Error during install of ANY WP7 rom. - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hey, i've been using Android NAND roms for a while and decided to try WP7.
But everytime i attempt to install an WP7 rom i recieve this error:
(The installation starts fine, but freezes during partition 1. Partition 0 is OK)
Error Description: send partition data failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1283)
Error Description: block send fail
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1091)
Error Description: flash write failed.
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (710)
I have tried this:
- Switch USB Ports & Cable
- Task29, two times. Reinstalling MAGLDR 1.13, Radio, HSPL 2.08.
- Format SDcard with FAT32. & Remove SD-Card
- ActiveSync Setting "Allow usb-connections" is disabled.
- Run DWI.exe as administrator.
- Use last 24mb (Not sure if i really enabled it, because everytime i attempt to
it sends me straight back to "startmenu" of MAGLDR.)
Could anyone please point out, what i am doing wrong & what i could try?

in magldr set this settings:
* 10. Services, 4. UseLast24NAND
* 10. Services, 5. ClearSD MDR
* go to 5. USB Flasher and run DWI.exe to flash ROM
also look this tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=954899&d=1332181049

I did already attempt this, but are you supposed to
get any indication back when you enable the last 24mb?

just press green key to confirm and automatically get back to main menu

how about trying this..
after Magldr, in HD2 toolkit, click magldr partition 300/ 45 & see what happens. this method worked for me after a few of those errors
dont forget in Service
- clear SD MBR
- uselast24nand

I don't know what happened, but i followed that toturial after i installed Winmo 6.5.
The installation is going perfectly fine now, thanks

Try to do these steps in this exact order:
*make sure you double check yourself.
1) Go into Boot loader (tri-color screen).
2) Do Task-29.
2a) Install HSPL 2.08 and make sure you have 2.15 radio or another radio compatible with MAGLDR.
3) Flash Windows mobile Rom and restart and let it boot up fully.
4) After you have booted into Windows mobile, Go back into boot loader (tri-colored screen) (reboot or turn it completely off it doesn't matter).
5) Flash Magldr v1.13. (Do not task-29 before or after installing Magldr!!)
6) Enable the last 24 Mb in settings of Magldr.
7) Flash Windows Phone with USB flasher from Magldr Menu.
8) Enjoy Your Windows Phone!
The reason it gives you that error is because you either came from Android on NAND, you used task-29 before or after you flashed Magldr, or you did not enable last 24 mb.

It's needed to install Windows Mobile before WP7?

Yes, unless you already have Windows Mobile on your device before installing wp7, then you dont have to.
All I recommend is to hard reset then boot into windows mobile and then restart into boot loader and install Magldr and then continue from there.
But if you have Android on Nand then you have to or else it will give the error the OP received.

so which version of WinMo should I use? any fast link here would be? thank you

Any version would work. I have an Omega rom just on my computer, but my connection is slow so I'll give you the source:
Make sure you download a rom specifically for your phone. Ex. Tmobile Hd2 needs Tmobile Hd2 rom.
HD20 ROM post 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=576215
OMEGA ROM post 1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=692763
Just download one, task-29 your phone, then install the rom you downloaded through USB. Then continue with step 2a of my earlier post.

I followed the instructions step by step with no problems. Made sure my radio was up to date, made sure to install HARDSPL 2.08. Downloaded the MAGLDR 1.13, and NAND Android ROM. Installed MAGLDR no problem, now on the bootloader screen with usb connected correctly and for some reason when I open the DAF file in the DFT_Android ROM and get to the third step it says this.

Flash Clock Work Mod Recovery that is the right partition size for the ROM (check ROM thread for this) and then flash it via Clock Work Mod Recovery using the .zip file. Click on my giuide in my sig and look for the links to the guide you are using and the other guide I have linked at the top of the guide.
I did it and now it is saying "NAND Kernal open Failed". I even tried Magldr again and it did complete but I still says the same thing. I am stuck on that bootloader window. I need this phoe running by tomorrow. Can you help me?
Yes but I need detailed information as to what you have done and what ROM you are trying to flash. The more info you can give my about what you have done the better. When you say stuck in bootloader do you mean the multicolor screen? Also sorry for the lag in post my wife wanted to play Farmville aghhhh, lol.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
I was following the instructions on this site to the T. I verified the Radio and I installed the HARDSPL 2.08.
I downloaded the stuff from XDA from the links on this forum:
ROM: DFT_Android
Bootloader: MAGLDR113
I followed the instructions and when I got to the time to open the DAF file in the ROM I did and got three clicks in and it said what I typed in my first post to this thread. Right now I am currently stuck when I turn the phone on it says NAND Open Failed and then goes to the eMADLDR Screen.
If you can help me and get it running by the end of the night that would be awesome!
If I put the phone in USB Mass Storage Mode and open the drive for the phone there is nothing in there.
Ok let me review the DFT ROM thread for a few minutes as I have never flashed the Original DFT ROM. Also now that you have MAGLDR on your HD2 you do not have a ROM this is why it will not do anything but boot into MAGLDR it is also why you are getting that error message. MAGLDR has nothing to boot right now. When you are in option #4 USB Mass Stg does your HD2 show up as MAGLDR in device manager in control panel of your computer?
What version of windows are you runnimg on your computer?
no.
Let me know what my options are whether it be find a way to do the nand or load from sd card.
What version of Windows does your computer use XP,Vista, or Windows 7?
win 7 is what use

Ok Your problem is that your computer is not recognizing your HD2 when connected to your computer this is why I asked if it said MSGLDR in device manager. You can try a couple of things to fix this. One just try all USB ports on your computer untill you see it says it is installing the drivers and it shows up as MAGLDR. Two you can open ActiveSynce or Windows Mobile Device Center and uncheck allow USB connections. Three go to device manager and click on your phone as it will show up there it just might say unknown or something, anyway click on it to make it drop down and then Right click on the drop down and select update drivers then select get from internet. If it does not find the drivers automaticly from the internet , browse and go to computer and then removable device and select for it to get drivers from it. When you have proper connection it will say MAGLDR for your HD2. Then you should be able to flash the ROM. Also make sure you right click on the DAf and select run as adminastrator when you flash the ROM.
Also if you just want to all you have to do to flash back to Windows Mobile is download the official ROM for your HD2 or a custom ROM and flash it via bootloader. Just make sure the white bar of bootloader says USB befor running the RUU. Make sure the ROM is for a T-Mobile HD2 thogh be it a official or custom.
Tried the last one and yes it now shows up at MAGLDR on my device manager. But when I go to the DAF I only get three clicks in again and it said this.

When you say three clicks are you talking about the clicks you have to make on the next button in the DFT Utility? Also just to make sure you are right clicking on the DAF and selecting run as administrator as you have to do this if you are running Vista or Windows 7. It is a must.
Yes and yes. I open the Rom to run and click "next" three times and then I get that message. I am also making sure that I opening under admin. At this point would it be best to do a manually copy the rom to the sd and open from there? I am not sure how to do it, I found video online on
http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/01/07/...-on-htc-hd2-with-clockworkmod-recovery-video/
The only problem I have with that is that the os looks like a really old version when I really want the sense or desire

Well I am only looking at the first post in the thread for the DFT ROM and I do not see it say you can use Clock work recovery anywhere in that post. Which means it does not give a partition size for CWM. But it does not hurt to try it. Copy the .zip file the ROM comes in when you down load it to your computer to the root of your SD card. Root means it is not in any folder but just on your SD card. Then follow these instructions from my guide. Also download the v1.3 150MB from the CWM thread i linked it below.
Download the appropriate partition size recovery.zip file , check the first post by the ROM dev in the ROM thread for their suggested partition size. Go the CWM thread to download and see more instructions on how to install. Once you have the .zip file downloaded extract the contents of the zip file to the location and folder of your choosing. Next power on your HD2 but keep the power button pressed down to enter MAGLDR. Scroll down to option #5 USB flasher and connect it via USB cable to your computer. Give it a minute to install any drivers necessary and then right click on the DAF in the folder you extracted the files to and click on run as administrator. Let the progress bar on your computer and HD2 complete to 100% then click close on the last window of the installer. Your HD2 will automatically reboot it’s self but hold down the power button as it boots back up to bring up MAGLDR again. Scroll down to AD Recovery and press the send button and CWM will boot.
Once you have CWM flashed and booted up use the volume up and down just like in MAGLDR to scroll and go to install zip from sdcard and press the send button. Then go to choose zip from sdcard and press the send button. Then scroll through until you see your .zip file you just copied to your SD card and press the send button. then scroll to yes and press the send button and this should flash the ROM for you. I am only concerned about it not mentioning CWM in the DFT ROM thread, maybe Cotulla just has not updated it yet.

Yes that is Clock Work Mod Recovery, I linked it in my other post. You want to download the v1.3 150MB download for it.
This looks like a major pain, start again by flashing a WM6.5 rom. That way you are starting fresh.
You just need to go back to step 1 after flashing WM6.5, hard SPL already flashed, start at installing MagLdr...
Trying it right now. I will repost if it works. So far I am able to get Clock Work on my device, I am currently downloading the ROM.ZIP file to then mount to the root folder on my phone. I will post in the next 1hr to let you know.

Why would they want to start all over again they have MAGLDR flashed. I personally think they just need to flash a different Android ROM as the DFT ROM has to be flashed by USB Flasher and installing with CWM is so much easier to me. But synergeticink wants this ROM so I am trying to help synergeticink get this ROM going. Starting over will only add two more steps here, one flash the Win Mo ROM, two reflashing MAGLDR, and maybe three if they already have CWM flashed as they would have to reflash it if they deside to go with another CWM compatible ROM. Which I am still not sure about if the DFT ROM is CWM compatible or not.

Android does not want to install!

Hello, please help me!! I wanted to install android on my new HTC HD2.
What I did:
Installed hardslp 2.08
Radio 2.15.50.14
MAGLDR 1.13
after installed magldr it sent me to it's menu. I select USB flasher and then go to my Android Rom unrared folder, i run DAF file. Then it starts to isntall something(1-3) seconds. says everything is done and thren reboot system and says "nand kernel open failed" and sends me back to menu.
i tried many times and with another Android but nothing helped! Tried to install Clockwork mode, same problem. Then tried to isntall 29 but this program did not want to install saying that it couldnt connect with HD2. I thought it is something wrong with my computer. I borrowed my friend's laptop and tried to install Android from his. Installing process took a little bit more time but the same problem: It congratulates me that everything is done then reboots, then kernel error appears for 1 sec and sends me back to main menu.
Then I deleted Sync program(windws phone something..) and tried new ROM. Now DAF program says me next:
An error has occurred

Hi,
Which ROM are you trying to install?
Which operating system have you got on your pc/laptop?
Are you right clicking on the DAF and selecting run as administrator?
Also when you go to USB Flasher and connect your HD2 to your computer are you giving a minute to establish a connection?
Give it a minute to establish connection, and try another Rom. Maybe your HD2 is 512 (EU), and you are trying to install ROM for 1024 HD2 (Tmobile US).
Did you read, maybe it is clockwork rom, not magldr?
Here is the link for MAGLDR flashing rom, stock Desire
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893620
it does not support ext partitions on sd card. But you can try another roms. And if you dont know how to flash it via Clockwork, here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044830
p.s. Better ROMs are that that you flash via clockwork. Study that, it is easy.
Thanks to guys who wrote that tutorials
And here are all ROMs for HD2

New to XDA, HTC HD2 to win 7 OS failed! Stuck on HTC with white screen!

Hi,
So I'm trying to put win phone 7 on a HTC HD 2, it was a Telstra one, so I read someone about the .txt version skip trick, and I did that(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704174). So then I was able to flash the ROM to:
PB81110 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotulullaHSPL0x30
So I thought after that I should be able to put the new software on it right? The new OS? Windows 7?
So I tried to run DFT Leo [DWI100] (From this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953078 )to put the windows 7 on it, but it didn't work.. becuse I can't get the phone to boot past the HTC logo white screen, it just stays there..
I can get it into the red green blue white boot screen though, and it shows that rom I posted above.
So what can I try next?
Any help would be so badly appreciated!!

Hi,
I downloaded and installed this but it still won't get past the HTC logo with the white background.. Is there anything else I can try>? Am I supposed to do something else after I've installed MAGLDR? I've tried V11 and V13 neither get the phone to boot..
Am I supposed to upload the software now? The WIndows 7 software? While it is in boot mode?
I don't think MAGLDR is working because it still says "SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE" Cotulla HSPL?
HSPL is OK... this always show in bootloader screen....
you doing something wrong.... after flashing magldr, phone must boot automatically to magldr menu
lets do all simple from beginning:
use this tool and do this steps:
http://www.wupload.com/file/2649664707/HD2ToolKit4.2.0.1.zip
1. Task29
2. Install Magldr
3. When boot to magldr menu, go to:
* 10. Services, 4. UseLast24NAND
* 10. Services, 5. ClearSD MDR
* go to 5. USB Flasher and run DWI.exe to flash ROM

Hi,
Thanks for that, I was just about to post, I've managed to get it to go to Magldr, which is good, I just had to do the update to 2.15 something, and then Magldr just worked?! Cool. But Still have a problem. When I'm in magldr I can't get the windows 7 to install still. It keeps saying :
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)
Error Description: EnterBootloader missing
Info: .\RSPL\BootLoader.cpp (176)
If I run in compatibility mode, I only get this error, it says "wating for usb connection" for ages, then says:
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)
...
I'm using win 8.. but on win 7 I think I got the same error.. maybe I should try a different HD20 version. ?
did you do this?
* 10. Services, 4. UseLast24NAND
OK,
Scatch all that! I think it was win 8 that I couldn't connect to the phone.. I did it on win 7 and it all seemed to work.. only now it keeps going to aMAGLDR .. first it says "loading wph" then goes straight back to magldr..
maybe missing WMDC in Win8 for USB drivers?

you dont have installed system and that reason why magldr booting....
if you flashed WP7 maybe you changed settings for booting....
check this:
10. Services, 1. BootSettings, 1. Boot source, 3. WPH from NAND

Yeah ok there is no WPH setting there... but it's strange it says " booting wph" but then goes to magldr..
I will try a differnt wp7 version.. Do I have to have a micro SD card in the phone?
Ok just tried again.. same thing.. what am I doing wrong? These are my exact steps:
Turn phone on.
Phone boots to MAGLDR.
Go to 8.Services.
Go to 4.Uselast24rand. (I even tried skipping this step still doesn't work..)
Select the "phone button" on the left.
Go to 4. USB Flasher.
Connect phone to PC.
Start the Windows 7 phone software, it detects OK and then proceeds to install the software. Lots of writing on the phone about partitions etc, progress bar takes maybe 3 minutes to complete. It says success! And then reboots.
It says "booting WPH"- Then just goes back to the MAGLDR screen..
yes you must have sd card in phone.... sd card is memory but first time hear to boot to magldr when booting WP7....
Ok all fixed! All I had to do was update the MAGLDR to 11.3 and boom it started booting! Thanks for everyones help!
Cheers, now I will sit back and set it up! I will try to get that version that apparently works with updates?

Damm! This thing is like a new phone!!! Totally an ebay bargain at $200!! Just stick wp7 on it and you're laughing! Now just gotta get me a marketplace thingy..
Yuki ROM lock sdcars, dont forget this... other ROM's not...

Help please! Update problem after installing MAGLDR V1.13

Hi, Tried installing my first Nexus ICS Android on HTC HD2
following instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
Got to the point where I got MAGLDR v1.13 installed and running.
Then found that I needed HD2 Android NAND Tool and Repartitioned System size to 200 Mb
using USB flasher mode on the MAGLDR.
Then NAND Tool suggested that running Wipe(taks 29) to be a good idea before attempting to install Android so I tried running this as well.
I got the phone into tri-colour USB mode and started wipe. USB mode disappeared replaced by HTC progress bar but it got stuck at 0% and timedout.
I tried recovering to HTC original WWE ROM but it also gets stuck at 0% progress.
Currently Bootloader starts and loads a options, I can also go into USB mode but nothing will start updating the phone it gets stuck at 0%.
I think what repartitioning created a problem but I am unsure how to recover it and need your help!

Wrong forum, should be in the Q&A. You'd have thought it would be obvious, seeing as you're asking a QUESTION, but somehow people don't pick that up
Also, you really need to read more. There isn't any point in installing MAGLDR then Task29ing, in fact there is very little point in Task29ing at all unless you experience major problems with your phone. A simple data wipe (in CWM) and repartition has never failed me.
If you did a task 29 after doing the other steps first then you wiped everything back off. Install magldr again then CWM and then install your rom of choice.
Also for being a member since 2005 you should know not to EVER post a question in development.
Mods please move to Q&A

Sorry for posting it in the wrong forum.
Many thanks for the comments...I cannot install anything at present because once update process starts it times out at 0%. Task29 did not work either - it also gets stuck at 0%.
Only thing that works is Boot loader and USB mode.
As Boot loader is working I tried to install NAND Android following this instruction:
2. FLASH YOUR ANDROID ROM
The Original NAND Android Thread by Cotulla is *HERE*
NOTE1: This section is only applicable AFTER you have flashed MAGLDR to your Device
NOTE2: Make sure your phone is still connected via usb cable before starting
* When your phone Reboots it will Enter the MAGLDR Boot Menu Screen *
1. Press the 'Volume Down' button to goto Option 5: USB Flasher and press the 'Call' button (far left of the 5 hardware buttons at the bottom)
2. The menu will enter Android Flasher mode and install usb drivers if not present
3. Browse to the folder you extracted your NAND Android Package files to on your pc, right click on Run DAF.exe (or Install.exe if DAF.exe isnt present) and select Run as Administrator
But DAF is giving this error back:
Error happen
Read below for more information
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723)
thats all old instructuions.
go get the nand toolkit, and also get hspl3
...
phone into bootloader (tri colour screen, not magldr)
connect usb
run hspl3
choose 2.08.hspl (don't assume its already 2.08.hspl, check it, hanging at 0% is often a sign of no hspl)
when reboots immediately go back into bootloader
*(* from here on you can do all this in the nand toolkit*)*
flash magldr
when it reboots enter magldr
(if phone hangs on a htc screen and doesn't show magldr, you need to flash radio 2.15.50)
phone into magldr
connect usb
choose 'usb flasher'
in toolkit select desired system partition size and cache size
when its finished
phone back into magldr
choose 'ad nand'
this starts cwm
(if you havent yet partitioned your sd card with an ext partitio, look ity up and do it now)
select 'install zip from sd'
select zip from sd
browse to where you dropped the rom.zip file onto your sd card.
when it reboots you're done, , alternatively it failed somewhere, , which step?
if you get apparent driver errors, theres a nice big button called drivers in the toolkit (i think?)
Many thanks that worked like clockwork

[Q] White screen without HTC and impossible to launch any soft

Hello everybody,
i am trying to install android and i have a lot a problem.
First of all, the phone belonged to my bro. One year ago, he wanted to install android but he failed and he bought an other phone. Because it's a good phone, i have decided to do it but it's not very easy....
The phone: white screen without HTC logo, hspl 2.08spl installed
My pc: W7 /usb ok
What i tried:
- change the hspl version : i tried to install an other version, just to try the soft and it was written on the screen that it's a success but nothing change on the version. I mean, i tried to install the 3.03 version but the version stay on 2.08spl even if the message is a success.
- lauch Task29: it's not working. I have a msg error
- install a rom: same problem
I dont remember exactly which error message it was. One was due to a communication error and the other because of the corruption of the imag(error 276).
Do you have an idea?

My advice is for you to start over from scratch turkey...put the device in bootloader mode and run the AIO HD2 Toolkit and perform a Task 29; once done, put the device in bootloader mode again and run MAGLDR. If you're dead in the water at either of these...get drunk and sing to your cat!

Like U said I run the AIO HD2 TOolkit and perform a task 29 but I have an error 286 The Nand Flasher Utility has encountered communication errors during the update process...)
Install last HtcSync version
After
If in the bootloader you read on the second line you can read SPL-2.08.HSPL
flash a radio Rom (2.12 or 2.15)
Try to install Clk 1.5.x (Leoimg.nbh on sd card root, you have to start your hd2 with power + vol- at the same time and follow the instructions)
After you can enter in Clk (power + arrow touch) , settings, resize system partition, and after go to recovery to partition your sdcard and install the zip of the rom of your choice....

I installed the last HTCSync, I checked again my bootloader, and it's the 2.08 HSPL.
I try to flash a radio rom but it failed (ERROR 270- update error: the image file is corrupted.). I try again and it failed again but with an other error message(ERROR 286-update error: the ROM Update Utility has encountered communication errors during the update process).
May I have to try to install Clk or it's not neccessary because I don't have a sd card?
the easiest way is with a SdCard, but it's possible with Hd2 Toolkit ...

:good:
Nothing working... Still the same message error...
Is my phone dead? Someone can help me? Pleeeeeaaaaaase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
download stock windows mobile rom. if it's an eu hd2, download an international rom. if it's tmous (tmobile usa), download its' rom.
What i mean is to download the corresponding rom to your device. be sure not to flash the wrong one.
before you start, download hspl4 package from here
run it on your computer, and install 2.08 HSPL (i know you have it, reinstall it)
next run the ruu executable you downloaded (the windows mobile rom i told you to download)
if it flashes, you can flash magldr and try. try AFTER you flash windows mobile, and a RADIO (suggesting 2.15)
if that doesn't work, extract the nbh from the executable, install SPL3.03 , rename nbh to LEOIMG.nbh , in capital letters, put it on your sd<= 4gb
turn phone in bootloader, you should be able to flash the rom. after flashing it reflash hspl and magldr
bro..download windows mobile device center software..Install it on your PC..Then install hd2 toolkit. switch off your hd2. Press volume down and power button until it shows 3 coloured screen.then install hspl, repeat the step and then install magldr, then let it boot up. then select the usb flasher on magldr, repartition according the rom that you want to install.
Hello everybody, I tried your 2 last advices but nothing works. Any idea?
Read this:

Don't have Sd card and sim card inserted while trying to fix it.
Try on other pc with windows, htc sync and windows Mobile device center installed.
Next thing, are you sure that you have HSPL and not SPL installed, its not same thing and task29 will not work.
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
Thank you. I will try.
