Naming/Calling in Development session

I would like to suggest for naming/calling in Development session.
As we all known that Z, J, Trip, Wolfbreak and 28spawn have their own successes.
Z has succeed his stable Froyo 2.2 rom and camera.
J is porting CM7 Gingerbread.
Trip has ported his own rom
Wolfbreak has succeeded in camcorder for 2.2 and his stable rom CM6.1.3 which was based on Froyo 2.2.
28spawn is good at tweaking camera and camcorder qualities.
Can we give clap for them? Yes, we can call them real developers. I am really appreciating their works.
However, I have seen some people are copying sources from others, just changing themes, changing launcher which can get free from Market, a little bit of tweaking and they called/named it to rom/firmware.
Can we give a name such as Changing Launchers or Changing Themes or Updating rather than naming/calling new ROM/Firmware?
Well, I am not a developer. I believed that everyone can understand what I meant.
This thread is just a suggestion.

People are adding a launcher onto someone else's rom and then having the audacity to ask for donations....
As for trip, nice universal radio and fully working gingerbread rom... Wait, those never happened?

People like you are probably the reason he hasnt uploaded anything. Pretty sure Trip was the one to port MiUi and the first to port Arc and other devs have attested that he has provided sources and other assistance. Just because he never fixed every bug in the ROMs he worked on for no compensation in his spare time and then quit posting when everyone started flaming him and his threads were closed. None of the devs is obligated to do any of this work for you. Quit the unnecessary flaming, trip has done more for this community than you ever will. I haven't seen you upload any ROMs be they complete or otherwise. And Im sure if his unified radio is ever released you'll be flashing it just like everyone else. A project like his radio isn't something that can be done overnight especially when you factor in many of the devs are busy with their own lives and work. After seeing the trash you and other ungrateful self inflated asses have posted here I wouldn't freely share my work here if I was him either.

I have to agree. Anyone of you who thinks that trip is not competant then please go ahead and build us some roms perhaps you could finish where he left off, i bet a lot of us here will be damn right happy. Trip has already stated his reason for being off most of the time. But you guys still flame him. Sadly this is usually what happens
Dev does things people are happy, devs stops for awhile people either forget him or flame him.
HE DOESNT DO THIS AS A FULL TIME JOB!! even if we crave for some bug fixes or something new from the devs, anyone of them. We must remember that they have their lives just like us and not some guy sitting infront of the com 24 hours 7 days a week just to get your thanks and maybe a few bucks of donation.
As for people calling themselves devs and asking for donation by changing some things and stuff. Well i cannot say it is wrong but donations are based on the satisfaction of the benefactor. So if his tweaks, even if its small, satisfies the benefactor then the donations is fine. Thats the whole point of donations basically. And i believe if they are using other roms they should either link or give credit.

That may all be true, but I can understand the flaming directed towards him. As I recall, Trip started many projects without successfully completing any. And then being a dev, one should welcome criticism, which Trip did not. Instead he momentarily stopped working on selected projects inorder to "punish" the critics. Can you really blame people for the flaming directed towards him?
I like his ROMs. Just wish that he had completed them.
Edit: I take back everything I had said. With all his latest work, he is an awesome dev!

Without going into the intricacies, try telling that to people who actually donated to "Trip". You two are probably among those, I suspect.

No i havent but whether or not he abandoned them because of critics is not the point. Every dev have their own reasons, he may have his own for not completing them. And why should one flame him then? Without him we wouldnt have most of what we have . you may argue u dont use them but others do. He contributed something to the community unlike some flamers who flame but nothing is coming from them in return. Im emphasising on the stuff he did finish. Why look at the wrongs when there are countless possibilities with the rights?

Absolutely right, all trip ever did was masked in secrecy, he never openly shared with other devs like J or Z, the ported radio is an example where J is clearly asking Trip for some openness and to share work.
Also I seem to remember he got upset because his links got taken down even though they contained warez.

And why not we just stop flaming him for now and at least he will back give us a good explaination for his actions. And dont get started on we dont want him back posts. well,i have been visiting xda for many months now,i really appreciate the excellent work done by devs ,but then this mod editand few other people come out and start shouting on the devs that they are not doing anything good or better,well i hate these kinds of people and i want the moderator or chairman or whoever runs xda developers site to thr mod editkind of people who demoralize devs out of this site and block them so they don't come back again to participate in the forums,they are a shame to devs society

yeh is always the way lol want all new stuff but refuse to learn to how to make stuff, i would start to learn but i have no idea where to start XD i think dev are going a great job, we have custom rom's, emulated dual touch and soon ip tables (bring on the wifi hot spot) and all while working on boot loader bypass.

no, that's definitively not you. however, you made mistake by saying something that feels like this behaviour and of course, people will react. how would you feel if you were dev like racht and someone came to your thread saying something like "i dont see much/any progress (lately)"... of course you would be at least a little bit pissed off, which would lead to piss-off chain reaction similar to the one in atomic bomb
i think that we can forgive him this, at least because it his approach wasn't so aggressive as sometimes it is (take a look at, for example, i9000 development, at some places you'll find people fitting in my analysis)...
because this fight won't bring us anything but negative energy and feeling accross the forum, making it even worse... although i'd really love to be admin and ban forever everyone who seems to be debbie-downer...

What are you complaining for?

Ive had my Vibrant since its release on July 15th, this is my second device because a few hours out of the box it just bootlooped.
I love it, and i love the dev community thats here for it, but im tired of hearing people complain about stock updates that their not gonna use. "samsung doesnt update their devices", "This is my last samsung phone"...Are you serious? Why complain when you've had an awesome dev community since the start. People know their not going to run stock but the complain anyway. Imo, I think people are just jumping on the Samsung Hate bandwagon. This is an awesome phone and community, And our Vibrants still murder more than half the Android Comp on stock 2.1, you guys saw the youtube reviews right?.
Why dont we give more praise instead of more ungreatfullness because this just sickens me.

Agreed. This is my first android phone and will be keeping it for a long time. Devs have been awesome, but you will always have people who ***** and complain. It's just the nature of the beast.

Well said. This is a beast of a phone when run on custom roms, and our amazing devs are doing some great stuff to double the performance. Kudos to them. But some people simply live to whine and ***** around in their daily life let alone an internet forum.
Love this Vibrant and this great community behind it.

I love my Vibrant also. My phone does EVERYTHING that I could want a pocket sized computer to do; and it does it fast and it does it on a beautiful screen. The folks who have taken the time and energy to mod this rad device are plain and simply: awesome. Thanks to everyone at <TW> and EDT (my favs) for tweaking my phone in ways that I never could. Thanks to all who have worked on this device and produced a dozen + other ROMS. And thank you to the new Devs who are willing to continue tinkering with their own, hard earned, phones for the benefit of us all.

Yeah and you 2 are probably some of the whiners he is talking about. If you don't have anything positive to contribute to his post then don't comment. He made a very valid statement. I haven't been a member for long, but I have seen many threads that were either titled something about never buying samsung again or whining about not getting stock updates. So unless you have something constructive to contribute to this thread then don't come in and bash him for just trying to point out that the phone is awesome and that people are worried about stock updates when they don't even use them

Disagree. This post has to reasons. To get people to see how great their phone is and to get them to be grateful for all the hardwork here in xda.

Agreed, the phone is great and still can be considered in top 5 phones out there. However I will like stock gingerbread for the sake of GPS drivers and Voodoo Kernel.

I never said his statement was invalid. I'm simply pointing out that threads like this often turn into flaming etc. People posting hate threads are a problem on this forum. People replying to those threads with flaming is also a problem. People posting thread that are prone to start flame wars are also a problem. Threads like this pop up all the time and more often than not it ends up being a flame war. I agree with the OP. People should take the phone for what it is or stfu and leave. But making this forum better isnt just about shutting down flamers when they start crap.. its also about not feeding their raging and/or posting things that invite them to start trouble. Constructive enough for you?
If you haven't been here for long than maybe you have yet to see the pattern. And maybe you should at least thing about what I said in my initial post before resorting to insults. While your at it, I invite you to find a single post of me whining about anything. Because I promise you wont.

When Samsung releases updates then our devs can tear them down and make them better. Without that source code it's very difficult to make the custom roms that are so friggin awesome. This is why we don't have a totally stable and working 2.3 rom out yet, and we probably won't until Samsung makes the stock 2.3 upgrade available.

I, personally, have nothing to hate on the phone about..
We all complained for 2.2, but knew that our roms that we already have are FASTER and BETTER, when we did get 2.2 stock, no one used it, it was used by devs to probably put a few things in their roms, but after that, its gone.
The GPS sucks, i get it, thats their fault, they made a mistake, other companies have before as well (Apple with their antenna) I don't use GPS i have a GPS so i use that instead of my phone.
Besides that, i can complain for probably... no flash for the camera, but thats it.
MY phone is PERFECT, with the devs all that hard work, and i'm talking about the REAL devs, not the fags who theme and call themselves devs.
(no offence to themers at all, themes are themes, and are not meant to be a full rom, with the exception of Jellette's Bi-Sidekick ofc, it had to be a new rom even though its a theme)
I, Thank you all developers for sticking with us through the hard time that Samsung has given the devs by not releasing the source code, etc.

Please stop with the dumb comments against the devs. This is totally uncalled for and should stop now. I am someone who really enjoy's coming to this site. I come here to read, learn and always am looking for new fun things to flash.
IMO all the devs here are amazing and remember they do this all for free, They dont have to give us nothing but they give us amazing Roms, Kernels and Themes to make our phones better and allows us to customize it how we like. You are all entitled to an opinion but if you have nothing nice to say then you should'nt say it. Dont start crap because your Rom hasnt been updated in a few days, you know the devs are working on it and will release it after its been tested. I know i want something tested before i flash it and i would think you would also. So lets remember we all are here for the same reasons and i would like to make sure the devs know we appreciate them and all they do for us. I dont want devs to start getting pissed and say forget you all so lets try being nicer to them.
Sorry for this but this is just my opinion and i hope you all would agree with me.

Why, Why would anyone who is a member or user of XDA, bash on the Developers?? This is ASININE!! The developers here have made your devices so much better than they are stock. they spend countless hours fixing what the carrier and manufacturer screwed up in the first place and pawned off on us as GOOD STUFF Every time I have Questions or Issues with something it has been a developer who helped me, so in return they get all my support. Then I take what I already knew and what I learn here and apply it to helping other who are not at the level i am yet. So if this forum is dedicated to making things better for your devices and your understanding of those devices and its OS, which they MOST definitely ARE, why not show support and ask for help if something is going wrong or you don't understand, most of us are truly here to help. Instead of complaining and bashing do some research and find out how to help yourself, who knows, you might get so addicted to it you become a developer yourself.

Thank you... It's nice to see people are agreeing with me on this.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Also, remember to not be frustrated when they can't instantly solve a problem. There is a reason that they make the roms, and you don't. Most people are busy.. maybe they have a job, family, and/or school. The fascinate really has talented people working on it. We are some of the lucky people that flash new toms and kernels without a locked bootloader.

Are you trying to suggest that I can't complain about the bleeding edge software/firmware and a**kicking mods that we get from them when Samsung and Verizon wouldn't walk across the street to piss on our heads if we were on fire? Are you implicating that I don't have the right to leave criticizing posts and berate the devs when this awesome stuff isn't exactly to my liking? Especially when it's user error and all my fault? Just curious, but where did you see anyone bashing a developer? The only bashing i have ever seen in the fascinate forum was of people who post things that are obviously not their own work. A lot of comm rom supporters used to have bad attitudes towards nitro for including tsm parts in his rom, but he has gotten rid of those now so there is no reason to be mad at him.

I think this thread was started in response to chronster's comments in your Crysis Revolution thread about Community ROM being broken and your theme not being made for other ROMs.

Well there has been people coming into the posts and complaining that this Rom or theme hasnt been updated. i mean i am all for the newest updates to any of the Roms, themes, launchers and anything you all do for us. So basically i was just trying to put it out there that anyone who is not contributing to any dev or mods should just be patient and in time all their ROMS, Themes, CWM and everything that you all do will get done. I was just getting tired of people demanding stuff, i mean come on if you want something bad enough and you can't wait then oh well learn to do it yourself. There are plenty of people waiting for Comrom v 2.0 and they will have to wait until it has been tested and released, when it is it will be awesome b/c these good people who have jobs and lives outside of this posts are willing to do amazing stuff in their free time. I know your Tw4 is going to be awesome and you do amazing work.
I just want everyone to be nice to you all as they should be showing their appreciation instead of sometimes being asses to some of the devs. I didnt enjoy my phone when i first got it and now i love it because of all that you all do... I just wanted you all to know it and i hoped everyone else agrees with me.

Our devs rule and everyone knows it. Anyone who would bash them is clearly a troll or an idiot, or both, and shouldn't be paid an ounce of attention.

yeah it wasnt just chronster though....if you actually want to bang your head against the wall there are dozens of lousy comments in the com rom thread about "this rom is broken, why release this..blah blah"

Hey guys I've observed the DEV section recently. What I see is a lot of trolling, flamming, spamming and etc. That's out of my hands, 'cause if I try and tell them off, I would be contributing to the spam and trolling. Plus, stuff like that is usually between user and user. What REALLY pisses me off is that there are some users who actually have the balls to question and berate the DEVS themselves ! Imagine, these hardworking group of people, who have no obligation to us or duty to fulfill, are sacrificing their time, energy, money (electric bills don't pay themselves and PCs don't run on petrol ) and resources to develop something for us to use from day to day. May I remind you that it is all free ? But what faith awaits these people ? Money ? Fame (yeah, well maybe a little ) ? Keys to a Ferrari ? NO. They are rewarded with demands and insults from normal users who do nothing to help ! I'm not a moderator, so I can't step up and do anything to these ungrateful b*startds. Not only that. While the devs are hard at work developing a new ROM or MOD, they expect to open up their threads, hoping for some useful bug reports. But no. What they do see is a bunch of ETA's, complaints and repeated questions. All I CAN do is sit and advice and advice and advice...but what I see is trolls and such have gotten bolder. Even I've lost my patience with these people and nowadays I tell it as it is. I know mods can't be here 24/7, so of coarse stuff like this is bound to happen. Hey, even they have lives. There are users who actually care and try to advice these trolls, like lucastan96, deedii, colossus and wilbso. Unfortunately, their time, effort and kindness too, as their words are falling on deaf ears now. So what do you guys think ? I want to know if you guys have any advice to contribute or any suggestions to give...from what i see, if this nonsense continues, development in the X8 forums will slowly become extinct...
P.S. No flamming, trolling or disrespecting here either ! And if you're one of the trolls, please don't waste your time clarifying of defending yourselves...no one wants to hear it...

Trolls, if you re-read all your posts carefully, those including stupid arguements and asking ETAs, you should realize you are scaring the developers away from our beloved forum. I am really very fed up with trolls here in the forum, except for one particular thread "Off Topic" thread created by moderator Zelendel. Guys, seriously, stop acting like kids begging people for some answers of something, especially in the dev forum. Or, you still want to say something that is TOO TOTALLY OFF TOPIC? The thread is there for you.
All I can say is you guys trolls just make me lost my appetite everyday.

Well, at least themed ROMs are blocked now. Now you see there's less ROMs being released recently. Thanks go to Colossus for enforcing this great rule.

Agree, too. Some devs leaved xda because of the idiots how dont
respect their work (Not in this section but in other devices).
Maybe dev section should be shut down for normal users and a dicussion thread for every rom could be started? Just an idea..

Great thread. Haven't read much of those troll posts in dev section as I hang around in General and Q&A most of the time (don't know enough to be helpful to the devs). Hope the trolls read this and stop trolling. Maybe they'd realize what would happen without those devs. We owe those guys HUGE.
