VOIP on O2 XDA Orbit 2?? - Touch Cruise ROM Development

Hi All,
I'm new to smart phones, and I'm pushing my comfort zone a little here, so please bear with me!
I've just got a new XDA Orbit 2 on O2 in the UK (which I believe is virtually the same as the Polaris, with a bit of customisation by O2) and I'm trying to get VOIP working over wifi (I have no interest in using it over 3G - this is a banned activity by the network provider).
I've tried to follow instructions on this forum, but seem to have got stuck.
I've downloaded and installed WM6VoIP.CAB and SetupVoIP_V0.3.CAB, and after some playing I think I've managed to get the right settings into SetupVoIP - it now says on the Today screen "Internet Calling: Available".
However, when I try to make a call, it still says service provider is O2, and calls are being routed over their network - even though I've got it set to use the internet "Whenever available" (I've even tried turning off the "phone" so that the only option is to route calls over the internet, but it didn't - it was just unable to make the call).
Has anyone sucessfully got VoIP working on this version of the phone? If so could you please help me - it would be really useful if I could use VoIP from home where I've got WiFi!!!!
I have a VoIP account with voiptalk.org
Many thanks for your help
Charlie

same here...

bump!
Please help someone!!!

If it says Internet Calling: Available. Tap it and it will change to Internet Calling: Selected. Then calls will be routed through your WiFi

Is there no SIP client that brings VOIP to Windows Mobile?

Try Agephone Mobile 2. Best VOIP software I've tried to date.

GPRS On O2 UK, Y is it not working?

Hi all, I hope someone can help with this,
I have tried to all O2 using 100 (but this keeps getting disconnected automatically) so I have to call as 0845 number which uses my minutes + I was waiting 30 minutes to speak to someone and when i eventually did get through they hung up (I am well Pi***d off with o2). Anyhow
I want to connect to the net using GPRS, however no GPRS symbol is displayed and if i try, i get a message saying "No moden at above number" any help would be great.
Cheers
Matt
Right, couple of things to suggest.
Firstly (and I know this sounds stupid)....O2 have recently installed new call centre handling "things" which SHOULD route your call more efficiently but as they have been put in by IBM (also, responsible for more recent "good inovations" in O2) the bits aren't working v well! - trust me as I speak from experience and "from the horses mouth" - I work for them!
So chill when you do get through....the staff on the phones are getting major grief from customers, dealers and fellow staff members (mainly store staff) because it's taking ages......It's not their fault!!
Anyway, back to your problem.....you haven'y said whether you got a new connection or an upgrade.....if it's the latter did you ahve GPRS on your previous phone and did it work?
If it's a new connection then GPRS hasn't been provisioned for some reason (although it can tkae 48 hrs max from connection to go through), same goes if it was an upgrade and you never used GPRS on the old phone.
Give me the answeres to these questions and I'll give you my best guess!
Mike
Check settings
I use this site for settings:
http://www.filesaveas.com/index.html
I would also suggest that you check that GPRS has actually been enabled by O2 for you. I had problems with MMS not being enabled although I HAD asked for it.
Thanks Mike for your responce, and I promise not to go ape at your colleagues.
I have a new account with O2, connected today, however seems strange that it could take upto 48hrs to get GPRS active, I was recently with ORANGE and as soon as I activated the phone (a SPV) the GPRS was active there and then. Ah well I will wait the 48hrs and hopefully it will come active sometime soon.
As an O2 employee, you may be able to assist on this query. As a paymonthly customer on O2 400, I am supposted to call 100 from my XDAII to call CS, but when I do this I get disconnected automatically as if the number is dead, any ideas?
Many thanks for your help.

An update on the aboe. I have managed to sort this problem out, I did a soft reset and when rebooted I noticed the phone settings were on Germany, changed it to UK and GPRS works fine.
Matt
for anyone searching with this problem
MODEM NOT FOUND AT DIALED NUMBER
1. phone CS on 0845 and make sure GPRS is on! (APN provisioning for mobile web access (you can 'check' on the 100 number, but they can't turn it on for you)
2. 3.30pm is the 'switch over' time, so soft reboot after this time each day (
up to 24hrs) ...... phone again if still not on !
3. GERMANY is default if you go to MY XDA - connections. it will always be on Germany. but the wizzard should of set it to UK when you first set it
Do you have the correct settings for wap over gprs, email over gprs using O2 payg sim with free gprs pages and wap.
Is there any portal to get the settigs to the O2 phone directly?

GPRS blocks incoming voice calls !!

Hi All,
I'm using an Q2 XDAII mini.
I find that when I am connected to GPRS and I am downloading a web page, ie. data is being transmitted through the GPRS link, incoming voice calls will get rejected.
However, once the web page download is complete and the GPRS link is idle, an incoming voice call comes through fine.
My previous phone was a SE P900 and if a call came in while I was actively downloading data, the phone would prompt me and ask if I wanted to drop the GPRS connection - that was great!
I know that this is an issue with the XDA as it is a Class B mobile. I wanted to know if others have had this issue and if there are any updates/patches/hacks out there that could get around this.
Thanks
Hi All,
Any ideas ?
Same problem. Any workaround or patches ?

T-mobile UK - On a custom WM6 ROM....MMS? Voicemail?

Hey all,
(T-mobile UK btw)
I've been using a WM6 rom I got here ages ago for my Hermes. It's been a great performance boost in that it's cut down and slimline so seems to free up a little more program menu...
However there have been some persistent problems I haven't fixed yet....
I managed to set up Web 'n' Walk with some general settings I found on the internet...but I can't get MMS or voicemail to work.
For voicemail I dial 121, get the same 'the settings have been sent to your phone' and a text arrives saying 'Network Pers' but it never works, not on deleting or rebooting - think it only works on 'normal' phones. Anyway I can then usually ultimately get through to voicemail. Although it stops all the links to voicemail from the handset working.
MMS is the really anoying thing however.
I've noticed one additional problem...which is that now incoming calls terminate my internet connection to web'n' walk and I don't think that was the case before.
Lastly if anyone is using t-mobile UK can I ask them to recommend a good radio rom as the one I'm using seems to have some (occasional) conenction issues and a cracky line - especially if the other person's phone isn't too hot either but I do also occasionally get it on landlines.

Radio ROM - 1.50.00 was ripped from the official T-M UK WM6 upgrade (so I'm lead to believe). Anyway, it's a great Radio for T-Mobile.
MMS - you need to set the MMS up separately from Internet, then send an MMS to yourself (and check it was received) before others can send an MMS to you.
Voicemail - just hold down the 1 key on the virtual keypad, should work.
Terminating calls - If you're using GPRS, an incoming call will terminate the data connection. Only 3G can operate data and voice simultaneously (and sometimes the data call still drops)
If all else fails, use the official WM6.0 ROM from the T-Mobile upgrade website (http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/sa_vario.html), this will include the 1.50.00 Radio ROM and is guaranteed to work as soon as you've called your voicemail and sent an MMS to yourself. I've used CRC's 13.0 WM6.1 ROM with no issues, however.

BT Openzone connection failure

Hi,
Relatively new on here so i hope i'm not asking an already answered question?
Search result was nagative so here goes.....
Just took on an O2 bolt on for wifi with BT Openzone and The Cloud. Tried to use BT Openzone for the first time and i cannot get connected.
I select O2 from the drop down list which redirects me to an O2 page requesting my mobile number as log in. After entering this it will not recognise the number and tells me to try again or to call customer service.
As my HD was bought sim free and O2 do not sell this phone, they can't help.
I did read that some people with i-phones had similar problems and this was apparently down to IP addresses?
Working away from home and need to use Skype for calls home.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Anyone got any ideas?
Sounds like an O2 problem to me. They probably haven't setup your account properly. And not helping because its a Touch HD is rubbish as they gave me support on setting mine up a few weeks ago. They are even ment to be getting the HD on their network soon anyway!
I'd give them a call and don't say that you have the HD see what they saY!

[Q] Help! CSD not working?!

Hey, guys, I'm trying to connect to the internet through CSD data bearer. Using Omnia, WM 6.1. I input all the needed settings provided by the operator, but it seems that the phone can't even call the data number (in my case it is 1000). I tried with two GSM service operators - Globul and Vivacom, but to no avail. I wrote an e-mail to the Globul's support regarding this issue and they said that they were also unable to connect to CSD using the Omnia. So I think this is an issue with Windows Mobile itself. Maybe some hidden settings or registry tampering is required? I hope you guys are qualified enough to give me some feedback on this problem. Thanks!
Here is a video of what happens (ot more accurately - what doesn't happen):
