Basically I have tried stock reset using LG Flashing tool i have rooted and tried numerous roms, but the problem is i boot my phone it has 4gLTE full then 5 minutes in it switches to 3g network. I have called verizon and tried everything they told me. Also i have even tried and made sure it was on the correct network which is Global or CDMA/LTE
I wanted to know if any deveopler can help me here to figure out the issue with why its not staying connected to 4g?
One of two things. There is issues with the towers around u which would be a Verizon problem. Or its hardware related

its sounding like its hardware related before i upgraded to the LG g2 i had .. i even dialed *228 to locate towers my area is all red on 4glte and im right next to the tower
can someone please help me with this issue it is irritating me very much because i pay for 4glte not 3g ****
so no update on this no one having the same issues as me loosing 4glte and connecting to 3g
Have you tried a new SIM card? On some LTE devices dialing *228 can actually screw up the SIM data. You should try a new card.

Have you tried any of the different radios / modems? Might be worth a shot.

Just got my G2 a couple days ago and I can confirm that I am having the same issue. I haven't found any fixes yet. It does seem that as long as I am actively using the data network, I keep 4g. Once I quit using data or go to wi-fi though, I switch back to 3g after a short period. Quick toggle of airplane mode and almost instantly connects back to 4g again, with the same results of dropping shortly thereafter.
I'm in a spotty area, 4G sticks on one bar and rarely reverts to 3G. Signal loss very rarely. Always comes back auto. Faulty modem sw, SIM, hardware, or towers.
I called lg about the issue they say it was Verizon's fault and there radios .. So they sent me the international version works perfect now I would recommend anyone here to drop Verizon they are **** and highly overpriced

I just got the S4 upgrading from the Epic (still a good phone) and it is phenomenal. I live in a part of Austin that has Sprint's new 4G LTE area so I am able to get on the network. I have seen that it is able to connect to the network, but I am unable to recieve data or send data even though it shows it is an active working system. Anyone else??

Are you completely stock? Have you done anything to your phone that may affect it?
And are you getting multiple bars? I remember when I was in SF and I'd be right at the edge of the network, so I was connecting to 4G but I was hardly doing it, and I wouldn't be able to use data.
You might have a faulty radio? Check to make sure your within range, and does 3G work fine for you?

If you are stock, I would also try updating your profile and PRL. Menu>Settings>More>System Update>Update Profile and then the same for PRL.
remember lte is still being worked on and you could easily be trying to connect to a tower that isn't fully operational yet.
Hi guys I searched the forums and didn't see any mention of this besides somebody with a Sprint version of the phone talking about it. I bought an AT&T G2 D800 over the phone with them, they shipped it to me and it was fine for a day or so until AT&T rolled out the D80010o firmware then my phone started getting strange battery drains and in call volume setting keeps reverting back to 90% every time I reset the phone, so I brought it in and exchanged it for a new one. Herein lies the problem.
On this new G2, I noticed that every time I would go to make a call, the signal drops down from 4GLTE to just regular 4G. That never happened to the phone I brought in to exchange. Granted I don't remember making a call before I did the firmware update so I can't say for sure if it did it before the software update but I doubt it since the notes on AT&T's site said it was mainly making the phone ISIS capable. The reason I noticed the difference right away was because up until that point I'd never seen the 4G icon on the G2, so I saw it right away. I was still in my car testing the phone so I came back into the store to ask them if that was normal, they said it was. One guy even said it happens to his iPhone too. Since there was 3 of them saying it was normal, I walked back out. I went home and did some more research and it seems like the G2 supports "LTE (SVLTE, CSFB, CA, VoLTE, RCS, MIMO)" taken from: www lg com/global/g2/sub3 html (sorry it won't let me post outside links) and also like I said, my previous G2 didn't do that.
I need help confirming from other AT&T LG G2 D800 owners that their phone doesn't do the same thing, that when you make a voice call in an area where you're getting 4GLTE, the radio doesn't drop down to just regular 4G. The minute I hang up it goes back up to 4GLTE and I'm staying still in one spot so it's coverage, and my entire has always had LTE coverage. Please let me know before I bring it in for another exchange as the AT&T I went to the customer service was terribad, I'd like to go in there with certainty so that if push comes to shove, I'll just tell them to open a new G2 and test it on the spot to see if it does that. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
Confirmed on the 4GLTE -> 4G on voice call -> 4GLTE.
Never paid attention b4 and don't know whether it supposed to be that way or not.
And yes, with the D80010o firmware, battery seems to drop quicker than expected
Thanks for the quick response and apparently being the only LG G2 D800 owner on this forum. Yeah I haven't updated this phone yet and battery once again runs like a champ.

Your phone will drop to 4G until VoLTE (voice over LTE) rolls out possibly next year. It's been like this for a while, so don't think there is something wrong with the device.

I know this is a bit off topic but is there a separate 4G LTE icon in the notification (status) bar? All my other phones have had the 4G LTE icon there when I'm at home but this phone always says 4G
You guy the software of lg g2 if really bad your phone does not know when to change to 3g 4g or 4lte its not just att is all lg g2 the update is supposed to fix it but that wont happened as you can see. Try to update prifile and prl to see if it help.... mines its fine now after i update
And if you are using a custom rom you may have to do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569237

Nope, there isn't. The 4GLTE disappears the the 4G icon replaces it at the same spot or vice versa. I'd try turning off the phone for a while and then turning it back on, or swap out the SIM. The guy at my AT&T store told me sometimes it's an activation thing where it can take a day or two to be "fully" activated and get full 4GLTE.

Thanks... not quite sure what you're talking about with the link though but I'm on AT&T... AT&T/T-Mobile are GSM and don't have PRLs to update... that's a CDMA Verizon/Sprint thing.
Updated my phone (VZW LG G2) to the latest software patch that went out recently (Dec 20/21?) and now my phone will default to 3G service more often than 4G LTE. My home gets very strong LTE service and I could speedtest up to 20mbps at times on it. After I updated, however, my phone will connect to 3G about 90% of the time. Rarely does it connect to LTE. This isn't just at my home, so I don't think it's a local tower issue as I've had the same problem in town as well.
Has anyone else encountered a problem with LTE connectivity after updating to VS98012B?
edit: If I switch on airplane mode and then turn it off, sometimes it will switch back to LTE.
Flashed modem only here, no problems.
If you are still on pure stock, call Verizon and let them address it for you.
I've been searching for this problem as well. My wife's HTC One is sitting beside my G2 Rick solid on LTE, and mine is stuck on 3g. This only seems to happen in the house, so maybe hers just gets a better signal than the G2. On the rare occasion I do get lte, my speed tests are always much slower than hers. I know it's not an lte problem because out in town with a stronger signal I can get about 40 Mb d/l

Yup, I have the same issue after upgrading to vs98012B. Mine is rooted by the way.

I'm not seeing this problem. In fact, it's the opposite for me. I'm rooted and didn't want to go through the hassle of losing my custom recovery, so I waited until a stock, rooted version of 12B released. I flashed it as well as the corresponding 12B modem zip. I live in a fringe LTE area and it was not uncommon for me to see 3G in my house. Since the upgrade I've only been seeing LTE. I'm very happy with this update.
I've noticed today seems like I'm stuck on 3g

Ever since I took OTA update I cannot get the LTE to stay locked on it keeps going back to 3g. My wife has the same phone and hers stays in LTE. So I know it isn't the towers. She took the OTA update also. The only difference is mine is rooted on the new KK. Anyone else have that problem? Sorry I'm on Verizon Network VS980 4gG LTE
Well I downgraded back to Jelly Bean VS98012B and stayed stock without root and still have the same problem with LTE. I switched Airplane mode off and then back on and I get LTE with 2 bars then it goes back to 3g with 2 bars. I wonder if its the phone or if I am being throttled by Verizon?
Well I seem to be answering my own questions. Turns out my sim card is bad. I tried my wife's and the phone went to LTE and stayed. I put mine in her phone and it stayed 3g. So hope this helps anyone else that would experience this. Glad its not the phone.

I'm actually having the same thing... keeps switching to 3G randomly, after a reboot it'll go to 4G LTE and usually stay, but often if I make a call, or do something it'll switch back to 3G for some time, then maybe go back to 4G... stock KK rooted here too
Did the SIM card fix it for you permanently? I may try getting a new one if so.
I'll second this. Had the same problem. New sim card and bam, fixed. For some reason I think going to international ROMs (cloudy and optimus) caused this.... The 3g roaming thing.. which is a shame because their ROMs are freaking awesome.

Yeah I went to my local mom & pop Verizon store and the idiot behind the counter said my old LTE sim card wasn't NFC ( Near Field Communications) complaint. Why is he an idiot that's another story. But I don't know how NFC has anything to do with the sim card. Anyway I bought a new one because they weren't a official Verizon store, supposedly the official store will give you a new sim card. But now the phone works like it is suppose too.

So i tried everything from airplane mode, restart, removal of google accounts, cache and data deleted for the store, play services, framework, and even factory reset. It still doesn't work on t-mobile anymore and i don't know why i haven't seen this issue before until this afternoon today for me (9 hours ago dealing with this problem). Can i get any advice onto getting this issue fixed. Somewhat parts of this issue come from "error 500" but i have full 4-5 bars of LTE+ signal so i don't know what's the problem. Data saver isn't on either and the play store and the rest are allowed mobile data usage.
This is also happening to me. Galaxy S8+ T-Mobile

4g is just 4th generation of cell towers. 4g LTE is 4th generation Long Term Evolution. But 4g is more stronger by speed, but costs signal. 4g LTE in the other hand, has better bandwidth, and greater speeds, but can drop instantly/very low in signal in certain areas. Certain carriers use different 4g towers as well, like metropcs and t-mobile use WCDMA, while sprint and a couple others use CDMA and some other ones. Different names, but different frequencies and bands.
