Like the topic says my hardware keyboard is not working. My e, d, x, i, and l keys do not do anything when pressed. Reset didn't fix. The touch keyboard works but i got this hone for the hardware keyboard and now i wish i just waited for the titan.
Anybody experiencing similar issues? Does anybody know how to fix it?

This is something you need to call Dell about.
Around July/August of last year I had my spacebar stop working and I had to have my phone replaced. I've got a couple keys going again now but my warranty is up. Getting pretty quick using the touch keyboard!
Hi,
I am having the same problem..mine y u h j b n keys are gone..u got any solution?
Thanks,
Vatsal
Glad to see there are more people experiencing this kind of problem. I have my Desire Z now for more then a year and my hardware keyboard keys started to be unresponsive from time to time or type double letters. Only thing I can think about the is dirt under the keys. Found this post and may be this can be the solution and worth trying: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377294 I think I wil give it a try :good:

I have a Cingular 8125 that I've been using quite heavily for about a year now. Unfortunately, a lot of the keys on my Qwerty keyboard are starting to get EXTREMELY difficult to press, especially the Del, W, V, F, R, and a couple others.
What I was wondering is if anyone knows of any software I could download that will change the "on-screen" keyboard from the small windows one you have to tap with the stylus, to an iPhone looking one with larger keys you can actually tap with your fingers.
Try this one http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-pocketcm-keyboard-v0-10-rc2.html

That was pretty good, but I wouldn't mind the keys being a little bigger. Those are still a little tough to press on. I do like how it doesn't accept the letter until you let off the screen tho, that IS nice.
Anyone else know of any such utilities out there?
Bumpity bump!! Anyone know of any other software keyboards I can try out?
I had the same problem
My 8125 keys started becoming very unresponsive and I had to call Cingular and they actually warrantied it... Now I have a new 8125 and the same problem is occurring but even worse now and even the 'red dot' key.
I am trying to flash now to a newer version that I had on my other phone. It showed a little display square on the bottom of the screen for when the red dot was on or off. Do you happen to know what flash version enables that or how to enable it?
Good luck getting yours warrantied

I'll give it a try, hopefully that works.
As for the firmware or whatever you're referring to goes, I believe that's what I have installed on mine. Lemme see if I can find which one it is.
EDIT: Found it. It's the Molski AKU3.3

A few keys on the keyboard doesn't work when you just click it, you have to press down hard for them to work, and some of them enter in multiple times when i just press it once. Is it dirty or something, how can i fix this, outside of buying a new keyboard?
Mine does the same. There was a fix posted in another thread, but it doesn't seem to have fixed all of the problems I am having. I have to push ****ing hard on the period button for it to work.

Qwerty keyboard fix
They keyfix helped my problem with duplicate letters... hoowww arre youuu dooiing?
But, I had problems with certain keys not registering button presses. For me it was mostly the "Y" key. There is a thread over at PPCGeeks about this issue.
The keyfix does NOT fix this problem.
I am actually waiting on my replacement to arrive from fedex, got it replaced under warranty.
Call your customer support and let them know this IS a known issue with the hardware keyboard.
Enjoy your replacement.
Spray it wih contact cleaner. See near the bottom of this thread.

Verizon xv6800 slide out keyboard issues
I have some issues with the letters Q,L,O,A and Z. What seems to be happening is, when I push these letters in, it will come up with a little screen asking me if I use a different letter or symbol. For example, when Q is pressed, it comes up with a little window that says basically, do you want to use the @ sign or W. This only happens with the letters above. Everything else works fine. In the input settings, I turned off the enable auto correction and word suggestion. I even ran the fix and it still seems to do the same thing. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance
Mike
Q and P are my biggest culprits.
I just received my third replacement in a little over a year for this exact problem. Somehow everytime I've called about it Verizon still says it's not a known issue... It should be a known issue from MY replacements alone.
The keys that aren't functioning correctly for me are A, Cap/Shift, the blue dotted button (function key I guess), P, Del, the Right arrow, and that's pretty much it.
ive been having this strange problem with my touch screen for the past month or so. its been working just fine for the past year so this is a bit of a bother. anyways here goes:
the right half of my screen is properply aligned as in when im using the keyboard and pressing keys such as p or k or l they press fine but on the left half of the screen where keys such as A or S or D are present. when i press them they dont get pressed, instead the key next to them gets pressed for example if i press S then A shows up.
i tried aligning the screen it solves the problem but only untill the system reboot. when it goes haywire again like this. anyone else suffering from the same type of problem and know the solution to this?
thanks alot

I've just got my new myTouch 4G and I'm totally loving it...except this issue I'm seeing which I don't know if it can be fixed by software or I have to return and get an exchange!? I'm leaning toward the latter but still hoping it's a software issue
I first saw this issue while using swype or touch input keyboard. Sometimes, I couldn't type letter such as r, f and c. Here are what I observed and tested:
1. Swype worked fine when I first booted the phone.
2. Sometimes later I noticed I couldn't type letters such as r, f and c. If I touched on the letter, either the letter on the right or left of that letter appeared. Other keys worked fine.
3. I thought it's the problem with Swype so I switched to Touch input and saw the same keys had problem (r, c & f)
4. Switched to landscape mode, those keys (r, f & c) worked. Other keys which were in the same spot as r, f & c in portrait mode seem to have accuracy problem. Ok so this is a problem with the screen.
5. I downloaded the paint app and tried to paint the whole screen. This is what it looked like:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8696116/badscreen01.jpg
6. Reset the phone doesn't seem t solve the problem.
7. Only a 1 or 2 times I got the keyboard with all letters working again after resetting the phone right after calibrating the g-sensor. Maybe something else got it working but that was what I remember doing before resetting the phone.
8. I even tried hardreset using the software way but still saw the problem right after doing the factory reset.
9. I then tried doing the hardreset the hardware way then I saw the keyboard working again. But again, I noticed the problem reappeared sometimes later.
My phone is still running android version 2.2. I still haven't got the OTA update yet.
Is there anyone else having the same problem the the screen? Anyways, I'm hoping it's just a software issue or a screen problem with just some individual units.
I have 2.2 still and mine doesn't do that. You should exchange it. Obviously, its something to do with the screen, not the software from what you wrote.

I would just take it back and exchange it...what happens in 3,6,or 9 months when it just quits altogether, the exchange process is going to be a bit more complicated at that point. Not that HTC is hard to deal with, but you will most likely be without a phone for awhile.
We are still pretty soon after launch that you will most likely get a brand new unit as apposed to a refurb if you take it into a store and show them.

okay, so my optical trackpad is no longer working, or is super NOT sensitive at all.
During messaging, when I type a sentence "hi, how's it going, I'm doing..." or something like that, I used to be able to use the optical trackpad to scroll to any letter but now, I cannot. Even when I can, it's after 50 swipes of the trackpad... WTF.
In the homescreen, when I swipe the optical trackpad left/right, it does nothing.
(I'm not rooted, everything is stock; learned not to root and setup the phone after my first mt4g exchange)
I'm hoping I dont have to exchange this one, but is there any setting or something I could do?
Oh, and the button on the optical trackpad works cause I still use the trackpad wake to unlock phone.
thanks in advance.
Factory reset. If that doesn't help - call T-mobile and have send you a new one. My trackpad works perfectly, much better then the one in G2.
I exchanged my wife's phone a couple days ago due to the exact symptoms you described. I factory reset the unit twice and the problem persisted. The track pad crapped out while we were still in our first 14 days from purchase (starting to question the unit build quality although it had the sony screen... Taiwan made). TMO customer support stated "there's not any troubleshooting we can do for this matter. We'll send you a new phone".
yeah, I feared NOT doing a factory reset but I guess I have to.
This is like my 5th factory reset in 3 phones.. HTC QC is really starting to f$ck1n piss me off.. WTF
I guess I will factory reset and if it doesn't work, I will exchange... yet again...
I'm getting the EXACT same problem, did the factory reset help? Did T-Mobile send you a new phone?
Thanks in advance for any info. I hate to reset my phone after finally setting it up to my liking...
You could try flashing a diff ROM
EDIT: ermm well that could work but I meant to type kernel

Looks like my girl had joined the club of broken optical pads on the mytouch. She blames me actually, saying me flashing ROMs on her phone did it. Is that possible? It works to select items
If you press really hard but u can't swipe with it. I found out the pressing really hard works to select while in recovery trying a differ ROM well that didn't work it still takes a hard press to work. Went from darkside sence to darksode MIUI. I can see the red light in the trackpad it stays on with the screen and goes off with the screen. Not sure what to do with it shes stuck with the phone for at lease 1 more year when our contract is up.

Nice job searching! A year old thread haha, and probably her fault... I bet she dropped it because unless it started happening when you flashed a ROM then it's probably hardware crappin out.
