Is there a toolkit to do all-in-one rooting, etc for the mt4g? I'm not new (new) to this, but I was just wondering if I looked over it?
There's no one click method (unless you're still on froyo I think). Just look in the FAQs, you'll find the procedure to temp root, downgrade and then perm root. It looks complicated, but it's not really.

How would I go about getting gingerbread on my new mt4g?

download cm7 (cyanogen mod 7) or download nexus s...either one will work from the development section. to use gingerbread, you will need clockwork recovery 3. (2 is flashed from rom manager) directions to flash clockwork recovery can be found through a search.
here are the links
CM7:

You don't NEED a computer to do this, but it GREATLY helps things along.
and YES you must be perma-rooted with s=off.
Ok. Thanks. How long would all this usually take. How do I go about rooting my phone.

yes. to root your phone i suggest following the true permroot guide.
for the need of a computer..it is not required, but is recommended. it would easier to root your phone and flash your recovery with.

You always need root to flash custom roms
I have the Android version 2.2 Software version 3.7. I was wondering if there is anyone here that has rooted this yet? I have tried unrEVOked and a few other methods to try and root my phone, but its just not happening. If anyone knows how I can fix my problem, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Since you can't figure where to post a question on these forums, I would hold off on rooting before you ruin your phone.

First you need to get temporary root access, follow this link
http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/20/how-to-root-the-t-mobile-g2-htc-vision-visionary-method/
Then follow this link and the instructions on how to get permanent root access.
http://theunlockr.com/2010/11/30/how-to-gain-permanent-root-and-s-off-on-the-t-mobile-g2-htc-vision/
This is how I rooted my G2 when I had it. After, you can follow the tutorials on how to load custom ROMs.
Always remember to do a nandroid backup before flashing anything on your phone.
Thanks to theunlockr.com.
Good luck!

if he has the latest ota, he needs to follow the whole downgrade, root, s-off process in the g2 dev section.
use the built in search on xda to find it.
True, my G2 had Android 2.2 when I rooted; since then it got the gingerbread update.

On an unrelated note, though, I totally used theunlockr to root my phone ;D although gfree was highly recomended shortly afterwards, I never ran into any problems, which I thought was cool xD VIRTUAL HIGH FIVE BRO!
I rooted my G2 by following the cyanogenMod wiki. It's really easy to follow and it worked like a charm. Even my myTouch 4g used the exact same procedure. If you are on gingerbread firmware you will need to downgrade. Guide for that is here and then root the phone with this guide here. From then on you can flash any rom you'd prefer.
I have op 2.3 this hard I don't under stan how to down grade I have down load adb in windows 7 when I put the files on sd and I pull cmd out and put the codes in I get nothing so how do I run adb is the any other way to down grade and get root easy

Hello everyone,
I am very new to rooting but want to root my MT4G to remove bloatware and get some ICS. I read about the HTC bootloader unlock. Will that allow me to get my phone to stock android (remove Tmobile apps and Sense) and will I be able to flash ROMs after?
If there's another way I can do this, please let me know. Thanks!

Check the resource bible. All of the answers you seek can be found there either directly or indirectly. I think it's sticky in development section.

Additionally, there are at least 2 "hello noob" threads in General section, with all the pointers.
HI!
I tried to follow the guides here to Root my Desire Z and flash the Andromadus Audacity ROM but without success because i always have an error when making temp Root with psneuter via ADB.
Then i saw the CyanogenMood guide and make it! The downgrade and then the root.
After that i just need to put the rom in the sd card and boot the clockwork recovery to flash the ROM we want.
You can see the Cyanogen guide HERE.
I think it would be better if you posted in the general forums

i just root it with zerRush via adb.
so the cyanogenmod guide works?
I will be rooting the desire z soon, or should I use the method in the xda wiki?
Moving to General, this does not belong in Development.
