The best rom and setting - XPERIA X8 General

I want to hear from you too guys. What is best rom for you and what setting are you using like scripts, which kernel, tweaks etc.
including new roms like PrimeHD, FireDroid, GingerJHv etc.
It would be better if you could write like pros and cons including antutu score or similar otherwise its hard to understand anything just from one word or sentence without any explaining
dont make chaos here please

My favorite is Gdx
Pros:
-the smoothest scrolling ever
-perfect 2D
-nice 3D performance
-fast, stable and reliable(no FCs)
-everything is working
Cons:
-Huge battery drain!!!
I was on alfs v06 kernel running v6supercharger script oc @ 768mhz
Antutu: 1800+ (it has improved a lot for new roms especially 3D score)

Another cons for GDX is lack of updates. (I know doixanh its busy...)

Im using Firedroid v01 its super fast and usually gets over 700 3D score and a total of over 2000 in antutu with overclock 806 Mhz
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk

Im using ginger dx with stock kernel
not overclocked and
-its fast
-great for gaming
-works almost evrithing
-no1 for me gingerdx v022 by doixanh

I am using S-rom V8 with nAa v09 kernel.
-Fast
-Quite smooth
-No bugs
-Good for normal gaming.

IM PROUD
well im proud to say that i have this score @600mhz..how much more if i OC it..

ROM: gingerdx v022 (gonna change soon, getting bored of no new updates)
KERNEL: ALF'S V06
anTuTu:
RAM: 112
CPU integar: 193
CPU flow point: 150

3d graphics: 445
database IO: 130
SD card write: (3.5 MB/s) 35
SD card read (9.5 MB/s) 95

BTW i could change CPU frequency if i wanted but if it is above 700 my phone will reboot

The fastest rom so far is FireDroid 1.0 with ALFS 7 ICS. No need for scores - trust me on this one.

Well yes! dont be lazy! ;D but thats not the most important obviuosly, the most important is how stable and fast a ROM is!
I just thought maybe this will help for someone who doesnt know which rom to choose!
And I want to know too, what others think!

I've been using MinCM7-2.1.x for the last week or so now, seems to be very stable so far with the latest nAa kernel. Has pinch-to-zoom functions, everything working (e.g. camera, radio) and has nightly builds. Great ROM, fast as hell, well worth a look at!

Update on MiniCM7-2.1.9 benchmark results (this benchmark is NOT on a clean install / has many apps installed which probably isn't the best way to benchamrk this ROM, I will update results with results from a "clean" install);
Update:
As a fresh / clean install the score is nearly identical @ 1642 SCORE.

want to see

Currently using MiniCM 2.1.9 with Naa kernel and extremely happy with it.
AtiCM v3 was extremely fast for me but was unable to install Whatsapp so switched to MiniCM.

OK.... I just benchmarked the FireDroid 1.0 ROM. - Clean ROM install with Alfs07-ICS kernel (AnTuTu, Screenshot it and TaskManager installed only!). First thoughts is this ROM is super-fast and will be amazing with some more work. Not tested too much but the first thing I noticed was no support for HPSA, only able to use 3G. Pinch-to-zoom works perfectly. Camera works, not tested radio functionality.
Benchmark results below. I noticed the SD Card Read performance was low-ish after first benchmark (benhmark app installed to phone memory in the first benchamrk, then moved it to the SD Card and re-run the test which seemed to slightly improve the data speed but decreased other functions, both outputs below):
If HSPA was working in this ROM I would happily keep using it, but I'm going back to MiniCM7 for now!

I use ROM: Achotjan Semc Debrand Engine | V1.0_Beta-2 | FreeXperia Project |
-it's nice,
- fast,
- new,
- it's look like original 2.1.C.0.0 but it's original copy of Xperia Mini.
Bugs for now:
- (wifi- for someone works),
- USSD codes problem= com.android.phone it's not resposonding
Everything work fine!
You just need unlock bootloader, nAa v11 and be happy.

Not to mention, my highest quadrant scores (1600ish) come from the ROM that feels the least smooth overall for me. I'm using virt 2.6 right now and I get around 1400 on the first pass and it is the smoothest (scrolling, previews, in general not lagging when I try to do something) sense ROM I have used. God knows I've used them all at one point or another.
i got a 2200 quadrant and 90 mflops(on the older version of linpack) running jdfroyo, and i was overclocked to 2ghz.

I happen to agree. Its blazing fast. Still needs some things for me to be able to switch over to it, but I wouldn't mind going full time on a vanilla ROM.
The smoothest sense ROM Ive used is Virtuous, but the more feature packed roms like SR and CM have more stuff than I need.

Why do people place so much emphasis on Quadrant scores? Sounds like you're trying to compensate for something...
I'm getting 1300ish and my phone feels very snappy and quick. This is on Virtuous 2.6 and using the custom Virtuous kernel running @ 998 mhz.
Sounds like people turned this into a pissing contest, just like 3DMark on PCs. The one with the highest score doesn't necessarily feel the best, nor is it the most reliable. If you want the highest quadrant score, mod your phone by having a liquid nitrogen cooled CPU and figure out how to OC that sucker by 100% or more. I'm sure you'll be the envy of all your friends, even though they will be the ones who are actually able to use their phones for what they were meant for.
I'm running Ruby 1.1.1 and I get around 1350 which is about 150 less than what I was getting with stock froyo with KingKernel 1 overclocked to 1.15, but Ruby runs smoother and faster for me which will always matter more than a dumb benchmark number
Running virtuous 2.6 with KingxKernel BFS #4 gets me 1637 @ 1.19GHz, one of my friend gets 1693.

Works with MIUI, untested on cm7. Problem is with MIUI, the sliders aren't calibrated to the screen right so its tough to slide and get a good voltage.

EDIT: Voodoo Sound doesnt work, and it seems pretty choppy right now at 1.2 OC with MIUI
EDIT 2: OC'ed at 1.4 its flies. But 1.3 it was still choppy. Odd.
And just a request you think you could try Kanging voodoo color from the Escapist's kernel?

ya I have never run my phone at 1.4 but thats the only thing that makes MIUI not really choppy.
But it really has payed off its 100% stable for me and the fastest my phones ever been. Getting about 19.5-20 in Linpack, and just overall the phone flies.

Ha, yeah. It can be fun, reminds me of my 3Dmark days.
Nothing special, the score is from a few months ago.. I froze most of the services and closed everything (about 130mb ram used in task manager)
I was using Tegrak to OC. Settings were 1600mhz, 1400mv core, and 1125mv internal.
Beware, running your phone at these kind of voltages is dangerous and could kill your phone. At 1.6ghz it was not completely stable and would freeze after about 10-15min.
Yeah I can imagine mine barerly handles 1.4 and likes to freeze just running this app every 30 mins or so. Any scripts or anything if not man could only imagine if you ran the v6 script mine runs at around 120mb of ram in task manager 70 in the running services.

Benchmarks results

Hi guys, I have an arc S from a few weeks, after several tests I found a rom that flies in quadrant, these are the results:
4030 pts without overclocking
4739 pts with overclocking @ 2000 (v15 doom-Kernel)
All the other roms, including Cyanogen v 7.2, have a maximum in 2200-2500 pts.
The rom is SE-tweaked.
How can this difference in performance?
i bet that the guy that made that rom included the quadrant hack, nothin special imo.
probable, because the result is very high, there is a way to verify this?
However, the rom runs pretty fast and without lag, much better than the original.

Antutu is normal then, but good improvement compared to fully stock
Arconium 5.6 scored 3622 in first run and now my phone does some hevay background tasks and I only get ~3400
EDIT:
Now it are 3757 @ 1.4GHz smartassV2

I've got 3924 @ 1.6 GHz smartassV2 on my Arc S.
Nice, what ROM do you use?
Even if Benchmarks say nothing about real use, it's nice to compare
Yesterday I made one test @ 1.8GHz and scored 4285 points

Look in the signature, same ROM you're using.
I'll try 1,8 GHz too, but 2 GHz not any more, seems like my CPU can't handle it.

Nice, sorry. Tapatalk doesn't display signature so I can't see them.

When i do the Quadrant benchmark, my score is only like 2000...
I run Arconium 5.6, Supercharger v6, doomkernel v15 @ 1.4ghz?
Why is mine so damn low?
And can someone upload a screenshot of their benchmark with quadrant(A)?

It's totally normal to have that score.
The guy just used the quadrant hack, if you run different benchmarks (e.g. AnTuTu, Vellamo, etc.) you'll notice that your device is nearly the same to other results.
Ok ok, i always thought it was still not as fast as it could be... So this is max?( i don't want to OC more)
Cause i use regina as launcher, and when i turn back to home it sometimes have to load it all again...

What is maximum?
Quadrant scores between 1800 and 2400 are normal imo.
I mean like, cause i use arconium, doomkernel and supercharger i thought it would be faster... But getting scores around the 2000 is the maximum for me, or can i get it higher( without overclocking more )? I wanna play a lot of games with minimum lag
Quadrant scores say nothing!

Well i dont really know why but my Arc with doomkernel v15 @1.6GHz hit the score of 3982 at Antutu benchmark.. Maybe is the sd booster i use..

My V6 custom ROM - NOT released V6 yet.

ICS Roms Benchmarked

Used Quadrant Standard Edition 2.0
This was done on 3-28-2012. Pretty much all the ROMs have had new releases since then. So these benchmarks do not accurately reflect the current performance of the ROMs.
Full wipe procedure done before each flash.
Coldboot done for each ROM before running Quadrant. Not doing coldboot resulted in lower I/O score in some cases.
Testing was done using the default settings and kernel of the ROM. No kernels were flashed separately.
Overclock was tested only if the ROM and its default kernel supported it, using the maximum frequency allowed in the ROM's settings + force GPU rendering set to enable in developer settings.

Android 4.0.4 ROM
What the hell is going on with the 2D scores? Why is stock so far ahead of the others?
I dont have any fancy diagrams or tables like you but...
I ran quadrant on eos build 12 and got a total of 3.5k (average, 3 runs).
Settings: CPU at 1.4Ghz, no forced gpu rendering.
Breakdown:
cpu: 6200
memory: 3200
I/O: 6000
2D: 110
3D: 1800
Interesting though that stock ICS performs that well compared to the other roms.
So in raw performance there isnt much difference between custom and stock rom, until you start tuning the cpu.

Enabling "force GPU rendering" on other ROMs increases the 2d scores to around 400.

So is that stock rom doing that by default or what?

Probably.
I tested it again. Stock ROM is giving those scores without force gpu rendering
Funny thing, stock is way better with 2d rendering, EOS and CM9 are faster in I/O...
Yup, the reason EOS and CM9 have such high scores is because of the I/O. I wonder how perceivable the difference is to an average user.
Team EOS's has a tiny FPS lag when scrolling home screens despite its high score.
Just got a quadrant score of 4237 with CM9 lastest (28-03) and guevor test 4 kernel at 1640mhz.
Here's what I got. Pretty much same as yours.

So there was a bump in performance indeed.
---------- Post added at 06:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:49 PM ----------
Now theres a build out with Android 4.0.4 (march 29) Maybe even more performance increases.
CM9 keeps getting better and better.
Looking forward to 4.0.4 benchmarks vs 4.0.3!
There wasn't really any performance increase in 4.0.4. The changes probably had to do with something else.
CM9 March 28 version + stock kernel
CM9 March 29 version(Android 4.0.4) + stock kernel
Looks like the forced GPU rendering didn't score as high this time though; do you know the explanation? Just curious, not particular adept at computer stuff so unnecessary to answer if you don't have time..

I don't think you should give much thought to those minor differences.
The scores fluctuate way too much. Honestly, only 3 attempts don't give accurate averages.

Looks to me like it scored 8 higher... or are you comparing to the score when overclocked to 1.64GHz?
Frozn. Full wipe and coldboot as usual.
include revolver

I was waiting to the Frozn release but comparing its benchamark with the CM9 ones I think that I am going to continue using CM9.

yep. just checked on my cm9 with test8 kernel @ 1,7Ghz:
total: 4185, cpu: 8230, mem: 3274, io: 7466, 2d: 121, 3d: 1834
(2d is low, because 'force 2d' makes some apps flicker and also lowers all other stats in this bench )
so I think I'll stay on CM9
