[To Devs]Can you port this? - XPERIA X8 General

Take a look:
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_st21i-4718.php
MSM7227/Adreno 200/800 Mhz
Do you think it's real and will be released with ICS ?Then a port to X8 would be easy.

well, it all depends on whether we can get those things. I didn't read it thoroughly but are the things your asking about even released yet??

Why do people keep spamming this question ??? Many people have said it would be near impossible to port...why ? Cuz believe it or not, that thing has a Snapdragon ARMv7 CPU...ours is some crappy little armv6 cpu...huge gap...comprende ? If porting armv7 to armv6 was that easy, devs would have probably ported the Ray or Arc's version of ICS...

Android 2.3 gingerbread

Hey!
I've googled a bit and it may be just a rumor but who have also read there are technical specs like 1 ghz for gingerbread??
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
Gingerbread not Android 3.0 ?
Gingerbread is 2.3....Honeycomb will probally be 3.0
its in development. nobody knows anything about the needed specs for gingerbread so just wait.
there are a few rumors, 512mb ram, 1ghz processor etc. , nothing else.
These spec rumors are only rumors. There is no evidance to support this.
Google can only outline a set of recommended requirements that manufactures should follow, they may recommend a 1ghz cpu, 512mb ram etc but we will only find out for sure when they publicly release it.
There was another thread where someone asked the same question and a very good answer was given, it's in this section and was only a few days ago.

I suppose you're thinking of this thread in android development. (it should probably have been posted here in the first place).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820844
At the AOSP kernel git for gingerbread, there's a build flag for msm7227 for the 2.6.35 branch. Someone at Google may be testing it. So there's a chance that gingerbread will run okay on the Legend, albeit without official support from HTC.

Gingerbread Update for Galaxy 3?

Hey guys I just read on the LG optimus One website that it will be getting a gingerbread update..And comparing Galaxy 3 and Optimus one I found that Galaxy 3 has a better processor but lesser RAM.So if Optimus one will get a Gingerbread update then is it possible for Galaxy 3 to get it too??
It doesn't have better CPU...

But dude Galaxy 3 has better CPU then Optimus One P500..Thats why I have quostioned..
Doesn't matter whether CPU is better..Android engineers are saying that any device capable of running Froyo should run Gingerbread comfortably..so we should get it..now main issue is, will Samsung do it & if so, when??
Samsung wll not update i5800 twice.
Also the LG phone has Qualcomm cpu with 3D accelarator and I think it's better then that "optimized" cpu from samsung.

ARM v6 processor is not likely to get 2.3. And to less ram...CM7 is only option i think

I had an option to choose between LG OO and G3 and i chose G3 over LG OO and i don't regret it one bit!
Samsung is way better than LG when it comes to stability, built and also service.
True, we don't have a GPU and an Official 2.3 update but look at the bright side, we have a better processor that can be over clocked up to 1.4GHz and we don't have to spend our weekends getting our phone repaired

Its marcellusbe's thread where he has shown cyanogenmod and gingerbread working on it. The fact is that he is still working on the rom. Once he is done we would be able to run Gingerbread also. BTW Samsung is quite slow. They had released the FROYO update very late before which 100s of custom roms were made for galaxy 3
all of this is just useless "spamming" here...
1.) it doesnt matter what specs we have, the only thing that matters is that samsung is NOT SUPPORTING this phone anymore
2.) samsung is NOT releasing ANY updates (rumours are NOT true) to G3 because we already got updated from 2.1 to 2.2.
3.) and yes we are capable of running 2.3 as well as 2.2
4.) i ask you, DO NOT post similar threads like these anymore... we have these kind of threads already, use the search tool OR google

If sammy wont act like a b*tch, then we will also get ICS like the nexus s one in one or two months, hopefully. I dont even want the touchwiz itself on my sgs with ICS, only the music and video player from SGS GB those are for me the best apps.
So lets just hope that there will be soon an update for our awesome phone
cauz there arent so many differences between the phones, ok, cam is different, touch keys are different and nand flash is different. But doesnt matter^^ If sammy wont do anything, there is CM9 ;D
I really hope Sammy is listening to us... we never had the chance to use all the horse power in this phone!!
lets send billions of e-mail twit fb... to samsung so they hear
Not a bad idea!!!!

Finally, we have some progress. After petition which was created by OmegaRED^, and thread, created by me, Sony make some love for our community (thanks for zdzihu for info about it. It's big deal I think, cause we know we can make X10 much better now. Second thing is that Sony didn't forget about us and still looking (hopefully) to relase some other features (I mean sources and answer for questions on their forum). Fingers crossed, guys. We will give X10 devices new life again .

Yes! Great news.
I also hope that Sony will deliver the way for us to have 16 million colors in our 4" screen, and maybe even multitouch.
I'm loving Sony again...
I'm sure they will do this, if this possible of course. Hope yes .
PS: I'm planning buy Xperia GX if will be international, and with MSM8960 (Adreno320). For me this is the best smartphone for now, bye Samsung with your SIII plastic fun!

XPERIA GX is really good, what are the benchmarks actually of it vs GS3? Not that I care about it, the phone is smooth, UI is AWESOME and design is THE BEST so far of all Androids. But, the thing we should hope is that it's the MSM8960 Pro, or else we won't have the Adreno 320 .
I'm going to buy it, alot of websites say that the chip in the XPERIA GX supports all networks.
MSM8960 confirmed ->

It's extremally sweet and fast . My next must have after X10 and Play .
BTW - I don't understand why they put Arc/Arc S on second picture, cause there is GX spec xD.
MSM8960 means Adreno 225.
MSM8960 Pro means we get Adreno 320. I think we get the first one ^^. However I'm still going to buy this phone! I contacted Sony Mobile and they said there are no details for a worldwide release yet. So I think there will be worldwide release since they don't know!
Good idea . And I still believe on Adreno 320 with Pro Snapdragon. Maybe they don't put words about it on details. Hope soon we get full specification of GX . Okey, we need stop spam, friend .

There is still the question if ICS will ever get camera working..

[Q] exynos 5's source codes problem..will it be released soon?

luck of source codes for the previous exynos in galaxy s3 is a well known problem preventing the ability to create good, custom and clean android roms for s3. therefore, many developers have decided ditching s3 custom roms.
im afraid there will never be any good clean android roms for S4.. or it will take a long time.
what do you think? why doesnt samsung release the source code of the exynos 5? will it happen soon or it will be the same as s3?

I think I also read somewhere that @AndreiLux said that the big.LITTLE technology in the exynos octa wasn't even working it should and it might be a hardware issue. Not sure where I read it or if it even was that, though.
