"flash zip (CM9-ICS-MR1-120305-jordan)***** DONT flash Kernel our you'll get Err:A5,70,00,00,23****"
anybody?
you will need to flash a new SBFusing RSD lite.
I used this SBF http://www.multiupload.nl/I52KOPDS8N
It should work unless you have flashed a higher version before hand. If you have installed a higher version then try these SBF and use one the same version you flashed before.
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php
Yes if you are installing ICS and following the defy+ guide dont flash the CM9 kernel.
If you want to install ICS then use this ROM http://defy-cm.net/CM9-NIGHTLY-120417-Defy+.zip Its the new epsylon one as I heard the Quarx has a few more issues not sure if the new build has sorted it out,
You can use the latest version of gapps found here http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120422-signed.zip
Follow these instructions using the rom and gapps I linked but skip the flash CM9 kernel
A How to on flashing ICS(Defy Plus Builds)
1:Head over to Stable Recovery from boot menu
2:Wipe Data (Nandroid Backup Before Doing this [optional])
3:Install Zip from SD
4:Select ur ICS(DefyPlus) zip
5:FLash
6:Flash CM9 Kernel (SKiP THIS STEP!)
7:Flash Gapps zip(On first page of ICS DeV thread)
8:Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache

Is it possible ?
i have not tried installing cm9 yet. but from what i read, you just simply reboot into recovery and do the following to downgrade to cm7:
1. wipe data and cache.
2. go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache.
3. go back, and select install zip from sd.
4. select zip from sd, and choose cm7 stable zip and flash. the full stable rom already contains the cm7 kernel. no need to flash separately.
5. again, select gapps zip and flash.
6. reboot.
if you just want to flash cm7 kernel because you want to install a nightly build (without kernel), just flash cm7-kernel-signed.zip, follow by the nightly zip, in step 4.
Yep thats right
Motorola Defy CM7 RC 1.5 OC 1GHz
You need to flash the froyo kernel first
1) Flash froyo sbf (stock rom)
2) root using superoneclick, install sndinitdefy
Then reboot into custom recovery and follow the below steps

Do you really need to flash froyo kernel first?
I have to come back to CM7 and do I really need to flash SBF first? Or can I simply flash CM7 with kernel package?

Please, if you don't know what you are talking about, don't mislead people. If I only need to change a single broken brick in the wall on the second floor, do I need to ruin the whole house and rebuild it?
No need to flash SBF. Just go into recovery, wipe data/cache and dalvik cache, flash CM7 kernel, flash CM7 build, flash gapps for CM, wipe cache and dalvik cache.
DONE!
As above is the right way I have done it lots of times.
defy cm7
Hi everyone...I hoped never to write for this

Code:
Code:
Bootloader

Err:A5,70,00,00,23
Battery OK
Ok to Program
Connect USB
Data cable
I've tried to flash a custom rom from RDS Lite, but now after the reboot (RDS Lite show me SUCCESS)...nothing...the screen is black and the phone...does't do anything! I've tried with this rom: Italy from http://and-developers.com/sbf:defy
Can someone help me?

TO CLEAR YOUR CONFUSIONS ABOUT GB KERNEL ICS AND FROYO KERNEL ICS
I have seen lot of confused user out there asking about which kernel to flash and stuff... So here u go read below...
So our beloved Awsome Developers make two types of nightlies
1-For DefyPlus(Can Also be used on Defy(RedLens))
These are the GB/CM9 kernel builds
These are found under /cm9-nightly-defy+/ folder of the servers which we have
To install these you need to follow the TuT to install ICS Defy Plus Above...
Green Lens Camera Wont work on these(Correct me if I and wrong)
2-For Regular Defy(Do not work on Defy plus)
These are Froyo/CM7 kernel Builds
These are found under /CM9-Nightly-Defy/ folder of the servers which we have.
To install these follow the TuT to install CM9 ICS FOR Defy stated above
3-Well there is no 3rd build(There is The MileStone2 Port by Walter79,But now that we have camera on our builds that one is not usefull...)
So for installing ICS (CM9) I have to flash CM7kernel afterwards and I 'm working already with CM7!
That's very confusing for me.So I have to download the CM7 kernel and put it on my card first.
thanks a lot for the help.
1st of all im from 2.1 eclair.. then i go and flash .sbf for froyo 2.2.2 re-release version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093352
after that i root it and install cwm then i follow the steps to install nightly
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100
i dl this http://defy.wdscript.fr/defy-cm9/ [CM9-NIGHTLY-120416-Defy.zip]
m.cfa.aero/misc/CM7_Kernel-signed.zip
and i followed all the steps
How To Flash ICS(Defy Builds)
1:Head Over To Stable recovery
2:Wipe Data
3:Install ZIp from SD Card
4:Select ICS(Defy) .zip
5:Flash
6:Flash CM7 Kernel
7:Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache
then after it reboot, its not CM9 ROM but Froyo ROM 2.2.2..
whats wrong?
Are you sure that you dont do a Wipe Data/chache?
Make sure you are using SndInitDefy_2.3.apk. I used version 1.9 and had the exact same problem you had.
Hope this helps.
I have bricked my SGY.Before I had hyperion 9 with hellfusion kernel.few questions are
1.How to save my mobile from bricked stage to normal
1A.I have hyperion with me now so after clearing data, system, cache.can I flash thesame rom again.only for few days I will keep H9
2.I want to change to cm11
2A.someone said I should be stock kernel.is that true?.if it is true then how to get stock kernel again
2B.what are cm11 flashing instructions.
2C.what is RC.
3.if internal memory is increased by some other method.say, sameuls method.will it break updates
4.my default cmw is that I flash from H9 thread.is it okay to flash cm11 or should I do anything to flash cm11

1- make a nandroid backup in cwm - you can restore it if your phone doesn't start & you can still get into recovery
If you don't have a nandroid backup or can't get into recovery flash stock rom via odin
1a- yes remember to mount all partitions as well before flashing
2- read instructions on cm11 thread
3- Flash hells fusion kernel zip - There is an option there to flash stock kernel or you could just flash the entire stock firmware via odin
2b - read the cm11 rom thread
2c - stands for release candidate - considered stable & is a milestone release but won't have the latest nightly bug fixes
3- if talking about on cm11 than yes - you must use method as per cm11 instructions on thread
4- you need cwm6 please actually read the instructions on the rom thread!

I did answer that
You need to use cwm6 to flash cm11 (stock roms like hyperion use cwm5)
The kernel you need to flash containing cwm6 is on the rom thread
Again please read the instructions on the cm11 thread - all these questions would of been answered if you read it and followed the instructions
......ooohhhff......I finally got an answer
