HI!
I tried to follow the guides here to Root my Desire Z and flash the Andromadus Audacity ROM but without success because i always have an error when making temp Root with psneuter via ADB.
Then i saw the CyanogenMood guide and make it! The downgrade and then the root.
After that i just need to put the rom in the sd card and boot the clockwork recovery to flash the ROM we want.
You can see the Cyanogen guide HERE.
I think it would be better if you posted in the general forums

i just root it with zerRush via adb.
so the cyanogenmod guide works?
I will be rooting the desire z soon, or should I use the method in the xda wiki?
Moving to General, this does not belong in Development.

download cm7 (cyanogen mod 7) or download nexus s...either one will work from the development section. to use gingerbread, you will need clockwork recovery 3. (2 is flashed from rom manager) directions to flash clockwork recovery can be found through a search.
here are the links

You don't NEED a computer to do this, but it GREATLY helps things along.
and YES you must be perma-rooted with s=off.
Ok. Thanks. How long would all this usually take. How do I go about rooting my phone.

yes. to root your phone i suggest following the true permroot guide.
for the need of a computer..it is not required, but is recommended. it would easier to root your phone and flash your recovery with.
the true permroot guide can be found here

You have to downgrade first, use the guide in dev subforum sticky thread. Then use methods in same sticky thread to root.

Surprised you haven't been shot down in flames for asking a question like this here....

It would of been quicker for you to a search and find the answers.
1). You need to downgrade.
2). You need apply ENG S-OFF
3). Apply Radio S-OFF while you have the chance.
4). Upgrade to Gingerbread using the OTA.
5). Root using GingerBreak.
The guides were kindly written by jkoljo, and the ENG & Radio S-OFF tools were also made by jkoljo. Be sure to thank him.

Yes, just follow this guide from the cyanogenmod wiki, it's fairly straight forward and should have you rooted in no time
thanks, and btw after downgrading, rooting and other procedures would i be able to flash any rom? or does this procedure only promt me with cyanogenmod?
im pretty new to this, so making sure i do not screw it.
you can flash any rom, it's just a good easy to follow guide.
Finally got my vega today should i install modded stock before in instal cyanogen or should i just install cyanogen can someone point me in correct direction to tutorials please

Go with the moddedstock as that has clockwork pre built and from there you can flash cyanogen or vegacomb etc using the clockwork recovery.
But first make sure you have the drivers sorted.
For a guide to flashing the moddedstock and driver installation see myadventvega.co.uk. For using clockwork then search xda and you will find multiple threads and replies explaining the steps.
Im cool with clockwrk etc as my hd is rooted. Iv downloaded modded stock and installed drivers from site is there a tut on flashing modded stock?

Is there a toolkit to do all-in-one rooting, etc for the mt4g? I'm not new (new) to this, but I was just wondering if I looked over it?
There's no one click method (unless you're still on froyo I think). Just look in the FAQs, you'll find the procedure to temp root, downgrade and then perm root. It looks complicated, but it's not really.
Please put questions in Q&A

Hello,
I am trying to unlock (s-off?) my desire z with official procedure at htcdev.com site.
Unfortunately I had an ota upgrade to 2.4.405.4 (perhaps bug fixing...)
Obviously OFFICIAL htc software does not recognize 2.4.405.4 version.....
What can I do now?
Thanks,
Mario
don't use official unlock, bad choice you will be so unhappy. look for the xda wiki guide how to root the proper way, or google cyanogen vision root wiki

if you have already unlocked the bootloader using the steps on htcdev.com you need to lock again the bootloader otherwise the xda guide will not work

Ok, but all guides say to backup with titanium backup before rooting. But titanium needs rooted phone to do backups...
How can I backup my phone????
Thanks,
Mario
well there is no need to back anything up but if you really want to, fully read the guide and it will show you how to temp root you phone and then use titanium to back things up. personally I feel this is unnecessary but do as you'd like
