[Q] DROID PRO APN using username and pass won't connect - Droid Pro General

Hello all,
I am facing a weird problem. I cannot connect to my carriers APN when using the USER and PASSWORD fields.
If I setup another APN for the same carrier that does not need a USER and PASSWORD specification, it connects fine.
Does anybody know what could be happening?
I am typing the correct USER and PASSWORD because I tested it on another Android device and it works.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

VPN connectivity problem - password?

Hi, I have tried a search on this topic but not found any relevant discussions.
I am using a Qtek 2020 in France with SFR as my GPRS provider.
I have been trying to connect to my work VPN using the IP address, username and password I use on my desktop and pptp as the VPN type, however every time I try and connect the operation times out and asks me to check my username and password.
When I review these details I have noticed that my 12 character password defaults to a 16 character password every time, of course I cannot see what the password has defaulted to as it comprises of ***'s and is non-copy-able.
Is this normal behaviour and the problem lies elsewhere or is this a known fault?
Thanks for any help regarding this matter.
PS - should I eventually manage to connect to my VPN can you offer any advice on how to map a network drive on my Qtek or any way to access the files on the remote server?

GPRS settings: APN authentication type

Hi all,
I have an HTC Dream branded TIM, which I can use for internet access with the APN settings provided by my operator.
I could also use a different APN which requires username/password authentication but up to know I was not able to use it with my phone.
(Yes, I am already aware of the usage of the "APN type" field in order to instruct the phone which APN profile to use )
I suspect it is an authentication-related issue because in the APN configuration of the DREAM I cannot define any configuration related to the authentication method (PAP, CHAP, etc.).
My phone is rooted (JF1.5): can you hint me to understand:
1) which log I can read in order to check why I cannot get the connection with the APN
2) which shell command I can use to try to verify the networking configuration binded with the APN: IP address, DHCP, DNS, ...
3) how I can set the authentication used when connecting to the APN
Thanks for your help, experts!

No Internet connection

I use an unlocked Verizon Droid Pro in Germany with Vodafone. The phone works fine. I can place and receive calls, also abroad. I can also send sms messages. But I cannot connect to the internet via GSM. I added an APN with web.vodafone.de and select that APN to be used but it doesn't work.
Anyone has an idea on that? Is it locked on Verizon internet gateway (which is of course not available)?
Thanks for any help.
Hi,
I have the same config and it is working fine.
Only MMS are not working with any config.
I have only set

apn: web.vodafone.de

Mnc: 02
Everything else is not set!

Hello,
I had the same problem with my unlocked Droid Pro... I am working in mobile network company, so found the problem only because I was able to trace it directly in equipment
There are fields username/password fields in the APN settings. Whenever you let these fields empty (because your carrier does not need them) - phone sends [email protected] instead of login name, and authentication server rejects your internet request because of bad login. So you have two options:
1. Ask your carrier to activate "authentication override" in the network - but I don't think that they'll do it because of one complaint
2. Search for a file named “pppd-ril.options” in /system/etc/ppp/peers and open it with text editor. There are two fields in this file:
user [email protected]
password NotUsed
You should just delete user and password values, so the text should be:
user
password
Don't touch other lines. Also you should be root for it.
Hope it helps.

Thanks. That really was the point. However even I got root I could modify but not safe that file. Every text editor came back with a write error. So I went to Settings-Wireless-Mobile Networks-Access Point Names and created a new APN instead of using the APN given there. I then selected the new APN to be used. I guess that one does not hold the NotUsed entry mentioned above.
Once more thanks a lot
Btw: Any idea why I cannot modify the original file?
Nice that it works
I also had problems with saving... finally, after a lot of headaches SUFBS file manager helped - you can mount system as read-write there.
This is also solution on Atrix 4G/MB860 on AT&T stock fruitcake 4.5.145

Yes, thanks. With b-mobile (DOCOMO) I needed to fill in [email protected] and bmobile for the username/password as raginginferno suggests here, quoting your post: tripadvisor. com/ ShowTopic-g294232-i525-k5434695-o30-B_mobile_USIM300_Visitor_Prepaid_Sim_card_ENGLISH-Japan.html
