Help troubleshooting Atrix - Atrix 4G General

As of yesterday I get no display on my screen. This happened after I dropped my phone - it caught on my headphone cable and didn't actually hit the floor but it must have still received a pretty hard jerk.
I can confirm that the phone is 100% fully functional in all other respects - other than the screen. If I plug it into my lapdock, I get a proper display on the lapdock and everything works perfectly.
The screen is also "on" as the backlight is on but there's just nothing displaying on the screen. The screen (or body for that matter) is also not cracked anywhere nor is there water damage on the phone. The touch also works just fine as I found out when it woke me up in the morning and I spent a good 15 minutes poking and prodding random parts of the screen to disable the alarm.
Anyways, I've already acquired an LG Nitro HD which is an okay phone but its not an Atrix. I really love my Atrix and even buying a new Atrix just wouldn't be the same.
Any suggestions/ideas on possible fixes? I'm up for opening the phone or purchasing parts - I even have the right sized screw drivers. I just don't want to open it up with no plan or idea of what I should be tampering with or replacing.

[Q] Desire HD - Random screen behaviour

Has anyone else found that occasionally the screen starts going mad? I will unlock the phone and suddenly it starts going into various menu options, brings up a browser or brings up widget settings. It's as if there is an invisible finger using the screen, although it's so fast it's as if there is a buffer of actions.
I'm not sure what causes it, but a colleague has a Samsung Galaxy and reckons he gets it when moisture gets on the screen. My screen has never been wet or near anything wet.
Additionally, I've noticed it was happening just now when I was charging the phone via USB. When I unplugged it the behaviour stopped.
Anyone else?

Never had that before , maybe a application you installed that is acting wierd?
I had a application installed that just drained my batt like hell.
I also reboot the phone after heavy duty, meaning using the explorer , games, ....
me too!
I'm getting the same problem at the moment. It takes me about 5 attempts to unlock the screen. Once I'm in, sometimes it responds to my touch, sometimes it doesn't, other times it just does random stuff. It's making the phone totally unusable .
I got the phone on Monday (3 days ago) this is the first time it happened. I'm sat in a cafe atm and it's quite humid in here; if it's a problem with moisture could the humidity explain it?
I once had a similar problem with an ipod touch after it had been in a bag with a leaking water bottle. It went OK by itself after a few hours.
Anybody else got any thoughts?
Thanks
Damian.
The thing that I had to get used to was gripping the phone properly. The lower right quarter of my right hand is a bit chubby, so when I gripped the phone my palm ended up wrapping around the phone and resting on the screen somewhat. This would result in the screen not always unlocking right, sometimes selecting widgets and icons on my homescreen, restricting scrolling in the browser and random text entry.
Since I've altered my grip I don't get those problems any more.
My tattoo does this all the time....
Looks like exposing the phone to extreme conditions like heat or humidity makes this...
I used to keep my phone next to my Burning furnace i7 HP laptop and there is an LCD leak now on the screen :-(...since i noticed the leak, the phone started behaving more cranky....
update ...
Just to give an update, my phone is OK again now. By the time I got home a few hours later it had sorted itself out.
It's a HTC Desire HD, btw.

I had the same problem when I used a non-HTC charger.
Same problem here happens when charging with the original charger, when tyring another HTC charger with the same model number the problem is gone.
My guess is the charger that came with the phone is defective.
A workaround: I'm using a case for my DHD, when this problem happens I can get the screen to act normal by keeping the phones body (metal part) in direct contact with my hand.

[Q] Screen Repair - only backlight works (can't pinpoint the problem)

Mods, sorry if I should've posted this in another sub-forum. Just getting to this quickly as I've gotta head out, but would like to know/get any advice on what to do.
My T-Mo G2 just stopped displaying data on the screen one day, but the backlight still worked. It wasn't dropped at the time it stopped working (it was dropped previously, but was inside an Otterbox Commuter case at the time... thought that may not be saying much). At the time this happened, I was working outdoors, had the phone in my pocket, and was sweating while doing somewhat heavy lifting. When I attempted to use my phone, I noticed that only the backlight would turn on when I powered it on.
I could still answer calls by using the touchscreen slide-to-answer thing (purely by memory), so I know that component works. Sliding the keyboard open did nothing.
I disassembled the phone to check for any components that could've gotten twisted, burned out etc..., but this didn't appear to be the case. Any ideas?
I've attached a video on what happens when I power on my device. Any advice would help. Replacing the LCD seems to be the cheapest fix, but I don't want to buy one and realise it could be something else. Thanks!

Touchscreen problems (phone off local classifieds)

Recently upgraded from a Captivate. Picked up an Atrix for $240 ish off Kijiji, and after trying out in the car for a quick phone call seemed fine.
Until i got home, and realized that the screen is done.
No box just the phone and cable so not sure if i can send it in for warranty. Thus i figured i can either sell the phone for a loss and grab a much crappier phone. OR i can repair it and just use it.
So there's a certain panel at the bottom that doesn't seem to be too reactive, and doesn't register touch from time to time, as well as towards the top corners of the screen any pressure would result in random touches being registered towards the bottom of the screen - seen using touchtest app off the market today to pinpoint my touch problems.
Video illustrates my problems - sorry about quality - video taken using a piece of .... blackberry.
I figure the digitizer is seated wrong wondering if a seating is needed or a whole new one? Or if it's a different problem all together.
I figured it's more viable i just repair it, as the phone is quite fast if it weren't for the stupid screen I'd love it (also lack of case and screen protector is annoying - but I already ordered them!) .
Any advice would be great!

[Q] Touchscreen Randomly Stopped Working

Ok, so first thing's first. I've been researching this for a few days now before creating this post. The touchscreen issues I'm finding online, are similar to what I'm experiencing, but the solutions have already been done, or my phone is not responding to them. I'm making this thread to see if anyone else has experienced the same issues or has any new news before I a) return my phone to stock, b) replace the digitizer, or c) buy a new one or upgrade to the G3.
My G2 was rooted, but kept on stock ROM with only small tweaks here and there. After the latest update, I noticed my work G2 had much better reception, so I returned my phone to stock to download the update. After updating, I re-rooted the phone, this time, the only thing I changed was the keyboard which I replaced with the G3 keyboard. Everything was fine for months until about a month ago.
It started with not being able to pull down the notification shade on the right half. No biggie, but after a week or so, it got worse. While using instagram, I noticed that the confirm button was sporadically responsive. Sometimes it worked fine, other times it didn't work at all. It began to progressively get worse on an almost daily basis. I decided to see what was going on and enabled both input options in the developer options menu. I found that the entire right side, about 1/8" was not responding to touch, the area not covered by glass screen protector( i removed it later while trying to troubleshoot). The upper right area showed about a half inch block that wasn't responding (the area where the data ribbon is). I was ok with that as instagram was really the only thing I used being affected.
About a week ago, the mid left screen area started being errratic. It began to get worse and started to affect the front touch screen buttons ( the area where the other data ribbon is). I enabled the input options again and saw that I now had a good portion of my left side of the screen was unresponsive. Even though I didn't drop it, I thought maybe the data ribbons had come loose as those 2 areas are where they are. I opened and disassembled the phone and re-sat the connctions after inspecting them. I double-checked all the other connections and LDIs in case humidity was the culprit. Everything looked good. Didn't fix the problem.
I've had to set my phone to unlock by facial recognition to ensure I don't get locked out, and changed my pin to use numbers not affected. I'm going to replace the digitizer, but wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue, or knew if it was, indeed, a software issue before I spend $75 (I will be replacing the digitizer and LCD to get it working sooner rather than risk damaging the LCD while replacing the digitizer and having to wait another week). I don't want to send it in to LG because I bought it on ebay and have no proof of purchase for warranty, and I want it working sooner.
One thing I noticed that may help with diagnosing, the screen now looks different when off. Before, in direct sunlight, you could see the dotted matrix from the digitizer, and that was it. Now, I can see the retangular pattern across the entire screen. I checked my work G2 which I just received a few months ago and the rectangular pattern is only visible on the edges of the screen, the center is black with only the dotted matrix visible. Keep in mind, this is in direct sunlight. In shade, the rectangles are visible on both.
I'm hoping it's a software issue, but I'm wondering if the digitizer is starting to separate from the LCD. I don't see any acutal separation though.
Thanks for reading the book, and for any feedback. Also, because it will probably come up, I want to avoid upgrading if I can because the G3 is just a little too big.
I restored the phone to stock with the most up to date software. Still doesn't work. It appears to be a hardware issue. I really thought it was software because the dead spots word for a split second after turning on the phone. Oh well. Guess I'm going to order a new digitizer or LCD combo.

Retrieving Info From Moto Z Force With Broken Screen

I need some help getting some things off my old phone that has a screen that doesn't work. I was on vacation not too long ago and my Moto Z Force bit the dust, just wouldn't turn on anymore. I knew I needed a new phone and was having problems with it, most notably the battery. All my stuff was on there, including my boarding passes to get home, so I stopped by a Verizon in Hawaii and bought the most expensive souvenir I'll ever buy on vacation. All was well and good until recently, when I forgot about getting things I need off the phone, both things for my business and personal stuff.
Long story short, I tried to replace the battery myself and totally ****ed up the screen in the process. The battery works and the phone now turns on, I can occasionally hear it start up and feel it vibrate if I keep playing with things. But the screen is a complete loss, mostly due to my lack of patience and insistence on using too much force. The ribbon is actually intact, but the screen itself is not. I didn't have debugging on because an app I use requires it to be off, but my computer does recognize the phone and charges it. I'm open to buying a new screen if need be, but I'd like to make sure it would work before I spend the money. Occasionally the phone will keep vibrating every few seconds, but that seems to have gone away now. The screen will also show random white or green lines if the phone is on and you bend it or twist it a certain way.
How can I get things off of it without the screen?
If this is in the wrong section, I apologize.
You could use the Moto snap Projector and a mouse...
