OK, I don't get this. I see a great dev, with what appear to be some of the best hacks and ROMs available for our tab, but he's like, blacklisted here or something? What gives?
I've almost installed a Thor ROM a few times, main thing that's stopped me is the rotation lock switch doesn't work, as of last time I saw it, and thats something I use a lot. His ICS ROM is one of the fastest developed ICS ROMs I've ever seen. Why doesn't XDA, which is the go-to android site, not support his work?
consider me perplexed
EDIT: aaaaaaand.... found a big ol preexisting thread. Everyone always says, use the forum search. Well guess what? Forum search sucks

I have been watching things here start to get a little crazy (atleast in the Hermes thread). I don't have a magic answer, I wish i did. I have been thinking about his for the last three days. Then with JJ, the developer of black for the Hermes, deciding to take his rom to another site, yet to be determined. I started to think about how the ROMs are being supported.
I seems that we need to look support these roms like any software application I've been part of developing in the past. I think we need to look at adding a bug track system. Rather than use the forum for bugs and new releases what do you guys think about using a bug track system for this. This could be used for all kinds of applications.
Lets talk about this and see if the Admins and Mod think that this cold be something that is possible to get integrated into the xda site.

already tried... tried to implement a bug-zilla like site... noobs couldnt figure out and didnt bother using...
So we just give up. Sorry I just not ready to give up like that. We have to learn to educate these users. I agree with a thread I saw under the hermes about making a rule about posts like "DLing now".
never said anything about giving up... y dont you have a chat to the Administrator Peter Poleman...
I didn't want to post this in the ROM Development forum because it doesn't apply to a specific ROM, but this is a question about them.
I am looking for a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM that has Bluetooth and the OLD version of Pocket Internet Explorer. I really only use IE to stream MLB games, and the new IE is INCREDIBLY slow for that task. I use Opera Mini for everything else, but MLB requires IE. And I listen to the games through Bluetooth stereo headphones, so I need that too.
FingerMe Titanium's Lite version almost has it. There's a version with the old PIE but no Bluetooth, and a version with Bluetooth but the new PIE. I've looked around at all the ROMs in the Development forum but I haven't found a stripped-down one that has the specific combination I'm looking for: WM6.5, Bluetooth and old PIE.
I know a lot of people that read this are going to say, "Use a kitchen and build one yourself". Believe me, I've tried. I played with SuperJustKitchen and got close, but I think I just lack the required cooking skills necessary to produce exactly what I want in a ROM. About eighty failed recipes have convinced me of this.
Anyway, if someone out there can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks a lot.
I have to admit my first instinct was to jump your case for posting this. Technically it is a ROM development question, general though it is, and should be in that forum. No worries though, you did have some forethought on the matter instead of blindly posting wherever, so you get +1 for that.
However, you didn't look too hard lol, because illconcepts StripTease: Lots to Love edition is what you are looking for, and it has been around for a while now.

Wow, yeah, that is perfect. Thank you for the lead. I guess I stopped reading at the first version of that one when I didn't see what I was looking for. Oops. Looks like Black and Blue might work too.
I posted in the main forum because it looks like most of the posts in the development forum are for specific ROMs, and I didn't want to start a new thread that didn't involve one of those specifically. Turns out I didn't even need to post a question at all, just not be so lazy.
Thanks again.

Lol it's all good. illconcepts updates that thread periodically, so it may not have been there the first time you looked, although he hasn't edited the thread in a couple weeks. Glad I could help.
is there one?
i just know cyanogen and i heard about "blacky´s rom" but could not find it via google.
thx vm
kws
You won't get an answer here.
You really should just Google it.
There is no list. There is no one collection of these MODS.
I don't know if you are referring to MODS, as those coders/hackers that MODify Android, or if you are looking for MODifications to android.
Either way, you are asking for one helluva long ass list if you think one exists.
There are literally thousands of MODifications you can do to an android device.
There literally hundreds of android MODifiers/coders/hackers/developers, etc.
yes indeed,
i ment MODifications of android. but not just modifications but roms.
i just wrote 'mods' because cyanogen call their product 'mod'.
and i did google it. especially 'blacky', about which i heard some time ago.
but i could not find anything. when i google 'android mod' 90% of the results
are about cyanogenmod. the rest is something totally different.
and i think if you would take just the notable (means with a certain amount
of developer activity) roms/mods, the list would not be too long.
but anyway, thanx. i will bite my way through.
have a nice one
kws
Suggestion. Put rom manager on your phone and play
Sent from my EVO with CM7 and honeybread
Compile a list yourself and post it?
It is clear that custom roms are new to you. I only recently flashed my first custom rom but I think I can be more helpful than some people are choosing to be.
I wouldnt get a rom from google. You dont really know its source and often have no one to contact about issues/suggestions. I think the safest option if to go to the subforum on this site that is specific for your phone. Then click on Android Development Forum. In there you will probably have threads for all the major roms such as CyanogenMod, Revolution, LeeDroid, CoreDroid. These are all being constantly improved and you can also report bugs to help future development. Best advantage is they usually have specific instructions for that rom.
Good luck!
hi all,
i might be getting a new s2 soon, so i was wondering what rom would you recommend
thanks
Try some and decide.
This question is subjective, has been asked too many times, pisses the mods off and may well be locked by a mod.
No short cuts unfortunately.
There's no best rom. Because nobody uses their phone the same, nobody's phone is setup the same and because no two phones come out of the factory the same.
I can almost guarantee you won't have the same experience with a particular rom or kernel for those reasons.
If you do get an SGS2, try out a bunch of roms until you find one that has the features you want & works well for you.
There should be a dedicated thread which we can link to whenever we see a post regarding 'best rom'. As people have said you need to try them as everyone has there own views.
I normally end up trying 3 or 4 before deciding and well worth reading the rom thread before trying.
How many of these Stupid Best Rom Posts do we have to DELETE before they get the message Jeez
THREAD CLOSED
There are so many choices and I am a bit overwhelmed on what I should use. I have the Note 3 SM-N900W8 version, this phone is for my dad. I just want a simple android environment that would be Google certified(if that's a thing) so he can use apps that do not like root like Netflix. I was hoping something that is similar to base android 6 or later, I have no idea which roms would work that would be simple to use. I was hoping something like what I would use on my Nexus 6p called Pure Nexus, but obviously, it's for that phone only but would have been perfect. The current one he uses is always giving him trouble when updating apps with security options that he never has any idea what to do, so I get stuck having to do it for him. Sorry that I am all over the place with this post, but hopefully someone understands and knows what would be good. Thanks
See multiple identical what rom best rom posts .
ROM descriptions are posted .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development

I would suggest if its for somebody else and you don't know what you are doing/ cannot read rom descriptions then stick with stock rom .
Yes I am very aware of those pages, I was just hoping from someones experience, if anyone has come across something similar to Pure Nexus. I know how to install and all that stuff. Starting to feel it was a mistake to post this thread...

It is hard to say what your need for a rom are. Every one uses there devices diffrently. What works great for me might not be good for you. And viseversa. There are never stupid or dumb questions. Even though it has been asked many times over. Best advice is to search and read and try each of them to see what fits your needs.
Btw i have at&t so I am limited on what roms I can use as I have a locked bootloader.

Thanks for the advice, I am researching over what is available and taking my time to make sure I choose the right one. Thanks again.
