[Q] Windows Mobile 6.1 + WIFI + No Sim + Free Outbound Calls - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi please help. I have an unlocked phone (Windows Mobile 6.1) with no sim card that I am able to surf the net on my WIFI, but have not figured out how to make a call. I am able to sign in to my Gmail account where I have GV and can dial a number. It calls my home phone, which is what it is set up to do.
My question is what do I need to add to get a free phone number and then my GV can call it, which would be my cell phone? Do I need anything else? Again, just looking for a reliable and FREE way to make outbound calls to anyone in the US. Meaning not Skype or Fringe where free calls are to other members.
Thanks!

T-mobile web'b'walk max (UK)

Hi, does anybody have this plan? I cannot get a straight answer from T-mobile. It says that you have unlimited surfing (well 'unlimited' to 10GB anyway) and voip eg skype. I cannot find out if the Skype is restricted to Skype users only (as '3' do) or if it is completely unrestricted I want to make calls to international numbers on Skype using my Skype account. Can anybody give me a straight answer?

the web`n`walk max is unrestriced from what i understood and not based on Skype account
yes, cyberjak, but do you have this account and have you dialled an international number?
You're using a data connection through Skype's client software irrespective of the number your dialing.
The data doesn't cost any extra.
You don't get charged extra for sending e-mails or MSNing to someone in another country. Why would Skype be any different?
Hi Slave1, my question is not about the charges, it is: does T-mobile block dialing through Skype the same as '3' does. Do you have the max plan?
My priceplan is slightly better that WnW Max. But I don't know anyone who lives in another country and only use Skype to Skype calls (I'm a cheap skate and get very cheap calls on my mobile).
If you have WnW Max you also have Free Hotspot access. Send OPEN via SMS to 9526 to retrieve your HotSpot username and password. If this doesn't work call 150.
'My priceplan is slightly better that WnW Max' but cheaper ?
I know there are ways to get through the Skype block but I mainly want the plan for cheap international calls and I dont have a landline in my apartment. If I pay for the max plan I want to make sure it will do what I want. I have no problem finding people telling me what the plan should do (mostly they are on commision)
I have the Web N Walk Plus (Max) with my Vario III, this is what I have come across so far...
Skpe, doesn't work for me although as I understand it this maybe a software issue with the Vario III and not T-Mobile?
International, I was asked to pay a £250 deposit to have International call roaming activated - I told them to stick it
HPDPA, Wonderful and I also use it with my laptop for browsing have no idea about max download as I don't download that much.
@ gazzacbr
Order it off the website. Do it by 5ish today and you should have it tomorrow. Try Skype if it doesn't work how you want it to, send it back (you have 7 days to request this - called a DSR return, but ONLY from the website or telephone sales).
There you go, advice and no commision
ok thanks for (free) advise, Slave1. Maybe I will just try it and see.
StellaDell, I have a HTC Kaiser which is the same as the Vario III and have no problems running Skype on the web'n'walk daily plan. The version I have is SkypeForPocketPC 2.2.037 off their site. Install it from a PC connected by ActiveSync.
I have had my t-mobile PAYG for many years and roaming was activated for free a long time ago. I assume the £250 is to stop you running off with the phone if its a new contract.

VOIP on O2 XDA Orbit 2??

Hi All,
I'm new to smart phones, and I'm pushing my comfort zone a little here, so please bear with me!
I've just got a new XDA Orbit 2 on O2 in the UK (which I believe is virtually the same as the Polaris, with a bit of customisation by O2) and I'm trying to get VOIP working over wifi (I have no interest in using it over 3G - this is a banned activity by the network provider).
I've tried to follow instructions on this forum, but seem to have got stuck.
I've downloaded and installed WM6VoIP.CAB and SetupVoIP_V0.3.CAB, and after some playing I think I've managed to get the right settings into SetupVoIP - it now says on the Today screen "Internet Calling: Available".
However, when I try to make a call, it still says service provider is O2, and calls are being routed over their network - even though I've got it set to use the internet "Whenever available" (I've even tried turning off the "phone" so that the only option is to route calls over the internet, but it didn't - it was just unable to make the call).
Has anyone sucessfully got VoIP working on this version of the phone? If so could you please help me - it would be really useful if I could use VoIP from home where I've got WiFi!!!!
I have a VoIP account with voiptalk.org
Many thanks for your help
Charlie
same here...
bump!
Please help someone!!!
If it says Internet Calling: Available. Tap it and it will change to Internet Calling: Selected. Then calls will be routed through your WiFi
Is there no SIP client that brings VOIP to Windows Mobile?
Try Agephone Mobile 2. Best VOIP software I've tried to date.

WM VOIP and local calls

I have used sip config tool to set up my voip account. When I set internet call to whenever available I can just make international calls. I cant get through to the local and mobile calls. Does my tel company cut off all the voip service to local calls? or I need to do some setting? However the agephone does work with both local and mobile calls. Thanks for your help.
I would guess the dialing plan needs to be configured?
get back to us with your findings
Also, does it use the external speaker?
WM voip uses internal speaker. When I check the dialplan.xml, nothing is in this file.

Are you realy sure? i have tried a couple of voip cabs to initialize internet calling. but the client uses the rear speaker.. and not the front speaker (the one wich you normally use for calling)
If youve got this working.. plz tell me wich cab you had used!

MDA Vario 2 not calling or texting but doing everything else

I purchased an MDA Vario 2 off a 3rd party seller on Amazon just before christmas, when i put my T Mobile PAYG sim in it did everything except call and text, it can still connect to internet through wifi and gprs/3g and do everything else, just no calls or texts, when I try to call it from my landline I get 'calls to this number are currently not being connected'. When i try to call out, I get 'call ended' on 0:00 time when i try to text, it just wont send. I've done a hard reset, called T Mobile to check if it's blacklisted which it isn't, tried a different T Mobile sim and attempted to flash a ROM, I don't really know if it worked or not and when I've been trying to do it recently, i connect via activesync, run the program downloaded from the T mobile website, the phone goes into the 3 colour screen with USB at the bottom and then the computer tells me it's not connected. The seller has been very cooperative, and I can see it was working when she had it because there were call times to her old numbers.
I don't seem to be able to access call barring, caller id, call forwarding or call waiting settings, it tells me the setting couldn't be read from the network, if that helps at all?
Anyone suggest where I turn next?
My ROM version is 1.22.110.3
My radio version is 1.47.30.10
I'm trying on T Mobile PAYG UK
Edit: I've just tried swapping both my sims to my old phone (moto v535) to try and make some calls and they both now give me 'call failed' (including the brand new one, i've just activated and has only been in the MDA for a few hours tryna get it to work) yet still show 3-4 bars of signal. does this make any difference to diagnosing the problem?

[q] help me & i will pay you via paypal

I am willing to pay someone to help me setup my unlocked Windows Mobile 6.5 I637 phone with no sim card to make FREE outbound and inbound calls via my WIFI connection. My phone has a fresh 6.5 OS install and can readily surf the net. I can also currently use my Google Voice account to make calls via my phone, but it calls my home line, which is what it is setup to do currently. I don't think this will be very difficult for someone who has some experience. I have tried figuring it out by myself and now believe it will be worth paying someone to help me. Please PM me to my account here and we can go from there. I will pay after it is complete. I realize that this will be based on a honor system. Have no worries if it works I will honor my side. You will need a Paypal account.
