[Q] Ideos X5 U8800 Replacement housing - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi everyone. My phone was involved in an accident and all of it's back cover is lost. I've looked online quite a bit and did find a replacement for the battery cover, but cannot find the top back cover, with the camera, speaker and led protections and the power button which I'm also missing, or a full replacement housing for that matter.
The phone is working nicely but these parts are missing, so I'd like to find replacements. Huawei's portuguese representation claim they can't sell me these parts and if I send the phone for repair it will cost me more than a new one (!)
Anyone knows where I can find a full housing for it?
Thanks in advance

Ultimate Nightmare - XDA2 Cracked LCD

yup, I fell over... which as if that wasn't painful enough, I also happened to crack the LCD on my XDA 2, which has a nice "windscreen effect" of cracked glass, and the added bonus of wrecked liquid crystal oozing out and ruining it completely.
I phoned O2 and they quoted me £160 for the repair job, but I thought it'd be worth a shot to see if there's a cheaper option, self-repair included (although I have the feeling that self-repair is night on impossible when the colours are pooched) anyhow, recommendations much appreciated.
Try www.pdatechcenter.nl
great people, answer the phone, reasonable price
They just repaired mine +++
bought the LCD replacement from a seller on eBay in taiwan, now I need to work out how to remove the black part at the top of the phone (the one with windows mobile on it)
if anyone knows how, since the service manual is a bit vague (and I'm trying it with a very small hex-key) then it'd be appreciated.
I have a just bought a broken Himalya (XDA2/Orange M1000 all the same thing) and I have no need for it. I purchased it on Ebay and the screen is in excellent condition no scratches no dead pixels and is in mint condition. I also have a PDF from HTC on how to open up the device and change it yourself. I bought it for the speaker as the speaker in my XDA2 was rattling..swapped it out and it still rattles on high volume....hence no need for it. I want the money I paid for the phone.
So for all you guys out there with a broken screen I have one.

not necessarily, there are different screens that have been put into the XDA2, so whilst it might be correct for one, it won't necessarily be suitable for another

Don't do that the way as described in service manual in pdf format downloaded somewhere from this server.
Pull the stylus, antenna connector cap and SD out, take a small flat screwdriver and carefuly prise the black cover on this places:
1.Where is the volume slider button
2.on other side below the stylus hole
The cover must easily jump out from the hooks situated below antenna connector and on the other side below the three lines on the cover. Then only pull easily other hooks on the top under the SD slot.
I recommend to put same small paper sheet under this cover when assemblying. That prevents for screech of this part in future.

I want your broken wizard!

Please, its been about a month since the earpiece on my wizard died and i can't find the part anywhere! I found one damaged wizard on ebay which sold for $400 with a damaged screen! obviously a fradulent buyer but the seller hasn't replied yet.
So if your wizard is water damaged, smashed, or simply inoperable i need this one part to fix my earpiece. Also my brothers wizard's speakers are blown so it'd be great if i could get a hold of those two.
What i need is the ribbon cable which connected the main board to the top sliding half of the device. Its a ribbon cable attached to a circuit board on both ends.
Please i really need this so i can bring the phone part of my wizard back to life.
PM me if you know where i can get this part or if you have a damaged wizard.
Thanks in advance!
broken wizard!
i do have a working one with cracked screen. where are you located?
i should have mentioned that.. I'm in austin, texas. If u are over seas i can check to see if i can make it elligible for a corporate rate to ship it to me.
Also how much would u be wanted for it?
I'd offer you mine, but I got the same thing broken.
i just emailed 2 sellers on ebay which have cellphone parts and wizard housings in there stores, awaiting there reply. And i'm working something out with the one person with a damaged one from ebay.
What do you guys think $85 good for a wizard with a damaged screen?
broken wizard
I have a broken wizard--I dropped it, but I can still make calls from it via the bluetooth headset.
PM me if you are interested and I'll give you my phone #.
I've pm'd u, but does that mean your earpiece is broken as well? Cuz what i need is the ribbon cable that powers the earpiece, LCD, digitizer, softkeys, and everything else on the front half of the device. So if yours is broken then probably won't help mine out much.
i guess so. If you need an intact (front) then mine won't help--due to the fact that the "cal answer/hangup " buttons do not work.
The damaged one i bought off ebay came in today, swapped the parts out and now my earpiece is working again!! i'm so excited!!
Now i have all these parts lying around if anyone needs anything send them my way. The parts i got are:
The main board
Camera
Vibrator
Main housing (except for the front its really banged up)
Antenna
Keyboard
But no battery cover, didn't come with one.
Heres a pic of the mess i had on my desk but it all worked out perfectly
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I no longer have the damaged wizard so please don't PM asking for parts.
hey fone_fanatic, wondering if you ever experienced your Wizard creaking when you press down on the front faceplate(below the call/end buttons)....seems to come from the hinge right under the the right soft key (the one connected to the keyboard), only thing is it only makes noise when the keyboard is closed and my keyboard is not loose at all(nice and snug)....just wanted to know if you might know of a fix for my problem, would you recommend me taking it apart or just sending it in for a warranty repair or do you know if it is pretty easy to somehow shorten the gap between the front face and the keyboard?.... appreciate the time.
Regards,
P.S. My Wizard works fine, its just starting to get very annoying when I make/end phone calls.
no, mine doesn't make any noise when i press down there. well there is a noise but its coming from the battery cover. if your device is under warranty, i suggest sending it in if it bothers you that much. the reason being because when u open it up your bound to break a couple of clips which might make it worse.
fone_fanatic: I love that mess on your desk
You might want to mask out your First National Card though - edge detection filters would love that image...
V
don't worry about the card, its one of those advertisement cards you get in the mail syaing your pre-approved or whatever. i always keep those cards and use them with taking devices apart.
fro the broken units
check out this site they repair and sell repair parts

anyone got a 8125 with a cracked LCD but all other functions still working?
yes, i'm aware of pocket pc techs but they didn't have the part i needed to fix mine whihc is why i bought a damaged one and salvaged the part i needed out of it. Now i've got all these extra parts , but what to do with them...?
@ fone_fanatic
thanks for the advice....off to warranty it goes...hope it comes back with no new problems (fingers tightly crossed)....
Regards,
hey can I see that pic of the parts u got left?
I wouldnt mind buying a wizard with just a broken LCD if it was cheap. $180 to send it in to fix a LCD is super expensive when the phone is like $350 on ebay

The reason i bought it the this one with the damaged lcd is because i couldn't find the part i needed (Rigid Flex Board) anywhere so i swapped my broken one out with this one. So if i was to put this back together not only would the lcd be busted but the earpiece won't work also the speakers would be blown (sold good speakers to a friend). Also the front case is heavily scratched/dinged, looks like someone smashed a brick on the phone.

HTC Touch HD/Blackstone digitizer

Hi,
I'm new to this site, if I wrote something wrong, please have a mercy .
Ok, my thing is that I have HTC Blackstone and I broke its frontal cover (known as digitizer too ). I ordered this part prom ebay, and today I got it. Nice, new, tools included. But...then I started to dismember the phone, and at the end I discovered that its display is glued or something like that to frontal cover. The question is: How can I change this digitizer? Because with LCD everything is fine, I need to change just this digitizer.
Hope to hear some tips.
Thank you all in advance .
Checked the service manual in the wiki?
I tried, but only thing that I found was some kind of service manual for dismembering the phone up to LCD, but there isn't any info on how to change LCD (and I think that changing digitizer could be similar to changing LCD). I don't believe that HTC didn't include such an option to change LCD or digitizer, especially if digitizer can be bought separately.
Maybe this can help then.

I've not watched it all the way through but hopefully it might help.
big thanks, but this guy in video is stuck in the same situation as me . I'll try to contact my local HTC service center, maybe they'll have some solution .
Sorry then don't know. Good luck.

I very much doubt they'll give you any info on taking the HD apart, they'll surely want you to send it in for repair!?
That said I would love to have a go at replacing the entire outer casing as mine is looking tatty now. Can you send me a link to the ebay seller that you got your parts from and maybe I'll have a go at it myself
EDIT: Perhaps it would be better to get a screen and ditigitzer as one unit? LCD & Digitizer
EDIT: Have you managed to get the screen and digitzer out of the front part of the case, I guess it's then easier to split the screen and digitizer. See this ebay item for pics, perhaps it makes a bit more sense when you look at it Full Housing Kit

[Q] Is Defy easy to take apart and fix?

Hi all,
Just looking for some advice. My Defy, which has been dropped many of times and never broken, dropped out my pocket from a ladder last night. It landed on the top where the power button is and the screen shattered and also the LCD has broken and is just lighting up.
Now, had a sniff around this forum and found a website in the US that say they can send me a new digitizer, adhesive and lcd for just under £40.
My question is, is the Defy an easy phone to take apart and more importantly, is it easy to re-assemble? Just looking for some advice before I waste £40. I had a quote of a couple of repair shops and cheapest I got quoted was £70, in that case I would just buy a used one on ebay for about the same.
Any advice welcome and much appreciated.

Very Simple.. but careful

Easy to take apart and reassemble.
But if it's been dropped before there's a good chance that one or more of the screw holes will break off in the process - these are very weak and flimsy.
Also, you may lose your waterproofness on reassembly unless you are very careful.
Also take care of dust getting between the glass and the screen on reassembly.

Original screws does not fit.

I replaced my Nexus 4 back cover, I took the same screws that were on my old cover and try to put them in the new one.
The screws does not fit well and does not screw all the way down.
Can it be because of the back cover? I orderd it from eBay and it's quality not good.
Please help me!
If you are sure that the screws were the same, then your new backcover isn't original and it isn't good! I suggest you to send it back and buy elsewhere.

I ordered it from eBay, sending it back will cost me the same as the back cover (which arrived cracked).
I looked at the back cover that came with the Nexus and the holes for the screws (from inside) are bigger, thats why I could not screw it all the way in (the new cover is white and the old is black, if it matters).
Anyhow, I installed it without the screws and hope to get a refund as the product is low quality, probably not original (but the description says the brand is LG) and it arrived broken.
