I got my CDMA Hero on Boost Mobile about two months ago. My data speed is pretty much always at 1x, even though the donor is evdo capable. Although my phone may switch to evdo it is only for a few seconds, then switches back to 1x. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

for about a month now I have only been getting 1x connection where I live. I can get evdo if I put the phone on evdo only mode but that prevents me from getting text messages and incoming phone calls. Is anyone else having this issue? I called Sprint tech support and they said there are network issues nationwide and have no expected date for resolution. I am beginning to wonder if they are throttling the network due to the new evo users in the market(don't have 4g available). The problem is with other smartphones as well. If someone has a solution I'd really appreciate it.

Yesterday I talked to a few folks who work for a company called clear and they told me that (atleast for Saltlake city) they are broad casting the 4G signal for sprint phones as well as 3G so I don't think that you would be having issues because of the 4G out there. But I could be wrong.

This has been happening for months. And no, there is no setting you need to change in order to recieve 4G data speeds.
Just to let you know, it's not actual 4G either. Tmobile just markets it at 4G speeds because their HSPA+ is currently as fast/faster than Sprints wimax service. When Tmobile goes to LTE, then it will really be 4G
Since some people are guessing that Sprint's announcement tomorrow might be network-related, I have a general question about their network and towers. Say they did decide to switch to wimax 2 and/or evdo rev.B - how would that work?
Would evdo rev.B use the same frequency as rev.A, or a close enough frequency that existing phones would be able to take advantage of higher speeds?
What about that same compatibility and speed increase between wimax and wimax 2?
How is this actually done? Would sprint send new hardware/transceivers to each tower, then when they decide - magically turn them on?
Did they do an all-at-once upgrade like that when evdo rev.A replaced rev.0?
That might be like a kind of magic trick, just to suddenly give everyone faster speeds and could account for david blaine being at tomorrows event.

From day one, I have had isues with signal strength. It will be 6 bars one second and then no bars the next while in the same spot. Is there yet a solution?

Same here. I get the infinite sms and send failed all the time. Messed up thing is the only rom this doesn't happen to me in is stock. Go figure.

I have the same problem. Mine will go from perfect signal to the damn 1x icon with no bars and be so slow. Even though on in the same spot when I had full signal. It pisses me off.

If you install roam control from the market, it will force your phone to roam and in the process turn your phone into a verizon phone since you will be using there towers It solved all my reception issues, just be sure to check allow data roaming and you most likely will not have another problem with reception. Oh also you must be rooted for it to work

The 3g icon is displayed on my phone and actively in use since i enabled data roaming, so i dont see your point? Data is fast and reception is good, dont be a debbie downer

try testing your speed. just because the 3g icon is displayed doesn't mean you're getting it. and the contract between sprint and verizon stipulates that sprint customers roaming on verizons network are restricted to 1x speeds.

Im on wifi most of the time anyways, and when Im not (If I remember) I turn on 4g, so thats probably why I never noticed 3g being any different As far as signal strength, roam control does make you have excellent service for making calls, there is no denying that.
Basically I have tried stock reset using LG Flashing tool i have rooted and tried numerous roms, but the problem is i boot my phone it has 4gLTE full then 5 minutes in it switches to 3g network. I have called verizon and tried everything they told me. Also i have even tried and made sure it was on the correct network which is Global or CDMA/LTE
I wanted to know if any deveopler can help me here to figure out the issue with why its not staying connected to 4g?
One of two things. There is issues with the towers around u which would be a Verizon problem. Or its hardware related

its sounding like its hardware related before i upgraded to the LG g2 i had .. i even dialed *228 to locate towers my area is all red on 4glte and im right next to the tower
can someone please help me with this issue it is irritating me very much because i pay for 4glte not 3g ****

Have you tried a new SIM card? On some LTE devices dialing *228 can actually screw up the SIM data. You should try a new card.

Just got my G2 a couple days ago and I can confirm that I am having the same issue. I haven't found any fixes yet. It does seem that as long as I am actively using the data network, I keep 4g. Once I quit using data or go to wi-fi though, I switch back to 3g after a short period. Quick toggle of airplane mode and almost instantly connects back to 4g again, with the same results of dropping shortly thereafter.
I'm in a spotty area, 4G sticks on one bar and rarely reverts to 3G. Signal loss very rarely. Always comes back auto. Faulty modem sw, SIM, hardware, or towers.
I called lg about the issue they say it was Verizon's fault and there radios .. So they sent me the international version works perfect now I would recommend anyone here to drop Verizon they are **** and highly overpriced
