Nexus 7 TV Out?
I'm considering a purchase but like the idea of watching my movies on a hotels TV screen.
So is TV out possible with the Nexus 7 either with an RCA composite output via the 3.5mm headphone socket
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-5M-Long-...#ht_1981wt_689
Or
Using something like this micro-USB to HDMI type connector?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-USB-...#ht_4714wt_922
I was wondering this too,but couldn't findthe answer. with a mod ROM, special software and adapter, will it ever be possible to get any video out of the device?
Nexus 7 16gb, unlocked, rooted, stick drive, trinity 7 kernel, stock OS.
theres no hdmi or any physical way to connect it to the tv yet. The best bet by the looks of it is by using a miracast dongle (which by the way, dont quite exist yet....) its basically another standard similar to DLNA, take a look here:

Another possibility coming out soon is ESRLabs Android Transporter using the Raspberry Pi. My Raspberry will be here today, been wanting one to play with for a long time. Not ETA for the Transporter but hopefully soon.
My RP arrived today!

That thing is cool.
I've been using Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) to beam my laptop incl. protected blue ray HD movies to my HD TV via belkins wireless adapter.
I wanted something like that for my N7.
I just emailed ETA about it and am awaiting their reply.

Most likely not going to get a direct reply from ESR. The email address they have posted gets you on their Mailing List so when they have something to say they will post via that and their website. Can't imagine how many people are pinging them daily about their project.
I can't wait until they release something. Even at 150ms latency, for what I want to use it for it won't matter (not much of a gaming guy). Latency will have no effect on images, watching videos (netflix, google etc..) on the big screen which is where it will end up.
Another option is the HTC MediaLink.

Cool. figured they would be inundated.
I setup my RPi this weekend. have it now running headless with a WiFi dongle. Have it setup to work with both a DVI monitor and the big screen via HDMI.
Just streamed a full 1080p movie to the Big Screen from it, though the video was on the RPi not from another source. Output was flawless.
Can't wait to see their software and start doing the same from the Nexus 7.
I dont understand google.
They want to sell movies, but you cant connect it directly to a TFT / TV via HDMI or similiar to watch it on your big screen.
What went wrong there ?

I received my raspberry pi two weeks ago and LOVE it now that I have it running OpenELEC. Unfortunately I ordered from two different companies since the turnaround time sucked and just received the second one. Allied is super hard to get ahold of for refunds so I guess I'm just going to use the second one for the living room as soon as this gets released so I can stream Netflix.

An USB-storage works with a GTO-adapter and the app Nexus Media Importer.
So for HDMI could there in future maybe also be an app to enable some kind of USB to HDMI-Adapter ?
"As of today, the company says that the shipping build of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean doesn't support the Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) which would allow it to double as an HDMI port, nor advanced USB On-The-Go (OTG) functionality."
http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/29/3127278/nexus-7-mhl-usb-otg
Aww, looks like no mhl here. The point is that it wud have likely Increased the price. And the whole idea of "Google play" is that you don't HAvE to connect ur Tablet to TV, since all. Movies u bot or rented are available from any device on Google play site. My TV at home is internet enabled like a lot of TV s nowadays, so its easy. Also the reason they didn't bother with the storage ... its all supposed to be "web content viewer" type thing. The problem is WiFi or internet is not as common. Outside of some countries like the us or so.
Very good points.
Playing games wireless on the big screen isn't supported yet, is it?
Here in Europe lot of people don't trust the clouds, as they don't know where their data is stored and therefor by which laws it is protected.
As to me and new TV's including wifi streaming:
I try to buy devices to last very long because of the embodied energy a device needs to get produced.
So until a new device doesn't saves more energy then the old cost, or it stops working, it will be used.
(Most devices need more energy to get produced then they consume in their short living time, not to talk about the toxic byproducts... )
I have also a Mediaplayer with wifi, but it is still more complicated to switch it on and switch to streaming instead of plugging the cord of the TV to the Tablet.
Of course to be wireless is/would be a nice thing, but eg. I wouldnt like to sleep next to the wifi router...

I figured since there is finally a place to post this, I will do so here. There is currently ongoing development for the Motorola MotoACTV smart watch. It began simply as a fitness watch, but has evolved with root, recovery, and roms into the best android watch available.
AND IT CAME OUT IN NOVEMBER OF 2011.
Interesting, yes? Let me get you some details from our current wiki (http://motoactv.wikispaces.com/home, started from the members right here on xda):
Code:
Hardware Specs:
Processor: 600MHz OMAP3 (3630) ARMv7 CPU supporting ARM architecture:
- thumb, vfp, vfpv3, edsp & neon. (overclockable to 1Ghz currently)
256MB of RAM and 8GB of NAND Flash Memory (Or 16 GB)
Wifi 802.11B/G/N
Bluetooth 4.0 (low-power mode)
ANT+ for connectivity to fitness sensors (heart rate, etc.)
FM Tuner (with Radio Data System for station & song identification)
PowerVR GPU
1.6" 220x176 capacitive multitouch LCD display
5 hardware buttons on the side:
- (Start, Music, Volume +, Volume -, Standby/Power)
1 additional capacitive button on the front for 'back button'.
Ambient light sensor
White charging and notification LEDs
Accelerometer
GPS
So now that you're intrigued, let me give you some resources to get you started!

IF YOU DIDN'T LISTEN AND ARE NOW "LOW BATTERY" AND CANNOT FLASH:
First thing's first. It will probably still charge on the wall charger or a car charger. Try that first. But, if it won't...
(or if you're just an avid flasher,) I'd also recommend you get one of these to help you out of jams: Motorola Factory Cable. The one at that link from Team Black Hat is typically out of stock, but a search of the words "Motorola Factory Fastboot Cable" on eBay can get you one for between $5-8. This cable does not charge your unit and does not come with the MotoACTV.
Any questions? Please post below. And GET YOUR ACTV ON!

Update: just checked, they're going for $50-200 on ebay, lots are on there for sale.
Also, I will be updating the first post of this thread with any info/links that you guys need. We would love for more development of this device, since we've been doing it for months/years now.
Wow this seems great! Youtube and a browser. I recently bought myself the Sony Smart Watch, and I was not too impressed with the battery life time, how is this ones?
I also managed to ruin my SmartWatch, but I'm gonna get it refunded from the store I'll probably get this from eBay! Is there any bugs/problems I should know about from the Motorola watch?
I get mine tomorrow, and my only concern/question is how well this handles Bluetooth tethering. I use FoxFi and PDAnet with phone and tablet and i'm hoping I can use the same with the motoactv.

Not really. Battery life for me is around a week, sometimes more if I turn it off at night. I don't leave bluetooth or wifi on unless I need them though, and keep the brightness around half. I also turned off the shake-to-wake feature, as my watch was turning on when I was just walking around and using up battery life with the screen on lol.
But, for such a tiny battery, a week is pretty good in my opinion. Either way, you can just charge it every night if you're a heavy user. Keep in mind, this isn't like those other "smart watches" that only issue notifications, this is a full blown android device.

I know Nook Tether works on it for bluetooth tethering (internet pass through) I believe, but I'm not sure about the others. I've heard of PDAnet also, it might have been another that worked. I don't tether mine though, so I'm not sure.
The only thing I want different is the watch strap, and an XDA user is actually working on a better one right now. I can't wait!

I'm leading an auction on eBay at the moment. The "Buy Now" alternatives is too expensive with shipping to Norway :/
A week battery time sounds good to me I had to charge my SmartWatch every day, and that wasn't a problem.
How's the Firefox browser and YouTube app working on the watch?

Is there a way to keep the display on to use as a watch, without pushing a button? How much space does the OS use? Is Ebay prefer over Amazon for purchase?

It has shake to wake, where you shake your wrist and the display turns on. The os doesn't use much, maybe 200mb or something. I've got the 8 gig version and have plenty of space, even with roms. However, the space for installing apps is limited for the time being. I'm not sure, but there might be a way to partition the space on the device to get more app space.

I was unaware of the shake to awaken. I will go for the 8 Gb unit when I get the funds. More reading needs to be done to see which ROM may be the best for me. How hard is it for someone to generate a customized ROM without extensive training?

Cool! Let us know what you think! Of course, the one you see won't be rooted or have a regular android launcher on it yet.
I have decided to buy one, preferably at less than ~$250. I would prefer new versus used since they are discontinued and i am uncertain about warrantee. Maybe i can afford to order one next week. No doubt I will have questions, if rooting does not go smoothly.

I am also very intrested in this device. I have now a MK802 III and one MK808 and mabey it´s just me but i dont think movies are as fluently as i want. However i don´t hear much complaint about this so i start to wonder why it´s only me that think that something is wrong. My reference is a wdtv live gen 3, movies are much more smoother than on my android sticks.
Mabey samsung-exynos cpu is better in this? I am very curios and want to now if this will work better.
About wirless it must work, i have tried android 4.2.2 on my stick and it works with mouse/keyboard just fine. Would love a review on this box, i have already preorded a Minix Neo X7 but i dont think it gonna solve my problem with fluently.
I hope you buy this and give us a review. Found it abit cheaper at geekbuying.

No! If form factor is not of big importance (and I hate big boxes under my TV set) I would recommend Cozyswan S400 Android 4.2.2. You just plug it in the rear HDMI and forget you have something attached to your TV. Today it is the most advanced gadget among mini-pcs. It is the only one in TV-stick form factor to have industrial detachable antenna instead of fixed pseudo antennas. I was looking for such device for months and finally I got it yesterday. Spent 5 minutes to root it and tried it in AnTuTu 4. The result was 17233 points!!! Just consider, it has 1333 MHz DDR 3 memory, supports Miracast and DLNA. Although its firmware still carries a 720p kernel, this gadget is the most powerful TV-stick we have around so far.

Will take a look at that now.
Many rockchip RK3188 devices support miracast, for eample the cx-919
http://blog.laptopmag.com/miracast-android-mini-pc
Most of them are more or less the same inside.
The only differences are the antennae, heatsink implementation, sometimes you get an additional usb port.
In the end you need to choose a device with enough community support or you will be stuck with the default firmware.
The X7 is bigger but includes a RTC battery and is built like a HTPC with lots of ports.

Well, you are quite right! There is nothing to argue about and it's obvious that the bigger the device the more extras it has. So, finally one might end up with a huge system block like desktop. The most attractive feature of the above devices is utter minimization, all other main specs being retained. I have three such TV-sticks: Kimdecent B13 with externat antenna and RK3066, QC802-RK3188 and of course Cozyswan S400 which at nearly the same internal design is head and shoulders above the previous ones. As to manufacturer and community support, it's not so difficult for a knowledgeable person to port a firmware to a similar device.
Stability and Lan performance used as a Server
Hello. Ive been following a few threads on here and was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with LAN speeds on these guys. I could care less about the wifi as i plan on using it to replace my power hungry core2quad server. I figure for my uses, something with an RK3188 at 1.6 paired with 2Gb ram should perform well for what I need.
Ill be running an SSH server, web server, DynDNS updater, Torrent, VNC, Maybe personal FTP - SMB Access, DLNA , and hopefully VPN when its available. Ive already gotten most things working using my Tegra2 Acer A500 so I know its possible. Servers Ultimate Pro is a pretty decent set of server tools. Primarily though it will be my personal web host along with SSH access from home as I use SSH with a port redirect to create proxies while at work. Network bandwidth is a crucial concern.
My issue on the Acer is the network speed ( And lags torrenting ) . It struggles keeping up with everything. I debated on a Lan to USB adapter, but I dont plan on actually using it for this purpose. My 4 year old wasn't behaving so I grounded him from it..... Testing things in the meantime
Ive looked at some of the RK3188 devices, as well as the Mele A1000G which has the allwinner A31 CPU paired with a SATA cradle on top ( A BIG plus as its supposedly a native Sata card and not a USB to Sata type ). I asked in another forum about the CX-921 RK3188 device and he said his Lan speeds were only 6-7 Mbps....... Definitely not acceptable for my purposes.
Does anyone have any thoughts, opinions, recommendations, or first hand knowledge?
As you can see by my history here, I am not a novice...... been around a while. Hopefully you dont see this thread as a " Noob " looking for what to buy lol.

Why don't you get tomato/ddwrt based router for all this ?
Personally I'm using Belkin f7d7301 router with shibby tomato firmware on it and it can do most of your mentioned task with ease. It costs less than $20 bucks if you are in the US.
I've been looking for a Windows Tablet to replace my Kindle Fire HD. This may be it. (Almost exactly the same size and weight.) The Lenovo Miix 2 is another possibility, but its not out yet. I'm getting the 64gb version which isn't set to ship until Nov 1, so if anyone gets a 32 GB version in the next week - let us know what you think!

Thats a slight disappointment but on a $299 device you really can't complain, excellent that one is supported in the first place.
Does this tablet or any of the other 8" Windows 8.1 tablets have USB host using an OTG adapter with the microUSB port.

I've heard that it does, not having one I cant confirm.
Every x86 Windows box I know of acts as a USB host. The more pertinent question is whether these 8" can supply 0.5A, or more likely, 0.1A. The hope is that there's enough juice to power your USB key, but I really doubt a 2.5" USB HDD is gonna work. Of course you can always add external power.
BTW, here's a nifty gadget peeps may want to pick up for USB charging

Hmm, kinda cool. I just have a few hacked up USB cables instead though.
You can always use a Y splitter cable or mains powered hub to provide external power to your device. Y splitter cable plus one of those portable USB power supplies for charging phones from may work nicely.
For anyone to look through...here's the link for the Dell Venue Pro 8 User Manual.
Very enlightening!
Noted the one comment in there that the microUSB does not connect to a computer??? Odd.

Not at all. Windows 8 and RT do not support acting as a USB device like android and iOS do. So you cannot connect them with a micro USB to the computer. No windows 8 or RT tablet so far has supported this feature. They have all so far supported USB host so you can always use a memory stick, most likely the venue does support it too, no reason not to (not even cost, seriously).

I ordered one too. I definitely have a gadget addiction. This is my 4th windows tablet. I have the Ativ 500 t, the Lenono 10in, and the Acer 8in. I have been looking for the right fit for work and 8in seems to be the right size. The Acer was better than the reviews but I really want a pen with OneNote. Had the Wacom solution with both the Samsung and Lenovo and hope the Dell version is as good as the SPen

Since you have experience with a stylus and windows 8 together what have you found works best for document editing? Do you prefer to print to one note and then mark it up? I really liked the Note 10.1's system that's basically takes a screen shot and lets you draw on it but the price/performance is not there so I ordered the venue pro 8 instead.
Well I also have the Note 10.1 too but don't use it for work so I am not doing any editing of documents
I use the pen in windows to take hand written notes in OneNote and to markup documents. The biggest value is OneNote and the integration into Outlook, office and Windows Explorer.
Hopefully this is the perfect device for me to take in and out of meetings, tie meeting notes through Outlook and One Note. I think this size will be perfect since it is lighter and smaller than the Acer. My only concern is the pen writing experience.

Or you could run it in Virtualbox, but yeah, that might be cool tool.
I was surprised to see that the digitizer in this is pressure sensitive and it's made by Synaptics, not Wacom, like on the Galaxy Note series.
I only wish the resolution was a tad better, but that's what the Dell Venue 11 pro is for, I guess.
The price point is very nice for both though, might have to pick up my first Win8 device, although I was planning on skipping the whole OS.

I should perhaps put down my phone while responding to XDA and turn away from XDA when responding to phone
I own both of these devices with the Nexus 7 being the newer model. Now that I have the Nexus 6 I'm not certain that I need my Nexus 7 any more.
The Nexus 6 does have a better screen and not to mention the sound is better too with those dual front speakers. There is an obvious difference in total size but the screen size difference is not extreme.
I'm thinking of selling my Nexus 7.

I rarely used my Nexus 7 when I had my Nexus 5. I stopped using it entirely when I bought the OnePlus One. And since going to the Nexus 6, the Nexus 7 remains in my nightstand. I have no use for it anymore.
However, I'm refraining from selling it because I'm still seriously considering performing the required steps to replace my car stereo with it like this guy did:

could somebody be nice enough to post some side by side pictures of both devices, i came to a crossroad on weather to get a nexus 7 2013 even though its "old" or a nexus 6 despite it being smaller by 1" and costing about 4 times the amount in the uk. i went with the nexus 6 but i havent seen any side by side pictures of them

haha, that's my buddy's STi... i've followed his install on it and got to see how it performs in person. perfect use of it if you ask me.
My nexus 7 is basically a chromecast device now. My phone is router/internet connection. You cant cast from the internet source device sadly. the Nexus 7 also makes a nice ebook reader so there is that. Nexus 6 is king right now.
Id sell the nexus 7 for a 9 if i could get any decent amount of money.
Casting and gaming is what I use the Nexus 7 for. I still keep it because when traveling the Nexus 6 doesn't have video out to connect to TVs in hotel rooms. Using it for these tasks also prolongs my phones battery
I have a 2013 model Nexus 7 and a Nexus 6, and I still use both. I like to read and watch YouTube videos in bed at night, and I tend to switch between the two. I think the deciding factor is that I prefer reading on the Nexus 7 since the screen is a little bit bigger, so if I'm planning on doing any of that I'll use the tablet. If I'm just going to be watching YouTube, I'll usually go with the Nexus 6 as some of the channels I subscribe to do shoot at a higher resolution than 1080p, and I can take advantage of that with the 6.

Nice! The only thing holding me back is the fab work he did. No way I'll get it as perfect as he was able to. I'm still surprised someone doesn't make a molded bezel and install kit for this for our cars yet. Especially with how many people on NASIOC openly said they'd be willing to pay for it. I know I'd happily pay a few hundred bucks for a kit that allowed me to mount it all right up.

i think the biggest problem is getting a 3d printer large enough to create a bezel for a 7" tablet/dash integration. small 3d printers are relatively cheap now, but larger ones are still a LOT of money.

I can see going with the 6 exclusively. I use the 7, but I don't feel like I need to. I used the Droid Turbo for a week. It was big improvement after my 4.7 Maxx HD. But there was no way I'd use it instead of my tablet.
Pretty much as soon as I got the 6 set up I was comfortable using it instead of the tablet. I don't feel any app seems smaller than I need, and it's more comfortable to hold on top of that. I certainly like the 7 for the larger screen, don't get me wrong, but the 6 functions so well I don't feel like I'm giving much up when I use it.
Because of the battery issues, the 7 will be my go to when traveling. And it won't sit in a drawer because it's a great device. But if I had gotten the 6 last xmas, and someone gave me the 7 this month, I wouldn't be anywhere near as excited as when the 7 joined my Maxx last year.

Hmm. I have a Nexus 6 pending shipping, and currently use a Galaxy S3. When traveling I use an HDMI MHL adapter to connect to hotel TVs for Netflix, Hulu, Simple.tv, Plex, etc.
I guess I haven't investigated that aspect of the N6. Does it not have any type of video out? No MHL or screen mirroring via HDMI option?

Dang. The problem with using Chromecast (which I tried before buying the Samsung special one-off MHL adapter) is twofold. 1) Hotels don't typically allow devices on the same wireless network to talk to each other. This helps protect guests from each other, but also prevents the same user of two devices (phone and chromecast) allowing those two devices working together. 2) I could not get my GS3 to run the hotspot and communicate to devices like the chromecast at the same time. Likely a routing problem in the Android hotspot or something. I could activate the phones hotspot and connect the chromecast to it, but could not cast to it from my phone. I could cast from a laptop through the phones hotspot to the chromecast but that wasn't what I wanted to do. I could probably turn the laptop into an Access Point and then connect both the phone and the chromecast to that and then cast form the phone to the Chromecast, but again that involves a third device. I want to just use my phone and the chromecast stick, or MHL, or SlimPort adapter, and be done.
Grrrr....

I, Like most of you are probably watchign coverage of CES 2015 and have stumbled across a new Android Powered Device called the Razer Forege TV that sounds very simliar to what the Madcatz Promised with the Mojo. Unlike what the Mojo was i strongely think the Forge TV will deliver.
$99 for the Device
$80 for the Controller
$150 for Device and Controller
$40 for Software to Run Computer games on Forge TV
$120 for Keyboard and Mouse
If this device didnt have google cast and android tv i wouldnt even consider purchasing especially after my experience with the Mojo from Madcatz (another gaming hardware company).

There is no 'working' Android TV ROM on the mojo yet.
working = chromecast receiver works, netflix (Android TV version, aka ninja ) works, etc (everything that is Android TV specific and that work on the Nexus Player for instance)

I have not been able to work on it as I am busy with school. I believe in the next android release 5.0.3 we will see more android tv devices and I will be able to properly get the Google apps since the adt-1 is outdated I need an arm device with android tv and the nexus player is x86. With the razer being released I can get a dump of it and pull the apps I need. The only thing that didn't work for me was the playstore after it updated. Cast receiver does work I may boot it up today and mess with it since I have the adt-1 too.
If we could get something running similar to this on the mojo I'd be a happy happy boy... That being said, with the current custom ROM it's basically all I need bar a few minor tweaks anyways

If you mean a cast receiver app so the mojo can act as a chromecast , afaik you can't.
The official app for this is called 'Google Cast Receiver' it's available on the Play Store here but it's not installed on the mojo.
The source code was release by Google too here: https://code.google.com/p/android-cast-mirrored-source/
Some people tried and managed to get the app working here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/hardware-hacking/chromecast/app-cast-receiver-app-android-t2900726. i tried the 'signed' version on the mojo, it's not working. I then tried the system-install version, the process is running and the mojo is seen as google cast device...but when casting it only displays a big red X (or a version mismatch error for Netflix). According to the topic, this app uses complex DRM security to protect some contents (Netflix for instance) and without the proper certificates (and so official hardware) it doesn't work anymore.
This should be awesome if they do it right? I am kinda bummed its Quailcomm and not NVidia surprised coming from a gaming company they would choose a processor that isn't known for its gaming ability?
Also there is Snail Games OBox coming which is NVidia . Can be upgraded anytime by changing module!
Forge TV
The Razor Forge TV is nothing special. It's just like the MOJO just running android TV. 16gb onboard storage is a joke, and the system will still not be able to run every game. I see no interest in the Razor Forge TV, and I have a hard time understanding why it won the best of CES. It's seriously nothing to be so happy about. I just think this box is a total failure, and has brought nothing special to the living room.

The mojo was $250 with a controller (and a mandatory controller so if you already have BT controllers it was a waste).
ForgeTV will be $150 with a controller (optional controller so only $100 if you already have BT controllers).
The SN 805 beats the Tegra 4 everywhere: http://www.androidauthority.com/tegra-k1-exynos-5433-snap-805-541582
Same RAM and internal storage.
One the 2 USB ports of the Mojo is for the controller dongle. So practically 1 usb port each.
ForgeTV ethernet port is 1Gbps, Mojo port is 100Mbps.
16Go is enough because you can have as many as you want of external storage with an USB OTG storage (sd/stick,sdd, hd,etc).
According to the a XDA Nexus Player forum topic that external storage can also be used for apps (using some mounting apps).
I fail to see where the mojo is better. really. even more that Mad Catz practically abandoned it.
and so far "Android TV port near fully functional" is a one man job (you) and not guaranteed.

You big tease lol
Having been at CES and having got hands on time on the Forge TV here is my take. I think that Razer should have added a second USB port and SD storage. In my opinion these 2 things will be a disadvantage. They did, however, bring some welcome improvements over the MOJO in the full Gigabit Ethernet and the entire UI. There is no doubt that the Forge TV is much more a consumer friendly product. However, from what I could tell from talking to folks at CES this is not going to be able to be easily rooted nor allow custom backup options. I could be wrong and just talked to the wrong folks (this was my first CES). The 2 areas that I thought the Forge really out did the MOJO was in it's ability to Stream almost any game from almost any PC (not just those running NVidea) to the forge. I tried a couple of high end games and they ran flawlessly. This will be huge because you will no longer need to really on 3rd party apps and subscription services such as OnLive to do this.
I was not impressed with the Serval. To me it was just another controller and at an $80 price point found it to be extremely over priced. I also have come to truly appreciate the media buttons on the CONTRLr and find the lack of them on the Serval to be disappointing. This is after all going to function as a remote as well as a controller.
The Turret was just the opposite. I was blown away by it. This is the first laptop keyboard I have used that feels good. It really feels and responds like a gaming keyboard. The mouse having a low level of magnetism so it stays where it is when you let go is fantastic. Only downside I had is that I have large hands and the mouse was on the small side. Along those same lines though, the key spacing was just enough that I did not feel cramped when typing.
In the end will I be buying any of these? I will most definitely be purchasing the Turret. Most likely a couple of them. I will also most likely be picking up a Forge TV down the road as well. As for the Serval, unless Razer rethinks the price point or I can get it at a Black Friday level discount I will be passing on this. It just does not bring anything to the table that any other Bluetooth controller doesn't and at half the price or less.

Did I miss the surprise?
I'm keen to see what MINIX are about to release for their control pad. I'm getting pics in a few days as well as a test unit soon.
From what they've told me it is supposed to make touch games playable so I keep thinking of a PS4 controller type of thing

According to Razer web site (http://www.razerzone.com/cortex/stream), the streaming feature isn't specific to the Forge and will work on any Android 5.0 device.
The end game for Razer with the Forge is more to sell the accessories (Serval and Turret) than the console itself. That is where the high margins are. Peripherals are still their core business after all.
