Is it still a good cellphone?
I switched over from a Droid X2 and couldn't be happier. It's completely redone my view on stats. It's snappy and almost zero lag. If you buying off ebay I would recommend it. If your doing your 2 year upgrade I wouldn't.
I switched from a SG2 and Droid Razr and you would have to pry the xPeria Play from my cold dead hands
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
haha thanks I was between the droid razr and this one but I think I will pick this one, up. Just one more question does it have root and an unlocked bootloader?
I unlocked the bootloader via Sony's official method and run doomlords v14 kernel and the stock Rom with root. All very straight forward....

I don't recommend it but if you do, get an r800i. I don't mind anything in the phone other than the low ram when on the ics beta and cm9 roms, maybe the official ics update will fix these problems.
I'd recommend it if you plan on playing games on it. Keeps up with all the newest phones. In fact, I was comparing mine to a stock galaxy nexus today, and the Play was somehow smoother (both on ICS)

ICS beta runs slow because it's a BETA. ICS isn't THAT much of a ram whore.
Try AOKP, runs smoother than a galaxy nexus on stock firmware.
Yes imm planning to game on it but why is the r800i better than the normal one? and about the ram I come from an x8 which has 184mb so 512 RAM is like a dream come true haha

With R800i, you can easily unlock its bootloader using method provided by Sony, this is required to install custom kernel and roms. You can unlock other version too, but you have to send it in to more technical people who knows how to do it.
If you just need root and don't plan to install custom rom, then you can get other version.
Of course I want an unlocked bootloader, flashing roms is for me the fun of android, and probably sony wont update tojellybean so we would need custom ROMS
So I finally decided to buy it, its pretty good but I got the R800a version is it still unlockable?

Although it isn't cracked per se, Koush's Droid X Boostrapper allows for a "hijacked" recovery. That allows running custom roms, nandroid backups, underclocking/overclocking, undervolting/overvolting, etc. just that we cannot use custom kernels as of yet.

Which means you can't get Gingerbread to run on it (for e.g.) as that would require a custom kernel...
P3droid already has a "developers" release of Gingerbread for the Droid X (sans Blur, though that could be added to the release version) from Motorolta. And cvpcs has CM 7 booting on the Droid X, as well.
In short, I think if there's a good phone, expect the devs to tinker until they find a way around things.

This has been proven wrong. The D1 runs GB with a .32 kernel, same as our X.

gingerbread does work on the current kernel but it has taken long to get a working rom. i have a droid x and if u want an ice cream rom thats not happening on the atrix especially since it came with froyo and not gingerbread. u would have to wait until motorola releases it which would be about 10 months. go with the nexus s unless u really need dual core and the 4g speed and the docking features

Not a troll. I paid $670 for the Atrix last week, and I made the wrong decision. Should have gone for the Nexus S.
What use is a Tegra 2 phone that becomes choppy once I put on a live wallpaper, sucks up the battery, heats up when I do anything, and can't play my 720p mkv files without recoding them?
I can't return it because I bought it on ebay. Stupid Bell stores wouldn't sell it off contract.
So yeah, I'm stuck with it.

Hi guys
Im looking to get myself a desire hd. Can anyone please share their experiences and whether I should get one?
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I'd recommend one. But, and a slight but, HTC are very near to releasing the HTC Sensation. If I were in your shoes, I'd wait for that.
Yes it is an excellent phone.. but as the poster above said the HTC Sensation will be released shortly - even if you don't want that phone (I wouldn't know why you wouldn't other than price) wait for it to come out so DHD becomes cheaper
Thats the thing I can get the DHD for 200 bucks offline. I wont be able to afford the sensation. Overall how would you guys rate it out of 10?
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Around 8.3/10
I love my Desire HD.. personally I would rate it 9/10
Great phone.. battery can be a bit of a let down though depending on how you use your phone, but if you root it and install a custom rom you can easily squeeze more juice out of it (currently getting 2 1/2 days with medium use) and it's not so much of a problem.
How easy is it to install a custom rom and how easy is it to brick? sorry for so many questions but I just wanna make sure im making the right choice.

it's very easy to root and install a custom rom.. check out the guides in the Desire HD Android Development section and you'll find all the info you need in the stickys (sorry can't post a link )...
as for bricking it is near impossible.. if you read through the guides before you start and try to understand them, then you will have no problem at all, and if you get stuck ask someone here and I'm sure they'd be able to help you out
Simply a great phone. Rooting and installing ROMs is piss easy, at first all the info may be overwhelming but once you understand what to do and do it you will see its difficulty is more like 2/10.
$200 for a DHD is a steal, well here in NZ anyway.
-Bad things-
720p Video Recording can drop fps when recording in low light conditions
Video Recording sound quality is crap (8kHz, mono)
Screen is a normal TFT type LCD (viewing angle could be better)
WiFi signal can be weak if you have your hand over the antenna which is behind the battery cover and a case
Speaker is average
But despite all those bad things this phone still rocks, I won't be upgrading for a long time.
Thanks guys im going to get it on tuesday hopefully and I cant wait. Do you guys reckon its a good upgrade from the x10i as I love this phone

I've used the X10i too, the DHD is so much smoother and the Sense UI is so much better than Sony Ericssons.
Really happy with my DHD, except for the speaker. I used to listen to music/podcast through the speaker on my previous mobile (while in the kitchen, at work...), and unfortunately DHD is NOT good enough for that purpose. If you are on custom 2.3.3 rom (no official update from HTC yet), then you can slightly help the matter using Volume+. Other then that, just loving my phone.

That is great. You guts are making me even more excited lol. Now just another quick question. Once again I apologise for the amount of queries just like my research before hand. Can someone recommend say the most stable rom available with good battery life? Even though I might just stick to stock and root and optimise it. If obviously there are any optimisations for it such as the ones for the x10. Reason being im scared I will brick the DHD and I heard if you brick any phone its not possible to restore it. Which is what I like about the x10. Ive flashed it so many times.

Cyanogen 7.1 most likely be available when you receive your DHD. And that is a great ROM.
Don't worry about bricking your handset, It's very hard to do unintentionally.

I think this will be exciting to see how the new motoblur looks, they have said that they want to make less phones and more support for phones, and with google behind them and the pressure on from samsung, my eyes and ears are looking to moto to put up a fight. another point is that google is hard on about using the ICS halo theme and google owns moto, maybe the order came from the top, ICS with less blur out faster please.

He isn't rubbing anything in. When I bought my Atrix, I vowed not to do any modding to it in the slightest. Then AT&T pushed updates to their Atrix, yet Bell decided to wait for months on end before pushing the same updates. It became rather annoying having to wait for the updates. Plus, add in the fact that fully-functioning Gingerbread was out months before it would be released on Bell officially, I decided to give modding a shot, and I haven't looked back. Unlocking your phone and flashing custom ROMs just increases the life of your phone, in that you know developers of ROMs (who are not paid by a company to do what they do) will push out stock and custom versions of new Android operating systems, while carriers like Bell will EOL this phone and others and you may not even see ICS come out.

yeah but really if you follow the "noob" guide you should be able unlock the bootloader and get it going. if you follow it and double check your steps it shouldn't be too hard.
the atrix is old now, we've (as a community) gotten it to the point where most operations are one click or little user input. and once you root/unlock/mod the thing there are so many amazing ways to keep you falling back in love with the device. I was so ready to dump it and just use my skyrocket, but I ended up getting rid of the skyrocket and getting the lapdock and using the atrix full time.
I'm going to get the Galaxy Note, but the atrix won't be too far away because it can just do so much

That's weird that some users experience lag with sense. But for me it's been excellent. There have been some cases where people have reported this so you're not the only one. I just find it weird. I have had my HO for a couple of days now and I love it to bits!
So it seems that the boot loader will be unlockable with a simple fast boot oem unlock. But when someone dumps it why would we need to buy it? We can unlock our boot loaders and flash the dump... Unless I'm missing something it seems to be pointless if you own an HTC One now. If I didn't own the one already I think I would go for it though. *discuss*

That's weird that some users experience lag with sense. But for me it's been excellent. There have been some cases where people have reported this so you're not the only one. I just find weird. I have had my HO for a couple of days now and I love it to bits!

I've had my HTC One for over a month and I still love Sense 5--despite thinking that I would wipe it immediately. My last phone started as TouchWiz, which got wiped the 1st day I had it. TouchWiz was horrible for me (battery, performance, stupid "features", etc.). I was planning to use a diff launcher, because I like more rows/columns and fewer screens, but I like this now, and it is so stable. I am running AHRD 9.2 with Sense, for the few extra features. It's been awesome.
After selling another friend on the One vs. S4 last night, I started wondering what the GE version will be like regarding the camera. The stock camera is great for me, and I hope the quality and features of the stock One make to the stock GE version.

That doesn't SIM unlock the phone but after S-Off and rooted that is another thread somethere that can SIM unlock the phone. I just use EBay $3.50 to get my SIM unlock code, no need to needs with the phone.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

Didn't realize all that he was looking for was a SIM-unlock... guess I should have taken my own advice.
It's been said that Ultrapixel and Beats will be in the Nexus One. So we won't lose anything.
I'll gladly day 1 flash it.
going to flash as soon as its available
i don't think it will be available until july though because they need to be shipped

Call me crazy but I don't think they can call it a Nexus One....
Guys, remebr ulttapixel is only hardware related
Htc One got a 12mpx sensor size but with 3x larger pixels, that make the camera capable of 4upx, at the resolution of a 4mpx
Is only a software question if can handlenor not that technology
Cyanogen uses a standalone camera app, adapted for every device.. Definitely not good for the new technology that HTC is using..
And Yes, HTC One GE will support that feature, togheter with boomsound
