Still no WW update? - Eee Pad Transformer General

I'm in Thailand and still don't get the latest update.
Does anywhere except US get this update?

It seems they've halted the rollout. I'm located in Norway and have the WW version ICS. No updates here either.

considering the responses so far it maybe that Asus have pulled the update and are working on a better fix. they have done this before.

still waiting here in the UK.

The update didn't fix the main problem, its good they waited.
I sent them a RAMDUMP.txt from /sdcard I found on my TF showing kernel errors etc, not sure if it would have helped, but maybe check to see if you have one too and email them it

I'm so pissed off that I've just switched my TF101 off and stopped using it. If only I could get a full refund, I would take back and get a tablet from a company named after a popular fruit. I hate ASUS now and will discourage anybody from buying their crap quality products !!!

So the borked ICS update makes Asus a crap quality product maker?
If you're not happy with the ICS update, it's possible to rollback to HC.
If you weren't happy with the product before the ICS update, then I'm afraid no one can help you here. Better buy another product and switch forum.

LOL.. rant...

No DE update either, just talked to the support concerning the random reboots/lockups and they told me there is no date for an update. The only tip was to perform a factory reset and if that doesnt help to RMA it ...
Gesendet von meinem Transformer TF101 mit Tapatalk

No update (patch) in NZ either. Kind of glad they pulled the patched version rather than get my hopes up.
I believe the only major thing ASUS did wrong was not append the word Beta to the original ICS upgrade. If people knowingly install a beta version then they expect it to be a work in progress. Microsoft do it, so do Apple etc.

LOL . The .17 update seems to run faster and is more responsive, but i just got my first reboot only hours after updating. So they may have fixed some minor bugs, but the reboot issue is still there. I was in root explorer and let my tablet sit idle until it fell asleep. Not too long after it fell asleep, it rebooted and stuck on the Asus screen. I had my TF docked.

Just got the update for the WW version !

Same here, also just got the notification. extracting the dlpkgfile soon.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23725845&postcount=674

Just got the TW version!
Probably the DE version is out too.

Just recevieved the ww update.

Wonderful news! Still I don't see how this bug was missed. It was one of the first things I noticed when playing with it on the first day I bought it... and it's so widespread... did they not even play around with them first?
This is GREAT news! I was going to send my dock for RMA today! Guess I will wait a little more. If anyone has more news don't hesitate to post: timelines, firmware or hardware fix...
Joël.
So this means that it not the dock itself so people can stop trying to find b60s

Me too. I have the RMA package all wrapped up to go. Now I'll wait and see.
This reinforces the value of forums like XDA. Sufficient data has been presented in various threads here to assist ASUS in narrowing down the issue and hopefully fix it. In addition the pressure from members kept the issue in their sights. Hopefully the fix will improve the overall experience and not just fix one issue at the expense of creating another.

Hopefully its just a firmware update.

I haven't noticed any power/draining problems personally. In fact, I am amazed at the battery life of the tab while docked. But glad that a fix is in the works for those that need it.

i believe the article mentions it as a firmware update, but we'll have to see...that and other possible fixes on the horizon in 3.2 are just what is needed in a prod introduction. Sure there's bugs but it only becomes an issue if you don't address them.

I get excellent battery life if I put my ÁT in airplane mode when I'm done. I don't mind waiting 15 seconds for a few emails to download when I take it out of airplane mode.

My dock has already been shipped off for RMA, but I also hope that at least a portion of the issue may be correctable via firmware update. However, there are several reports in this thread (specifically here and here) that indicate that a hardware fix may be required.
In the main thread on dock battery drain, many with the B60 docks are reporting much small drain during standby and power off. So Asus is likely doing something different to the is newest batch of docks, and that means they have a 'fix' already.
So what are they waiting? Unless whatever they did to the B60 batch is hardware, and they need to figure out a software fix to patch the problem in older docks...
The fix is probably rolled into the 3.2 update.

I wouldn't assume too soon. I got a B60 dock 2 days ago. I also have had a B50 for about 2 weeks. There are noticable battery usage differences between the two in regular use, standy and when the tablet is turned off.
When I assume I make an a.....well you know
Lets wait and see what Asus says and does...
"We will shortly be announcing details on how this will be resolved for our customers."
If it was just a firmware update, they'd probably have said so. As in "We will shortly be releasing firmware to resolve this for our customers."
The only reason I can see for phrasing it in this manner is because they're expecting a hardware update -- which means "details" will be needed to tell customers in each market how to return their docks, what the expected turnaround time is, who pays for shipping, which serial number ranges are included, etc.
I hope I'm wrong, but I deal with decoding public relations-speke every day, and this doesn't read like a simple firmware update to me.

Don't get too excited. You can't root 3.2 yet.
I got the update this morning in Vancouver. If there is no root by the end of the weekend (I don't have my hopes up), then I'm downgrading. I need ad-hoc to work.
Got it last night in Nova Scotia.

Unfortunately I am not currently aware of a way to downgrade. trying to flash a lower version appears to leave the tablet unbootable. (otherwise I would be back on 3.1 until root for 3.2 appears)

Unfortunately it's too late for that for many of us...
When I upgraded I realized root may not work, but I always figured if it didn't I'd simply downgrade again and be ok... I never imagined that the downgrade wouldn't be possible either.
As my girlfriend said when I described it to her "who do they think they are? don't they know that you already paid for the device, it's not theirs anymore, why do they think they can still tell you what you can and can't do on it?" (Unfortunately I am not currently aware of any large technology company who believes that they actually sell you a device, they all think you merely rent it from them)

I'm in the same boat. Acer has always been pretty flexible, so I just assumed I'd be able to downgrade. Now I'm stuck.
This could likely be my last Acer product. Not that that carries any weight, considering how many returns they had on the initial run of the A500, which didn't appear to bother them that much. (Have you tried the new A500's, or the refurbs? The GPS actually works!)
I understand that they don't want us mucking around with these types of things, in order to keep themselves from getting flooded with warranty and service calls from the idiots who bricked their tablet, but they often adopt the wrong attitude. It's like some irrational need to police what people do with a product, after they bought and paid for it. I'm not sure why consumer electronics differ from any other purchased property (cars, houses, appliances, etc). I wish they would understand that they do not still own my tablet.
Then again, we did choose to install the update. It wasn't exactly forced on us. So maybe we're the idiots.

Every android device I had was not able to be downgraded. Not just acer. Ask the people who upgraded their EVO 4G to gingerbread. If your expecting to root you should always way until their is a rooted ROM available and never accept ota

I am happy that the new update seems to have made things smoother, but I am still getting the odd crash from apps like Dolpin Browser which is highly annoying, especially when I am in the middle of typing somthing big and then it FC's on me and I lose everything.
was in update loop
Dunno if this happened to anyone else. The tablet kept downloading the update and failing. I downloaded 3.2 update at least 8 times. The solution was to reset the tablet and then apply the update.
I've read its likely due to incompatible apps.
I'm happily on 3.2 now.
Does someone have the link to Acer for this update? If so please post the link.

A couple things.
I am still on 3.1 but this is because i patched for Netflix.
Now the device thinks it's a Xoom on 3.2 (which it is not, as we all know).
First question is has anyone tried Netflix with the update?
I'll search for it but does anyone have the original file that the netflix patch replaced?
I can't remember what it's called so it's difficult to search for it
Hmmm sounds like ill stay on 3.1

I tried doing a cold boot and clearing the data in the server apps, my device is not rooted its a refurb unit from best buy.
it did indeed come out 2-24 but i read somewhere bc of the bugs that Asus is working on an update for early nextweek- it also mentioned that they were pulling the OTA until the update goes out.
I know i saw the update posted somewhere here but you may want to wait a few more days until the update is released.
It took a few days for me to work some bugs out of mine, but it seems to work well now.. fingers crossed

How to make a great tablet worthless?... Update to ICS!

I couldn't believe it when I bought my TF101 on Black Friday for $250. What a steal! It was wonderful; totally reliable. I couldn't wait until ICS came out ; silly me. My TF101 has been completely unreliable since. Just like many others ; if I turn it off for more than a few minutes it either won't turn on or it reboots. I can no longer recommend the TF101 until Asus gets this resolved. I believe Asus will resolve this, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting concerned about the long time frame.
Please Asus, us loyal users need a fix soon, or at least a definitive status update.
Trying to be patient,
Dean
Install wake lock. It makes the tablet 100% reliable again, at the cost of slightly worse battery life. I'm living with it just fine until Asus release the fix they promised. A transformer with ICS+Wakelock is still x10 times better than a transformer with HC, IMHO.

personally i'm quite happy with tf+ics."Just like many others ; if I turn it off for more than a few minutes it either won't turn on or it reboots"---i haven't got this problem, with an aosp rom+oc kernel i have all what i need.my fortune is also that i don't suffer the kernels SOD\random reboots that mostly users reports.
everyone says wake lock makes battery life worse.
But is ICS + Wake Lock worse than ICS
or
is ICS + Wake Lock also worse than HC?

I am afraid that I must disagree with you about the transformer being unreliable. It may be that you would care to try rooting the device and installing a custom rom and kernel.
I have a TF101, B70. I rooted the device and have used a variety of ROMs, the latest being revolver 4 beta. I have also installed the test13 kernel by guever. For me this setup is perfect. I have had no SOD's or RR since I Installed the above. All is running incredibly smoothly, and reliably.
Perhaps you could try the setup which I have found to be so reliable and let us know if it has improved?

I don;t want your goodwill. I want you to search, read, and then only ask a question if the issue isnt covered. This place is for the devs, not for complaining
And reverting after a root is a legitimate fix. It was fine before ICS, it will be fine reverting.

I honestly think you need to stop whining about the Asus firmware and how ****ty ICS is and give AOKP or Team EOS ICS a try. It will change your perspective entirely, because they actually just work - very well in fact.
If there is one most important thing I've learned about Android, its this: hardware manufacturers can't write software for ****. The AOSP versions of Android simply blow everything else out of the water in terms of reliability, stability, and performance. Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed, I promise. Make sure you WIPE your tablet first, and perform a backup before starting, obviouisly.

No more upgrades for me unless Asus makes an advance announcement and provides a list of changes, improvements and what nots. Seems like we're being kept in the dark without so much as a hint of things to come. This lack of communication is not only frustrating, it's an attempt at improvement that for some of us creates a major setback.
Is there an Asus website that gathers problem cases from users and corresponding solutions that work? Would be nice if we can all just look up a problem and be directed at the right person/place for help.

No, really, Asus needs to fix ICS!!! We shouldn't have to go around trying tons of different ROMS to get something stable. We need to keep complaining to Asus!

This.
Moreover, last time I took a cursory glance at third-party AOSP builds they were all signed with the infamous AOSP testkey or built with ro.secure set to 0.
Sorry, but the security tradeoff far outweighs the (supposed) benefits.
There's a difference between free software and expensive engines..
And I will once again say, like I did in all other ICS complaint threads (stop making them..), my tablet works fine as intended. ICS is a huge relief from the (now terrible) Honeycomb interface and bad performance. Sure I have a reboot once in 14 or 15 hours, but is it a problem? No, because it happens either during the day or when it's in my backpack and never really during using it.

Hmm, excuse me, but I PAID for my Transformer - regardless if Android is free or not, I bought a products that was supposed to work properly. Right now, it doesn't.
I'm glad you are not having issues, but you are in the minority!! So just because you don't have issues, we should be happy?? Give me a break...

I agree with Jtrosky. You guys should be pissed as Hell. You should complain until your voice is raw and you get what you expect.
I only disagree with your coming to XDA to do it.
We are a modding community. One that is built for the devs, and only the Devs. Devs, who, I am sure, don't care that you have an issue with your device.
This isn't an ASUS forum. Complain to ASUS
This is forum clutter and needs to be closed and removed.
Alright I give up then. If you guys aren't willing to try an option that actually works, is free, and is EASY - fine. I was trying to be helpful and suggest a path that does work, but apparently you guys would rather just complain instead of actually doing something about it.
BTW, you realize that Asus has their own forums for supporting Transformer Tablets. If you really want to whine to them about their ****ty firmware, that is the appropriate place.
To answer your question, yes, downgrade to Honeycomb if you want. It's not going to kill you to not be on ICS. I don't think there's a single app out there that requires ICS. Upgrade back when you feel like it.
People are not complaining just to complain. They have a valid gripe. And whether you like it or not, the complaining on XDA got Asus involved (on XDA as well), so I see no reason why we can't discuss it here. You say we're complaining, we say we're giving feedback...
I've pleaded with Asus to PLEASE allow folks to downgrade to Honeycomb in an easy, support way. If they do that, this problem goes away. People have the option then. Stable or Cutting-edge...

Well, I reported the thread as spam and clutter. If they leave it open then I guess you are right and ill stop trying to get peeps to stop posting out about it. If they close it then how about you do the same and stop helping to clog the forum.
Sorry Guys whining about subjects like these is never productive... it may be cathartic , but not useful to the forum.........
...........THREAD CLOSED..........
