracked screen will I be charged for it? Then if that's the case then would i just be better off replacing my phone through the Nexus plan I bought? Just wondering your guys take from your experiences. Thanks!

They are probably going to say that the drops caused the loose connection.

1. I had a 6P replaced on RMA because the auto rotate was sticking, but it was in pristine condition.
2. If you have a cracked screen due to a few drops, yes they will say it could have caused the loose connection, and you can't say it didn't.

I wouldn't say that's petty at all. It's entirely likely that you dropping the phone numerous times has actually caused the fault you're talking about.

I guess having wear because my phone is constantly connected to my car for Android auto wouldn't cause this issue either huh? It's not in horrible condition just a few scuff marks on the corners of the phone and a crack screen. It's whatever though I'll just return the reconditioned phone if that's how they want to be.

I'm not saying it's definitely what caused it, it's more likely to have caused it than plugging/unplugging or being connected though, which makes a warranty refusal justified.
